Blake POV:
'Fuck' I cuss to myself as a twig snaps underfoot. A cold sweat runs down my spine as I wait to see if they heard. They continue to kiss, and a wave of both relief and worry run through me. Ruby looks so happy, and it's frightening. I don't want to lose her, I don't want to be alone again. I want Ruby to stay with me, I love her so much, but seeing her kissing Weiss and whispering to her sweetly, I can feel my heart breaking, like a bug under a heavy boot.
I don't want to lose anymore people I love.
I turn away, being careful not to break anymore twigs. I leave them to their own devices, not wanting to see anymore.
I didn't initially mean to follow them, I had just been wanting to see where they were going to eat. It was at that moment that arrived at the restaurant that I saw them coming out. I hid in an ally, not wanting them to think I was following them. Then I heard them talking.
"Thank you for a wonderful night Weiss." Ruby spoke. "It was a lot of fun."
"It doesn't have to end.." Weiss mumbled softly. "There's one more thing I wanted to show you."
"What is it?" Ruby asked.
"Come with me." I looked to see Weiss offering her hand to Ruby. Assuming the worst, I decided to make sure Weiss didn't try to make a move on Ruby. That's how I had ended up following them, and now I was feeling broken and alone. A bitterness settles itself in my heart, as I think of Weiss taking Ruby away from me completely. I want to be with Ruby no matter what.
When I arrive back at our room, I collapse on the bed, tired and ready to rest. I feel my eyes growing heavier, until they finally slide shut and I drift into the beautiful world of dreams.
Only it isn't beautiful.
My dreams are nightmares, littered with Grimm beasts, seeing my childhood played out over and over again. I saw myself being abused, rocks thrown at me by older children. I saw myself at protests, power hoses turned on us and sent me skidding down the road. I saw myself with Adam, my first love, and having him become someone I didn't even know anymore.
I woke up in a cold sweat, feeling a warmth pressed against my side. I turn to se Ruby, awake, clinging to me.
"You were having a nightmare... I didn't want to wake you but I wanted to try to make you feel better..." She whispered softly in the darkness, clinging tighter to me. "Do you want to talk about it?"
"No." I mutter, shirting to face her. "Where's Weiss?"
"We came in and saw you were having a nightmare, she said I should try and comfort you..."
I nod, thankful that Weiss was let her lay with me. Just having Ruby around always calmed me. We lay in silence for a long time, before I hear Rubys breath steady into a calm rhythm of in and out, snoring lightly every now and then. I smile, kissing her forehead.
"Thank you Weiss... Thank you Ruby..." I mutter, drifting back to sleep. My dreams are sweet, with that of me a brunette and a white haired girl fighting off the grim that threaten us.
I wake up and Ruby is gone. I glance at the clock and see that it is nine o'clock. She must have gone to her first class. I don't have to be at mine for half an hour, so I decide to dress and go down to breakfast. Down there I see Yang with Pyrrha and Jaune. Yang waves, calling for me to come sit with them. I grab a plate of eggs toast and sausage, and walk over to their table, taking a seat next to Yang.
"Hey Blake, long time no see." Yang winks. "You been treating my sister right?"
"Woah wait you two are dating!?" Jaunes eyes grow wide. "Since when."
"It's complicated." I mumble. "We're seeing each other, but she's also seeing Weiss... We're kinda competing for her affections."
"You didn't tell me about that's!" Yang exclaims. "I didn't even know Ruby liked Weiss."
"She likes her a lot actually..." I mutter. "She also likes me a lot too though."
"Who wants to bet Ruby chooses Blake?" Yang smirks, nudging me with her elbow. "I bet twenty bucks."
"I've gotta put my money on Weiss, sorry Blake." Pyrrha shrugs casually. I growl lightly.
"What about you Jaune?" Yang tries to break the awkwardness.
"I don't know, maybe they'll all just end up together..." Jaune scratches the back of his head.
I scoff. "Yeah, that's not going to happen. "
"Just a suggestion." Jaune mutters.
"Whatever." I get up, throwing my untouched food in the trash can. "See you guys later."
I walk down the hall, wanting to get to my next class early, and not have to get a lecture for being late. A pass by a group of chittering people, a green haired girl laughing loudly.
"Man this is going to be awesome, little red is going to get what's coming to her for what she did yesterday." The green haired girl cackles. I slow, wondering who they're talking about.
"Man Emerald, you're one stone cold bitch, you really beat that girl bad."a pale blue haired boy chuckles.
"Bitch had it coming, challenging me like that during class yesterday, maybe now she won't go mouthing off to people superior to her." The girl gives a wicked grin. "Maybe now she won't wanna be a huntress anymore either."
I hate this girl, her superiority complex making me sick. She was just like those who thought they were better than faunus. It makes me want to beat the girl down, just like she did to that poor girl. I clench my fists, resisting.
"What was the girls name anyway?" The blue haired boy asks.
"I don't knew, something with an R... Rue, Ruth..."
"Ruby!?"
Emerald turns and looks at me, smirking. "Yeah that's it, what's it to yo-"
I cut her off with a punch straight to her nose. A sickening crunch followed by a pained scream.
"My nose!" Emerald cries. "You bitch, you broke my fucking nose!"
I don't stay to fight, instead running to find Ruby. If what Emerald was bragging about is true, she's in bad condition and needs help.
'Hold on Ruby...' I think to myself. 'I'm coming.'
