Ryder's POV

No, not Hazel. It can't be Hazel! I thought frantically.

Despite my thoughts, lying on the ground was an unconscious, and nearly dead, daughter of Pluto.

The soldier, which I now know as Frank, was sobbing his eyes out while desperately clutching her pale hand.

Her eyes were half open and her black sweatshirt was torn, revealing a once-silver bloody shirt underneath.

She was fatally wounded.

I quickly shook off the shock and felt for a pulse.

I waited.

And waited.

I didn't feel anything.

NO! She can't be...Hazel can't be dead!

Just as I almost lost hope, I felt something.

Thump...Thump...

It was a faint pulse.

Hazel was alive, but for how long?

I had mastered the art of healing with both water and fire. Earth and air where very hard due to it being Hades and Zeus' territories respectively.

I looked at the fatal wound on Hazel. I knew I could heal it.

She will survive. She can't die.

I looked at Frank and said "Move. I can heal her."

He looked at me and backed away a little bit, but still held her hand.

"Do it."

I opened my fist and summoned a ball of fire. As soon as I touched the wound the fire seeped in. I could feel my energy draining.

I knew this would happen. My energy and the fire were seeping into Hazel, healing her in the process. The fire healed, and the energy revived.

I never said this, but healing a wound that bad, would knock me out in the process.

I fell away from Hazel.

I heard something before I lost consciousness.

"What happened?" A dazed Hazel asked.

Hazel's POV

I could feel myself dying. It was like an old friend that kept visiting.

Three times dead. Three lives lived. I thought.

I could nearly see Charon. Right now it was just hazy, but it was getting clearer by the second.

Then, I felt a warm feeling in my stomach.

It was like a warm flame that gave me energy.

It felt like something was pulling me away from death.

I could see a face leaning over me, and I could feel hand on my stomach. Somebody was healing me.

Then the hand fell away. I felt rejuvenated and fully healed, but dazed.

"What happened?" I croaked.

I saw Frank looking at me with tears in his eyes.

"He saved you." He whispered. "You were dying and he saved you."

Then his eyes widened at something behind me. There was a soldier lying on the ground there. He was only unconscious.

My mind ran with questions. What soldier had the ability to heal? As far as I knew, only the Silver Soldiers (That's what we call the soldiers with the silver rimmed hood) and the Commander have that power.

I inspected the hood, curious about who saved me. Why would one of the best soldiers save me, a lowly soldier?

What I saw shocked me. Around the hood was a golden rim.

The Commander saved me! In all my time in the Army I had never met the Commander, but we all knew his power.

Frank looked at my shocked face and followed my gaze to his hood.

I heard the battle finally end and I realized that we were in a battle!

I looked around and noticed Apollo campers healing the wounded.

Then I remembered what was going on.

My thoughts were kind of jumbled. It was like someone had increased my ADHD a million times.

Probably side-effects from coming back from the brink of death. I concluded.

"We need to get him to a medic. " Frank told me.

"I have a better idea." I told him. I took a deep breath.

Then, I yelled at the top of my lungs "WE NEED MEDIC! COMMANDER IS INJURED!"

Right after I screamed that, a Silver Soldier was next to me. Frank and I scooted away to give the Silver Soldier some room.

The Silver Soldier put his hand on the Commander's forehead and I heard him mutter "Revive, διοικητής μου!"

My mind translated "Revive, διοικητής μου!" to "Revive, my Commander!" (A/N: At least, that's what I get when I type it into Google Translate! :))

Nothing happened.

I could hear the panic rising in his voice as he said (louder and more forcefully) "Revive, διοικητής μου!"

I heard the Commander groan and sit up. I expected the Silver Soldier to help him up and ask him if he was okay.

Instead he said "Ryder Ryder Ryder, how many times do I have to tell you: Don't knock yourself out in the middle of a battle?"

The Commander laughed "Thank you, Mason."

"No problem Ryder."

Mason pulled up the Commander to his feet and helped him stand when he swayed. Frank and I stood up as well.

I swallowed nervously then said "Thank you, sir, for saving me."

He turned to me and I felt the sense of déjà vu, like, I'd met the Commander before.

"No problem, Hazel." The Commander said then the two started heading back t o the cabin.

Only later did I wonder how he knew my name.

Ryder's Pov

I plopped onto my bed and let out a groan. My head was pounding.

"So, are you going to tell me what happened?" Mason asked.

"She was dying, so I healed her. The wound was fatal, so I passed out because of all the energy I used." I explained.

"Ryder, I know you knew this girl before. What was her name? Hazel?"

"Hazel."

"I know you knew Hazel from...before, but you need to be careful. Next time you knock yourself out, try to do it near the infirmary."

He acted all serious, but I knew he was joking. He was worried about me, but Mason, well, he isn't the 'lecture' type.

That was Julia.

And what she didn't know wouldn't hurt her.

Hazel's Pov

Of course, we 'forgot' to put our hoods back on. (Really, we just left them off, we missed everyone).

So, I think a few people had a heart attack when Frank and I strolled into camp, hand-in-hand.

"HAZEL?! FRANK?!" I heard a certain daughter of Aphrodite yelled.

"Hi, Piper." I responded.

"You are in the Army? Why didn't you tell us? Where have you been? JASON GET OVER HERE!" She screeched the last part at Jason who was walking by.

"What do y-HAZEL!?FRANK!?" He yelled when he saw us.

"Hey, Jason." Frank said, amused.

"Wha-"

"Yes, we are in the Army. We didn't tell you because we couldn't find you."I told them.

"Yeah sorry about that, we were, ummm...persuading Leo to learn how to wield a sword." When Jason said persuading he looked pointedly at Piper.

"He needs to learn!"

"Speaking of Leo, where is he?" Frank asked. I member when Frank and Leo didn't get along well; but friendships are formed in the heart of war. Now, they are best buddies.

"He is probably in Bunker 9. After you see him we have to talk!" Piper said.

"What about Annabeth and Percy?" At the word Percy The two looked at each other sadly.

"He's not...Percy's not dead is he?" I asked hesitantly.

"We..." Piper choked a sob down. I felt alarmed.

"We don't know. He disappeared a long time ago."

"What happened?" Frank asked softly.

"We should talk at Bunker 9." Jason said. "Besides, Leo would want to see you guys."

"Okay." I replied.

As we trudged to Bunker 9, I felt sadness and worry engulf our group.

What happened to Percy? Please be okay. I wish we hadn't left, maybe then the Seven would be together. I thought glumly.

And, after one look at Frank, I knew he thought the same thing.

DONE! FINISHED! COMPLETED! Or what ever you prefer! When Hazel thinks that 'I wish we hadn't left.' she means that she stayed at Camp Half-Blood instead of Camp Jupiter.
