Sorry its been so Long everyone. I just now got my account back. So i decided I'd give you all a little something special. Anyways I hope you all enjoy it.
Holo and Lawrence walked to the local tavern for breakfast. Nyohira was known for its extravagant food, for almost dirt cheap prices. So it was no suprise the tavern was already packed by the time the couple arrived.
The couple found an empty table near the back of the tavern. Lawrence pulled a seat out for Holo. She gracefully sat down, then Lawrence took his seat.
"What a gentleman. Pulling my seat out for me, and such. So what will we be dining on this fine morning?" Holo asked, almost too politely. Lawrence just shrugged it off. He knew Holo could be polite when she wanted too.
"That's entirely up to you milady. We can order anything you want." After yesterday's affair, Lawrence decided he would be generous, so he could hopefully make amends, for the trouble he put Holo through.
"Then I want some fine wine, as well as pork, with a side of goat's cheese. I also wouldn't mind some wheat bread." Holo spared no haste. She knew exactly what she wanted.
"As you wish." Lawrence raised a hand to signal to the waitress that they were ready to order.
After about a minute or so, the waitress arrived at their table. She was a rather large, and bulky woman. She would have to be, given the fact that she has to do heavy lifting on a daily basis.
"What can I get for the lovely couple?" The waitress asked with a kind, and gentle smile, somewhat unfitting for a woman of her stature.
"Yes. I would like two mugs of your finest wine, some honey glazed ham, goat's cheese, and some sweet wheat bread." Holo paid no attention to the extra details Lawrence added to the order. She trusted Lawrence when it came to the food she would devour.
"Ahh. A big spender. Im guessing it's to keep this fine young damsel satisfied. It can be a tough job to keep a woman as fine as her happy. You're a lucky man. I'll be right back with you're order." Holo couldn't help but smile at the compliment that the waitress gave her.
The waitress walked away, and Holo started giving Lawrence a sly, yet oddly seductive glance. "You really do spoil me. You know that right? I might just get used to the fine life. What would you do then, my dear Lawrence?" Holo asked playfully.
Lawrence noticed, and decided to play along. "Why, I would shower you with the finest gifts, until I went bankrupt. Anything to keep milady happy." Lawrence jeered, but there was some truth to it. He would walk to the ends of the earth and back to keep Holo happy.
"You flatter me. I would not require such gifts, because you are the sweetest, and only gift, I'll ever need." Hole spoke honestly, and sweetly.
"Now it seems you are the one who is flattering me." Lawrence started blushing. Holo noticed this and decided to take advantage.
Holo put a hand on each of Lawrence's cheeks, and pulled his face closer to hers. Lawrence couldn't control the scarlet shade that came to his face. His face continued to get closer and closer to Holo's, until finally their lips connected.
After a few seconds Holo broke the kiss, then out of nowhere s huge applause came from all around. The tavern was filled with shouts of joy and glee. Apparently, everyone saw what transpired, and decided to congratulate Lawrence on his crowning achievement.
Lawrence couldn't help but blush an even brighter red. He stood up and took a bow, then the tavern settled down over a relativley short period of time. Not too long after, the couple's order arrived.
"You two enjoy yourselves. But not too much, ya hear?" The waitress walked away chuckling.
When Lawrence got the chance he looked over at Holo, who had a big toothy grin, plastered across her face.
"What are you smiling so proudly for?" Lawrence almost regretted asking, but curiosity got the better of him.
"Tis' nice to know that, too this day, I can still find ways to make your face red with embarrassment." Holo couldn't stop smiling. It was as if she were a child who got a new toy.
"You did catch me off guard. Oh, I almost forgot. Holo, do you happen to know what time of year it is?" Lawrence asked excitedly.
"No. I can't say that I do. I do know it's winter, but nothing special comes to mind. Why do you ask?" Holo was genuinley curious. Why would Lawrence ask such a wierd question?
"I thought you of all people would know of the upcoming pagan holiday. December 25th. The supposed day Christ was born, but for pagans, it has a different meaning. It's the day followers of the pagan religion, worship the Birthday of the Invincible sun. The pagan god of the sun. They have a festival and give each other gifts. I thought maybe we could celebrate as well." Lawrence took a drink of his wine as he explained the details to Holo.
"That does sound interesting. I'm fine with it, so long as you are." Holo started to eat a piece of ham. She smiled when she took the first bite. She must have really enjoyed it.
"Then it's settled. We only have a two days to get ready, but I can make it work." Lawrence gave a big smile, then he too, started to eat.
After breakfast the couple left the tavern, and decided to explore the town. All the while, ideas for a gift to give Holo was floating through Lawrence's mind. Holo was doing the same, her thought process was more visible however. Her face would contort and twist at every thought.
"Are you ok Holo? You seem troubled." Lawrence asked curiously.
"Yes. I am fine. I am just thinking." Holo kept her sentence short, so she could get back on her train of thought.
"If it's about what gift to get me, then don't worry yourself too much. Ill be happy with whatever you have to offer. After all, its the thought that counts." The couple passed a booth with fine jewelry as it's main product. Just then it hit Lawrence. He knew what he would get Holo.
"If you say so. I'll try not to think too hard, but I would rather you have a gift befitting of your status." Holo said with a smile.
"Oh yeah? May I ask what status you speak of?" Lawrenxe asked to keep the conversation going.
"The status of my king of course. I am the queen, and every queen needs her king." Holo turned to face Lawrence as she started walking backwards.
"Well that's flattering. I'm truly glad you think of me so highly. Anyways, we should get back to the inn. We've been walking for hours. I'm sure you must be tired."
"Yes. I am quite exhausted. When we get back I shall take a nap."
Holo and Lawrence made it back to their room. Holo quickly took off her robe, as well as her shoes, then got in the bed. She snuggled up under the blankets and Lawrence kissed her forehead. Holo almost immediately dozed off. It didn't really matter if she was tired or not, she could fall asleep instantly on command. Lawrence took the opportunity to go back out and purchase his gift for Holo.
Lawrence walked back to the jewlery booth they passed earlier. He was looking around for something Holo would like. The merchant running the booth at the time walked up to Lawrence. The man had long white hair and a beard to match. He was wearing a red coat, and was on the rather large side.
"Can I help you with something sir?" The merchant asked with a kind smile.
"Yes. Im looking for a ring. I plan to propose to my companion on the upcoming holiday, and I want it to be special. Something she'll never forget." Lawrence explained to the merchant.
"I see. You need a ring that matches this girl's beauty. I saw you two walking by earlier. I think I have just the ring."
The merchant turned around and picked up a ring that was out of sight. It must have been special if it wasn't on showcase for everyone to see.
"Here you go. A ring made of the purest gold, and a ruby that was mined from the most bountiful mine around." The merchant couldn't help but smile when he looked at the glimmer of the ring.
"Wow. This ring truly is astonishing. How much would you like for it?" Lawrence quickly got down to business. He knew the asking price of the ring would be high, but Lawrence trusted in his merchant skills to talk down the price.
"For you, I'll take five trenni silver coins. You can't put a price on young love, so that's the best I can do for you."
"Really?! Only five trenni? Are you sure?" Lawrence couldn't believe the man would give it to him for so cheap.
"Yes. I am sure. Tis' the season of giving. Just think of this as my gift to you." The man smiled a big jolly smile.
"Thank you very much sir. I'm truly grateful." Lawrence pulled out his coin purse and produced five trenni silver coins.
"Ho ho ho! No need to be so humble lad. It's the least I could do for a couple in love." The man laughed heartedly. His eyes had a glimmer that could only be matched by the stars themselves.
"If you say so. By the way. May I ask your name?" Lawrence wanted to know the name of the man who did him such a kind favor.
"Why of course. My name is Nicholas. Nick for short. Now hurry on back to that beautiful young lady Lawrence." Nick handed Lawrence the ring, and sent him on his way. Lawrence gladly took the ring and started walking back.
Lawrence made it half way down the street before the realization hit him. How did Nick know his name? Lawrence quickly turned around to face the booth, only to find out that it wasn't there anymore, and Nick was nowhere to be found.
"That's very strange. I could have sworn there was a booth there. Maybe I'm just imagining things. Anyways I have to get back to Holo."
Lawrence walked back to the inn to find Holo still sleeping the day away. He decided he would go to sleep as well.
The holiday came quickly for the young couple. Holo and Lawrence woke up early that morning to exchange their gifts. Holo was the first to give her gift.
"Close your eyes Lawrence. I want it to be a suprise." Holo said enthusiastically.
"Ok ok. They're closed." Lawrence heard some rustling, and an odd sound. It was about two minutes before the sounds stopped.
"Ok. You can open your eyes Lawrence."
Lawrence opened his eyes to see Holo with a red ribbon tied into a bow on Holo's head.
"You're present is me. You can have all of me in its entirety, all to yourself." Holo had a big smile on her face. Lawrence couldn't help but smile either.
"Ok, now its my turn. Close your eyes." Holo did as she was told.
"Ok. Now open them." Holo opened her eyes to see Lawrence on one knee, with a beautiful ring in his hand. "Holo, will you make me the happiest wolf alive, and marry me?"
Holo could hardly control the tears that came to her eyes. These weren't tears of sadness, but tears of joy. She quickly hugged Lawrence tightly and kissed him. When she broke the kiss she gave him her answer.
"Yes. Yes. Yes! A thousand times yes!"
Lawrence started to shed his own tears of joy. He hugged Holo tightly and gave her a kiss of his own. The couple has finally sealed their fate together. Their lives will now forever be entwined. For good, or for worse.
