Chapter 9:
Third Person
Location: Mount Justice
"Today's gonna sucks," Conner said.
It had been a week and a half since the incident at the power plant, and things had changed. Conner hadn't been on a mission or anything. He was barely able to leave Mount Justice, and when he did leave, he was followed by one of the team (usually Dick).
He was hurt that his friends were following him like he was some sort of criminal. Truthfully, he was more afraid that they weren't his friends anymore. Yes, they hung out at the cave but it felt more so like they were there to watch him than anything.
Conner was sitting alone in his room. The only place he wasn't followed, but he knew that Superman had made Batman bug the room. Wolf was lying in the corner, and Sphere was beside his bed.
"Please," Conner said to Sphere, and then an electronic pulse went through the room. One of the many things Conner had found that Sphere could do disarming the bugs in his room, cloaking devices, and transforming had just been the tip of here abilities.
"Thank you," Conner said, laying down on his bed. Wolf moved toward Conner and placed his head on his lap; and Conner starting scathing behind Wolf's ear.
THINGS WILL GET BETTER ONCE
THEY REALIZE THAT THEY ARE WRONG.
Conner wanted to believe her, but how could he with everything going on.
"Everyone is treating me different," Conner said, "Like I'm likely to explode or something."
ALEX DOES NOT.
Conner couldn't argue with her on that. Alex had been there, offering her support throughout all time. Thinking about Alex made Conner want to talk with her. He wanted nothing more than to get on motorcycle Sphere and ride over to her place, but he knew he couldn't. Between Superman's apparent hatred of him and the team always following him, Conner wanted Alex as far away from the drama as possible. The last thing he wanted was for the team to thing Alex was a spy or something.
"I wish I could go see her," Conner said.
THE YOUNG BOY WOULD FOLLOW YOU.
"And then Alex would get dragged into this mess," Conner signed, "I know."
I AM ONLY TRYING TO HELP.
"And you are...I guess being suck in the Mount is finally getting to me," Conner said.
YOU COULD CALL HER.
~YOUNG JUSTICE~
Third Person
Location: Alex's House
"Mom where is my red shirt?" Alex yelled, down the stairs.
"In that black hole, you call a closet," Martha called, back.
Ring...Ring...Ring...
"I got it," Alex yelled, picking up a phone.
"Hello, Peterson's residence," Alex said.
"Alex?"
"Conner?"
"Hey."
"Hey...how's it going?"
"Okay...except I'm still on lock down."
"I still don't get that."
"My 'dad' thinks I'm hanging out with some pretty bad people."
"No way..." Alex said, and leaned against the wall.
"Yeah." There was a pause, neither talking but both just listening.
"So I guess you're not going to make it to my karate tournament later this week."
"No...but I'll be cheering you on."
"Thanks," Alex said, biting her bottom lip, 'But I still wait you there with me.'
"Alex, we're leaving for dinner...come on," Emmett, Alex's dad, called from downstairs.
"I have to go...I'll talk to ya later," Alex said to Conner.
"Yeah...bye."
"Bye."
