The Sky's Dawn
Chapter 9: Shock
"Dawn, NO!" Zero, Yuki, Riku and Sora yelled but she leaped off the window.
Dawn sprinted through the rain in town. Her heart was beating so quickly with fear and worry. The whole town was deserted which added to her tension. She ran through the town looking through the many alleys.
She finally got to an opening of one specific alley where she first kissed Roxas. She saw Kaito being surrounded by around 20 Level E's. She gasped to see him on his knees covered with blood and scratches. The vampires were all men and looked up as they sniffed.
"I smell her." One stated and they agreed.
Her lavender eyes widened and she hid behind the wall.
The silver haired teen ran down the next alley and hopped onto the dust bin. She climbed onto the stairs which went around to the alley where Kaito was. She stared at the wall which was opposite from her. Dawn needed to distract the vampires in order to get Kaito out of there. She aimed the gun at the wall and shot.
Instantly, she got out of sight and the Level E's dashed to the wall. Dawn ran and hopped down onto the next alley. She landed in gracefully in a crouch and rushed to Kaito without making a sound.
He looked up and aimed his gun. He lowered his gun to see Dawn feeling relieved. She placed her index finger on her lips and walked up to him. She kneeled down next to him and placed her hands onto his shoulders. She leaned closer so he could hear her.
"Are you okay?" She whispered extremely quietly and he nodded with a smile. "C'mon, I'm taking you home." She helped him stand up.
"Why, hello…" A voice stated and they looked up. There were the Level E's standing there and they sneered at her. They licked their lips and smelt the scent of Dawn as their eyes turned crimson. "…Dawn. Where do you think you're going?"
"How do you know my name?" She growled.
"Answer my question first." The vampire stated and one lost control. He ran towards her but she shot his head not taking her glaring eyes off the vampire she was talking to. That vampire who was shot turned into dust. "You look extremely delicious, Dawn." Dawn and Kaito growled at this.
"Don't you dare talk to me like you know me!" She shouted and he dashed towards her. She punched him and got out her dagger. She stabbed his chest and he turned into dust.
2 Level E vampires ran up to her and she started fighting them off. But they were very strong Level E's…as if they were trained. They started scratching her with their claws, but she didn't give up. She continued fighting whilst protecting Kaito.
The next 14 Level E vampires had knives on them. Dawn too used her weapons against them. She got slashed many times and Kaito yelled. He got up and started fighting but fell onto his knees.
"Kaito!" She exclaimed and ran up to him. "Are you alright?"
"Dawn…" He looked up at her. "BEHIND YOU!" She turned around and blocked his attack.
Cross Academy…
"That's it!" Sora yelled and they looked at him. "I won't wait any longer. There's something dangerous out there and I won't let her get hurt."
"Do you even know who you're dealing with? Their Level E vampires; they'll drink the living life out of you!" Zero growled and the brown haired teen walked to the window as he watched the thunder.
"I don't care about that. The only thing I care about is her safety. So what if I die, as long as Dawn is alive." He stated and Zero stared at him…maybe he misunderstood the brown haired teen.
"Sora, I'm going with you." Riku said.
"No, leave it to me. Let me help Dawn myself." Sora mumbled.
"Dawn is my best friend too, Sora." He countered back and his best friend looked at him with a smile.
"I've caused her too much pain, Riku. Even this won't make it up. But I just…" The silver haired teen got what he was trying to say and nodded.
"Go on, Sora." He said and Sora jumped out of the window.
"What if something bad happens to him? The Level Es are dangerous." Yuki stated.
"If worst comes to worst…" The cyan eyed boy stuffed his hands into his pockets. "Dawn will know. Sora and Dawn's hearts are connected. One will know when the other needs help or are in danger."
The alley…
Dawn was getting weaker and weaker in terms of stamina. Now it was only 3 against 1 with Dawn covered in scratches and gashes.
Her weapons were on the floor with her guns having no ammo. A vampire ran towards her and he fought him with hand on hand combat.
"When we bring you with us, he will be so pleased and happy. Then he shall make you one of us and you will be his slave." Her eyes widened at this and her face went pale.
"Who are you talking about?!" Dawn yelled.
"Our Master." He grinned insanely and she screamed with anger. She punched his face and she did a cartwheel towards her weapon. Quickly, she picked it up and he turned into a pile of dust as she stabbed him.
Now it was only 2 on 1 and Dawn was breathing heavily with exhaustion. Kaito stood up and joined her side.
"Kaito…" She trailed off.
"We're a team now." He mumbled and smiled at her. A tear fell down her cheek at this. He took out his sword and she held onto hers.
They started to fight together and Kaito succeeded with a weaker vampire. But Dawn was fighting off the strongest that was in their group.
He kept on dodging her sword and she was getting irritated. He scratched her waist and she screamed.
"Dawn!" Kaito shouted and the vampire grabbed her wrist and held her against him with her facing Kaito. He held onto her tightly and she tried to break free but couldn't.
"I don't think the Master would mind if I have a little sip of sweet nectar." He mumbled and opened his mouth which revealed his fangs. The silver haired girl's fringe covered her eyes and she smirked.
Just as the disgusting vampire's fangs were about to make contact with her neck, the choker glowed red and the vampire received a powerful shock from it. He rolled onto the ground and when he looked up, he was met with Dawn's sword on his chest.
"Goodbye and burn in hell!" She yelled and slashed his throat. This left a pile of dust which flew away.
"Dawn…" Kaito mumbled and she looked at him.
"Kaito!" She exclaimed and ran to him.
He wrapped his arms around her and hugged her tightly. She did so too and buried her face in his neck. The rain fell on them and the thunder continued.
"I was so worried." She whispered with tears falling down her cheeks.
"You came." He sighed with relief. "Thank you, Dawn."
"You don't have to thank me." She said. "You're going to be my husband, I have to protect you." He pulled away from her and held her face. Kaito stared down into her sparkling amethyst eyes. She looked up into his brown eyes and blinked.
"I love you, so much." He whispered and she leaned closer to him with her forehead leaning against his.
"Kaito…" She trailed off and felt her heart break even more, feeling so much guilt.
He closed his eyes and pressed his lips against hers in a divine and loving kiss. Her eyes slowly closed and she kissed him back. Emotions like love, lust and guilt were within the kiss but it made it seem so lovely and beautiful.
From on top of a building 2 people were standing and watching. No, actually, one was a Pureblood and the other was a Heartless.
They both wore these black coats with hoods but didn't wear the hoods. The Pureblood had extremely pale skin, dark blue eyes and raven black silky hair which ended at his chin. He watched the silver haired girl with a very sick and twisted smirk. The vampire licked his lips and as he smelt the scent of Dawn's blood, his eyes flashed red.
Behind the Pureblood was Ansem Seeker of Darkness who watched down with an emotionless face.
"That's Dawn, isn't it Kuro?" Ansem said.
"Yes, that is my lovely Dawn. Look how she has grown into a gorgeous young woman." Kuro's voice was charming yet sinister. "But may I ask how do you know her?"
"Let's just say that destiny had made our paths cross." He stated. "But those vampires didn't work."
"Ansem, you do not understand my plan. This is just a little treat for my sweet Dawn. I shall have her back after she ran away from him nearly a decade ago." He said and turned around. Kuro walked up to the wall and opened up a Corridor of Darkness. "Do not go easy on her."
"Don't worry, Kuro; I won't." Ansem smirked and the vampire left. Ansem looked down and clicked his fingers.
Dawn pulled away from Kaito and felt something that wasn't right. She turned around and her eyes widened.
Neoshadow Heartless started appearing from the ground and she gasped. Kaito's grip around Dawn tightened when he saw them.
"What are those things?" He asked.
She took out a silver pipe whistle from her jacket pocket. The silver haired teen knew that this was an emergency.
Dawn blew the whistle and after a few moments, they heard galloping. White Lily came to her and neighed as he leaped through the Heartless. He rubbed his head against her head.
"Dawn!" Sora exclaimed as he ran up to them.
"Sora, what are you doing here?" She asked with furrowed eyebrows.
"I had a feeling that something strange was coming and look." He said directing at the Heartless. "And I won't leave. You can't make me." She sighed at this with defeat. The silver haired girl turned to soon to be fiancé.
"Kaito, you need to get out of here." She stated as she pushed him onto the horse.
"But what about you?" He asked and she looked up at him with sparkling eyes.
"Please…I just need you to be safe. Don't worry about me." He leaned closer to her and pecked her lips. She closed her eyes and kissed back as she stroked his cheek lovingly. But inside she felt so much worst doing this in front of the boy she truly loved.
Sora watched the couple and felt his heart crack and break. He had tears falling down his cheeks and shook his head; he couldn't show Dawn that he was upset.
Dawn pulled away from him and ruffled her dear horse's hair.
"White Lily, take Kaito to the Academy. Run as fast as you can." He nodded and galloped off.
She turned to Sora and walked up to him. "I'll be fine by myself." She stated but he shook his head.
"Dawn, I won't let you do this on your own. Come on; let's fight the Heartless, together!" He exclaimed and she nodded.
"Right!" She shouted and they turned to the Neoshadows back to back with Sora's Oathkeeper and Oblivion Keyblades in his hands.
"Dawn, take one of my Keyblades." He said but she shook her head.
"No, I'll fight them with my own weapons." She stated.
"You're guns are out of bullets aren't they?" He asked.
"I have my sword and I have my heart." Sora couldn't help but smile at this. "My heart is my strongest weapon of all; this is what my mother has always taught me."
They dashed towards the Heartless and fought them. For Sora it was the regular day to day routine. However Dawn struggled…a lot. It was strange, because most of the Neoshadows were attacking Dawn more. But Sora wouldn't let that happen.
A Neoshadow slashed her body and she was losing so much blood. She was on the floor and the rain was pouring onto her. She looked up at the dark cloudy sky and her vision was getting blurry. The brown haired teen looked up with wide eyes and yelled out her name. He finished the 5 Neoshadows in front of him in a second and ran as fast as he possibly could to Dawn.
Cross Academy:
Riku's cyan eyes widened and he stood up from his chair in the Headmaster's office. He ran to the window to see the storm getting worse and the others stared at him.
"The Heartless!" He shouted.
"What?" Kaien asked not believing him.
"They're out there and Sora and Dawn are fighting them." He looked at the ground and gasped whilst looking up. His face turned into hate. "ANSEM!" He bellowed loudly with hatred and anger that the others got scared. Then they heard laughing.
"Ah so you felt my presence." He stated.
"I could smell that dark stench from a mile away! What do you want here?" He asked.
"You will find out very soon." Ansem said. "But what you should be worrying about is your best friends Sora and Dawn." Their eyes widened.
"Leave them alone!" Riku shouted. "When I get out of here, I will kill you Ansem."
"Hmph, that's if you try. Good luck with that. You will not be seeing your best friends again. It will be just like 3 years prior. Goodbye."
Riku's eyes widened and his breathing came out shaky. He shook his head and screamed. He summoned his Keyblade and ran to the window. But when he made contact with the window, there was something which repelled against anyone who touched it.
"What just happened?!" Zero asked with wide eyes.
"I sense that there is some sort of spell or repel on the academy which will not allow anyone to leave." Kaname stated.
"We have to do something. We can't stay here like this. If this carries on, then they'll be lost out in the other words." He said. "I can't stay here like this. I need to do something to help them. I've already lost them once and I won't lose them again. I can't lose them like I lost her!" He shouted with tears in his eyes.
Kairi stared at him with woeful eyes and a frown; he was talking about…her. The others stared at him clueless.
"Riku!" The said boy heard a familiar voice which was soft like silk and sweet like honey yet so mature.
There stood a beautiful young woman with brown wavy hair which reached her upper thigh, porcelain skin, red-brown eyes, long eyelashes, curvy womanly figure and she stood at 6ft. She wore a simple black dress fitted to her waist and spreading out and the dress ended above her knees. The dress had a silky sash around the waist. The brown haired young woman was drenched from head to toe and she held her 4 inch black heels in her hands.
"Katsumi!" He shouted, dropped her shoes and she ran to him. Tears fell down their faces. "I'm sorry for going into darkness and hurting you." She shook her head at this with a small smile.
"No, it's alright. Those unfortunate events brought something good upon me; I have found my home and family." She said but her smile dropped.
"It's so good to see you again, you haven't changed." He said.
"I have Riku. There is something you must know, the truth about my true nature, my true identity." She stated.
"No matter what you tell me, no matter what you are, I will always accept you." Kaname and Yuki looked at Riku and smiled.
"I am a Vampire, a Pureblood vampire and heir to the throne of the vampire race. I am Katsumi Haruka Kuran, the eldest child and daughter of Haruka and Juri Kuran and Yuki is my younger sister." She stated.
Katsumi was the only descendant from the Kuran family who looked and thought exactly like Kaname Kuran. They both ruled the vampire race together which Yuki agreed to.
Kairi's eyes widened as she stepped back with utter shock.
"Oh my god, you're a vampire?! This changes everything!" She exclaimed.
"And I never liked you, Kairi." The vampire stated bluntly.
"You're still the old Katsumi I know." He said and held her hands. She gulped at this contact and knew it wasn't right. "I missed you…" He murmured and she remembered their relationship when they were 15; they both were more than friends.
"Where's Sora?" She asked.
"He's…" He trailed off. Katsumi turned around noticed that her best friend was not in the room. She walked up to her dearest ancestor, Kaname who was like an elder brother to her.
"Kaname, where's Dawn?" She asked with sparkling eyes. He looked down and frowned then looked at her.
"She is out in the town battling Level E's. I also sense that she is…" But she interrupted with wide eyes.
"With Sora and fighting the Heartless. I also sense a powerful source of darkness." Katsumi turned to Riku. "Ansem, he is in the town. We must help them."
The 18 year-old vampire ran towards the window, but Yuki grabbed onto her sister's wrist.
"No, Katsumi! If you try to leave, you'll get an electric shock." She turned to her younger sister. "There's this kind of repel on the academy!" She said and Katsumi looked out of the window with worry. Yuki placed her hand on her shoulder.
"Sora…Dawn…be careful out there." She said with a tear falling down her face.
The alley…
"Cure!" Sora shouted as a quartet of floral bells sprinkled healing light onto Dawn. He held her in his arms and she opened her eyes. "You okay?" He asked. She nodded and he took her hands whilst helping her to stand up.
Suddenly they heard laughing which sent chills down their spines; so familiar and scary. They held onto each other tightly.
There before their eyes appeared the man who possessed their best friend, who nearly destroyed their home with darkness and he was the reason for their separation. They stared at him with immense shock. It was Ansem Seeker of Darkness…
