(Flashback)

They were in the observation room, having the biggest make-out session yet. Tris tried to keep her moaning at low volume, however Tobias's kisses only grew stronger and more irresistible which made her effort pointless.

"T-Tobias…" Tris whimpered. "We are going to get caught."

"Relax, I locked the door so we wouldn't be disturbed," Tobias replied with smirk. Then he leaned down to kiss her once again, only this time she avoided his kiss so his lips landed at her left cheek. He pulled back and frowned over the fact that she avoided his kiss.

"But what if we get caught?" Tris asked. "We could lose our jobs or worse we will get reassigned and forced to end our partnership."

Tobias thought over her reasoning for a second before his smile grew gentle. She was sure his smile could melt her entire body, leaving her feeling gooey on the inside. His hands cupped her face and he said softly, "It doesn't matter because it doesn't change the fact what I feel. If I have to choose between my job and you, then I will always choose you."

Tris smiled at his confession. There was no doubt that she had her worries and doubts about her relationship with Tobias, because honestly he was very desirable by other women and it made her often insecure how she ended up with in the first place since there were many choices out there, better choices than her. However it was her he had chosen to be with and chosen to love, which was why she was certain about one thing. She truly loved this man, who treasured her and showed her love like no man has ever done for her before, and there was nothing that kept her from letting him go.

"Besides don't you remember what I always tell you?" Tobias asked.

"Be brave," Tris replied, and just like magic all her worries and fears disappeared and was replaced with gentle and intense love.

"Correct answer," Tobias grinned. "And here is your price."

He leaned down to kiss her once again and this time she didn't avoid it instead accepted it and kissed him back with all her heart.

It was stupid to think about a precious memory Tris and Four had with each other, but what was probably more stupid was that she always seemed to think about that particular memory whenever they were alone in the observation room. Despite everything that happen between them, she still treasured those memories and the associations that came along with those memories, even if she didn't admit that out loud. However right now Four didn't resemble anything remotely close to that memory, all the love and care she saw in his eyes was replaced by anger and fury towards her.

From the moment he locked the door behind him he forced her against the observation room wall and his arms shielding her from trying to escape his grasp. She was in other words trapped and wasn't going to be let out until he said so, which only meant that she was in for a big fight with him.

"We are going to talk because this is too important to avoid and delay any further than what we have already done," Four said dangerously calm, but with anger in voice. "After I decided to let you make the first move about our relationship, I don't hear from you in an entire month until I got the news from Eric of all people that you rejoined the force you couldn't find it in you to tell me."

She flinched by his words, but she couldn't exactly defend or argue about it either. She knew she hadn't been fair to him, however he terrified her over how easily he affected her and stirred up those feelings she desperately tried to keep at bay around him. But still that didn't give her the right to treat him that way, especially since he was trying to mend their relationship.

"Then you try and get yourself off the case we are working on because you brother could be involved, who you by the way failed to mention that you had, and once again you didn't find it necessary for me to know instead I have to find out about it there and then," Four continued ranting on. "Tris, I'm seriously trying to understand and be patient with you, but if this is how you are going to be then I'm not sure we can work professionally or personally."

Okay, that stung. He was basically telling her that he wasn't sure he could trust her and that hurt her, possibly even more than when he pulled her off her parents case and shut down the investigation completely.

"I'm sorry…" Tris whispered. Her gaze was facing the floor because she couldn't handle seeing the tired and disappointed look in his face. He sighed deeply before his fingers touched her cheeks and cupped them in his hands, forcing her to look him in the eyes.

"I need to know you have my back at all times, the same way you know I will have yours," Four said wearily. "That means we can't keep secrets from each other."

"I know," Tris admitted. "I should have talked to you, about everything, but the whole situation was just a huge mess. The thing about my brother is pretty much a complicated matter and it is not something I like to talk about with anyone, so don't think I didn't tell you because I didn't trust you."

"But you told Christina and Zeke more than what I knew and it still caught me off guard," Four said hurt. "Do you understand how that made me feel to know that I didn't know you had a brother in our past relationship, but right now as well when he could be involved in our case."

Tris nodded. She realized what he was more hurt about was the fact that she never once mentioned Caleb during their entire partnership and relationship, but she knew as well that she wasn't the only one who had skeletons in her closet. Four was a mysterious force who never revealed anything remotely personal about himself or his past, and she never asked him about it either because she always assumed that he would tell her once he was ready, but like right now she began to wonder if he was ever going to tell her. If that was the case then she was going to be just as hurt as he was with her, because it only proved no matter how much they told each other that they couldn't keep secrets from each other they would never come to trust one another despite their wish to be able to do so.

"Look, just like you have your secrets that you don't want to be revealed I have my own, but that shouldn't stop us from working things out," Tris said determined. She stared into his dark blue eyes, showing that she was really serious and determined about this. "We will talk and reveal whatever we are desperately trying to hide and what's ultimately the thing that is keeping us from moving forward. However now is not the time for us to resolve this crap of ours, but once we are done for the day, possibly done with this case, then you and I will head back to your place and we will talk everything out."

"You mean you want to push and avoid the conversation till later?" Four accused. "That worked perfectly the last time." The sarcasm wasn't lost in his voice. His eyes grew darker and his mouth frowned by the idea, however that wasn't her intent.

"No," Tris shook her head. "Just like you always told me, be brave and face your fears. No matter how much it terrifies and hurt me, I have to face it in order to move on with my life. And I want to move on and be happy with my life despite my sad past and my terrible relationship with my brother."

She gave him a small smile, hoping that it encouraged him to believe in her. Because even when she had her worries and doubts about herself, it only took one person to believe in her in order for changes to happen. His expression remained stoic for a while, like he was truly considering her words if he should trust her or not, but in the end his eyes brighten up and a gentle smile appeared on his face.

"I want to move on and be happy too," Four said gently, caressing her cheek. She closed her eyes and leaned in to feel his warm touch on her skin. She could feel the tears building up in her eyes and never felt more vulnerable in front of him like she was right then. She opened her eyes again, lonely tears streaming down her face and touched his fingers. And before she had time to think about anything else, he leaned down and his lips were placed against hers. Then everything around them just disappeared and the only thing that existed was the two of them. The kiss was gentle, yet firm and it felt even better than what it did in the past. She had not realized how much she had missed his kisses, but from the moment he kissed her there was nothing that was holding her back from reclaiming the love she tried to deny before. Because it didn't matter how much she tried to hide and deny her feeling for him, because in the end there was no one else she loved more than him. He was the only man she could ever love and truly belonged with, the same way that she was the only woman for him.

He was kissing her like there was no tomorrow. After he had been waiting for so long to talk and touch her again, there was nothing that was going to stop him from having her back in his arms again. The kiss grew more and more hungry, and somewhere during their make-out session he slipped in his tongue into her mouth, which she responded with a pleasured moan. That wasn't all, it seemed like he couldn't keep his hands away from her anymore. He was desperate to touch her and his hands moved down from her face and down her sides to her waist. It didn't take long before his hands slipped underneath her top and felt the burning warmth coming from her body. However he wasn't the only one how grew more desperate as Tris grabbed his shirt and pulled it off and discarded it on the floor. Then her legs wrapped his waist and he lifted her up and pushed her harder against the wall. Her fingers were scratching his back before they moved to his hair. The kisses was addicting and impossible to stop, but then he remembered where exactly they were and that now might not be the best time to restart their relationship, at least not until they have truly resolved everything between them. Otherwise they would begin their relationship again based on hasty and uncontrollable feelings that could lead to them both getting hurt if they didn't do things properly. Even though he didn't want to stop it, he knew that he had to and that it was the right thing to do. So he stopped kissing her and pulled back. He was breathing heavily like he had just run a marathon. And he noticed she was just as out of breath like he was, but she had a confused face. Then he realized that she was confused to why he stopped, probably thinking that he didn't want this, so he quickly began explaining his reasons.

"We should probably not continue this right now or rather right here for that matter," Four set her carefully down on the ground. "We are still on the clock and it might not be the smartest thing to do until we cleared the air between us."

Tris's eyes dilated in shock and her cheeks turned red in embarrassment. Then she played anxiously with her hair that was out of the ponytail and said awkwardly, "R-right. You are right we should probably not do this now."

"But know this, I didn't stop because I disliked it or because I didn't want to continue, but we seriously need to get back to work," Four said reasonable. He took a piece of her stray hair and put it behind her ear, something that caused her cheeks to blush. He smiled over her reaction.

"We will continue this tonight after work?" Tris asked with a small grin. He nodded before he retrieved his discarded shirt and put it on once again, but was interrupted when he caught her staring at his back in interest.

"See something you like?" Four teased. Tris was taken by surprised and turned her gaze away in embarrassment. Four couldn't help but chuckle over her shyness. She had always been shy when it came to those things, no wonder since she grew up in Abnegation, but he was glad that even after these years apart she still hadn't changed too much.

"I was…admiring your tattoo," Tris replied softly. She was talking about the large tattoo of the five symbols that represented the five cities of Chicago, which covered his entire back. Four suddenly felt both awkward and aware about her interest in his tattoo as she approached him and her fingers began running up his spine, touching the tattoo with care like it was sacred. He almost shivered by her touch, but he didn't move away and allowed her to observe and touch his back.

"You know how each of the cities how their own values that is held with great importance," Four explained. "Well, I don't want to just value one thing more than another. They all represent important traits and I want to try to be all of them. Though I still struggle with kindness."

He shrugged and grinned at her. Then before she had the time to reply he leaned and kissed her. Just a sweet and chaste kiss, but still it definitely left an impression on both of them. When they pulled away they went back to redressing themselves as well fix their appearances before they unlocked the door and left the observation room with real hope and expectations that they would be fine and finally have a chance of obtaining happier future.

Despite the recent change of the development in their relationship, the development in the two cases hadn't really changed since they stepped out for a moment. Tris was looking over and writing the information she had gotten from Four about Christina's autopsy findings and that it was most likely the two cases was connected. After all that work to get pulled off Four's case, it just had to be connected with each other. Both young girls the same age, who were killed and raped almost the same way and only few hours between each other, which couldn't be a coincidence no matter how much she wanted it to be. There are no coincidences in this world, only the inevitable. That's what she learned over time and more importantly during her time as a homicide detective in Abnegation, and it was something she highly valued in her work.

"So we don't have any motives as to why these girls were killed, but do you think this is a case of a serial murder?" Tris asked. Four looked up from Christina's file and thought over her question for a moment before he answered, "I don't think so. To be considered a serial killer he or she has to have killed at least three or more, and the murders totaling more than a month's time and that includes a significant break or what we would call a cooling off period between each of the murders. However our guy doesn't fit the profile since we haven't found another body yet, so let's just assume that the murders are committed as two separate events. But I think that there is a specific reason why these two women was killed."

Tris agreed on that notion, but the question what was exactly that reason. However before she had the time to think of an answer, both Zeke and Uriah arrived with news.

"How about the fact that hours before their approximately deaths they both were in the same location," Uriah said. "I was checking on their financial records and I found out that both of them made charges at the same bar."

"That's great," Tris replied. "Did anyone recognize our two girls?"

"That's the thing," Zeke interrupted, continuing the story for Uriah. "People remembered both of the girls, since they apparently regulars at the bar and were always seen there together. Based on costumers and the owner testimony, our girls were very cozy and mostly kept to themselves, but that isn't the best part."

Tris and Four looked at each other confused. What could be more interesting than the fact that they had their victims' last whereabouts before they were killed and the fact that these girls obviously knew each other?

"It seems our girls had their own common little secret, which apparently no one knew about since neither family or friends had mentioned it when we talked to them, our girls were not frequent regulars at just a bar," Uriah explained with a dorky grin. And then Zeke stepped in and completed the explanation with the same dory grin on his face, "They were hanging at a lesbian bar, the Twilight Exit, which is located a few blocks away from Erudite College where are first victim attends."

This was a huge break and gave them several ideas of motive to why anyone would rape and kill the victims. The victims were connected with each other, and not the way they were killed, but where they were last seen before their deaths. Though it might be a stretch to conclude that the lesbian bar was connected to the homicides, they shouldn't rule anything out.

"We need to check out this bar," Tris concluded. "If both our victims were there shortly before they were killed then maybe something happened or somebody saw something of importance."

Four agreed with her as he began ordering Uriah and Zeke to check up with the victims' families and friends to confirm their knowledge about the girls' relationship as well checking up on trace and forensic to see what they have found about the little evidence they had. Shortly after that both Tris and Four was heading out of the office, but that didn't mean they didn't hear the joking comment from Uriah, "Funny how it is Four who steals my partner and leaves you and me with doing the dirty work."

Laughter followed and Tris and Four only rolled their eyes over their partners' antics and left without saying commenting on Uriah's joke. However she couldn't help thinking how spot on her partner was about how easily she and Four returned to their old habit of being partners. It was a natural thing for them to team up and work together, but due to their separation she almost thought that dynamic would severe. But apparently working the Al Price case seemed to be proof that not matter what happened between them, they still managed to work somehow. And the thought that they could even work together despite their problems and uncertainty in their personal relation, oddly enough brought a small smile on her face as she and Four entered the car and drove to the address where the bar was located.

When they arrived at the bar they were greeted by the bartender, who was setting things up before opening for the night, and was currently walking all round the place in order to do his job. Normally Four didn't mind them working as they talked, but it was slowly starting to get very irritating how he had to move all over the place and the guy was barely keeping the attention on him and his questions.

"Will you please stop moving for a second, Mr. Lewis," Four said annoyed, patience had long left the building. "Two girls were killed shortly after leaving your bar, so it is important that we ask you questions about last night."

"Yeah-yeah, sure," Brandon Lewis said distracted. "But I'm not sure how much of a help I will be, after all I was working behind the bar the entire evening."

The guy was probably in his mid-twenties and could be considered attractive by the female population with his sandy blond hair and brown eyes. Not that he understood why because he got the impression that he was a douchebag, so his charms didn't work on Four, but probably more important it didn't work on Tris, who was currently taking a look around the place.

As long as he has known her, she had never shown much interest in the other sex that went beyond friendship, the only exception was him, and thank god for that. But even though he didn't want Tris too close to this guy, it didn't men that it left him to interview the guy.

"Do you remember are two victims coming in last night for starters?" Four asked, trying hard not to think about punching him.

"Sure, they came here, but I really didn't pay much attention to them since like I said I was working," Mr. Lewis replied. He was standing behind the bar, cleaning up some beer glasses, while keeping his gaze focused on his work rather than at Four. "They came up to the bar, ordered their drinks and was affectionate with each other the rest of the night, like most of the women that comes here. They really didn't stand out, but I guess if you want to find your next suspects you should probably check out this."

He went under the counter and handed over a flyer that was opposed to same sex relationships and marriages. Four looked at the flyer suspiciously.

"I didn't think these guys could be serious," Mr. Lewis said dejected. "It is very legal to be in a relationship with someone of the same sex."

It was obviously work from some religious group, who had their own opinion about what was right and wrong about everything, including same sex relationships. Four didn't really care either way, of course he had been raised in a religious environment, but religion was not of importance to him. Besides he had many acquaintances, who were gay or lesbian, so who was he to be judgmental about that sort of thing?

"Right," Four said curtly. "We will check into it."

It was then Tris approached him and stood next to him. He was glad to have her by his side, but he had to remind himself again that they were still not together since they haven't resolved everything between them yet. However that didn't mean he couldn't at least enjoy spending some time with her.

"Did you see the victims leave?" Tris asked straightforwardly. "I noticed that the backdoor was unlocked. Could they have slipped out his way if they didn't go out the front entrance."

"Like I told your friend, I was busy working all night," Mr. Lewis said with a hint of an attitude, something Four didn't really appreciate him directing towards Tris. But he kept his mouth shut and let Tris handle it because he knew better than anyone that she wasn't weak and didn't need a man in order to stand tall in a conversation.

"That wasn't what I asked you, did you see them leave and could they have slipped out the backdoor?" Tris said in her most intimidating voice. "Yes or no, Mr. Lewis?"

"I did see one of them leave, the dark one, she left out the backdoor," Mr. Lewis said wearily. "I didn't think much of it at the time, I figured she didn't want anyone she knew to see her coming out of this place. Some of the girls that come here still haven't told anyone about being lesbian, so they sneak out the back in order to avoid discovery from someone they know."

Tris nodded, satisfied with his response for now. However they both knew they weren't completely done with him because they both were naturally suspicious about people, more him than Tris, but it didn't matter since it seemed the bartender knew more than what he was letting on. And it wasn't like they could arrest someone and interrogate him or her because they have something to hide.

"Thanks for your time," Tris said pleasantly, meanwhile he intimidated him by glaring with a dirty look. "Please call us if you think of anything more."

She handed him her business card, something he reluctantly took before he returned back to work, leaving them standing in their own company.

"So what do you think?" Tris asked. They both began walking towards the entrance. "Do you think he is innocent?"

"Who knows," Four shrugged his shoulders. "He is certainly hiding something, but it can be anything. Not necessary double rape and homicide. Besides I can't exactly imagine that douche to fit the profile either, he seems to like his women alive and aroused instead silent and dead."

"How do you know he isn't gay?" Tris wondered, but her tone was light and jokingly.

"Trust me, the entire time I interviewed him he wasn't looking at me," Four replied smoothly. She giggled over his answer, something he just rolled his eyes over because it was stupid to imagine it. However he was happy to her laughter because it has been a long time since he last heard it, and it was such a shame to because her laughter was infectious. Which was why it didn't take long before he was laughing along with her.

"I guess it is a good thing then," Tris said.

"And why is that?" Four asked, not understanding what she was talking about. She responded by smiling one of her sneaky grins and said, "Because if there was someone else who showed interest in you then there was going to be a problem. You see I don't like sharing…"

He smiled and shook his head. And even though he didn't say anything or show what he thought, on the inside he was jumping up and down in euphoria over this wonderful woman standing next to him. Without anything else left to say they headed back to the car and drove back to the precinct.

When Tris and Four entered the office they were surprised how few people was left, but then again most of the people in Dauntless Police Department had a life outside the precinct. Not all of them were total workaholics like she and Four, though that wasn't exactly a compliment at least according to Christina. Tris shrugged her shoulders thinking about her blunt best friend and walked over to the whiteboard to see if either Uriah or Zeke had hung up any recent development in the case. In the meantime Four pulled out his cellphone to check if he had received any messages, but before he had the chance to read them both Uriah and Zeke showed up.

"Don't you two ever check out your phones?" Zeke exclaimed. She turned to look at Four, both having the confused expression on their faces, having no clue what Zeke was talking about. However before they got the chance to respond, Zeke shrugged them off. "Never mind that, we might have a problem."

"What?" Four asked, though he tone was slightly impatient as it seemed that they were taking too long to get to the point.

"Uriah was checking out Raven Ramirez last phone activity, and let me just tell you there is so much a girl do on her phone a guy seriously don't need or want to know," Zeke explained. "But apparently our girl wasn't only hooking up with our other victim. She had an active account on an online dating service and was apparently on many dates last night, which means…"

"It means that we have an entire pool full of suspects," Tris continued. "Our victims might have been on a date with our killer."

I know I told you guys that there was a chance I wouldn't be able to update this month, because I need to prepare myself for my exams at the end of the month, but I felt sort of bad that you probably had to wait two months for an update. So being stupid as I am I decided to update and release the recent chapter for this story. Hope you guys like it.

And like I said, the chance of me updating this story again this month is a big zero. However like I stated in my last author's note once I'm done with my exams I will be updating again and probably more often giving the extra time I'm going to have.

Also the plot in this murder has been taken from the tv show, Rizzoli and Isles season 1 episode 6. So I'm going to disclaim any ownership of that, but I will make the murders with my own personal twist that suits this story.

Anyways thank you for the reviews, favorite and followings and please, and I mean please continue doing so. Hopefully I get to update this story soon, but if not then my message above explains why. But until then...
