Dipper and Pacifica sat together at the bar on a rainy Friday evening, after Dipper had already finished work. They were still trying to repair their relationship. Even though they had made progress, there was still something missing. The knowledge that their first kiss wasn't really their first kiss. The knowledge that someone, somewhere out there wanted them to be apart.
"Two drinks, compliment of that man over there." the bartender said, handing Dipper and Pacifica two drinks.
"That's odd." Dipper said. He picked up one of the drinks and gave it a taste.
The man hurried over. "No, no no. This one's for you!" he said, handing him the other drink."
"Why does it matter? And why did you give us these drinks, anyway?" Pacifica asked.
"They're..a new recipe of mine. I'd like you to try them out." the man said.
"Why can't I drink this one?" Dipper asked.
"Uh, because the other one is alcoholic, and I wasn't sure if she was over twenty one." the man said.
"Then why would I be in a bar?" Pacifica asked.
"You know what? Never mind with these drinks. I need to go." the man said, swiping the drinks, and hurrying off.
"What the heck was that?" Dipper asked.
"I have no idea. Was he just crazy, or was he trying to sell something, or was he trying to slip us a mickey?" Pacifica asked.
"I'm not sure. Something about it just felt really wrong." Dipper said.
That wasn't the only strange incident of the week. Dipper was at the bar by himself, right after his shift, relaxing with a drink. A drunk man next took him took a sip of Dipper's drink by mistake. He immediately became sick. Luckily, he survived, but he had to have his stomach pumped. Chemical analysis revealed that the drink had been tampered with. Dipper was questioned, but suspicion was quickly focused off of him, because Dipper had been the one to call 911, give CPR, and effectively save his life. Additionally, it was his drink to begin with. The consensus was that someone at the bar had poisoned the drink, but nobody knew who.
When Dipper told this story to Pacifica, she became concerned.
"That's weird. Do you think that has some connection to the incident with that shady guy when we were at the bar?" Pacifica suggested.
"Maybe. I mean, the drink was actually mine. The guy just mistakenly took a sip of it." Dipper said
"You don't think...someone's been trying to poison you?" Pacifica said worriedly.
"Maybe. It could've been a mistake, but the chemical analysis said that that drink was poisoned intentionally." Dipper said.
"God, why would anyone want to do that to you?" Pacifica asked.
"I haven't a clue. Maybe I did something that I forgot when I lost my memories." Dipper said.
"Your memories...maybe the same person who stole your memories is the person who spiked the drink!" Pacifica said.
"That's a possibility. Who would it be, though? The only person I know that wants me dead is Gideon, and he's in Alcatraz. If he had broken out, we'd have heard about it." Dipper said.
Pacifica hugged Dipper. "I'm really worried about you. And about us. Why did someone take our memories?"
Dipper held Pacifica. "It's okay. It's okay."
"Is it done?" Mr. Northwest asked on the phone
"No. Some drunkard at the bar took the drink instead." Dr. X replied.
"What? That's your second try!" Mr. Northwest said furiously.
"Could we maybe think of another way to handle this issue?" Dr. X said.
"Yeah, I'll tell you a way! Since you can't seem to make the elixir work, you're going to take your little friend, and you're going to use it to rid the world of that man once and for all!" Mr. Northwest said.
"But I'll be caught!" Dr. X said.
"Don't you understand? I have money on my side! My family has gotten away with countless crimes. This is just a flash in the pan." Mr. Northwest said.
"I..I don't think I can do this." Dr. X said.
"So be it. Just remember, you can't do anything to protect your family." Mr. Northwest said.
Dr. X sighed. "Fine, I'll do this. But you can't make me do anything like this again."
"Deal. Have it done by Monday." Mr. Northwest said.
"Okay. Monday." Dr. X replied.
