i told you guys i'm back:))
TOBIAS POV
I forgot how much I missed Zeke. When I was in L.A, I put everything that I associated with Chicago on a shelf to be forgotten about- including my best friend. And now that I'm here, I realize how stupid that was.
"So Tris came over last night, hm?" Zeke smirks, hitting me in the leg with his wet towel. The sound of the slap echoes through the entire locker room and a few guys look up at us.
"Ow!" I yell, wrapping my hand around my calf. "That hurt."
"Well that's what you get for not calling me, or coming to see me, or talking to me at all for TWO YEARS."
I give him a pitying smile and feel my heart drop in my chest. Zeke is like a brother to me, and he has always been there. I moved in with him and his family when my dad was arrested. They have treated me like their own ever since. I will always be grateful.
"So did she?" Zeke asks again, easily switching back to a lighter topic.
"Yes." I answer, rolling my eyes.
"What did you guys do?" He wiggles his eyebrows and I can't help but laugh.
"We didn't do anything. We ate a pizza, watched a few movies and then she had to go home."
"Did you kiss her?" He asks.
I wish. "No." His eyes widen. "I mean I wanted to, but I…"
He laughs and I groan. "Shut up."
"You're such a pussy, did you know that?" He chuckles again. "Seriously, you were nominated for an Oscar last year and you can't even kiss some girl that you like?"
I drop my shoulders and feel my cheeks heat up. "Tris isn't just… some girl. Okay?"
I'll admit that I've had my fair share of "girlfriends" while living in California. But they were all just set up my by publicist to get more publicity for an upcoming movie. Tris is different. It feels different.
Zeke smiles at me. "Oh my God, Four. You're falling in looovvveeee."
"And you wonder why I never called you when I left."
"I had an interesting talk with Uriah this morning." Tris says to me, sliding into the passenger seat of my car. Dismissal was about twenty minutes ago, but she had to talk to a teacher about making up a test or something. She insisted that I just go home and not wait for her. I refused, obviously.
My stomach drops. I knew Zeke had a blabbermouth, but did he really tell Uriah, of all people, our conversation? "About?"
"You have a movie coming out soon!" Why didn't you tell me?" She asks.
I exhale a breath I didn't know I was holding and smile. "It's not until December."
"Four," she says. "That's next month."
I laugh. "I know. It's just…" a super personal film that I want to hide away from the world and never let anyone see. "I think I did a really good job in it, that's all." That's not a lie. I seriously think it is my best performance… ever.
When saw the script last year, I knew I had to audition. The plot is super close to me. The mom dies of a drug overdose, little boy is beat up by his dad, grows up to be super successful; a total tear jerker. I might as well have written the damn thing.
"I might have to force myself to go see this one, then." She admits, staring at me. Her hand moves to the center console and the backs of our knuckles touch. I look up at her and she blushes, trying to pull her hand away. I take her fingers in mine.
TRIS POV
I've never really understood why people hold hands. And when Four grips mine, I still don't. Other than the slight chill that goes up my spine when he touches me, I don't get it.
Until he runs his finger down my palm, then I understand completely.
"You've never seen one of my movies?" He asks me, acting horrified.
I look down at our hands. His thumb runs a continuous pattern over the back of my palm. "Um maybe a few. When I was a 15, I was obsessed with you."
He lets out a loud laugh, blue eyes meeting mine. "I don't believe that for a second."
I smile. "It's true. Seriously. Until I learned that you were an asshole. I remember when I found out that you got arrested for underage drinking. I though that was the worst thing anyone could do back then."
"Not anymore?"
I shake my head. "Not really. If that were the case, I'd be a huge hypocrite. "
He nods. "What about that time I went to SeaWorld?"
"Hmm. Not one of your finer moments." Last night, I explained to him that I'm a huge animal rights activist. I started a fundraiser at our school to shut SeaWorld down. We got over a thousand dollars raised last year.
"Just to let you know, I hate SeaWorld. My publicist made me do it for promo."
"It seems that she makes you do a lot of things you don't want to do." I say, pulling my hand from his, trying to keep my voice light. I don't know where this sudden anger came from, but the thought of Four being completely controlled by this women makes me feel really irritated. He's a grown man, he should do the right thing regardless of whatever kind of money or publicity is involved.
"Yeah, she's a bitch." He agrees. His expression softens when he sees mine. "Hey, is everything alright?"
We've arrived at my house and I nod. Forcing a smile, I quickly thank him for the ride and slide out of the car.
Tris is always mad at him lol
dont hate me i love angst
