Hi folks, here's another chapter. Enjoy =)
Chapter Nine:
Like Bella and the pack didn't have enough to worry about with Edward now they had the Jake and Embry brothers. Bella had tried to comfort Embry the night they found out but he wasn't having it. He went up to the bedroom, and laid in bed for maybe a half hour before he left without saying anything to her. She was stayed up in his room for almost two hours before she realized he wasn't going be coming back any time soon. She couldn't even imagine how he had managed to stay human for so long.
She had grown accustom to sleeping next to Embry, so much so that she gave up trying to get sleep. At first his snoring was a little annoying but now she missed it. She was frustrated and knew he didn't have his cell phone. She walked down the steps to see if there was anyone up and in the living room but for once it was completely empty. She went into the kitchen hoping maybe someone was in there but that to was empty. This pack house was never empty.
She made the decision to get in her car and make the short journey to her dads house. She knew she wasn't suppose to leave La Push, but the whole pack left her in the house alone. Bella needed to know if her father knew Embry was also Billy's son. Bella pulled in front of her dads house not surprised at all that his cruiser was parked out front. She could see the TV light through the window and made the journey into her living room. Her father was surprised to see her.
"Bells," her dad said as he watched her walk into the house. "What are you doing here? I thought you were suppose to leave La Push?" He stood up and pulled her into a hug.
"Something happened tonight. You know how the pack can't have children because the rightful Alpha isn't in place. We all thought it was Jacob, but it isn't. We had Carlisle run blood work on the five wolves who have imprints, and the results were something none of us expected. Carlisle told us two out of the five of them are blood brothers. We all assumed it was Sammy, and Em because it made the most sense. Sammy dad is a dead beat. Did you know we were wrong? Did you know Embry real father is Billy?" Bella questioned her father. She watched his facial expression and he looked just as surprised as they all were. So Billy didn't tell anyone about his affair.
"No Billy never mentioned having an affair. I can't believe he would do that. Poor Sarah, I wonder if she ever knew," Charlie spoke. "Where's Embry? How is Jake handling all of this?"
"I don't know where anyone in the pack is, dad. That's how I got here so easily, the pack house is empty," she muttered annoyed.
"You know it isn't safe for you to be here," he muttered. " At least at La Push the treaty kept you safe even if they aren't there."
"Dad, I don't really care. Why would Billy do that?" she asked. She wanted to cry or scream she didn't do either.
"I don't know, Bells. I don't have an answer for you, we need to ask Billy," he muttered. "Why would he do this to Sarah, and Jake? Not to mention Embry."
"Jake isn't the packs rightful Alpha then. The first born son, that makes it Embry," Bella whispered. "Maybe that is the reason why Jake never felt the call to be Alpha, but Embry hadn't either."
" What happened when Jake heard," he asked as they sat down on the couch.
"He looked so sad, so broken. He ran out of the house phased in the yard, shredded his clothes. Sammy had two go after him to make sure he didn't do something stupid. Then Embry went weird. I helped him up to bed, and he laid down staring at the ceiling. He didn't say anything was there maybe a half hour, and then he took off. I don't know where he went. Then I went down to see if I could find anyone in the house, and surprise everyone left," she muttered.
"You know when they get back and realize you are gone, they are going freak. You are in La Push to protect you from Edward," her dad spoke.
She rolled her eyes, "I'm always hiding from some supernatural so it seems. They are going realize I went here."
Bella and her father sat back on the couch and watched some movie that was on the TV. She couldn't really pay attention to it, her mind was somewhere else. She couldn't believe everyone just left her there, alone. As the movie went on Bella fought to keep her eyes open. Maybe she was more tired then she admitted. She eventually fell asleep on the couch next to her father.
When she finally woke up the sun was peaking through the curtains. Bella groaned as she stretched on the couch. Her dad must have covered her as she went upstairs. She hated falling asleep on the couch, she wish he would have woken her up to go up to bed. She rubbed her eyes and finally got off the couch. She was kind of mad she didn't have any missed calls or text messages on her phone.
Bella walked into the kitchen to find a note from her dad.
Bells,
Got called into the office. Didn't want to wake you up. Be safe, and when you wake up go back to La Push.
Love,
Dad
She quickly ate some toast and walked up to the bathroom. She was going grab a quick shower and then avoid her dads advice and head to the bakery. Bella hurried and got dressed and walked to her car. She knew when the pack finally realized she was at the bakery they were going be mad. She had a business to run though.
She looked at the clock and she still had two hours before she had to open the bakery up. It was enough time to make the fresh bake goods. Emily and Kim were given the day off. So it was just Bella today but it shouldn't be too bad. She got into the kitchen and started with the goods.
After she cleaned the counters, the display case, and the tables she looked at the clock. It was time to open the shop. She unlocked the door and was surprised to see Amber standing there alone. After the night she had she wasn't in the mood to deal with Amber. Bella stepped aside to let Amber into the bakery.
"What can I do for you?" Bella asked the younger girl. She was being nice and trying not to let her anger get the best of her.
"I know I wasn't the nicest last night and it's hard for me to admit that maybe what you said wasn't exactly wrong. I was raised with money, and traveling. I was hardly stuck in one place too long, and I have been here for over five years. Jake can't go on vacation because the pack isn't allowed to leave for long vacations," she muttered. "Jake and I are constantly fighting. We are at each others throats."
"That doesn't explain why you are here," Bella spoke. "No offense but I don't trust anything you say after that little incident last night. So what is the real reason you are here?"
"Jake and I may not be getting along right now, but that doesn't mean I don't care about him. After the news last night he took off but I haven't been able to get in contact with him. I went to the pack house and nobody was there. I was going go to ask Rachel but well I doubt she'd tell me anything."
Bella watched the girl wondering if now was a time to worry. "I stayed at my dads last night. I haven't tried calling any of the pack members. I just figured they were trying to deal with what was happening. Have you tired their phones?"
Bella didn't want to waste the time calling everyone if she had already done it. "Yes, and they didn't answer. Even Emily and Kim haven't answered."
"I'm sure it isn't anything to worry about. The pack is able to take care of themselves. Why don't I get you a muffin and some tea." Bella suggested. She wasn't planning on spending the morning with Amber but that looked like how it was going be.
People started coming in to get a baked good and coffee. Bella was getting a little overwhelmed with the rush that she was having a hard time waiting on people and wiping off tables. Next thing she knew Amber was being the counter, "Why don't I help you? Clearly, you are not able to do this by yourself."
Bella looked at her for a minute, she didn't trust her at all. After last night when she flat out denied the help Bella was going offer, and then she's here now. "Fine, but you better not being doing this to screw me over some way. I'm going to give you another chance, even though I'm not sure I should."
Bella went to wiping off the tables while Amber was working the counter and register. This wasn't how she thought the day would end up. Finally, the morning rush died down.
"Thanks," Bella muttered. "I'll pay you."
Amber looked at her for a minute, "You know what the worse thing about you is? That you make it so damn hard to hate you. You are Jake's ex. Hell, Jake still loves you even though he is my mate. I want to hate you, I really do, but you make it really hard. At least with Rachel it was easy because she messed with my food. Emily and Kim were easy to hate because even though they thought they were being nice to me they kept bringing up how much they missed you. You were the center of the pack, and I took that away from you. Do you know how hard that was to deal with? Everyday someone saying they have no leads on where you went."
Bella looked at the girl unsure how to reply. "I bet it was very hard for you to deal with them, but that didn't mean you had a right to be stuck up jerk towards them."
"How else was I suppose to be? Billy never accepted me as his daughter in law, not when you were the better pick. He bragged about your cooking, and how I will never amount to you. Then there was Jake who would ask if I wanted to run a motorcycle, or if I wanted to ride on his back. Then there was Paul and Sam who just glared at me. I was the reason their so called little sister ran away."
"I didn't know they did those things. I just thought if I left they would have an easier time accepting you. I felt like if I was there there would have been sides picked and that wouldn't be fair for you," Bella spoke. "I was eighteen, I was barely an adult. All I knew was Forks broke my heart twice, and I couldn't stay."
"I don't know why he imprinted on me. We have nothing in common, we fight more then we get along. That is even before we got married. Nothing is easy with my relationship with him. I am always being held up to how Bella was. It was easier to have everyone hate me then being constantly compared to how great you were," Amber spoke. "You have no idea how much hell it was after you ran off."
"I've heard stories from some of them," Bella spoke.
"And then you come back and they welcome you back with opened arms. Almost like you didn't run off and break all their hearts. It didn't matter because you were back," Amber spoke. "Then you opened this bakery and Embry admitted to the imprint. You are never going to leave now."
"Even if he didn't imprint on me, I wouldn't be going anywhere," Bella spoke. "I didn't come back here for anyone but myself."
"But now you are stuck here just like the rest of us. If you will still have me I would like to have a job. At least being here gets me out of La Push," She spoke.
Bella thought about it for a few seconds. She wasn't sure the girl was being completely honest. She actually thought she was being played and Amber was going screw her over some way, but she had to accept it. Maybe if she accepted her then the other members would slowly start to. "Yes, I would like that very much. How many days are you thinking?"
"Maybe two days a week?" She spoke.
"That works for me," Bella smiled. "You are going have to start trying to get along with Emily and Kim though. They work here too and I'm not going have your drama coming here."
"I understand," She muttered. "I'm not doing this for you though. I'm doing this for Jacob because he is overly tired. Maybe if I start contributing then we won't be fighting as much."
The rest of the day went about the same. Amber stayed the day to help, and there was little fighting between the two girls. Bella was starting to get a lot more worried when she hadn't heard from anyone in the pack including the mates. She was starting to get a bad feeling about what could have happened. She kept checking her phone throughout the day. She had called everyones cell phones with no answer. She called her dad to see if he had heard anything, and he hadn't. She called Billy, even though she really didn't want to.
It was time to close the bakery, Bella was cleaning up the store with Amber's help. "Have you heard from them? Amber asked.
"No, and neither has anyone in La Push. Maybe now is a time to start worrying?" Bella muttered. Bella closed up the store and walked towards her car. Amber was walking towards hers.
"Are you going back to the pack house?" she asked.
"Yeah, then if they aren't there I guess I'll go to Billys, and then my dads. Are you going back to the house?" Bella asked the younger girl.
"I'm going stop at my apartment and see if Jake's there," Amber spoke.
They both went off in their different directions. Bella wasn't too sure what to think about the pack vanishing. She made it to the pack house with no issues not that she thought there would be. She walked into the house expecting to be greeted with the noise of the younger kids playing X box but she was meant with silence. She searched all the rooms, and found nothing. She was now really worried.
She made her way to Billy's. She was thrilled to see Rachel sitting on the couch and Billy there too. "Oh thank god. I thought Amber and I were the only imprints left here. Have you heard from Pauly or any of them?"
Rachels eyes were red like she had been crying. Bella sat down next to her and pulled her into a hug. "Rach, what's wrong?"
"Nobody is answering their phones. Rachel just got back here after going to the beach, and seeing the other parents to see if they were there. Nobody has saw them since last night," Billy explained.
Bella looked at Billy, "Jake or Embry didn't come here at any point last night?"
"No," Billy spoke. Bella looked at him for a minute wondering if he dad called him and yelled at him. She didn't think her dad would have done that but you never know. She wondered if Rachel let Billy into the little secret the pack now knows.
"Okay, so now what?" Bella asked. "They didn't just vanish. There is no way the pack and two imprints just vanished. Someone has to know something. "
"Even when you left to New York they didn't just vanish without telling anyone. Someone took them," Rachel spoke. "I just know it."
"Okay then I'm going to the Cullen's. It is the logical guess. Edward wants me so he has a reason to do something," Bella spoke.
"You know we can't let you go there without a pack member," Billy spoke.
"Well, we don't have a pack member, Billy. Incase, you haven't realized the pack left. So it's either I go to the Cullen's and try to figure stuff out or we sit here and do nothing. I'm not sitting here doing nothing. So I'm going to the Cullens," Bella spoke.
"You can't go, what if they come back and you are at the Cullen's," Billy spoke.
"They aren't coming back because Edward and those other three somehow got them," Bella shouted as she grabbed her keys. She felt Rachels hand on her arm.
"You can't go alone, I'll go to but we aren't going unarmed," Rachel spoke.
"I don't think a gun is going be much help towards them," Bella spoke.
"I know, that is why we are taking a shit ton of lighters," she smiled. "If they come near us we light their clothes on fire."
Bella chuckled, "I sure hope that idea works."
The girls got the lighters and made their way to the car by the time Amber was coming up to the house. Rachel groaned and rolled her eyes. Bella shushed her and told her to be nice. "We are going to the Cullen's to get answers. Are you coming or staying?" Bella directed the question to Amber.
"Do you think that's smart?" Amber asked. "I feel like we would be walking into our death."
"We have lighters," Rachel said holding them up.
"I still think this is an awful idea even with lighters but sure why the hell not," she muttered getting into the back seat. Amber couldn't believe she actually agreed to this. She was walking into her death.
Bella drove them to the Cullen's house having second thoughts about this. Maybe this was a bad idea. Too late now, she pulled into their long drive way. She parked the car and got out, the other two girls followed her lead. She walked to the front door and rang the door bell.
Well, if Edward was there he would have heard her thoughts and been the one answering the door before she even rang the door bell. Bella was thankful it was Rose who answered the door, and not Carlisle. That had to mean something. Rose wouldn't let Edward get to her because she wanted Bella to stay human.
"What are you guys doing here?" Rose asked. "Carlisle isn't here."
"What about Edward, Bre, Alice or Jasper?" Bella questioned.
"Nope, just Esme, Emmett and I here, so I repeat what are you three doing here, and with no body guards at that," Rose spoke. "Does the pack know you three snuck off?"
"Yeah that's the problem, we can't find them," Bella muttered.
Rose heard that and looked at the three of them. "What do you mean you can't find them? It's not hard to misplace a group of over sized mutts."
"Well, we didn't misplace them. We also didn't misplace Emily, and Kim either. Somehow everyone is missing but us three," Amber spoke with an attitude.
"Did you try hanging lost signs," Emmett asked laughing at his own joke.
Bella rolled her eyes and ignored it. "I'm guessing you don't smell dog around here right?"
"Nope, nothing fresh at least, but your pack wouldn't come this far," Rose spoke.
"Do you know where Carlisle went?" Rachel asked. "Is it possible he went to where ever the others are?"
"Rose invite them in. Stop making them stay on the porch," Esme ordered as the girls walked into the house and took a seat on their couch. "Carlisle didn't tell us where he was going before he left. We thought he was going hunting."
"Yeah, probably hunting for our mates," Amber spoke.
" I can tell you wet dog isn't something we hunt for," Rose answered.
"Okay so we have no clue where Carlisle is or the pack. We don't know if Edward and them are in Alaska. Can you guys do me a favor?" Bella asked.
"Depends what it is?"
"Would you be able to come close to La Push border and see if you can get a trail on them?" Bella asked. "I know the treaty you can't cross over but if you could catch their scent outside of La Push. Maybe follow it and see where the idiots went too?"
Emmett and Rose looked at each other for a moment before Emmett answered. "Yeah we can do that, I mean it wasn't like Rose and I had anything really planned for the evening. Who doesn't like a romantic stroll in the woods in the search of wet dog scent."
"Thank you," Bella spoke.
"Bella, lets go back to La Push, can you guys call her if you find anything?" Rachel spoke. "I don't like leaving dad alone."
"Yeah we will be in touch."
Bella couldn't believe this is how her day went. How does a whole pack just vanish without a word? How the hell did Emily and Kim disappear too without a word? It's not like they were in the forest with the pack. They were in La Push, Bella was sure of it. They were in the house when her and Em went up to bed.
They pulled in front of the little red house hoping that a pack member would have just ran out of the house but nothing. They walked into the house seeing Billy still sitting at the same place. " Anything?" he asked.
"Nope, nothing, Rose and Emmett are going run along the border on their side to see if they can catch a scent trail. Carlisle wasn't there they weren't sure where he went off too," Bella spoke.
"Can you trust Rose and Emmett?" he questioned her.
"Do you know what happened last night?" Bella asked. Rachel and Ambers heads shot up not expecting Bella to say that.
"No," Billy spoke up.
"Carlisle ran blood test on the five imprinted men except for Quil to see if there maybe under lying issues on why they haven't produced yet. Carlisle found something interesting in the blood work. Embry and Jacob found out they are half brothers, and that you had an affair," Bella spoke. "Jacob ran out of the house phased, and that's about the last time I saw most of the pack."
Rachel looked at her dad, "You thought I was crying because I haven't heard from Paul. I was crying because you cheated on our mother. What is worse you pretended like you didn't know who Embry's father was when it was you all along. I have a half brother, and you never said anything."
Billy looked shocked not expecting everyone to figure this out. "What would have happened if Jake took over as alpha, and still none of the girls got pregnant? Would you have even said anything?" Bella asked.
"It was a drunken accident. After the twins were born Sarah and I were having issues. She wanted another baby but we were having money issues. I was working all the time, and we were fighting more," Billy spoke. " I went to the bar after a bad fight. I drank one too many and ended up in bed with Embry's mom."
"Did Sarah know?" Bella questioned. "Did she know you cheated on you?"
Billy shook his head no. "At the time she didn't know. I felt so guilty that I gave Sarah what she wanted. We started trying for a baby. Then a few months later Tiffany shows up in La Push with a bag saying she got kicked out because she's pregnant. I told her I would give her money if she didn't say anything. She took the money and had Embry. Sarah had Jake, and I never thought they would become friends."
"When did mom figure it out?" Rachel asked. "It had to be when they were about a year old. I can remember her buying Embry clothes because Tiffany wasn't all too much of a parent."
"No she found out later. We got into a big fight, and she left the house in the car. It was the night she was hit by a drunk driver," Billy whispered.
Bella looked over at Rachel who was now crying. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. When Jake hears this story he is going lose it. Jake will now blame his father for the death of his mother. The mother that was taken all too soon from him. The mother who he has the engagement ring of that should have went to Amber. As if finding out your best friend is also your brother isn't bad enough now he has this too.
