Same warnings as always, with slight cursing. I'm back with the ninth chapter, enjoy!
Kise and Aomine walked around Kuroko's room, a small square room on the upper floor of the house with a large window opposite to the door. Kise fumbled through the desk placed to the right of the window, he analyzed every scraps of paper, every pen and pencil, every photo, and every book. Kise's eyes caught sight of a particular photo; it was a photo of the six of them back when they were attending Teiko. They were at the park, Akashi and Kuroko stood in the center holding each other's waists. Aomine stood behind Kuroko with an arm draped over his shoulder and he held a peace sign with his fingers. Kise was in front of Kuroko crouching, grinning like a madman, holding two peace signs with both of his hands. Midorima stood next to Akashi pushing his glasses upward and Murasakibara stood behind Akashi chewing on some snacks.
Kise smiled softly. He remembered this photo. They were at the park celebrating Kuroko's birthday and a recent game they was won. All before they abandoned him, Kise dropped his smile and turned away from the old photo.
Kise heard a thump, he flickered his gaze over to Aomine who was sitting on the edge of the bed with his head in his hands. "There is nothing in this whole house, nothing that indicates of him being followed or scared of someone."
"Hey Aominecchi, didn't you want to be a cop?" Kise asked.
Aomine glanced at him. "I do and I know this house has no evidence. It seems like Tetsu did not even know The Marker was after him judging by the lack of movement of furniture and paper with scratchy handwriting on it."
"Scratchy handwriting?"
"You know, when someone's writing on paper when they are scared, their handwriting is worse than usual; more messy and unclear."
"I think you've been watching too much mystery movies Aominecchi."
"Not me, Testsu." There was a moment of silence of silence. "I guess we should start looking somewhere else. There's nothing here."
"But Akashicchi said-"
Aomine stood up, cutting off Kise. "I don't care what Akashi said. There is no point in staying and looking for something we don't know and might not even be here."
Kise quietly grunted in agreement. The two began walking out of the room when Kise locked eyes with two familiar red eyes standing in the doorway. "Kagamicchi! What are you doing here? Furthermore, how did you even get in?"
Kagami blinked. "What am I doing here? What are you doing here? And the door was unlocked so I let myself in."
"Why do you think you could let yourself in?" Kise asked.
Aomine shoved his hands into his pockets and moved passed Kagami and went into the hallway. "Teh, whatever, we were leaving anyway."
"What do you mean you're leaving?" Kagami turned to face Aomine.
"It means what it means, come on Kise." Aomine turned, his back facing Kise and Kagami. Kise started to exit the room until Kagami cried out, "Wait." They looked at Kagami.
"Let me join your investigation."
"No." Aomine immediately replied. Kise just stared at Kagami remembering what Akashi said.
"What? Why not?" Kagami cried out.
"Because no means no and how the hell can you help? You couldn't even help Tetsu get out of this mess." Aomine replied back with a bitter tone.
Kagami's eye twitched. "The hell? I'm not responsible for what happened to Kuroko and besides you're just as responsible as I am, you live here in the damn same city." He snapped back.
Aomine fully turned to face Kagami. "You see him more than I do; you go to school with him. You could've stopped him from being kidnapped and you didn't even know figure out that he was missing."
Kagami faltered back, guilt was written all over his face. His hands clenched into fists. "Did you think we didn't know that? I, we want to give Kuroko some type of justice for, for not being there," Kagami dropped his head into one hand. "I was hoping my team and you miracles could share information so we could figure out who The Marker is faster."
"What information does Seirin even have?" Kise asked, placing a hand on his hip. Kagami lifted his head and glanced at him.
"I don't know. I was sent here and I wasn't contacted by anyone yet."
"You see, you and Seirin can't do anything to help." Aomine said darkly.
"I never said we are not doing anything, all I said is that I don't know if we have any information but we might." Kagami yelled at the bluenette.
Kise placed a hand on Kagami's shoulder. "Sorry Kagamicchi but Akashicchi said-" Kise stopped talking as Kagami violently shrugged his hand off his shoulder.
"You're going to listen to someone else on this? I don't care if he's Kuroko's boyfriend or whatever, he is my friend, and all that matters is if we find out who did this to Kuroko."
Kise sighed and moved his gaze towards Aomine who stared at Kagami with hidden sympathy before looking at Kise. They stared at each other for a moment while Kagami watched them carefully. Finally Aomine let out a sigh. "Fine, you can join."
A grin appeared on Kagami's lips. "So, did you find anything here?"
"No, we were going to leave to look somewhere else." Aomine replied and Kagami just nodded.
"Okay, but I want to look around first before we leave. " Kagami said and Aomine looked annoyed.
"Go ahead, but you won't find anything."
After fifteen minutes, Kise decided to re-search the house with Kagami. Kise rummaged through the couches until Kagami called out saying that he found something. Kise hurried to Kuroko's bedroom seeing Aomine peering through the doorway. Kise saw Kagami holding up a journal. "Kuroko's journal. "Kagami simply said.
"Like a diary? And how did we not find this before?" Kise asked, staring at the plain white journal.
"Y-yeah. I think so and I visit his house a lot." Kagami replied.
Aomine arched an eyebrow. "Does it mention anything relating to The Marker?"
"I don't know. I didn't look." Aomine frowned.
"Don't say you found something if it's probably not important!" Aomine yelled at the red-head.
"Well, I'm sorry I didn't want to go through his privacy. I'll look now." Kagami yelled back. He opened the journal and flipped through it. Kise stepped behind Kagami to get a better view. Aomine stood by the doorway conflicted. "Here's the last entry on November 10, the day before he went missing." Kagami trailed off before reading the entry:
'Today was fun despite our harsh practice but everyone stayed themselves; Kagami-kun is still an idiot.' Kagami glared at the paper, Kise let out a short laugh and Aomine smirked. 'I just got back from Maiji Burger with Kagami-kun. I hope he remembers to wake up early tomorrow, probably not, knowing Kagami-kun.
'Mr. Hoodie Man is still outside my house, it's the third day now. I wonder if I should appear in front of him but he doesn't give me a good feeling. Maybe I should… Oh, Nigou is starting to whine, let me go feed him. Bye.
-Kuroko Tetsuya.
"Mr. Hoodie Man? That must've been The Marker." Aomine pointed out.
Kagami gripped the journal. "For three days? Why didn't he tell any of us?" He asked, more to himself than to the other two.
Amine punched the doorway glaring dangerously at the journal. "Why didn't he call the police?" No one answered. Kise stared at the papers, his mouth deprived of words.
"Ah," Kagami loudly exclaimed. Aomine's and Kise's eyes jumped to the ace. "Where is that little devil, Nigou?"
Aomine and Kise locked gazes with wide eyes. "We checked the whole house and didn't see him," Kise said.
"Come on, let's go find the dog." Aomine said and Kagami pushed the journal into Kise's hands as he pulled out his phone, dialing his team to check if they had seen the dog. They all ran out of the house unaware of the pairs of eyes that watched them the whole time through the large window of Kuroko's room.
And Nigou finally joins in the mystery! Sorry for the short chapter and for the long wait. I had actually wrote this chapter but I had to stop writing the tenth chapter due to school but school is finally over and now I can focus on this story and my other fanfiction that needs to be updated...But I finished writing the Tenth chapter, I have to write the eleventh chapter before I can update it but I'm excited to update the tenth chapter (Grins Evilly.)
Though I will say how surprised I was to read how a lot of you say Himuro but I'm not going to say a thing, I'll let you read the story and see.
