Hey I'm back with another chapter.
I don't know about you, but Oskar is fucking hard to write. Not only did I suffer with his dialogue, I was tortured with his personality as well. If I had to guess why I had a hard time writing him, is that the show just doesn't give him much attention. Hence, me struggling to write about Oskar. And I know it's not just me who struggles with the character. I'm sure Oskar's lack of exposure in the show is one of the main reasons why we don't have many Oskar-based stories in the fandom.
That being said, enjoy the chapter.
Disclaimer: It'll take me about a hundred years, and even then I still won't be owning SVTFOE. Star Vs. The Forces of Evil.
Story is mine.
Finding The Underground Demon [1-2]
"I don't know about you, but I missed having you guys around." Oskar said as the four of them sat on the car; his car. "Everything is pretty quiet and boring when I'm alone."
"We kinda missed you as well, Oskie!" Marco smirked as he placed an arm over the boy's shoulders.
"I told you not to call me that."
"When did I ever listen to anyone?"
"Hmm. Touché."
"Seriously, slim hoodie over here never listens." Ferguson crossed his arms. "Every time we create up a prank. He was the one that always screwed us over. Hell, he even had to publicly ridicule a girl just to meet her!"
"I was desperate! Okay?!" Marco waved his arms. "And her name's Star! Not 'a girl!'"
"Wow. You actually remembered her name. With a brain like yours, it's a miracle you remembered her."
"Shut up, fatass."
"You saying something, slim face?!"
"Looks like the Troublemaker Squad is back in action." Alfonzo chuckled as he turned a page from the book he was reading. "And to think our reunion would be this stupidly annoying..."
Alfonzo could only smile as the two glared at him.
Oskar Greason. Former Troublemaker Squad member and getaway driver. Marco smiled as he remembered the times they spent together. Throwing paint balloons at houses, robbing a pizza place with squirt guns; which almost got them arrested, and just flat out having joyrides in Oskar's car. He could even recall the times they went into music class and horribly played the instruments on purpose.
Oskar wasn't much in terms of the group's reputation. He was more of the squad's hidden member to say the least. Since he was the getaway driver, he wasn't seen much whenever Marco, Alfonzo, and Ferguson decided to mess all across town. If the three get caught, he drives away to their meeting place...well, it couldn't be called one if everywhere was your meeting place.
Things went south when Oskar's mother; Olivia Greason, found them out. Apparently, his mother did not like the idea of Oskar creating trouble all across town. She was a disciplinary officer from some other school in Echo Creek. So it was understandable. A strict mother with a delinquent son in her family? Not a chance. As a solution, she made Oskar transfer to the school she worked in. So that she could keep an eye on her son.
But that meant Oskar had to cut all ties with them...
That was only a year ago. But he still felt like his absence was longer than that. Troublemaker Squad wasn't a squad anymore without Oskar. They were just a trio. Nothing more, nothing less.
"As much as I want to see you guys kill each other, I think we should focus on getting you three to be not expelled." Oskar cut in.
"You got a solution?" Marco asked as he turned to his former troublemaker.
"I have tons of solutions. But I only have one that will work." Oskar then pulled out his phone. "I have this friend of mine who knows a guy that knows another guy, who knows this other guy, who knows this one guy, who knows these three guys, who knows a guy that knows a lot of stuff-"
"My head hurts..." Marco rubbed his forehead.
"Anyways, rumors says that he's pretty much the best underground information dealer Echo Creek has to offer-"
"Let me guess: he's the best and the only information dealer Echo Creek has."
"No. There's two actually. Both are neck and neck in terms of resources. And both are against each other's tactics when it comes to doing their underground business."
"How? And what're their names anyways?"
"'The Corrupt Millionaire' and 'The Underground Demon'. 'The Corrupt Millionaire' sells information to basically anyone who's got deep enough pockets filled with stone-cold cash. And 'The Underground Demon' pretty much just wants you to do something for him before he gives you the info you want. But I heard the jobs he gives are brutal, however, so most people just take their money and give it to The Millionaire."
Marco pondered on the thought. On one hand, he could just do a favor for The Underground Demon and get himself some evidence that proves he's innocent of his crimes, but he would need to take a job that would cost him less than three days and one that doesn't involve his death. On the other hand, he can get all the pennies stuck inside his couch and hope that The Millionaire would pity him enough to accept it...
But he knew that won't work.
So he only had one choice...
"Oskar, get your car keys. We're going to visit Hell tonight."
"Oh, we won't need that."
"What?!"
"We just need to go through there..." Oskar said as he pointed towards a nearby manhole.
"You were right, Marco." Alfonzo coughed as he fought the urge to vomit all over the place. "We are going to Hell tonight. Geez! This place smells worse than the time Furgeson had diarrhea after eating at Britta's Tacos!"
"Hey! Can it, Nerd!"
"Are you sure this is the right place?" Marco coughed into his hands as he stared at Oskar; who seemed to be unfazed of the intoxicating smells of the sewers. "Ugh! How can you not cover your nose at a place like this?!"
"I've smelled worse in my own room, believe me." Oskar then went left into another passage of the sewer. "We won't take long now, we're just a hop and a skip away."
"Let's just hope we find it before something bad happens..." Marco whispered.
And so they kept on walking in silence. Apart from the splashing of water of their every footstep, the group was pretty quiet. They went further down the sewers for a couple more of seconds before Marco felt something from his feet - A current. But he mistook it as Ferguson walking and ignored it. Another current - a bit stronger than the last one, but still not enough to raise an alarm. So he pushed the thought to the back of his mind.
But something happened that all four boys noticed...
A wave - not like the ones they created with their feet, but a lot stronger than that.
Had he known it was a sign; a sign of the forecoming danger, he would've already told his friends to run for their lives. But he didn't. And so he asked something that would put them in more danger as they wasted time.
"What was that?"
As if on cue, a loud splashing of water was heard. Normally, even to a person whose walking in a water-based environment, they wouldn't have panicked...
But the thing is, they weren't moving...
"Guys..."
Before more words could've been said, they heard loud waves - thrashing each and every side of the sewers. The sounds of the water echoed as the four of them looked to where the waves were coming. Looking with faces filled with horrified expressions, the 'sewer tsunami' closed in on them.
And like any sane man that is faced with a natural disaster, the boys looked at each other and said the words any logical person would say in this situation...
"RUN!"
The tsunami closed in on them, filling up every corner of the sewers. Out of all four of them, Alfonzo was the fastest amongst them. The nerd was scrawny and thin, but can give you a run for your money if challenged to a race. Next to him was both Marco and Oskar, neck and neck when it comes to speed. Marco wasn't really a fast runner and Oskar mostly depended on his car to get away.
Right behind those two was Ferguson, who was unusually quiet as they ran for their lives. Marco decided to check if he kept up with- oh wait... he was already consumed by the rushing waters of the sewer.
"Told him he should've focused on getting a diet. 'There won't be a tsunami!' He says! And they say I'm the one who's stupid for recommending it."
If Karma was a person and a guy, then Marco would've grabbed it by the face and bashed its head on the floor. He ended up taking back those words when he accidentally tripped on a conveniently well-placed bottle. Marco groaned as he fell on the ground. Looking back at the ferocious waves that was about to consume him, he let out one final thought...
"If my life was written by an author who likes to make my life miserable, then fuck this story and fuck the author for making this story."
Marco was soon enveloped in the sewer waters before falling into unconsciousness.
Marco woke up to the see the bright color of darkness surround his vision. He turned to the left and saw black and saw the same shen he looked in the other direction. "Where am I?"
The boy stood up before walking around aimlessly. Not like he could tell what direction he was going. To him, north was also east, west, and south. Needless to say, he didn't know where he was going.
"What is this place...?"
"HeLp...mE..."
Marco's body shook upon hearing the voice. It was distorted and unintelligible, yet it was enough for him to understand what it was saying. He noted that it sounded like it came from a woman due to the high pitch. The voice came with an echo, unabling him to detect which direction it came from. He spun around his spot to see if anything was there, only to see the same thing he had been seeing earlier. Darkness.
"SAvE...mE...pLeASe..."
"Where are you?" Marco tried asking, hoping to at least get a general direction of where the person is.
Walking around the area, he saw something white in the distance. Seeing that it could possibly the one who's calling for his help, he rushed towards the figure. As he got closer, he saw a girl on her kness with her arms pushing her up. His jog then became a walk and by the time he was a few feet away from her, came to a halt. He noticed the girl was breathing heavily, as if she was drained of all her energy. Marco started to worry, although he didn't show it on his face.
"Uhh... Ma'am, are you okay?"
The woman responded by lifting her face up. Marco's eyes widened in horror as he saw the face of the woman.
It was Star and Janna. Not as two different people, but as one person. It's face was horribly disfigured, to an extent which he could barely make out their features. He took a step back from the creature looking back at him. "What the-"
"SAvE...uS..."
The horribly disfigured mash-up of Star and Janna, looked at him with pleading eyes. A mixture of tears and blood dropping from their faces.
"H-How?"
His ears were then met with ear-piercing screams.
"AAAAARRRGHHHHH!"
XxXxX
Marco jolted up to find himself in the middle of the floor. He clutched his chest tightly and breathed heavily. "What the fuck was that?!"
What was that all about? Marco thought as he recalled everything from the dream- No, nightmare that he had just now. He could remember every single detail, from walking aimlessly in the void to the high-pitched screaming of the girl crying for help. And it wasn't any girl either, it was Star/Janna, if both of their faces were taken out before being forcefully meshed together.
The question was, what did it mean?
What did it mean?
"Save us..." Marco pondered as the two words repeated in his mind over and over again. What happened to them anyways? Were the put in some kind of accident? Did someone try to hurt them? Kidnap them even?! Whatever it was, he was sure of one thing...
He needed to keep a close eye on Janna and Star...
"Hey, you're awake!" The familiar voice of Oskar called out.
Brown eyes met Oskar's long hair and Marco couldn't help but calm down at the sight of his friend. Alfonzo and Ferguson were trekking behind him, most likely they were up long before he was. Or that they weren't knocked out in the first place. But he highly doubted that.
"What happened?"
"You fell asleep." Oskar smiled.
Marco stared back with a flat face.
"Okay, for real, we didn't how we ended up here." Oskar continued. "All of us were being dragged by the sewer waves in one second and then we're here in the next. Apart from Alfonzo, all of us were knocked out." Oskar then reached out a hand to Marco. "Come on, let's get you up."
Marco took the hand pulled himself up. He looked around his in surroundings, hopefully getting a clue onto where they were currently at. He saw multiple people walking around in suits, women in scanty clothing, multiple shops that contained...mature toys for adults and what seems to be a brothel. As soon as he saw all of these, he immediately guessed where they were at.
"Is this a red-light district?"
"Seems like it. My friend says this was the place when I texted him earlier." Oskar casually said as he walked foward the straight path. "Come on. This way."
I really should stop updating so slowly, should I?
I don't think I'm that happy with the outcome of this chapter. Hell, even with Oskar's lines alone I'm unhappy with. But I guess this was important since I needed a transitional chapter from Star and Marco's meeting to Marco's Expulsion. I will try to update more frequently, but I can't make any promises since I'm moving houses and we don't have internet there yet.
