Sorry it took me so long to write this epilogue, after I finished my classes last semester and the summer started I was working two jobs and still trying to hang out with friends and do other things. I've held you guys up way too long and I feel really because you guys were really looking forward to it, I promise I will never take five months for a single update again. That is enough out of me so without further ado here is the epilogue. It's been two weeks since the events of last chapter.
"Hey Sherman" Penny said
"Hey Penny, so how did you do on the test?" Sherman asked
"It wasn't too bad, but then again we did study together" Penny said
"Yeah, I kind of feel bad for everyone else, I let some people copy my notes and all but I spent most of my time studying with you... Sorry about that" Sherman said
"No you caught some of the things I missed, so you helped me out too" Penny said
"Well if it isn't lovebirds a & b" Penny and Sherman heard someone coming and they already knew who it was.
"Well if it isn't my least favorite person" Penny said turning around to meet Taylor
"If I'm your least favorite person, then I'm guessing your favorite person is Sherman? There is a dance next week is your favorite person taking you?" Taylor asked
Penny didn't know what to say because right after Taylor asked if Sherman was her favorite person she asked if they were going to the dance together. Thing is she wants to go to the dance with Sherman but did know how to ask. That and she didn't tell him about the whole changing the past and everything yet because they were busy studying for tests and other classes.
"Well the dance was announced just last week, and Mr. Peabody keep me busy, so I'm not sure if I'm going to make it." Sherman said "I have to pick up a couple of things from my locker before I get on the bus, how about you? We do have homework due" Sherman said looking at Taylor then back at Penny before running to his locker.
Taylor ran to her locker and Penny let out a deep breath and relaxed. She didn't know how to respond to Sherman being called her favorite person and asking if they were going to the dance together. Then she couldn't help thinking about what Sherman said he wasn't sure if he was going because Mr. Peabody might have something planned but he answered right after Taylor asked if we were going together, so does that mean that Sherman was going to ask me? Penny felt her hears heat up and her heart was beating fast, she told Mr. Peabody and an alternate time-line version of her mom she likes Sherman, but wow. Penny felt nervous, Mr. Peabody did say Sherman likes her too, the more she thought about it the more nervous she got, she tried to stop thinking about it and put the rest of her books in her bag. The more she tried not to think about it the more she ended up thinking about it and would keep getting nervous so she just focused on what they learned in class because the teacher gave them homework.
"Hey Penny"
"Wow! You scared me!" Penny almost jumped 20 ft. then turned around to see Sherman.
"Sorry, you looked a bit distracted. What are you thinking about" Sherman asked
"Homework and stuff!" Penny said quickly
"Ok, you want to come over?" Sherman asked
"Sure, I just have to text my mom to let her know where I am" Penny said
"You want to walk?" Penny asked, if Sherman is thinking about asking me to the dance he should know about everything that happened, Penny thought to herself.
"Sure, it's perfect outside." Sherman said
'Sherman sure knows how to make things difficult' Penny thought
They talked about school and what happened during the day. As they passed the same alley where Sherman was found as a baby Penny thought 'I should tell him now'.
"Ok Sherman remember when you told me about what happened in this alley" Penny said
"Yeah, that was only a week or two ago" Sherman said
"Well you see the thing is, the day after when I came over and we realized that we would not hang out in a while. Because I realized we couldn't hang out I used the WAYBAC to take me back to before Mr. Peabody picked you up and took you to an orphanage. I thought someone would adopt you and we would have more time to hang out. But in that timeline we never met, you were never adopted and had to deal with a second Ms. Grunion. I realized that I messed everything up, so I helped Mr. Peabody build another WAYBAC and set everything back the way it's supposed to be. But after that I got stuck in ancient Troy with Mr. Peabody he jump started the WAYBAC I took him back to five years ago and I came back to the future or present... Time travel grammar is hard to get used to." Penny said looking up at Sherman, she was scared how would he react, after messing up his past so much it wouldn't be surprising if he didn't want to talk to her again.
Penny looked up and she saw Sherman doubling over and laughing "That's some adventure you had, huh?"
Penny was her mouth was wide open "I'm serious! I changed history so that you and Mr. Peabody never met, and you're laughing!"
"I'm sorry" Sherman said with a slight smile "but you have to admit that sounds a bit crazy."
"Yeah" Penny said "but then again this is coming from somebody with a time machine."
"Ok if all this happened then that means that when you realized that it wasn't right you did everything in your power to fix it." Sherman said "That and you made sure all of what was supposed to happen, happened."
"Mr. Peabody said the same thing" Penny said
"You told Mr. Peabody? So all this really did happened?" Sherman said confused
"Actually he talked to me, I put the past Mr. Peabody in his present. Wait now you didn't believe me?" Penny asked
"Well I thought it was possible but if you're telling Mr. Peabody, then that makes it definite" Sherman said
"So how do you feel knowing that all of this did happen?" Penny said looking at Sherman
Sherman looked like he was in deep thought he opened his mouth and the said "Eh" while shrugging his shoulders.
"Eh! I just turned your world completely upside-down and all you can say is Eh!" Penny said clearly expecting something else.
"I think you're forgetting none of this really happened! I mean yes you might have been there and it was real for you but after you went back in time to make sure Mr. Peabody found me none of that stuff ever happened, the power of time travel huh." Sherman said
Penny did know what to say she told him everything twice and he's just acting like it doesn't matter; more like it never happened. He does have a point, she made sure none of that did happen.
"So are we heading to my place?" Sherman asked
It caught Penny off guard how calm Sherman was all she could say was "yeah"
A couple of minutes later they were already talking like nothing ever happened, well for Sherman none of it happened in the first place.
By the time they got to Sherman's place Mr. Peabody was already there so finishing the ultimate pillow fight was a complete no-go.
"Let me ask Mr. Peabody what we can do because I doubt he'll let us finish our ultimate pillow fight" Sherman said with a slight smile on his face.
Penny relaxed and took her shoes off. She saw a puzzle on the table, Sherman must have just started it, because the only thing done where the corners. Penny then started working on the puzzle.
"I think you looking for this one" Sherman said passing her a piece.
"How long have you been there?" Penny said, she was surprised when he showed up right next to her.
"Only a half hour you should have seen yourself, you were in the zone." Sherman said
"A half hour?" Penny was shocked and next thing she knew Sherman was laughing.
"Sorry, sorry, but you should have seen you face" Sherman said still smiling "Oh, and uh what color should we wear?"
"Color?" Penny asked
"When people go to a dance aren't they supposed to wear the same color?" Shaman asked
"Wait, What!" Sherman must have went in to ask he was able to go to the dance. Penny tried to calm down and said. "That's for high school, all we have to do is wear something nice, and let's not wear anything from a different time period." Penny added
"But I just got a shirt from France." Sherman said
"Were you alive when they made it?" Penny asked
"No, but they look pretty awesome" Sherman said
"Sorry but no" Penny said. She couldn't help but laugh a little. "I have to pick out something for me to wear too and ask my mom if I can go, I'm pretty sure she'll say yes though. I'm going to get going so I can tell my mom and think about what to wear."
Penny grabbed all her stuff and ran out the door. As soon as she was out of Sherman's building it hit her! She was going to the dance with Sherman! He just asked her. She couldn't help but smile; she was happy that she wasn't at Sherman place anymore, cause she was sure she had a big goofy looking grin on her face.
Penny got home and tried to wipe the smile off her face before her mom showed up. "Hi, mom" Penny said
"Hi honey how was school?" Mrs. Peterson asked
"It was aright" Penny said trying to sound normal.
"So you're going to the dance?" Mrs. Peterson asked
"How did you know?" Penny said surprised
"I'm part on the PTA I knew before you did." Mrs. Peterson said "Let me guess, when Sherman asked you were grinning from ear to ear. If he didn't ask I was about to ask for you" Mrs. Peterson continued.
"Mom" Penny said trying to get a word in.
"I already scheduled appointments to get your hair and nails done all we have to do is pick out a dress." Mrs. Peterson said "Your nails look nice already, when did you get them done, well you might want to get them done again so they match right?"
"Uh, yeah sure they are starting to get chipped anyway." Penny said, you really can't argue with someone who talks a hundred miles an hour, they're already on the next topic before you even get a breath in. "So when are we picking out the dress?" Penny asked.
"Right now" Mrs. Peterson said
"Right now?! How did you even know Sherman asked me? And what would you have done if Sherman didn't ask me out?" Penny asked
"Yes right now. Please, I'm your mom I can read you like a book, and how many boys have you actually brought home. That and Mr. Peabody already text me letting me know what happened. YOLO! p.s. I already said I would have asked him out for you and I know people." Mrs. Peterson said.
Penny couldn't help but to think 'Mr. Peabody is the definition of one sly dog'. Penny had her hands full just keeping up with her mom, trying to keep up with her and Mr. Peabody would be hopeless. "Mom two things; nobody says YOLO anymore, and second, you used it wrong. Let's get going"
"YOLO" Mrs. Peterson said closing the door.
"Yes, if you say YOLO enough you're bound to get it right, but nobody says YOLO anymore, we actually make fun of people who still say it." Penny said
Just like that the days flew by until the dance.
Sherman and Mr. Peabody showed up at Peterson's dressed to kill. Both Penny and Sherman were too nervous to say anything, but that didn't stop their parents. Mrs. Peterson was taking pictures of everything and Mr. Peterson had a good laugh about. He nudged Mr. Peabody "Mothers lock up your daughters there's a lady killer in town."
Mr. Peabody laughed "You should take a look at Penny."
"Yeah she'll definitely be the prettiest girl at that or any other dance. Quite the pair huh." Then Mr. Peterson's eyes went wide "Now, no funny business you two. This is just a dance I want you guys to call at a reasonable time so we can pick you guys up, and no after parties."
Mrs. Peterson jumped in "Just call us when you think it's almost done."
"Ready to go you two?" Mr. Peabody asked.
"Yeah!" Sherman and Penny said in a hurry, wanting to get out of there. Penny could have sworn her mom took enough pictures on them to fill 5 albums, and Mr. Peabody was on the side giving her pointer for the perfect picture.
"Have fun you two" Mrs. Peterson said
"Not too much fun." Mr. Peterson added
They drove off to school finally relaxing for a bit "I think my face might be permanently stuck in a smile" Sherman said
"Tell me about it, I think my mom took enough pictures to fill like five books" Penny said laughing
"Alright guys we're here." Mr. Peabody said
"That was fast, you ready Penny." Sherman asked
"Uh, yeah" Penny said
They left the car and walked to the school waving to Mr. Peabody.
"Nervous?" Sherman asked
"No, it's just that I feel a bit guilty. It's just why aren't you upset? I kind of turned your life upside down." Penny asked
"I figured as much, you seemed a bit down. Here follow me." Sherman said leading her to a class room
"You brought the WAYBAC here?" Penny asked
"It was invisible, and it moves in time and space all you have to know is the time and space you want to go to. I want to show you something." Sherman said
"I think I need to take a break from time travel for a while." Penny said
"Come on, I know it will make you feel better." Sherman said
"Alright one trip and plus we have a dance to get to." Penny said, she looked down and saw when they were going. "We're not supposed to travel to a time when we existed!"
Sherman ignored her and pressed the button "You'll see"
Next thing they knew they were in Sherman's room two years ago. "I'm sure you remember what today is." They looked down to see themselves sitting on opposite sides of Sherman's room.
"This is"
"Yeah, but be quite or you'll miss it." Sherman said before Penny could finish.
Just then Mr. Peabody opened up the door.
"Everything going swimmingly?" Mr. Peabody asked
"Why didn't you tell me she was coming over here?" Past Sherman asked
"Because I didn't want you to worry." Mr. Peabody said
Past Sherman started growling
"Ok because I didn't want to listen to your belly aching." Mr. Peabody corrected himself.
"Thank you for your honesty" Past Sherman said
"You're welcome" Mr. Peabody said
"I don't know what you think we're supposed to do in here anyway. She hates me!" Past Sherman said
"Share your interests, tell a witty anecdote" Mr. Peabody said
"Mr. Peabody I hate her." Past Sherman said
"Sherman, every great relationship starts from a place of conflict and evolves into something greater." Mr. Peabody said
Present Sherman turns around and looks a Penny, "Feeling any better?" Sherman asked
"No! You just said you hated me! I'm feeling worse!" Penny said with a slight smile on her face.
"In my defense, I thought you hated me." He said
"So, all great relationships start from a place of conflict and evolve into something greater?" Penny asked
"Yup" Sherman said
"And us?" Penny asked
"Well, we have a great relationship, if I asked you to a dance back then what do you think would have happened? What you don't think we have a great relationship?" Sherman asked smiling. Then set the WAYBAC so they returned to the dance.
"I think it's about time we go to the dance." Penny said stepping out of the WAYBAC.
"Yeah, I'm sure every guy is waiting for you to arrive." Sherman said
"Yeah, but I'm already with the one I wanted to see the most." She gives him a peck on the check and runs to the gym ahead of him.
"Wow" Sherman wanted to say something but nothing came to mind. He came to his senses in a couple of seconds and started running to the gym.
'A great relationship' Penny and Sherman thought.
Sorry again it took me so long to write this and get it to you guys. I'm thinking about writing another fan fiction for Rise of the Guardians, and Young Justice. I'm telling you guys just in case you want to read anything else I'm going to write. I promise I will not make you guys wait another 5 months just for an update.
