Nariel watched, detached almost, as Inuyasha collapsed in front of her. She saw Sesshomaru flash past, before abruptly leaping back. She could vaguely hear Rin screaming again, yet she could not comprehend what was happening. She suddenly felt heavy as the sky seemed to shrink and the ground expand.
Damia was horrified at what she was seeing. Rin was screaming as she curled up into herself, convulsing and spitting up black blood. The smell was nauseating and worthy of nightmares… and that was just the smell. Immediately going to Rin's side she grasped her hand.
"Kaede! What is going on?!"
Before she could answer Kagome came rushing in. Instantly, Rin stopped screaming.
"Kagome, get over here!"
"Eh?"
"Don't 'eh?' me! Get over here!"
When she came close enough, Damia grabbed her hand, bringing it closer to Rin's hand watched as her body slowly relaxed and her eyes opened slightly.
"Kagome. I want to concentrate. Close your eyes and draw a circle in your mind."
Relieved at she did as she asked she continued.
"Now I want you to imagine you stretching out your hand and grabbing Rin's hand and bringing her into the circle with you. Do you understand what you're feeling?"
Kagome paused as there was an unasked question in her tone. But she understood immediately.
"Yes. I can do it."
"Good. Kaede."
"Yes, child?"
Damia stood and made for the door, stopping to lay a hand on Kagome's shoulder.
"I'll be outside if you need me. And Kagome, you are the strongest miko alive. You are. As long as you get that you'll be fine."
Pushing aside the door she closed her eyes breathing in the fresh air, briefly wondering where Sesshomaru was, before promptly tripping over Inuyasha. Opening her mouth, she quickly closed it as she caught sight of Nariel with a pained vacant look on her face. Her eyes were gazed over and a trickle of blood was running outta her mouth.. Scrambling to her knees, she scooted over to her calling her name.
"Nariel! Oi, answer me!"
Reaching her hands out to touch her, she froze.
"Dear God, please no."
Pulling herself forward to got as close as she could without touching her friend. The light usually reflected in her eyes was gone. Her face was wan, and pale.
"Please. No."
Damia's voice was barely above a whisper.
"NARIEL!"
