They got to the bar and John looked around for a place to sit, since the place was busy, when he saw someone wave at him. He had forgotten that Phil invited them. John looked at Cody and Ted while pointing to where Phil was waving from. Sighing, John looked back at the two men and they just shrugged their shoulders, not really caring where they sat. John rolled his eyes at them at headed over to Phil and his group.

Phil stood by the pool table and watched John approach him. He tried not to lick his lips as he eyed John. 'Why does John put up with the asswhole? I'd be so much better than him. If John was mine I would never let him out of my sight and he looks so lonely. Even if I was injured, I would still be by his side just so he didn't look so lonely.'

John saw the forlorn look that feel was giving him and tried not to roll his eyes. He knew how Phil felt about and told him multiple times that he didn't have a chance. He felt a hand on his shoulder and when he turned to look, he saw Ted roll his eyes and for the first time in a few hours he smiled.

"Hi, John," Phil said as he gave him a quick hug.

John started to respond but someone else caught his eyes by surprise. He definitely didn't expect him there; Brock.

Brock was looking at him with a mixture of contempt and something he couldn't name. He figured the contempt was because he changed their meeting to tomorrow after his dad dropped the bombshell at dinner. As he walked toward Brock after saying hi to Phil, he felt tension coming from both Cody and Ted. He held his hand out and said hoping to quell the bad feelings coming from everyone, "Hi, Brock. Sorry about switching the meeting until tomorrow, something came up."

Brock took a moment before taking John's hand and then said, "No, problem John. Things happen."

John nodded, went to sit with Ted and Cody and watch Phil and the others finish their game of pool, while Ted went to get them drinks. Ted came back with a couple of beers for John and then asked, "Hey John, Cody and I are going to go dance."

John smiled at his friends and said, "Go on, I'll be fine." He watched while Cody and Ted went out to the dance floor. He sighed sadly and wished that Randy was there. He should've called Randy before, but his brothers and sister were blowing his phone up trying to get a hold of him so he left it at the hotel.

While John watched the pool game and the dance floor, Brock discreetly watched him. He knew John wasn't enjoying himself and he knew why. Brock smirked to himself as he thought of the talks him and Vince had over the week. He had slowly put the ideas in Vince's head that Randy was no good for John. He had told Vince that Randy was only using John and that as soon as he could he would leave John. Brock couldn't believe that Vince thought that little of his son's relationship to believe the things he told him. He told Vince that Randy's been using John's place in the company to get ahead, that he verbally abuses John and that he was making John's life miserable. Now all he had to wait for was the big break up and the start of John's down fall. Once that happened, he could bring John closer to his own family and the way Paul was acting should make it easier. After all, John couldn't hurt a still grieving, slightly delusional hold man, now could he. Brock was happy; he was getting closer to what he wanted.

Ted looked over and saw how miserable John was. Quickly, he looked at his watch and saw that he still had time to make a phone call. He sighed and leaned toward Cody whispering in his ear, "Codes, I have to make a phone call and I think it's time to go. I'll go see if I can get us a taxi too."

"Awe, but," Cody started to argue, but then noticed that John looked miserable, "ok, I'll go get John and you tell the big lug to hurry up."

Ted smiled as he watched his boy run up to John and tell him it was time to go. He walked out and dialed a number.

Cody approached John and said, "Hey John. We're ready to go. Ted went to get us a taxi."

John smiled, nodded and walked out with Cody. He was happy to be away from the crowd and going back to the hotel. All he wanted to do was sleep and call his baby in the morning.

Brock saw the sad smile on John's face as he walked out and felt something stir inside him. He frowned, shocked that he felt something other than just wanting John knocked off his pedestal. He decided it was time for him to leave also. He needed somewhere quiet to think over his plan and get rid of whatever this feeling was. Brock might have to speed his plan up.

The taxi and Ted were waiting for them when they walked out. They got in the taxi and John closed his eyes. The argument at dinner came back to John's mind and he felt wetness at the corner of his eyes. Angrily, he wiped them dry and looked at his friends. Ted had his arms wrapped around Cody, who was half asleep leaning against him. It reminded John of how he and Randy were.

With new determination in his voice, he said, "Don't ever let anyone come between you two."

Ted smiled, happy to see the old John come through for the first time that night. "Don't worry I won't," he answered.
