Jessie stalked quietly behind Ana and Duke waiting for the perfect opportunity to slip away, she knew that if she didn't go with them that there would be no guarantee that she would survive the attack but she didn't car; she wasn't going to leave Storm Shadow behind. She discreetly tuned her radio into the main frequency just in time to learn that the President had been successfully detained. She smiled discreetly, the Joe's were too blind to realize that they were too late, their plan had worked and soon they would be in control of one of the most powerful nations in the world.

She slowed her pace bit by bit until finally she was far enough behind the other two that she was able to slip away unnoticed. She turned down a side passage way and stopped checking the minicomputer on her wrist to see where Storm Shadow was in the base. She was the only one who was able to track his position because she had made him wear a tracker that was synced solely to her device. When he had asked her why she wanted to know where he was at all times she had simply said that it was for her own peace of mind. In reality she wanted to know so that she could find him any time she needed too, she had always feared that one day their enemy's would find their home base and she had wanted to be prepared if or when they did. She knew that Storm Shadow would be in the thick of the battle and she wanted to be able to help him when the time came, she knew she wasn't the best fighter but she was still able to hit a target and that would be all the help he would need anyways.

The computer beeped and a small red dot showed up in the cannon control room, it was a bit odd considering the room was somewhat out of the way from the rest of the facility but she figured he had probably found Snake Eyes and engaged him in battle. She started to head that way when a searing pain shot down her arm, she looked down to see what was causing her pain and saw the skin on her arm crawling as if there were a million tiny bugs crawling just under the surface. Slowly her skin seemed to melt away as the bugs, or what she soon realized nanomites, seemed to crawl to the surface. She cringed as blood started to drip down her fingers and pool on the ground, she hadn't known that she had nanomites in her system but figured that Rex or her father had injected her with them when McCullen first took her in.

Meanwhile a ways away McCullen was sat in a submarine with a screen in his lap as he shook in agony. The flames had eaten all of his face and he wasn't sure even the Doctors skills would be able to help him. He was gasping heavily as he slowly typed out another command, displayed on the screen was a picture of his adopted daughter along with vital signs and other readings. Her left arm was lit up with tiny green dots that represented the nanomites; he had specifically had them programed so that if she was ever compromised he would be able to stop her from divulging anything of importance to the enemy. The nanomites where to eat away at her flesh and then her organs, the enemy would be to confused or horrified to stop it in time and Jessie would be in too much pain to tell them anything. It was cruel but he never claimed to be perfect, he had sacrificed much for the project and he wouldn't allow anything to stand in the way of its success, not even his own daughter. Unfortunately for him Rex chose that moment to check on his distraught leader, when he saw that the man had done he quickly stole the pad away from him and disabled the bots. He couldn't believe that McCullen could be so heartless as to kill his own daughter, true he had threatened to kill Ana but that had been an act, a bluff in order to stall the Joe from acting. He quickly checked Jessie's vitals to make sure she wasn't in immediate danger, when he saw that she was relatively fine he went back to the front and notified all the soldiers that were still on the base to be on the lookout for her, he wouldn't be able to go back and get her himself so he could have to rely on his minions to get her for him. As he steered the sub clear of yet another piece of wreckage he could only hope that she would make it out alive.

Jessie gasped in relief as the nanomites stopped. They had eaten most of the flesh off her lower arm and had started to tear into the muscle, the pain had been excruciating and she had feared that she would lose the limb completely. She didn't know what stopped them but she wasn't about to question it, she looked down at her computer to make sure Storm Shadow was still in the same place before she started moving again. Her left arm hung limp at her side useless and throbbing but she continued on refusing to give up. She reached down in to her boot and pulled out a wickedly sharp looking dagger that she had hidden there, it had been a gift from Storm Shadow for her 16th birthday and she never went anywhere without it. She rounded a corner and almost ran straight into three of her father's men.

"Ms. McCullen we need you to come with us, the Doctor has ordered that we get you out of the base as soon as possible."

"No, I'm not leaving yet!" She watched as they seemed to deliberate between themselves before they started towards her.

"Sorry miss but we have to follow orders, it's nothing personal." The first one that made a grab at her was careless and was quickly felled when her blade stabbed its way through her skull, the others weren't so easy. She elbowed the first in the head while kicking out at the other one only to miss, he ran at her and was able to land a hit to her injured shoulder before she stabbed him in the chest. Just as she was pulling the blade out the last one kicked her in the back causing her to stumble forward dropping her knife in the process. She straightened before whipping around just in time to block the next hit which was aimed at her face, for the next few minutes they were locked in hand to hand combat, neither of them gaining any ground. It was only when she was able to hit him in the neck with her fist, momentarily stunning him, that she was able to get the upper hand. Using his moment of weakness to her advantage she wrapped her good arm around his neck and snapped it, panting as he fell to the ground. She took a second to grab her knife and put it back in its sheath before continuing on to find Storm Shadow.

When she finally reached the control room she could hear the sound of blades clashing and knew immediately that he had found and engaged Snake Eyes. She walked over to the broken window just in time to see Storm Shadow push himself off of Snake Eye's blades and fall back into the water.

"NOOO!" In that moment Jessie felt as if her entire world had been ripped away from her, the man she loved had just been murdered in front of her because she hadn't been there to help him. Part of her wanted to jump into the icy water after him in an attempt to save him but she knew it was too late. Instead she turned to look at the man responsible for his death, she might not have been able to save Storm Shadow but she would be damned if she let his killer live. Jumping down she picked up Storm Shadows sword that he had dropped and ran at Snake Eyes with a roar. Her movements where brutish and unplanned but her rage fueled her hits and each blow was staggering, Snake Eyes blocked each hit expertly and after a few minutes he disarmed her without much trouble.

Jessie, now lacking a sufficient weapon, dropped to her knees. Her fury and adrenaline had kept the pain from her wounded arm at bay but now that she was sitting still it all came crashing back. She fell to the side with a strangled cry, her vision blurred and the last thing she saw was Snake Eyes moving forward as if to pick her up.

When she next awoke she was strapped a bed wearing a white hospital gown, she seemed to be in a military hospital only it would appear that she was as much a prisoner as she was a patient. As she slowly regained her senses she noticed Duke and another man standing by a window, it would appear that they were watching as another man scanned Ana. They were probably looking for a way to remove the nanomites that Rex injected into her but Jessie knew that was impossible, Rex was a genius, if he planned for them to stay inside Ana forever then they would.

"Duke, it's good to know that you care for her as much as Rex does." He turned to look at her and she could immediately tell that he wasn't amused by her statement.

"That bastard doesn't give a rat's ass about Ana; he was going to kill her!"

"Please, that's bull shit, it was a bluff. The whole reason he injected Ana with nanomites in the first place was to protect her. McCullen had already had his eyes on her and the nanomites where Rex's way of insuring that he would be able to protect her, he knew that if anything were to go wrong with the plan he could play if off like he had used the nanomites to control her, he knew that the government would see her as a collateral damage then, someone who got caught up in a war unwittingly. No matter what you say or think about him he loved Ana and everything he's done to her was out of love."

Duke looked as if he was about to say something but instead he just shook his head and walked away. Jessie knew that he would have a hard time accepting what she had just told him but had no doubt that in time he would come to understand Rex's actions. When the Joe turned the corner and was out of sight she turned her head back to look at Anna. She let a silent tear run down her face as she came to grips with the fact that she was once again alone.

Her father had tried to killer her, abandoned her for his own personal gain just like her mother had. Rex had been captured by the Joes and would be unable to rescue her from her prison, Ana had switched sides and more likely than not hated her now and Storm Shadow was dead. Upon realizing that he was truly gone and there was no hope of getting him back she let more tears streak down her face, the one man she truly loved with all her heart had been ripped from her before she even got a chance to tell him how she felt. There were no words for the emotional agony she was in, at first she simply wanted to die, with her family gone there didn't seem to be any reason for her to continue living. But then the anger hit, she would get revenge for what the Joes had done to her, it was their fault that she was now without a family and it was their fault that Storm Shadow was dead! The more she thought about it the madder she got, she would make the Joes pay and she wouldn't stop until each and every one of them was dead, now all she needed to do was get out of this prison…
