Chapter 9
Authors note: Why thank you, for your lovely reviews, I really enjoyed reading them :) and you guy's, I know you probs hate me for being the worst at updating and I don't even have an excuse! I've just not been feeling writing and have been reading a lot more. But anyway, there's more of the kids this time but still, I hope you like the chapter :) and I've tried out a couple of new things this chap... xxx
"Cheers, to a successful inspection." Christine smiled at her colleagues, clinking her glass of orange juice with their glasses.
The staff had decided to go for a drink as a way to celebrate after a decent inspection.
"We'll have to find a way to reward the students. Keep them on side eh?" Simon added.
"We could have a fair. Each form group could run their own stool and it's a perfect way to earn money." Vanessa suggested.
"Yeah, that sounds great." Christine agreed.
"I'm starting to believe that this merger wasn't such a bad idea after all." Nikki half laughed.
"Well, yeah, it's probably a hell of a lot more enjoyable with your new girlfriend there with you every step of the way." Hector remarked, smiling with a plastic smile.
"Grow up mate." Simon gave him a look that showed he was unimpressed.
"Hector, may we talk? It's regarding the resilience camp." Sue asked, already starting to stand up.
"Sure." Hector got up and followed Sue round the corner so they had more privacy.
"I don't understand you Hector, one minute you're being lovey and then the next you've got eyes for Nikki!" Sue waved her arms wildly.
"Calm down would you? I never said I was fully over Nikki."
"You did, up until she and Vanessa got together. So you're just stringing me along are you?" Sue laughed harshly.
Hector sighed, "No, look, it's complicated. I really like you Sue, can you please not force this?" Hector requested.
"Fine." Sue huffed.
"Thanks for helping me with my English homework." Kacey smiled up at her best friend.
"Please, I'm only doing this cos you can't afford to get another detention otherwise you and Harls going on that date will seem non-existent." Paisley replied.
"You seemed unusually pally with Shannon today." Kacey pointed out, deciding to change the subject.
"You jealous that she ain't obsessed with you anymore?" Paisley teased, raising her eyebrows.
"When was she ever obsessed? We're just good friends, like you, Hannah and Tara."
Good friends eh? Paisley thought internally.
"Yeah," She smiled. "So anyway, what are you and Harls? Boyfriend and girlfriend?"
"Whoa, no way!" Kacey exclaimed.
Paisley sighed, "But you both like each other, must be torture convincing yourselves daily that you're just friends."
"I just don't want to force anything, if it's real it'll happen naturally." Kacey smiled happily.
"Wow Kace, there's love hearts flying out of your arse." Paisley laughed to which Kacey glared at her.
"Are you gonna help me with Animal Farm or not?" Kacey rolled her eyes.
"One more thing; are you and Lola cool now?"
"Are you joking?!" Kacey laughed at her friend in disbelief.
"Did Barry really set up Mason?" Paisley's voice quietened, afraid of Kacey's reaction.
"Why do you care all of a sudden?" Kacey snapped.
"Why don't you just answer the question?" Paisley retorted.
"I'm not dealing with this." Kacey got up off Paisley's bed and gathered her books. "Talk to me when you've stopped being a bitch."
Kacey walked out of the bedroom and out of the house, feeling rather pissed off with her friend.
~Kacey's thoughts~
Paisley's a great friend and all and I don't know what I'd do without her, but she's nosy as hell! Plus, she has a serious meddling problem. Sometimes I wonder if she's a spy or something. I bet Lola opened her gob and said something to Paisley, and now she's not gonna drop it until she gets answers. Yes, Barry did set up Mason; the drugs weren't his. Mason probably knows that Barry and Lola had a secret relationship back in Havelock and he's probably out for revenge. I mean, I don't entirely blame him, his arch enemy was screwing his younger sister. Ugh, I hate that I got pulled into all of this!

The next day rolled around and the students of Waterloo Road poured into the school, greeting their friends, or trying to finish homework at the last minute. Paisley noticed one of her newly found friends and waved at Hannah.
"Hiya." Paisley smiled as she reached the girl.
"Hi Pais, you alright?"
"Yeah, I'm good." Paisley replied.
"I honestly can't believe that yesterday's inspection went well." Hannah giggled slightly.
"Same here. Well, I was as polite as I could be." Paisley smiled innocently.
"Your cheek bones must have hurt if you kept smiling like that!" Hannah remarked to which Paisley rolled her eyes playfully.
"Hey guys." Shannon smiled as she walked past Hannah and Paisley.
"Hi." Paisley returned the smile.
"You know, me and Tara didn't tell you about Shannon being a lesbian for you to create some crazy plan." Hannah commented once Shannon was out of ear shot.
"I know - but now I'm like two steps ahead of her."
"Dude, why are you so insistent on keeping her and Kacey away from each other?"
"Because, I've waited so long for Kacey and Harley to get together and now Shannon is gonna ruin that all." Explained Paisley.
"If Kacey and Harley have true feelings for each other, Shannon won't be a problem." Hannah reassured.
"Morning girls." Mason approached Kacey, Grace and Paisley as they were standing outside Grace's locker.
Kacey sighed, "I'm out of here. I'll see you in class guys." Kacey walked away, but not before sending Mason a death glare.
Paisley was about to walk after her, and congratulate her on not starting a fight, however, the way that Mason and Grace were staring at each other made her rethink. "So, Mason, what do you want?" Paisley asked in an impatient tone.
"Oh, nothing much..." Mason trailed off, smirking at Grace.
Paisley rolled her eyes and placed herself more in front of Grace so Mason would focus on her. "Well, that's the thing with you isn't it, you never actually have any good reason to be bothering people, do ya?" Paisley stared him in the eye.
"Who said anything about bothering?" Grace piped up. Twirling her shoulder length blonde hair.
"Yeah, listen to your friend Paisley." Mason added in a patronising way.
Paisley sighed delicately and grabbed Grace's arm, "Excuse us," She lead Grace away from Mason and then stopped in front of her. "What's the matter with you?"
"I could ask you the same question Paisley!" Grace shot back.
"You're so bloody obvious; you have feelings for Mason don't ya?!" Paisley twisted her face in disgust.
"So what if I do? What's it to you?"
"Grace, he's Mason! He's like eighteen." Paisley pointed out.
"Seventeen actually." Grace retorted.
Paisley laughed, "You're kidding yourself if you believe he's got actual feelings for you."
Grace saw red.
"How dare you!" She screamed at Paisley.
Paisley knew that arguing back would only make this worse, and people were starting to watch what was going on. "Alright look, I'm sorry, that was out of order."
"Too right it was." Grace scolded, though some of her anger was fading away.
"If you really like him, then fine, obviously I can't stop that. But I can stop you from looking like a complete fool, don't be putty in his hands, there's nothing wrong with playing slightly hard to get. And I mean, if he really likes you too, he won't give up easy." Paisley smiled.
"Yeah, you're right. Thanks Pais." Grace smiled appreciatively.
~Mason's thoughts~
I saw Grace and Paisley arguing. It was quite funny to say the least, I have that affect on girls? Paisley seemed to be having a go at Grace, probably about her treating me with any form of respect. Grace was pretty, yeah, nothing special though. Shame that Jasmine wasn't so gullible cos she's gorgeous and Paisley, well she has a boyfriend and she would never betray her precious Kacey by going out with me. So I settled on Grace, easy to use, easy to cause trouble with too.

"Hey Kace, I never got the chance to apologise to you for my behaviour yesterday. Lola said something and I was just being nosy, I'm sorry." Paisley smiled apologetically that break time.
"It's alright." Kacey smiled back.
"Hey guys." Harley approached the pair.
"Hey, listen, I'm going to go find Jasmine." Paisley picked up her school bag.
"She's in the library." Harley told her with a smile.
"Thanks Harls." Paisley said over her shoulder.
"So, how are we today?" Harley asked Kacey.
"Great. Oh, Harls, I almost forgot, I have great news! I wanted to tell you first as it involves you."
"Oh yeah, what is it?" Harley asked excitedly.
"Mum said that because my behaviour has been so good lately, she'll unground me! People don't know how much of a pushover she really is." Kacey said smugly.
"Really? That's awesome Kace!" Harley smiled.
"I know right. She did say though that if I step out of line at least once, then she'll ground me for double the time I was before. But let's not dwell on that, we can finally do something together." Kacey pointed out.
"Yeah, so I was thinking that we could go bowling? Cos I know you're not the kind of girl who would complain about their nails getting ruined." Harley joked and Kacey laughed and nodded her head.
"You know me too well. Yeah, bowling is great, shall we say...this Saturday?"
"Yeah that's cool. I'll pick you up at five thirty?"
"Fine with me." Kacey smiled.
"I'm totally going to beat you." Harley added playfully.
"Uh, no you're not mate, you're gonna get thrashed!"
"Yeah probably, I'm really bad." Harley admitted with a chuckle.
"Aww really?" Kacey placed her hand on his knee.
"Yeah, just slightly." Harley replied, glancing down at Kacey's hand on his knee.
"I'll go easy on ya, but just that one time." Kacey smiled.
Up until lunchtime the classes ran smoothly, and the students had been informed about the school fair - which they were very excited about - and no serious trouble had occurred. Paisley Harris set her plate down next to her friend Jasmine.
"Alright Pais?" Jasmine looked up from filing her nails.
"I would be, if I hadn't discovered that Grace had a crush on Mason." Paisley gave a look of disgust as she said his name.
"Oh I know babe! I caught them two flirting with each other in the library before I stepped in and told Mason to piss off, well in the Jasmine way of course."
"Well whatever the hell it is that they are doing, it has trouble written all over it." Paisley shook her head, taking a bite of her sausage.
"Do you think he's interested in her?" Jasmine asked.
"Yeah, interested in how long it will take her to drop her pants for him." Paisley spat, harsher than she'd intended. Jasmine raised an eyebrow and Paisley sighed, "Don't give me that look Jas, yeah I know Grace is our mate and we should have some faith in her, but I'm not gonna lie, Mason is a good looking guy and Grace digs the whole bad boy vibe he gives off. She's not gonna listen to a word we say."
"And he's a druggie to top it off." Added Jasmine.
"Yeah." Paisley answered, not really meaning it, she was still trying to figure that part out.
Authors note: So this chapter ends here :) now I'm not gonna promise to update soon because every time I do, it takes me like 2 months! But I hope you enjoyed it anyway, and next chapter will probably have more of the adults if you enjoy them slightly better :) as always, please review :D
