Chapter eight:

The place in front of them is a nice cozy looking home that's not too big but not too small.

Just the right size to be cozy and a little spacious for a single man.

"This is the destination I wanted to take you to. You'll need a place to stay the night." The elderly man explains.

"You are quite kind." Soichiro says.

"It's no problem." The elderly man waves it off then as they reach the home he takes the key from the mailbox beside the doorbell. He unlocks the door and lets the others inside of his cozy home.

Brutalight sits at the table for the conference of the elements of insanity. "We need to make our next move." He says.

"That's easy." ShoutingRiver looks bored. "Tomorrow we will move in to take their lives."

Brutalight smirks insanely. "Yes. We truly need to get this going." He agrees. "Those other world people had better enjoy their final hours as tomorrow they will be dead and gone."

The others in the room all smirk in an insane evil way like Brutalight.

Yes it's time for the cats to catch the mice.

….

The entrance way is a cool light blue colour with the back of the door being white with a white doorframe even though the outside is brown to go along with the brown cement brick looking outside wall.

There is a single pair of shoes placed along the wall neatly and the floor of the entryway is a cheap white tile look.

The elderly man takes off his shoes nearly putting them along the wall in front of his only other pair of shoes.

The group follow his example as best as they can then they follow him inside.

The house is nice. There is a more pink to mahogany colour to the walls around the rest of the house with some that look like a mix as if he had used all the paint but couldn't go to get more. The furniture is a white with brown and dark yellow floral pattern that is a little tattered here and there except for one slight dark grey couch with a badly ripped top middle on the front. No T.V.s and the only electricity appears to be only for lightning, plumbing and possibly for the kitchen. There is a mishmash of tile, hard wood and carpet that look like he had tried to use his money wisely when building the house.

"Please make yourselves comfortable." The elderly man says and disappears into the kitchen.

There are sounds of water being poured from the taps into cups.

Some of the group go to help him fill the glasses and take them to everyone.

"I'm sorry I don't have anything else to drink." The elderly man apologizes.

"It's alright." Light says.

Everyone settles down finding a spot they feel comfortable in while being polite obviously.

"Is there anything you can tell us more on the elements of insanity?" Light asks. "The more knowledge we have the more likely we can find a way to defeat them."

"Well." The man settles back into his chair. "There are some that care more about certain ones than the rest. They will go to brutally attacking you with no mercy if you hurt one that they really care about. They can be bad but you don't want to see what they can do when pissed off especially if one they truly hold close to their hearts is hurt." He explains. "So be prepared for that when you go on your mission of suicide."

The group listens and does their best to file the information to use later.

The elderly man explains everything about the elements of insanity and about this that he knows including answering any questions that the group has and when he is done it is getting close to evening since there were some breaks for things like food even though it wasn't a grand feast it would last them till tomorrow with no left overs. "No one would talk to you as I saw since they are so terrified of them. Especially since there was one following you." He finishes.

"I just hope that we were sent to this world to defeat the elements and not join them." Linda says with a held back whimper.

"I think that you need to find the portal back to your world." The elderly man says. "I believe that it is how you will get back."

"Well the mirror doesn't seem to exist here as far as we know." Ide points out.

"The portal is usually not the same thing that brought you to this other world." The elderly man says. "After all I have evidence to support my theory of that. After all something may be too advanced in one world but old junk in another. Wolds are not all the same."

"Alright that makes sense." Aizawa says. "So all we have to do is figure out what is the portal to our world."

"Can't be too hard." Matsuda says grinning.

"And hopefully we can take down the elements of insanity." Light adds.

The elderly man shakes his head with a sigh. "You group truly have a death wish and are on a mission of suicide." He says to Light's words.

….

The group and the elderly man kind of hung out and the elderly man helped to figure out the sleeping arraignments as best they can do with the limited space.

Night has fallen and the only light is the moonlight.

It looks like everyone is asleep….. But Light tosses and turns until finally he gets up heading to the kitchen to grab a small glass of water. He drinks it then washes the cup to be nice before putting it away. He sighs softly and goes to the small kitchen table sitting in the only chair at the table.

Soft footsteps approach and Light turns to see L.

L comes over to Light. "Couldn't sleep?" He asks.

Light nods and slightly glances away. "I just can't stop thinking about the elements of insanity." He says not asking about L not being able to sleep already knowing that L has bad insomnia so it's harder for him to fall asleep which he usually ends up just staying up a lot even when he has a short break from work.

L walks a little past Light then leans against the table.

Light turns to look to L.

"They are evil. We cannot change that." L says.

"But I just can't help but feel sorry for them." Light sighs resting one arm on the dark wood table. "They didn't want to become like this." He says. "I wish there was something we could do for them."

L puts a hand on Lights shoulder. "Fate can be quite cruel at times." He says. "We cannot control it or decide on how things will play out. It was their destiny to become like how they are." He says. "We can make choices but not ones on the path to our destiny. That is unavoidable." He watches Light's eyes. "Sometimes we have to make decisions for the greater good even if it pains us or makes us regret to do so."

Light looks down. "I know." He says.

L shifts and suddenly brings Light into a hug. "Things will be alright." He says trying to be encouraging.

Light hugs back with a nod.

Mello had been watching since about half way through. He then turns away and heads to the living room that has people sleeping since everyone just kind of slept where they could on carpet or on couches. He is looking down but as soon as his feet touch carpet he looks up. He pauses when he sees Near standing at one of the windows just watching the outside.

Near is bathed in moonlight and it almost makes him appear to softly glow very softly but just the right amount to take your breath away which is exactly what happens to Mello.

Mello turns and tries to ignore it as he heads to where he is supposed to be sleeping but halfway there he stops and looks back to Near.
