Hello! Welcome back to another chapter! This idea was sprouted from Toaneo07 who suggested something AU. I hope you enjoy it! On a side-note, please review. No one reviewed last chapter (the continuation of Chapter 7) and I don't know if it sucked or not. I don't usually do fight scenes for precisely that reason, anyways on with the show!

"Why do you keep doing that?"
The teen shrugged as she looked down at the Zippo lighter in her hand as she opened and closed it again. It was a smooth polished aluminum, painted a deep ebony color with a ruby red flame on the front. Years of constant use had worn the coating off of the edges, and a dull silver shown through.
"Don't you know how bad smoking is for your health?"
She rolled her eyes as she turned to face him, an exasperated look on her face. "I don't smoke."
"Then why do you have a lighter?"
"It was...a gift."
"Why would they give you a lighter if you don't smoke? Why do you keep it on you?"
She focused on the object in her hand again. "I don't know, alright?! It just makes me feel... Safe, I guess."
"So you're not a pyro, then?"
She fought the urge to face-palm, and replied, "No, I do not obsess about burning things. Do you ever shut up?"
The bald kid laughed, obviously missing the serious tone in her voice. "I guess not! My friends always tell me I talk too much!" As he rambled on, Azula knew that this detention was going to last forever...
"Zuko! I haven't seen you since Friday! What's been going on?"
The boy with the scar over his eye looked over at his hyperactive best friend with a tired look. "My sister came back into town, and apparently she is going to this school now."
"That's great! When do I get to meet her?" He wiggled his eyebrows suggestively as he said the last part.
"Eww... She's not that kind of sister. She's evil!"
"Aww, is Zuko scared of his little sister?"
"Shut up, Aang. If you knew her, you'd think differently."
"Hello, Zuzu..."
Cringing at his hated nickname, he turned around to see his sister with an odd expression on her face. She wasn't even looking at him, but past him. Almost right at...
"You!" They both shouted in unison.
"Zuko, that's your sister?!"
"What's that supposed to mean, Baldie?"
"I have a name! It's Aang!"
Zuko was surprised at the outburst, but quickly stepped in. "I take it you two have already met."
It was overcast out, as Azula left the school. It looked deserted out, as if everyone could feel a change in the weather and had hurried home. The girl attempted to walk home, when-
"Azula!"
She looked around, but saw no one.
"Up here!"
Looking up, Azula saw dark storm clouds start rolling in, then saw Aang waving towards her while standing on one of the lower branches of a giant oak tree. It must have been ancient, because the branches looked impossibly thick and solid.
"What are you doing in an oak tree?"
The boy laughed as he hooked his legs over a limb, and then fell back, now hanging upside down. "Feeling the breeze! It's so much nicer up here!"
The girl snorted. 'Of all the ridiculous things...' She shook her head. "Well, you have fun with that..." And started to walk off.
"Wait! Azula! Come up here and you'll see!"
"You must be out of your mind."
Aang pulled himself back upright, and a sly smile worked its' way onto his face. "Oh, I see... Listen, it's okay if you can't climb a tree."
"What?!"
"It's nothing to be ashamed of. Not everyone can do something so physically demanding..."
Her temper flared as she shouted. "I am not incapable! For your information, I can do anything you can! And right now, I'm going to come up there so I can KICK YOUR ASS!"
The rough bark scratched against her hands, as she pulled herself up, a fire in her eyes. As she reached where Aang was, she reached out to grab him, but he seemed to dance away from her like a leaf on the wind. Speaking of the wind, the higher she got up, the more the wind seemed to be picking up. The branches were swaying, but she paid them little mind as she chased after the bald kid.
"Come on Azula, you almost got me that time!" he laughed as he evaded her yet again, and headed even higher up.
"That's it, I'm pushing you out of the tree once I get my hands on you!" She raged as she finally reached the tallest safe branch in the tree, where a suddenly very solemn Aang was sitting, staring out through a clearing in the branches. His peculiar behavior was quickly forgotten as she saw a flash of light beyond him. A loud rumble overhead confirmed what she had just seen. Lightning! As a child, she had loved storms. The dark clouds, the rain, the thunder, and especially the lightning. Carefully sitting down next to the usually energetic boy, her gaze was focused on the skyline.
The sky was pretty dark, considering how early it still was. The wind was swaying the branches they were in, as well as every other tree in the vicinity. The temperature had dropped about ten degrees since she had first walked outside, and she suppressed a shiver. After a particularly bright flash of lightning, a loud clap of thunder immediately sounded, and the skies opened up. The rain fell heavily, but thankfully the canopy above them was thick enough to deflect most of the water. The reverence of the storm, and the smell of the rain took her back. Suddenly, she was four years old again on her mother's lap. When they used to sit on the front porch, watching the sky, just the two of them. Her mother would take the opportunity to smoke since she was outdoors, and Azula would play with her lighter. That was back before... before she got sick. Before she left them alone. Father had never been the same. Now he was cold, distant. Zuko missed her too, she knew that. It wasn't something they could ever really talk about though...
"Azula, why are you crying?" a gentle voice asked.
A hand instinctively went to her face, and she pulled back and felt warm tears the she could see mixed with her mascara. All at once, she realized how vulnerable she truly felt. She was having a breakdown in front of a boy, no less! 'I must look like a hot mess right now.'
"I'm sorry Azula. I shouldn't have brought you up here. I just love feeling the wind, and watching the rain. I thought you might like it too." He said sadly.
"I do. I love all of it. It just reminded me of... happier times."
She was abruptly caught in a hug from the skinny teen. Resisting a bit at first, she finally gave in and cried in his arms. Gone was the goofy, hyper teen she had thought was the extent of his personality. In its' place, was a deeply caring, sensitive, strong individual.
He spoke softly, softly enough that she almost didn't hear it. "We can make our own happy times, you know?"
Pulling away, she stared into his intense grey eyes. Leaning up, she closed her golden eyes as the distance between them decreased.
His eyes closed instinctively as their lips met. It was a rush, the feeling of kissing her. His best friends sister. Aang felt like he was floating on a cloud!
As the kiss intensified, a burning desire rose up inside of both of them. Her hand made its' way to the back of his neck, and she pulled him down further as her tongue entered his mouth. His hands started caressing her shoulders, massaging them through the fabric of her shirt. With a huff of annoyance, she pulled away. Aang was about to question what he had did wrong, but she quickly pulled her shirt up over her head, then attacked his lips again. The bald youth found her shoulders again as they continued to make out, and Azula moaned appreciatively into his mouth as he massaged them.
Soon, it was not enough, as the hot-tempered girl pulled at the boy's shirt, almost pleading. They broke apart just long enough for Aang to remove said object of clothing, exposing his lean, muscular chest. The rain all around them was thankfully pouring heavily, and they were high enough up that someone would have had to know where they were to spot them. At this point, clothes were now strewn about the various branches, as the growing desire overtook the two teens. Sex in a tree was awkward at best, near impossible at worst, even though the two were physically fit.
Later on, they would joke about the awkward places that the rough bark had left scrapes on their bodies. As Aang, handed her bra back, and then pulled his own shirt back on, he was beaming. Azula couldn't help but smirk. "What's that smile for, Baldie?"
He shook his head as he replied. "Nothing. I just like seeing you smile."
Azula blushed unexpectedly at the comment, but looked away as she buttoned her pants.
Fully dressed, Aang sat back against the base of the tree, and straddled the branch they had been on all this time. The teen girl soon joined him, resting her back against his chest. He took this opportunity to smell her hair, which was wonderful. Thinking about the girl he was with, he decided to ask a question.
"Az?"
"Hmm?" She murmured, obviously relaxed against him.
"So are we... you know?" He nervously asked.
She turned her head to look up at him. "What ever do you mean?" She asked with fake obliviousness.
"I mean, are we... together?"
"Do you think I do that with anyone who coerces me into climbing a tree?" Azula scowled at him.
"What?! No! I- Just!" A giggle stopped him in his tracks. "That's not funny, Azula."
"On the contrary, I thought it was hilarious." She smiled genuinely, then leaned up and kissed him. "Yes, we are together."
"Yes!" Aang exclaimed as he wrapped his arms around her and hugged.
As the two joked and laughed up above, a soaking wet figure with piercing blue eyes shook not from the cold, but from anger.
