Cammie POV

"Please god tell me we aren't walking the entire way there," Macey groaned in exhaustion. She had lines of sweat running down her face and an arm over her waist. She seemed to be just as tired as the rest of them.

"No, we are just walking to the nearest bus stop," Percy replied politely. Him, Annabeth, and Nico all seemed fine by the level of exertion the group had put out today. The spies were all sweaty, tired.

"So, the Greek gods," I murmured, jogging next to Nico. He regarded me with a look of disdain and then replied:

"Yeah."

He hesitated a moment, like there was more he wanted to say, but then he didn't continue.

"So, what exactly is Camp Half Blood?" Liz asked in-between pants. Nico glanced at her.

"Why is everyone asking me questions?" He asked. Percy and Annabeth who were walking a little bit ahead of them turned back a little to look at them, but didn't answer. Nico sighed and pinched his nose.

"Camp Half Blood is a safe haven for the children of the gods. It is protected, from the monsters that hurt us, giving us a safe place to train and spend our days," he explained.

Liz nodded, and shoved her hands in her pockets.

"So, we have parents that are Greek gods?"

"Apparently," Nico stated.

Percy turned around and scrunched his eyebrows together.

"What I don't get is who your parents are. The gods all promised to claim-"
Just then an image of a lightning bolt appeared over Grant's head, making everyone around him jump away with startled looks on his face.

Grant frowned deeply and looked up, and screamed like a girl.

"WHAT IS THAT?!" He said angrily.

Annabeth giggled, and covered her mouth with her hand while Percy took a moment to glare at the sky.

"Zeus, keeping his promise."

"Zeus?!" Bex exclaimed.

"Grant, you've just been claimed," Percy stated. "I'm sure that Zeus has an excellent reason for why you were claimed so LATE."

Thunder rumbled through the sky and dark clouds began to roll in, which made Percy seemingly angrier.

"You promised, Ze-"
Percy was interrupted by a sudden downpour of freezing water, the only one who wasn't affected by it being Grant who seemed to have his own ray of sun following him. Percy glared at the ground and Grant tipped his head towards him.

"I'm guessing you and… and my dad don't get along well huh?"

Percy gave Grant a sour smile.

"What gave it away?"

It took another fifteen minutes in the rain for the group to arrive safely at a bus stop. Then another few hours on a bus to Long Island for the group to get anywhere near camp. It was continuing to pour outside, for reasons that Annabeth had decided was not simply to get revenge on Percy.

"He's probably using the rain to help hide us from monsters," Annabeth had insisted. "The rain will not only mask our scent but make it harder to spot us."

Percy didn't look convinced but I supposed that was due to his clear vendetta against the god.

I sat next to Zach on the bus, who seemed just as unwilling to sleep as I did. While all around us people were snoozing (except for Nico of course) we sat awake. Zach was staring at his phone screen, reading an article on the Greek gods. I sat staring out at the wet landscape.

A dark shadow fell over the ground, it looked like a bird, but logically I knew that there couldn't be a bird that size. Especially not flying in this sort of a storm. But still…

"Annabeth?" I said, loud enough to wake the demigod. "Percy?"

Percy sat upright, as if he had never even been asleep, his hand on a pen that had formerly been in his pocket.

"How far from Camp are we?"

"A mile," Nico said with a sigh. Percy groaned.

"Why can't it ever be 'no worries Percy, we are already in Camp. We are actually safe'."

"Because we are demigods," Nico responded halfheartedly. He stood up and so did the others. I scrambled to my feet and began to wake up the others.

"This is our stop," Annabeth announced. Her voice bounced around the empty bus. The driver turned around, looking confused.

"You sure?"
"Positive," she replied.

He shrugged and pulled the bus off to the side of the road.

"I'm not responsible for you if you guys die," he stated. Percy pressed his lips together.

"We just might," he muttered. He then turned to me and put a hand on my shoulder.

"Cammie, I need one favor from you. Just one thing. All of you. Just run. Don't stop, just run. Promise me you guys will just run."

I nodded, but I had a feeling that if I thought it was important I wouldn't be running.

Percy led, darting out of the bus into the rain. I followed immediately, my shoes slapping in the watery-muddy grass.

I looked behind me, and I saw everyone else running off the bus, but behind them was the shadow. It had circled the bus but then it abandoned it, coming after the foot of the group.

Liz.

"We are almost there," Percy screamed, but I had already begun running in the opposite direction. Towards Liz. Towards the shadow.

I looked up, and I saw a flying creature that was red and feathery. I closed my eyes and began to talk.

"Hey dad," I murmured. "I know you have to be dad because mom's still around. So, just. Dad? I'd appreciate your help right now. I won't ask much just… Just help me out okay dad? Help me help my friends."

I opened my eyes, running past Liz. The creature had begun to swoop towards me, I was running at it, nothing but my hands to use as a weapon. I jumped.

Around me, the rain disappeared, the sun began to beat down on me and as I made contact with the creature. A flash of even brighter light filled my eyes.

"Cammie."

And then, my world went black.

Special thanks to dehmigods for giving me some great suggestions for which gods should be some of the characters parents! Sure, I got this advice a while ago but it was still very helpful!
