With that, here's the much anticipated Rating Game.
It was only an hour before the Rating Game against the Phenex clan. As ordered by Rias, all the members were to wear their usual school uniform. Other than that, Kurai had wrapped both of his arm and wrists with black wrapping. "She really has spent so much time in the human world." Despite the hard work during his training, Kurai couldn't help but sweat bullets in slight fear. As this was happening, he stood over the rice cooker in the kitchen waiting for it to finish. "I shouldn't be sweating over food, it's not sanitary."
He slightly chuckled as he grabbed a nearby rag and used it to wipe the sweat off of his face. "Hey Torafusa, are you there?"
[What is it?]
"I just needed someone to talk to," Kurai's eyes narrowed, as he thought about something out of the many things that's been on his mind for a while. "Actually, there is something I wanted to ask you. Back in the familiar forest, Satooji mentioned that Tiamat was one of the five great Dragon Kings. Were you one of the other four?"
After a moment of silence from his gauntlet
[No]
The timer on the cooker went off meaning the rice was done. The sudden sound made him jump after that bit of eerie silence.
[We Dragons are powerful creatures; I belonged in a rank that was higher than the five Dragon Kings. I am one of the three Heavenly Dragons]
"Heavenly Dragons?" Kurai questioned with wide eyes.
[Our powers rivaled that of the Four Great Satans and even the biblical God. That is why the Reshape Will is a member of the 13 Longinus. The Tools to Destroy God]
"And there are two more just like you?" Kurai questioned. Concurrently, he was preparing the rice, molding it in hands.
[There was. The Red Dragon Lord Ddraig, and the White Dragon Lord Albion. However, during the Great War, the Red Dragon passed, and his body disappeared]
"Were you two close?"
[He was a good friend. But that is a story for another time. Right now, you have a Phoenix to slay]
"Your damn right," Kurai replied with a confident smirk.
"Um, Kurai-san?"
Kurai turned and noticed Asia in her nun outfit from when they first met. Ever since she became a Devil, she stopped wearing it. The only this that was missing was her Rosario, and her veil cap. "Haven't seen that in a while, you in that outfit I mean," He said with a smile.
"President Rias wanted me to be comfortable and I can run more freely in this. What do you think?" She asked. She had a small bit of redness on her face showing she was nervous. "I'm not a Christian anymore, but I haven't forgotten my beliefs. Even though I'm a Devil now…"
"Whatever makes you happy, that's all I really care about," Kurai said as he continued preparing the rice.
"That's really kind of you," She stood there in silence with her head down and a sad look on her face. If Kurai didn't know better, she looked like she was about to cry.
"Asia," Kurai asked trying to look into her eyes.
"The truth is, I'm scared. I'm not really into violence let alone fighting," Asia said.
"Me neither," Kurai told her. "Don't worry; you won't have to fight anyone. Every one of us will be there to protect you. You have nothing to worry about."
"You're right," To his surprise, she walked up to him and hugged his arm rather tightly, as if she didn't want to let go. "C-Can I... Can I stay with you...Forever?" She asked, gripping his arm tighter.
That question brought worry in his eyes. Ever since the Raynare incident, she had been more dependent on him and looked to him for help. Like she had completely forgotten that it was his fault she was no longer a Christian. That he was the one who had ruined her life. But in her eyes, that wasn't the case. And for some reason, it was difficult to say no to her.
"As long as you want," Kurai told her. He looked to the clock and saw that it was time to leave. "We should get going."
The two of them walked into the clubroom. Asia was about to say something, but Kurai stopped her in surprise at the eerie silence from the room. Only one of the candles were lit giving it a dim, ominous glow. Koneko was reading a book. She sported a pair of fingerless gloves with a cat design on the back. Kiba had equipped himself with a pair of armored gauntlets on his arms and legs as he was polishing his sword.
As for Akeno and Rias, they were busy sipping on green tea with calm expressions.
Asia gestured to the basket in her arms. "We brought snacks in case anyone's hungry."
She walked around handing everyone a rice ball. "This'll at least keep everyone from going hungry." She explained.
"This'll be good for stamina," Rias said taking a bite. She turned to Kurai and smiled. "It's good."
"Everyone's incredibly calm. It's almost like another meeting," Kurai commented. He knew that they were all as anxious and nervous as him. This was technically their first Rating Game. And the opponent had both experience, and numbers as their advantage.
Ten minutes prior to the match, a magic-circle appeared on the small space in the room and Grayfia-san rose from it.
"Is everyone ready? It's ten minutes before the match," She looked around at everyone and then turned to Rias. "I take it your other Bishop isn't participating?"
That question surprised Kurai as he stood up. "You have another Bishop?" He thought back and remembered her saying how she only had one Rook, and one Knight left in her collection of Evil Pieces. He didn't realize it up till now, but she never said anything about a Bishop.
"Yes I do. But unfortunately, he's away on another mission," She explained. Kurai realized that there was another male member of her peerage. It wasn't just him and Kiba.
"A mission?" Asia asked.
"If he's on his own, how strong is this guy?" That question was met with a small light laugh from Koneko, the kind you couldn't really hear.
Grayfia nodded and faced everyone. "When it becomes the time to start the battle, you will be teleported to the battlefield through this magic-circle. The location of the place is in a different dimension used for battles. You may fight with all your power. It's a disposable space so feel free to fight to your satisfaction."
"That also means you can use your Grimoire's Legacy, Kurai-kun," Akeno told him.
"Talk about wicked," Kurai replied.
"We have full license to do as we please," Kiba finished.
"This battle will also be viewed by members of both households from a different location through broadcast. As well as Lord Lucifer-sama"
"Onii-sama is?" Rias said in surprise. "I see, so Onii-sama is also going to view this battle."
"Wait your brother is Lucifer, as in the Devil King?" Asia asked with a slight quiver.
"His real name is Sirzechs, Sirzechs-sama," Kiba explained. "Lucifer is more of a title. He took over the throne when the original Lucifer passed."
"Whoa," Kurai was in shock that his master was connected to someone that powerful.
Grayfia gestured to the magic circle. "Will everyone please step into the magic circle and we can proceed with the game?"
Everyone did as told and stepped onto the circle. One by one, Kurai saw as each one of them faded and disappeared. Before it was his turn, he felt Asia's hand grip onto his before she too disappeared, and he did as well.
Kurai could see again, only to see that they were still in the clubroom.
"I don't understand," Asia said.
"Everyone put these transceivers in your ears so we can communicate." Akeno said, handing each of them an earpiece.
Before they could continue, the sound of feedback rang across the grounds.
[Hello everyone. I am Grayfia, a maid from the House of Gremory and today I will be the arbiter of the Rating match between the House of Gremory and the House of Phoenix.]
"That's the school's broadcast," Kurai said.
[In the name of my Master, Sirzechs Lucifer, I will be keeping my eye on this match. By using both Rias-sama and Raiser-sama's opinion, we created this battlefield which is a replica of the school, Kuou academy, which Rias-sama attends to in the human world.]
"Replica?" Asia asked.
"Take a look outside," Koneko said.
Looking outside, they saw that the sky was white. Considering it was supposed to be midnight, it proved they were sent to another dimension.
[The location where both teams were transported will be their "base". Rias-sama's "base" would be the Occult Research Cub's clubroom located in the old school building. Raiser-sama's "base" would be the Student Council's room located in the new building. For the Pawns to use "promotion", please head to the enemy's base to do it.]
"Raiser has eight pawns," Rias said. "If they were to find their way her and promote to a Queen."
"Then we would have a problem on our hands," Akeno finished.
"So we take out their pawns first?" Kurai said. He grinned and punched his fist. "I can handle that without promotion."
"Raiser will probably have them scout out in different areas. And it won't just be the pawns he'll send," Rias intervened. "On terms of number and experience, they certainly outrank us, so we have to be smart about this. You're our only Pawn; we can't lose one of our own by any means."
"Yes ma'am," Kurai replied.
Kiba had spread out a map on the table that was drawn on with their battle plans.
"The forest near us, it's safe to assume this is our territory as well so the new building is Raiser's territory. We'll most likely be ambushed once we enter. It's dangerous to go there straight through the school field, since it's visible from the new building." Rias pondered.
"If we capture the gym, we should be able to gain a route to the new building, seeing as how it's a passage to both buildings." Akeno suggested.
"I agree, Raiser will most likely have one of his Rooks positioned there, so we'll send you in, Koneko. Before that you and Yuuto should set some traps in the forest so they don't get the drop on us." Kiba and Koneko nodded. Kiba turned to Kurai. "Your familiar, can we borrow him?"
"What for?" Kurai asked.
"If we set him up in the forest, he can help us make camouflage traps," Koneko explained.
"Makes sense," A magic circle appeared on Kurai's shoulder and Yuki popped out of it.
"Ha," He jumped and swung on Kurai's bang like it was a vine.
(A.N: "Ha" is the Japanese word for Leaf)
Kurai plucked him off his bang and laid him down on his hand. "You listen to Kiba and do exactly what he tells you."
Yuki raised his stubby hand. "Ha."
Kurai took that as an agreement and watched as he jumped on Kiba's shoulder.
With that, the two left to carry out their orders.
"Everyone else will be on standby until they finish setting up the trap. Except for Akeno?"
"Yes."
"After Yuuto and Koneko returns, can you cast illusions and mists around the forest and the sky? Obviously a trap that only reacts to Raiser's group. That's how the start of the match will be like, though it seems like this battle will become intense midway through it. So I'll leave the issue regarding the mists and the illusions to you, Akeno."
"I understand, president," Akeno bowed and left.
"Shit is about to get real here," Kurai whispered to himself.
"Kurai," Rias turned to him.
"Have a seat." She said, he was confused at the sudden request but didn't ask questions. Once he was seated she patted her lap "Lay here."
"Huh?" He asked, surprised at her request.
"Just lay down." She repeated sweetly.
"Yes…ma'am," He said rather nervously laying his head on her lap with a red face. "I don't understand-"
"Relax," She placed a hand on his head.
Though he could see that Asia didn't like the current position he was in with Rias, Kurai would have been lying if he said it didn't feel nice. Better than any pillow he's used. Suddenly, it was as if weights in his mind were lifted, his thoughts became clearer, and his senses felt sharper. He could not only feel his heartbeat, but he could hear every thump. "What did you do to me?" He asked sitting back up and looking at his hands.
"I just unlocked a seal I had cast on you a while." She answered before I could ask. That's when I realized I didn't just feel different, I felt stronger. "When I reincarnated you, your body couldn't handle the power of all eight Pawn pieces. If I didn't place a seal on you, you'd be stronger than even Akeno. But your body would've shattered along with your mind." She explained.
Asia held a relief look hearing this.
"That's why you put me through hell these last ten days? For my own good?"
"Exactly," Rias answered.
"You really are the best, Rias-sama," Kurai told her.
Rias smiled and then placed a finger on her earpiece. She nodded and faced Kurai. "Koneko is done with the traps. So you're going to help her secure the gym. Don't be afraid to go overboard, just because you're dealing with girls."
"I'll go," Asia insisted. "They might need healing support."
"You have no combat experience," Rias told her. "You'll be staying here with me. If we lose you, we'll really be a leg down."
"Don't worry about it Asia, I'll be fine," Kurai told her as he walked towards the door. "And don't worry President," Kurai turned to her and gave her a grin. "I'll send them all flying."
Rias narrowed her eyes when she noticed that one of his teeth were like fangs.
(Okay then, Kurai, Koneko. You won't be able to avoid the battle once you get into the gym. Move accordingly like we discussed. That location will be an important place)
Rias's voice went off from their transceivers and the both of them nodded looking at one another.
"Yes," The both of them said. They snuck in and entered from behind the curtains on the stage ready for a sneak attack.
That was until…
"We know you're there. We saw you enter." A voice said.
"Crap," Kurai hissed.
"There's no point in hiding," Koneko said.
The both of them emerged from behind the curtains and were faced with a pair of twins with green hair and small backpacks, a woman in Chinese attire, and the girl who knocked Kurai out on their first encounter.
Kurai glared recognizing her. The latter smirked at him. "They sent us a midget and an emo. I guess Rias-sama thought the same as Raiser-sama."
"The name's Ile, pawn," One of the twins introduced.
"Nle, pawn." The other said.
"I'm Xuelan, the rook," The Chinese woman said
"And Mira, pawn," The loli introduced
Koneko readied herself to fight. She suddenly heard Kurai next to her chuckling to himself and then bursting out in a fit of laughter. The action shocked everyone present.
"Senpai?" She asked.
Kurai stopped laughing and pointed at Mira. "Oi, Mira isn't it?" He asked.
"Yeah, what is it?" She spat at him.
"To think you'd be my first opponent. I guess luck was on my side," Kurai said.
"Did you forget what happened last week?" Mira reminded.
"No, you misunderstand. You humiliated me in front of Rias-sama and the others," Kurai's eyes narrowed into a harsh glare. "You just saved me the trouble of hunting you down."
"Don't mind him," One of the twins said.
"The smaller the dog, the louder it barks," The other one said.
Kurai growled and summoned his gauntlet. Before he could do anything, Koneko stood in front of him.
"I'll take on the rook. Kurai-senpai, the three pawns are yours," Koneko told him.
"Hold on," She turned to him as he pointed to the four. "Mira aside, why do I get the loli twins?"
"We heard that," Ile said with a tick mark on her head.
"The rook's level is on par with a Queen. Taking her out is a main priority," She said cracking her knuckles.
Kurai broke out in cold sweat and gritted his teeth. "I'm in neutral territory, I won't be able to promote here. This means they can't either."
"Alright then," Kurai caved in.
"Shall we get started?" Xuelan stomped her heels on the ground and the ground cracked snaking towards the two, forcing them to jump before they sank as the platform had crumbled and caved in.
"She's completely nuts," Kurai said in midair. He looked and noticed Mira flying towards him with her staff ready to strike him.
"Crap," Kurai held his right hand out as the blue gem glowed. With one hand, he stopped her attack, surprising her. "What?" She was immediately met with a downward kick to her back and landed on the ground in a thud.
"Matter Shift: Titanium Fist. Harder than steel," Kurai explained landing on the ground. He looked to his front and noticed that Mira was gone.
Meanwhile, Koneko and Xeulan have already begun their fight a bit further away from us.
It looked like a martial arts match because of all the punches they are throwing at each other! Each hit was powerful since both of them were Rooks. Koneko-chan was at an advantage because of her small build, which allowed her to move more freely. But her opponent was proficient in lover body combat since most of her attacks revolved around the use of kicks.
Kurai looked around for the half pint. "Where did she go?" He suddenly felt something slam onto his back and was sent flying into the wall. It was his turn to land on the ground in a thud. "That hurt even worse that last time," He groaned standing up. The moment he regained his composure, he was face to face with the two twins as they both smiled at him with their hands behind their backs. What he found unsettling was the sound coming from behind, almost like a car engine that was turned on.
"What the?" He suddenly felt a weird feeling in the pit of his stomach, as if something inside was telling him something bad was about to happen. Before he knew it, he instinctively bended all the way backwards as one of them swung a chainsaw for his neck. He had that same instinctive feeling and jumped off the wall landing behind them as one of their attempts sliced a chunk of the wall where he just was. "Quit dodging us," One of the twins demanded.
"You think I'm just going to let you slice me?" Kurai said landing on his feet.
Mira stood between the two and patted their heads. "They're quite vicious little cuties aren't they?"
"They're little girls, but they are placing me in a corner here," Kurai's eyes widened as the two twins with the chainsaws attempted to hack him together.
"Time to cut you up!" They said happily. He found it very disturbing that these girls we're happy at the very thought of mutilating him. The both of them brought their chainsaws down on him towards his shoulders. What caught them off guard was the fact he grabbed the revved blades in his hands and kept them at bay, only being pushed back a few feet as they kept spinning. His wrist wraps were tearing away, but his skin wasn't.
"He's grabbing our chainsaws?" The two said in sync.
"There's no way chainsaws can cut through solid titanium," Kurai said. The both of them turned and saw that his gem was glowing. Next thing they knew, the blades on their weapons flew apart and shattered, leaving only the handles.
"What did you do?" One of the twins asked examining her destroyed equipment.
"Grimoire's Legacy destroys everything it touches," Kurai waved his hand and a magic circle appeared under the two. "Get lost brats." The two circles detonated and caught the two in an explosion that sent them flying and crashing to the ground.
"They survived that?" Kurai asked. The good news was he knocked out two of the three pests. He turned towards Mira as she stood in a ready stance with her staff out. "Just who are you?"
Kurai smirked and punched his hand ready to fight. "Kage Kurai, Pawn."
"Kage Kurai," Mira repeated. "At least I know the name of the person I'm supposed to take down."
"Is that so," Kurai placed his hands in his pocket and closed his eyes. "Satan, grant me strength that turns me to your messenger of death."
Mira attempted to jab and strike him with her staff, only for him to repeatedly dodge her attacks effortlessly, as if he knew what she was going to do next. "His reflexes have improved."
"…I am your instrument of eternal suffering, your tool of endless darkness," Kurai continued.
"Why is he praying?" Mira stood there in shock as a dark red aura emanated around him.
"Yah!" She attempted one more jab at him, only for her staff to disintegrate as it reached his vicinity. "Now then," She looked up as Kurai snapped his fingers. "Death's Pillar."
Mira moved back a few feet as an intense black light enveloped around Kurai and shot up from the ceiling, blasting a hole through the roof and cracking the ground beneath him. Koneko, who had Xuelan in a headlock, watched as the pillar disappear and revealing an entirely shocked Kurai. "You dodged that?"
"That power was beyond Devil," Mira said in fear. "Is that the Grimoire's Legacy I've heard about?"
Kurai suddenly moved closer to her with his palm facing her. He striked her in the stomach, also releasing a small amount of his power into her system, making her cough up blood as she was sent flying.
"Hell yeah...oww," He looked to his palm and noticed a somewhat small cut that was on the verge of being a gash. It might have been the adrenaline, but he didn't realize that one of the chainsaw twins actually nicked him. "It's fine, I'll have Asia take care of it."
(Kurai, Koneko, did you secure the gym?)
"Yeah, we're all good," Kurai responded.
(Good, now you two might want to get out of there. You have thirty seconds)
"For what?"
(Time's a factor)
Koneko, whose clothes were slightly torn during her fight walked up to him and they both fist bumped. "We took care of that."
"Like hell you did!" The both of them turned and noticed that the four regrouped and was ready to take them out as a team. "We can't lose to these two," Xuelan spat.
The twins suddenly pulled out a pair of handheld circular saws and turned them on. They lifted them pointing the blades at the two. "Let's fuck up their faces!"
"These girls are completely crazy," Kurai said.
"Kurai-senpai, remember what you did with Kiba at the training camp?"
"You mean get my ass handed to...Oh," Kurai pointed his gauntlet as the four girls ran at them. "You might want to fly out of here."
Koneko nodded and spreaded her Devil wings. She escaped using the skylight Kurai added to the roof.'
Xuelan growled seeing her opponent get away, and decided to take her anger out on the pawn.
"Prepare to die!" They all said.
"Matter Shift: Liquid Earth!"
Kurai flew back and took flight as the four landed on the ground. Immediately, they started sinking as if they were caught in quicksand and struggled to get around.
"Is this mud?" One of the twins asked.
"I can't move," Mira said trying to keep her head above.
Being a Rook, Xuelan was sinking like a battleship and struggling. "I can't swim," She pleaded.
They tried to bring out their Devil wings and fly to freedom.
Before that, Kurai used his gauntlet one more time. "Harden."
The once soft mud solidified into solid ground and the four girls found themselves trapped. One of the twin's hands were sticking out as the other one's legs were the only thing sticking out.
Both of Xuelan's hands and lower body was trapped and she couldn't break her way out, and the only thing Mira had sticking out was her right hand and her face.
As they saw Kurai fly out of the sky light, Kurai waved him off. "Let's fight with more passion next time!" He grinned before flying out.
"Arrogant son of a bitch," Mira spat.
"Next time, we're going to kill him," Xuelan said.
Kurai flew out and landed next to Koneko on the ground. "Why do you think Rias-sama wanted us to get-"
Before he could finish, a single bolt of lightning struck down and blew the gymnasium sky high, sending rubble and fire flying everywhere.
Kurai shielded his eyes as Koneko held down her skirt.
"Whoa," Kurai looked at the remains of the building and held his mouth wide open in fear at the god like crater that remained. He looked up and saw Akeno hovering above them. Her hand was sparking with remnants of her attack.
Grayfia's voice boomed across the area.
[Raiser-sama, three of your pawns, and one of your rooks, have been eliminated]
"Eliminated, they're still alive?" Kurai asked. It was out of concern. Despite they were enemies, Kurai still considered them living beings. If those four were alive, they had to be going through hell at the moment.
"The Death rate in this game are 1-10. They're usually the result of accidents," Koneko explained as they walked.
"As expected of Akeno-sama," Kurai blinked a few times. "Good thing she's on our side."
"She loves to give pain rather than recieve it. There's a reason she's called the Priestess of Thunder." Koneko said as the two began walking. She looked down at his hand and noticed blood driiping from his clenched palms. "Kurai-senpai, you're hurt."
"It's just a scratch. I can still fight," He was suddenly thrown a small bandage with a tiny cat printed on it. "Thanks, Koneko-chan," Kurai said putting it on out of respect.
"What should we do now?" He asked looking around.
"The athletic field is our next target. Yuuto-senpai should be waiting there for us," Koneko explained.
"I wonder if he's doing well on his own," Kurai asked.
"What is that?"
"Is that their idea of a trap?"
"It's actually cute."
Three of Raiser's pawns, two of them dressed as maids, and one dressed like a Vegas showgirl looked down at the one obstacle standing in their way.
"Ha," Yuki waved at them with an open smile.
"It's so tiny and pathetically cute, like a peanut," One of the maids said.
"I actually want to keep it," The showgirl said with a hint of red on her cheek.
"What is it doing?" The second maid asked.
To their confusion, Yuki started doing a light dance by hoping on one leg and waggig his tiny butt.
"I'm going to over come with cuteness," The showgirl said before joining him and doing her own dance.
"I think it's just trying to distract us Shuriya," One of the maid girls said looking around. "I don't sense anything."
Yuki continued dancing around. "Hahaha, Hahaha. Ha, ha, ha..." Yuki suddenly raised his stubby arms into the air. "Ha HA!"
The ground shook and several carnivorous flowers popped out of the ground under the three in an attempt to devour them. Unfortunately, the three were quick and leapt out of there.
"Who knew something so cute could be deadly," Shuriya said in disappointment as they zipped across the trees.
"I can't believe that stupid little weed thought we would fall for that," The maid named Marion insulted.
Even from a distance, Yuki heard her insult and his mouth was open as he gave off a semi dark smile. "Ha?"
Before they knew it, several venus flytraps gave chase to the three as they zipped across the trees. "I think we made him mad," The other maid Burent commented avoiding a plant beast as it tried to take a bite out of her.
The three made it to a clearing and were relieved to see the man eating plants had stopped chasing them. "We lost them," They looked in front and saw the old school building as well as the Gremory base. "That little weed led us here," Marion figured.
"You should watch the insults ladies," From the thick fog, Kiba emerged to confront them. Sitting onn his shoulders was Yuki, who went back to acting happy-go-lucky. "He's quite sensative."
"Ha," Yuki replied raising his arm. He then disappeared back to his home leaving Kiba to handle the three alone.
"Crap, we fell for that," Burent said.
"No matter, we still can promote and beat him," Marion said.
"I don't think so," Kiba replied pointing behind him. They turned and noticed that the entire school building was gone. "An illusion trap?"
"We make up in brains what we lack in numbers," Kiba explained.
"First a cute little pet, and then a cute boy. Today must be my lucky day," Shuriya said.
"Is it now?" Kiba asked glaring at them readying himself.
"He's probably fine," Kurai waved off the topic.
"We should start heading out," Koneko said walking ahead of him. Kurai looked around as he felt another instinctive feeling, like from earlier. "Why do I have this weird...feeling?"
He turned and ran to catch up with Koneko. "Hold on Koneko-chan."
He stopped and noticed something running over her body. It looked like a magic circle. Before he could blink, she detonated in a severe explosion that sent him flying and skidding across the ground.
"Koneko-chan!"
She was severely burnt. A majority of her clothes were burnt away, and she looked like she was in agony.
Kurai kneeled next to her in a panic. "Crap. What the hell am I supposed to do?" He was in a panic trying to figure out what to do.
"Forgive me," He looked down and saw Koneko trying to look up at him. By the looks of it, it had pained her just to move her head.
"You're alright," He knew deep down she was severely injured and needed Asia straight away.
Kurai was about to pick her up bridal style until he noticed her body was starting to fade. He knew it meant she couldn't fight anymore, and was going to be taken to a medical facility. "Koneko-chan? Koneko-chan!?"
"Tell President...I'm sorry," She muttered before her body ultimately faded away. The sudden action shocked Kurai immensely. "What the hell just happened?"
[Rias-sama. One Rook has been eliminated]
Those words were bittersweet. And something told Kurai that Grayfia didn't like saying that either. Rias didn't say anything, which meant she took the news hard. He could only imagine what Asia was thinking.
"Take," Kurai looked behind and noticed one of Raiser's women with her wings out flying above him. She was dressed like some kind of mage and even carried an intricate staff. "Dammit, I missed one," She said referring to him.
"Did you do this?" Kurai asked rhetorically. His anger made his Grimoire's Legacy unleash itself as he was ready to take her down. "You're going to pay for hurting her, bitch!" He spat trying to hold back several tears.
"I sense a strange power coming from his body. Is it Grimoire's Legacy? No, it's something else," She held her staff ready to end him. "You should learn some manners, boy."
Kurai raised his hand ready to unleash an attack when he suddenly felt another presence from behind him and turned to see Akeno standing there with a calm smile. "Akeno-sama."
"Please calm down Kurai-kun," She insisted. "I'll be her opponent."
"She's going to pay for what she did," Kurai replied. He wasn't about to lose another fight. Not just because he was pumped. He wanted revenge.
"I understand how you feel, but she's not someone you can beat so easily," Akeno explained looking up at her. "She is Raiser's Queen. Her name is Yubelluna-san, also known as the Bomb Queen."
"Bomb Queen?" Kurai asked. It didn't take an idiot to think that was a scary sounding nickname.
"One of Raiser's wins was completely because of her," Akeno went on to explain as they eyed her. "Before their opponent had a chance to come up with a strategy, she blew up their base and everyone in it. Her power is legendary."
"You got to be kidding," Kurai broke out in cold sweat and true fear. In hindsight, just one of her attacks had managed to take down a Rook, who was known to possess highly defensive properties.
"Kurai-kun, go and find Yuuto-kun," Akeno told him with a serious glare. "I'll avenge Koneko-chan."
Kurai watched as she hovered in the air with his wings and the two queens faced one another. Their power ran rampant across the vicinity and Kurai could feel it make all of his hair stand straight. "Akeno-sama is pissed off, not to mention she's gotten serious," He felt his hands tremble as his skin crawled. "Both of their powers are terrifying," He said before running to catch up with Kiba. Before that, he turned and cupped his hands over his mouth. "Akeno-sama, you better defeat her!" He yelled before running off.
"You allowed my prey to escape," Yubelluna told Akeno. "No matter, I rather much enjoy the thrill of the hunt. And besides..." Both their auras clashed as they both gave sickly sweet smiles. "I found me an even bigger target, Priestess of Thunder."
"Well then, shall we begin?" Akeno asked.
Kurai had managed to find his way to the sports center from his time at the academy. He looked around and realized that he was completely alone. He hid out in the supply room and sat on the vault mat trying to process the recent events. He was hoping to see Kiba immediately, to at least work out another strategy. And like that, about ten minutes went by. "I wonder if Kiba is still having trouble."
It was as if on cue
[Three of Raiser-sama's pawns have been eliminated]
"Never mind," He said to himself.
Suddenly, an arm grabbed him and out of reflex and surprise created a small explosion that shook the room.
"Are you trying to blow us up?" Kurai sighed in relief hearing Kiba.
"Don't surprise me like that. That kill would've been on you," Kurai replied. "Where's Yuki?"
"He went back to his world," Kiba said taking a seat. "Those three pawns had put up a hell of a fight."
"And yet you don't even have a scratch," Kurai observed. He looked down. "Did you hear what happened to Koneko-chan?"
Kiba nodded with an angry look. "Hearing the announcement caught me off guard during the fight. Yet I heard the explosion from where I was. How bad was it?"
"One hit, and she wasn't scathed before then," Kurai answered. "We're dealing with true monsters here," He thought for a second and started counting down with his fingers. "Koneko-chan and I took care of a rook and three pawns. Adding to the three of your pawns, and Akeno's queen, we're down to one rook, two knights, two bishops, and two pawns."
"Already six of his pawns were taken down. If I didn't know better, Raiser enjoyed sacrificing his players," Kiba insulted. "One knight, rook, and bishop are already stationed. We're not going to avoid a confrontation."
He turned and noticed Kurai sticking out his fist. "No matter what, we're winning this."
Kiba closed his eyes and gave a small grin. "True words, Kurai-kun," He bumped his fist and stood up placing a finger on his ear. "President? President?" He placed his hand down and sighed. "She's not responding."
Kurai tried the same with Asia and didn't get a responce. "You think something happened to them?"
"They'll be fine. Right now we can't just sit here and wait," Kiba told him standing up
"You're right," Kurai stood and walked towards the door. "What do you say we drive the Phoenix's deep in the ground?"
The both of them walked out onto the trackfield and noticed it was too quiet.
"Hey! We know you're here! If you want us, come and get us!"
A random dust cloud appeared out of nowhere. When it cleared, a young woman with brown hair dressed in armor and wielding a sword appeared out of nowhere. "I am the Knight, Karlamine."
"I am the Pawn, Kage Kurai."
"And I am the Knight, Yuuto Kiba."
"To think you'd come directly to the front without hesitation. I'm glad there are idiots like you who exist," She laughed.
Kurai's sweat dropped taking a closer look at her armor. "She says that and she's not even fully clad," He summoned his gauntlet and pointed it at her. "I can stop her from running. And then you can deal a knockout blow." Kiba stood in front of him pointing his sword at her. "I'll take her on alone."
"I'm not going to be on standby again," Kurai protested.
"It's not every day you get to fight another Knight as equals. Some say its fate," Kiba said.
Karlamine smirked and pulled out her broadsword. As it came out, it erupted in flames. "I couldn't have said it better myself. En Garde!" They charged each other with incredible speed as their swords clashed, creating sparks. Kiba had a smile that showed he was already enjoying this fight, probably because he was against a fellow Knight.
"Well this sucks. I got nothing to do," Kurai muttered watching them.
"Don't count yourself lucky," He turned and faced.
He turned around and saw a young woman wearing a mask that covered a quarter of her face. She had a tense body and looked quite aggressive. "I'm guessing that's the last Rook," Kurai said to himself.
"Jeez Karlamine," He turned and noticed a blond with drill like horns wearing a pink frilly dress like a princess. It was difficult to tell whether she was Bishop, or a Pawn. "You need to get your act together. It's always swords and swords. Not to mention talking back at Onii-sama for sacrificing his pawns. And taking away a cute boy like that."
One by one, several more girls appeared out of nowhere. First it was a young woman wearing a kimono, and then it was two twin girls with cat ears, and last was a woman with an intense looking sword strapped to her back. Before Kurai knew it, he was surrounded.
"This does not bode well," Kurai said looking at his opponents.
"And I get the blonde whose scared of women," The princess chuckled to herself. "That never stops being funny."
"Alright now I'm pissed," Kurai said deciding to make her his first kill. He held out his hand and ran at her getting ready to hit her with his power at close range.
"I do not participate in such barbarism," She said snapping her fingers. "Isabella-chan."
In an instant, Kurai felt an extremely forceful and lethal punch to his gut thanks to her Rook. The force sent him flying and skidding across the ground, hacking up saliva. The hit itself was like being struck with a wrecking ball. "Crap," He grunted standing up clutching his stomach in pain.
"I am the Rook, Isabella," The masked lady introduced. "Tell me yours."
"Kage Kurai. The Pawn," He gritted.
He turned to the princess girl and smirked. "Don't wanna dirty your hands, princess?" He taunted.
"Forget her; she'll just be watching us." Isabella stated as she tried to attempt another punch, to which Kurai dodged. She sent a barrage of punches that Kurai had managed to dodge.
"What do you mean forget her?" He asked jumping over her to avoid another hit. Isabella ceased her attacks and explained.
"No, that person is Ravel Phoenix. Raiser-sama's little sister. She became Raiser-sama's Bishop by using a special method, but she is Raiser-sama's actual sister."
"Really?" Kurai looked at her waving at them and sweat dropped. "Talk about a sicko."
Kurai dodged another set of punches from the Rook and countered one of them with a kick. He pushed off her hand and jumped back a few feet. He then jumped and delivered a sideways kick to her head, making her head cock to the left in a sickening crunching sound. To his shock and slight disgust, she turned her head and cricked her neck. "Amazing, I didn't think you'd be man enough to land a hit. I got to give my credit to Rias Gremory."
Meanwhile with Kiba and Karlamine, the enemy knight managed to break Kiba's sword, Holy Eraser, with her flame lit sword. Things weren't looking good for Kiba, but he was smirking for some reason.
"What's with the smile? You're defenseless; you Sacred Gear doesn't stand a chance against me." Karlamine gloated.
"There's more to my Sacred Gear than you think." Kiba said. Karlamine was puzzled at his statement. "Freeze." Kiba said softly. Suddenly a new blade formed in his empty hilt. It appeared to be a blade made of ice. "In front of this sword, Flame Delete, all fire vanishes." He explained.
"W-What!? Are you telling me... You have two Sacred Gears!?" She asked in shock and disbelief. She swung her sword, and as soon as it made contact with Kiba's, the flaming sword froze and instantly broke. But that didn't stop her; she pulled out a short sword from her hip. "Members from the house of Phenex just don't rule over fire, but wind as well!" There was suddenly a whirlwind of burning hot wind, not only affecting Kiba, but everyone else.
"Good strategy..." Kiba started, raising his bladeless sword. "But," He smirked again, "Stop!" The hot gust was sucked into Kiba's sword.
"Just how many Sacred Gears do you have!?" Karlamine asked.
"Just one, the one I created." He revealed. "Sword Birth, it allows me to make any demonic sword I can imagine. The name's a little self-explanatory." He explained. Kiba put his hand down and multiple demonic swords of different shapes emerged from the ground.
Kurai had remembered Torafusa saying something about Kiba having a strange power. "I didn't know there was a Sacred Gear that could do that. It makes sense now why Rias-sama made him a Knight."
"Don't lose your focus during a battle!" Kurai made the mistake of being distracted as Isabella delivered a fierce uppercut as she scolded him. Her attack sent him straight in the air. "She's even stronger than Koneko-chan. At least I got myself some distance," Kurai's wings emerged and he stayed in the air. He held up out his right hand and a blood red magic circle appeared in front of him. "Grimoire Hailstorm!" Dark red bullets of energy rained down and honed in on Isabella, engulfing her in a dome of destructive energy that obscured her from view.
"I learned that during training with Akeno-sama. It can pierce through anything," His eyes widened as Isabella jumped from the dome and flew towards him. He maneuvered around her dodging her punch. Unfortunately, he was struck in the back with her foot.
Kurai plummeted to the ground and extended his wings before he had face faulted into the ground. He stopped and stood on his feet as Isabella did the same.
"Akeno-sama said not to use this," Kurai placed his two indexes and middle fingers in an X-shape and held it out in front of him as another magic circle appeared. "Shadow Alpha"
Four shockwaves flew out of the circle and rushed towards Isabella, who dodged before she was obliterated. The blasts ran into the forest and had unintentionally set it ablaze in a severe explosion that made the ground.
"Damn, I missed," All that power was starting to take its toll and Kurai felt his nose break in a painful bleeding. "I can't use that magic anymore."
"I can't take him out if he keeps using that power," She turned to the woman in the kimono. "Do it now, Mihae!"
"Of course," The female in the kimono said pulling out a staff. She struck the ground and a magic circle purple in color appeared under her feet. "Eternal Requiem."
The area around themselves turned pitch black, and the next thing they knew, everywhere around them was pitch black, as if someone had cut off the lights in the arena.
"What the hell?" Kurai said trying to see where he was.
"I can't see," Kiba's voice rang out.
"This spell casts the area in a darkness that only those in the Phoenix house can see through. No light can shine through it," Mihae explained.
"Sorry boys," Ravel's voice rang out.
Kurai had heard Kiba's sword fight coming from his left. There weren't as many clashes which meant he was on the defensive.
All around him was darkness, so pitch black he didn't know where he even was…or where his opponent was.
"Crap."
Kurai felt his instinctive feeling again and somehow knew where Isabella was going to attack from. He cocked his head to the left and ducked. "Impossible," Isabella's voice said from the darkness.
"Now's my chance," Kurai held out his hand and felt one of her punches made contact. The force was strong enough that it felt like the bone in his arm was going to pierce out. Regardless, he gripped her fist surprising her. "How is it you can still see?"
"I'm not using my eyes, rather…my dragon instincts," He opened his mouth and the others watched as the darkness was seemingly "sucked" into his mouth as if he was a living vacuum cleaner. This went on until all of the darkness from the spell was gone and the vision became normal. The last bit flew into Kurai's mouth and he sighed in content. They all noticed that his hair, which was blond before, was now pitch black. His cheeks blew up in a burp and he pounded his chest with his free hand. "That went weird going down." In an instant, he felt the fatigue and pain from earlier seemingly disappear, and felt in his insides a whole lot stronger.
"He just ate darkness," Ravel said in disbelief.
"What the hell…was that?" Isabella asked. She looked down as his hand was still clenching her fist only to be surprised by the sudden change. Covering his hand were pitch black scales, and a wicked set of claws, almost like that of a lizards.
"Black Dragon Claw!" Kurai flipped in the air as his feet were covered in darkness and struck Isabella, knocking her mask off of her face and breaking it, although she was somewhat harmed, it didn't severely hurt.
"What the hell are you?" She said touching her face that was uncovered. The uncovered part of her face actually looked normal.
"You're fighting the Black Dragon Slayer. It's all over," Kurai declared.
"Dragon Slayer?" Mihae repeated with wide fear filled eyes. "I've heard of his magic."
"Mihae-chan, what is it?" Ravel asked.
"His power was erased from history, deeming it Lost Magic. He gains the property of a dragon, and in turn the power to destroy one. Dragon Slayer Magic."
"Like I care," Isabella gritted her teeth in anger and charged towards him ready to end it. "You still won't defeat me!"
"Get ready to witness the true power of a Dragon Slayer," Kurai said as his eyes glowed red like hot coals. "Black Dragon-" His mouth closed as his cheeks slightly puffed. Isabella unleashed a devastating punch that missed as he dodged it. Knowing he had the perfect opportunity, he opened it releasing an intensely powerful tornado of darkness from his mouth. "Roar!"
Before Isabella could react, she was caught in the wave and screamed. Her body was obscured from view. Her screaming eventually stopped as Kurai's attack faded, revealing she was gone.
[One of Raiser-sama's Rooks has been eliminated]
"Isabella-chan," The night said in shock seeing one of her comrades get eliminated in one hit.
Kurai pumped his fist with a grin, revealing a set on canine teeth. "So this is the power of Lost Magic?"
[Well done, my boy]
"Hey Kage-kun," He looked to Ravel who pointed to her right. It looked as if she had already gotten over one of her own was just taken down. "It seems Onii-sama is going to fight your master."
Kurai and Kiba looked on the roof of the nearby building and saw Rias holding onto Asia as they hovered down. Standing a few yards on the other side was Raiser.
"President," Kiba called out.
"What the hell are you doing?" Kurai asked seeing them land.
(Don't worry you two, we'll be fine)
"You're putting Asia in danger," Kurai replied.
(We'll be fine, Kurai-san)
Hearing her say that didn't make him comfortable at the least. She had absolutely no fighting experience. Rias aside, she couldn't protect herself. He was thrown out of his thoughts as Ravel started laughing.
"What the hell is so funny?" He asked her.
"The Princess of Ruin, Priestess of Thunder, Twilight Healing, Sword Birth, Grimoire's Legacy, and Dragon Slayer Magic. Together, the names make me chill. But a Phoenix is an immortal bird. Your fates were sealed the moment you challenged us," She said in arrogance. "And now you're going to see why. Ni, Li. Siris"
"Nyah," The twin cat girls said in sync. The Knight named Siris nodded and pulled a wicked sword from her back.
"Show him hell," Ravel ordered with an intense glare.
The two cat girls were the first to take action and leaped above him. "Another opening," A magic circle appeared in front of him. "Black Dragon Twin Jaws!"
Two waves of darkness shot from the circle in the form of fangs that lashed at the two girls. They maneuvered around it and dodged as the two blasts pursued them.
As he watched the two, he sensed something coming from above him and back flipped. "Black Dragon Spiral Claw," He rotated in the air blocking Siris' oncoming sword with his right foot.
"He blocked my Zweihänder with a kick?" She said shocked at his actions
(Quick Note: A Zweihänder is a peculiar broadsword that was used during the Middle Ages and is generally wielded with two hands)
Using his left foot, he hooked onto her back and sent her plummeting to the ground by rotating.
Kurai extended his wings and kept himself in the air observing down below. Seeing only three of them, he raised an eyebrow. "Weren't there more of you?"
His question was answered as he felt two bodies land on his back and made him fall to the ground. The two cat girls leapt off and watched him skid across the ground.
Before he had actually made contact, Kurai hardened his body to keep the impact from hurting severely. He stood up as the two of them raised their fists ready for unarmed combat. "You ready to die, nya?"
"What's with the Nyah?"
"When he uses his magic, you have a two second window of opportunity. Use that to take him out," Ravel ordered.
"She could tell all that by watching?" Kurai found himself distracted again and one of them had managed to sweep his leg. He balanced himself on his hands and attempted to hit them with a spinning kick. "Black Dragon-"
Before he could finish, one kicked him in his gut and sent him flying a few feet. As he stood up, one of them attempted to attack him from above. Kurai charged his fist in darkness. "Black Dragon Slash," As she reached his vicinity, he attempted to knock her flying, only to have her land off his hand and maneuvered around his being.
"You're slow," She scolded. "Is this how a dragon fights?" She balanced her hands on his head and brought her legs down. Instead of attacking, she trapped his face in-between her legs and tightened her legs around his neck.
"She's trying to strangle me with her legs? Hold on…wait a minute," It took him a minute to process that his face was currently in her lower region completely blocked by panties. The moment he realized this, his face was red as blood spurted out of his nose.
"My Li-neechan, that's daring of you." The red head sister said with a sly smirk.
"Their using his women weakness to their advantage," Kiba said lowering his sword. "That's low."
Karlamine ceased and watched Kurai trying to pry her friend off. "That's completely degrading."
The two shrugged their shoulders before continuing with their clash.
Kurai was running around trying to pry off of him. "Get the hell off of me," His voice was muffled but it definitely sounded like he was freaking out.
"Please don't talk, it tickles," The blue head said with a slight moan.
"I can't fight like this," At that moment, he remembered the spell from Isabella. "Blick Drugon-"
Li tightened her legs suffocating and keeping him from blasting her off of him.
"Nice try, but we were specifically trained if we had to deal with you," She scoffed loving the sight of him struggling. She flipped off of him and landed next to his sister. "Get him Siris."
Kurai looked above and quickly manuevered to the left as the Knight's sword struck where he had stood moments ago. He again ducked as she tried a side slash. "Why do you dodge?"
"It's the normal thing to do," Kurai replied. He sent one more Black Dragon Claw to intercept her kick and had managed to push her back.
"You're just delaying the inevitable," She said pointing her blade at him. "No Pawn has the right to be called a Dragon Slayer. That epiphet only belongs to a Knight."
The next thing Kurai knew, he found himself surrounded by each one of the five girls. Each had the look that meant they were serious.
"I used too much of my magic." He muttered to himself trying to keep himself on his feet. The effects of using all those spells at one time was starting to take its toll and he felt like he was bound to throw up any second. "I'm almost out of strength," Unfortunately, Ravel heard what he said.
"Dragon Slayers would eat their elements for strength and power. Without any darkness around, you'll be powerless sooner or later. In other words, it's our take," She laughed like a spoiled princess.
"Their elements, is that right?"
A sudden explosion drew their attention to the rooftop where Rias and Raiser were fighting. Both sent their most powerful hits at each other that generated massive of dome of fire on contact.
"Rias-sama, Asia," Kurai groaned in fear seeing that even Asia was submerged in the flames.
(We're fine, but you need to focus. Show them what it means to be a Gremory)
"I don't have any magic left," The two cat girls snuck an attack in and had struck him in several pressure points that had placed him on his knees.
"Crap, I can't move my hands or my legs," The only thing he could move was his head.
Siris approached and placed her sword near his neck. She swung it near her shoulder in order to end it in a quick blow. "I'll make your death quick."
She swung her sword and droplets of blood flew everywhere. Each one of them held a look of shock and disbelief.
"Kurai-kun!" Kiba yelled turning to them.
"He stopped her sword," Ravel said with wide eyes.
"With his teeth?"
The blade was stuck in between his canine like teeth as he clamped down refusing to let go. The blade of course had nicked him in lips and blood was drooling out of his mouth. With sheer force, he bit down and completely broke it in half. The bits of metal remnants in his mouth was swallowed as he gulped it down.
"He just ate iron," Kiba said in shock watching the ordeal.
"You said Dragon Slayers eat elements, isn't that right?" Kurai picked up the piece that was broken and bit by bit ate it until there was nothing left. He wasn't expecting it to taste good, but he was surprised that went down easier than expected. Yet it tasted somewhat like quarters. "What about eating other elements then?"
A green aura of energy surrounded him that gradually turned dark in color. His pitch black scaled claws glinted and shined as if they were polished.
"His magic had fused with the iron," Siris observed.
"How is that even possible?" The red head twin Ni asked.
"Dragon Slayers have a very special internal system. Dual elemental modes aren't rare if they eat an element other than their own," Mihae explained.
"The Black Iron Dragon," Ravel said.
"I only have one shot," Kurai gritted. "Kiba unleash your Sword Birth to full power!" He yelled.
"What?" He said as if the idea was preposterous. He thought for a mere second before strinking his sword into the ground. "Sword Birth!"
He released an intense energy that ran into the ground and snaked near Kurai. The moment it was in his vicinity, it was sucked in his mouth as he attempted to eat it.
"He's eating the Knight's power," Ravel said. She was disgusted at how barbarinc he was when he came to eating anything in his path.
"This doesn't look good," Mihae said.
"What's he doing?" Siris asked.
Kurai had spread his arms out in a falcon like stance. "Dragon Slayer Advanced Technique: Dragon Sword-God Pillar"
Several swords of various sizes and shapes struck from the ground, each the size of marble colums that pierced and slashed across the remaining players. One by one, each one of them disappeared screaming in agony from being stabbed.
The last one remaining, Karlamine, hacked blood as she slowly disappeared. "We admit defeat."
[Two of Raiser-sama's Knights, one of his Bishops, and two of his Pawns have been eliminated]
"We're down to only five. While he only has three left," He smirked. That was until:
[Rias-sama, one Queen has been eliminated]
For a brief second, time seemed to have slowed down as it too Kurai a second to process what he just heard. "Akeno-sama...lost?"
Before he could even think, he heard in explosion from his right as the ground trembled and looked to see a horrid sight. Kiba was horribly burnt beyond recognition as if he had just walked straight into a fire.
"Kiba," Kurai attempted to help him, but fell and clutched his stomach in agony as it felt like someone was stabbing him from the inside. He then coughed up blood that splattered across the floor as his hair turned back to blond. "How? I didn't even use Grimoire's Legacy."
[It's because you've over exceeded the limit of your power. Your running on empty]
"What?"
[Rias-sama's Knight has been eliminated]
Kurai attempted to stand in order to run, but found himself on his hands and knees as he could no longer move anymore. He sensed a familiar, more malevolent power and looked up to see Raiser's Queen hovering above him.
"Damn you," He said glaring at her.
"One Rook, one Queen, and one Knight," She pointed her staff ready to present him the same fate. "And now a Pawn."
Kurai had managed to pull together some degree of strength and stood up in an unsupportive manner, where it was difficult for him to remain his balance. "I cannot allow myself...to go out now."
"Hold on, Yubelluna," They both turned as Ravel flew next to her. Instead of the normal Devil wings, her wings were eagle like wings completely made out of fire. "That took longer than expected."
Yubelluna nodded and reached for her neck. "She was every bit as strong as the rumors said," She pulled a small necklace from her neck and presented it with a smirk. "If i hadn't had used this, the outcome would've been different."
"Go help Onii-sama and lets wrap this up," Ravel ordered pointing to the building where several explosions occured via both Kings. "I'll handle him on my own."
"My lady?" Yubelluna said surprised at her demands. Regardless, she complied and flew off.
As Ravel flew down and her wings disappeared, Kurai walked up to her in a limp. "So you're going to fight me on your own?" He asked.
"Like I said, I don't lower myself to barbarics. I let my servants do the dirty work," She said.
"By the way, what was in that bottle your queen used?" He asked.
Ravel pulled out a similar vial and lowered her head. "The tears of Phoenixes. Any injury, fatigue, sickness, or even magic depletion, no matter how severe is cured instantaneously when ingested. Our familie's sacred treasure."
"That has to be some breach in the rules," Kurai replied with an unruly sneer.
Ravel placed the vial back in her dress. "We're only allowed two. Besides, your Bishop over there possesses Twilight Healing. But our tears are still superior. Like I said before, your fates were sealed the moment you challenged us. The Phenex clan has always emerged victorious."
"Why did you stop your Queen from finishing me off?"
"Because you've made the game interesting. For once, I'm actually not bored," As she saw him begin to walk off, she stopped him with a question. "Where did you learn Dragon Slayer Magic?"
"Why do you care?" He replied. Something told him she wasn't going to attack anytime soon. Reluctantly, he answered. "The Black Dragon Lord Torafusa."
She smirked as she went on. "Lost Magic. Magic that was erased from history because of it's destructive power and devestating side effects," She told him. "Anyone with that magic could fight on par with the wielders of the Thirteen Longinus Sacred Gears. And to think you possess two of them. You must have some kind of death wish. But no matter what, your magic could never slay a Phoenix."
She saw him walk off with his back turned to her. "Are you ignoring me?"
"You talk too much. It actually hurts more listening to you than any of this bullshit," He said placing his hands over his ears like he had developed a headache.
Ravel's head was red from fury having being insulted by a Low Class Devil. "Where do you think you're going?" She said trying to get his attention.
Kurai stopped midway and kept his back turned to her. "I'm going to make your brother ashes beneath my foot, one way or another," He turned his head towards her revealing his red demonic like eyes. "And then your next."
She growled and flew off as he managed to start a run to the building. "Did you get it?"
From the chest pocket on his dress shirt, Yuki popped out carrying a small vial in his stubby arms. "Ha."
Kurai ran inside and stopped at the beginning of the stairs that would lead to the roof. Before he took a step, he pulled out the vial and unscrewed the cap. "Helps with magic depletion? I got nothing to lose," Without hesitation, he swigged the tiny contents and cringed at how bitter it was. Like trying to down a bottle of alcohol. But he could already feel his magic power returning in under a second. His fatigue and weariness disappeared before he knew it. "If she had used this, that still means Akeno-sama is a force to be reckoned with."
He realized he was in "enemy territory" and was cleared for a promotion. "Queen."
At that moment, it felt as if a second tank had found its way in his system and pumped even more power in his veins. "I've come this far. And I won't back down now," He descended up the stairs and felt the ground shook from the explosions above. "Koneko-chan, Kiba, Akeno-sama, thank you for everything."
"This is boring Rias," Raiser said defending another one of her blasts with his fire. "Face it, you look like you're bound to pass out."
"As long as I'm standing, I'll never lose to bastards like you," Rias defended with intensity in not only her voice, but her eyes.
Asia continued using her Twilight Healing to keep Rias in good condition. "He's so strong. We haven't made any progress."
"Don't lose faith Asia," Rias ordered with a ensuring smile.
Yubelluna appeared next to Raiser and hovered next to him. "A very interesting Sacred Gear, Twilight Healing."
"If I remember correctly, your Bishop was once a devote Christian. It's ironic when you think about it," Raiser's hand erupted into a vast quantity of flames that was five times bigger than a human. "How about I show her what God truly looks like?"
"Black Dragon Spiral Claw!"
Raiser turned to the side, only to meet an immediate devastating spinning kick that made his head turn a full 180 as a black blur passed by him in the air.
It took Raiser a second to catch on with his position and forcefully turned his head with his hands. The moment his head was in the right direction, two joined hands formed into a fist slammed onto his head and sent him into the ground that slightly crumbled the rooftop, but not enough to go down into the next level. "Black Dragon Splitting Axe!"
"Kurai," Rias said glad to see he was alright.
Asia was overjoyed seeing him. "You came."
"Raiser-sama!" Yubelluna said surprised at the sneak attack.
"Didn't I say, you'd be ashes beneath my foot?" Kurai said stomping his foot on the unconscious man's back. That moment was short lived as Raiser's body glowed brightly to an eye burning degree.
"Get away from him quick!"
Rias's words came too late as Raiser detonated like a bomb and sent Kurai flying in a devastating explosion that knocked him close to both girls. "Are you okay?"
He got up and shrugged it off, despite his shirt being slightly burned. "I'll be fine," The scales covering his arms was what protected him from most of the burns. Regardless, he still felt a little bit of searing pain, which slowly began to fade. He turned to see Asia using her healing on both him and Rias. "You came for us. At that moment, I felt relieved."
Kurai sighed as his pain disappeared completely. "I'm going to make it up to you for putting you through something like this."
Asia shook her head. "Honestly, I'm glad that I could feel useful."
"That makes two of us," He said to himself. "You're incredibly valuable to us, so you need to stay back after you heal us."
Asia held a shocked face. Her expression told him that she didn't imagine for him to say that to her.
"If you stay, then you can heal the both of us. You are like our lifeline," Rias told her.
Asia had a sad face and it seems like she wanted to say something. But she closed her lips and stepped back. "Yes."
Raiser emerged from the crater as flames covered most of his body. "Yubelluna, take away their ace in the hole."
"Of course," Yubelluna snapped her fingers and both Kurai and Rias readied themselves to take on whatever she could throw. After a few seconds, they looked at themselves for any change or injury..
"Nothing happened," Kurai looked at Asia and widened his eyes seeing a collar of purple light latched around her neck. "It's blocking off my Twilight Healing," Kurai gritted his teeth as he readied his claws to tear it until Rias stopped him. "Don't. That there is a bomb." She pointed to the symbolic message on the collar. "If we try to force it off, it'll detonate."
"Kurai-san," Asia pleaded with tears in her eyes
"Damn it," He wasn't entirely surprised, seeing as her name was the Bomb Queen. But that didn't mean he wasn't still pissed they would stoop that low.
Raiser gritted is teeth at the sight of Kurai as the latter scowled at him. "The Dragon Brat? I can't believe your still alive."
"Ravel-sama had stopped me from killing him," Yubelluna explained. "Forgive me."
"It seem dear little sister has taken matters into her own hands, it doesn't matter. How about you resign Rias? Or else both of you remaining servants will suffer," Raiser suggested holding out his hand.
"Black Dragon Roar!"
Rias scowled and blasted an intense amount of demonic energy at Raiser. The two shots combined and struck him head on, engulfing him in an explosion that tore off half of his body.
"We got him," Kurai ceased celebrating seeing Rias's serious glare. He turned back only to see Raiser's body slowly begin to reform from the flames covering his body.
"We hit him with that much power," Kurai told her.
"What he's doing is the reason the Phenex clan is so well known," She told him.
"Immortality," Kurai remembered. He clenched his fist and stood in front of Rias with his hair covering his eyes. "Rias-sama, let me take him on."
"Huh?" Raiser said as if he was hearing things. "You want to face me? As in one on one?"
"Kurai, you don't have to force yourself to do this," Rias pleaded. "You can't underestimate his power."
"I don't think of his power as weak. Rather, I think of mine as stronger," Kurai readied himself to fight.
"Your arrogance will be the death of you," Raiser taunted. "You can never truly grasp the power a Phoenix holds."
"Ten days ago, I made a pledge as a Gremory servant. That I was going to be the one to defeat you, and I would prove to myself my own worth. Despite my flaws, all my comrades helped me through this. They were just as excited for this as I was nervous," He said.
Raiser clicked his tongue and smirked. "You made a mistake, thinking you can defeat me. Something not even your own King could do," Raiser was surprised at his smirk.
"A mistake isn't going to scare me. I've made way too many of them to fear them any longer," He stood in a stance with his feet spread apart and his hands eagled. "But the real mistake would be going down now when all they did was help," His foot made the ground beneath his feet crumble as he covered himself in dark energy and ran at Raiser with his left fist sticking out. "Especially when they give me the power-" Raiser attempted to block, only for Kurai to give him a sudden right hook in the gut. "To kick your ass!"
The force of the punch made Raiser hack up saliva as he felt his shirt being gripped on and flew a few feet sliding down the side of the roof.
"Raiser-sama!" Yubelluna pointed his staff ready to take care of him, when Raiser waved her off as he stood up. "Don't do a thing Yubelluna. Just watch as I show him his pl-"
"Black Dragon Crushing Fang!"
He didn't know that Kurai was flying straight above him until he made himself known by dive bombing Raiser and crashing the both of them down into the building through the roof by clutching his head with his hand.
Kurai flew through the hole and turned his head towards ready to unleash his favorite attack. "Black Dragon Roar!"
The attack blew into the hole and surrounded the area, blowing out all the windows sending glass flying everywhere as more of his blast shot out of the windows.
"Where did Kurai learn magic like this. He's completely dominating Raiser," Rias said in surprise at how easy he made it look.
"Dragon Slayer Magic," Asia told her with a sincere smile. "Torafusa-san taught it to him. Kurai-san is going to win."
Kurai ceased his roar and flew back as Raiser emerged from the hole with his wings ablazed in fire. The heat he was giving off was intensely bright, and intense. His clothes were slightly torn and ripped to where a majority of his jacket was missing. He flew down back into the roof and released his wings as he saw Kurai slightly out of breath and panting with an intense glare.
"Why not admit defeat and accept your fate?" He asked him.
Kurai's hands erupted into dark energy and was about to take him out. "I'm going to destroy you."
"We'll see," Raiser waved his hands and blasted an intense amount of fire that went straight for Kurai, who merely smirked with his eyes hidden. "Ready, Torafusa?"
[Let's end this]
Raiser's attack completely covered him and he was submerged, lost in his flames.
"Kurai!" Rias yelled.
"Kurai-san!" Asia screamed.
"There's no way he survived that," Raiser was suddenly met with a punch to the face and flew into the pillar on the other end crashing into it. "What?"
Kurai slammed his fist on to the top of his head and made him lose his balance. He followed with an uppercut that sent him back in the air, and followed with a kick to his gut.
"This is what happens to those who fuck with us!" An image of Koneko's sudden demise flashed in his head and had him grinding his teeth as he continued clobbering Raiser not giving him a chance to counter.
"So this is the power of Dragon Slayer Magic?" Yubelluna thought seeing her master get overpowered with a slight grin. "If we weren't interrupted, I wonder what would've happened."
"I'll make you pay!" Kiba's defeat flashed in his head and his anger reached its peak. He forced Raiser on his back with a severe punch that made him grit his teeth. "I don't understand. He's not the weakling that Mira easily defeated," He said staring at his intense red eyes full of burning hatred and rage.
"It's like he's completely turned into a monster," Rias said observing him. "He's really pouring it on."
[Kurai, your anger has reached it's climax. End him]
"If it's for Rias-sama's happiness, then I won't lose!" Kurai jumped up in the air and held out both of his hands. On his left was his Dragon Slayer magic, and in his right, his gauntlet was summoned and was covered in his Grimoire's Legacy. He placed both energys together and created an intense ball of dark purple red energy that swirled around. "The Dragon sits on my left, and the Devil sleeps within my right."
The clash of the resulting energies made the air shake with tension and sucked in all of the rubble and matter within it.
"What the hell kind of spell is this?" Raiser's eyes widened as he stood up and glared at him.
"Kurai," Rias thought to himself. "Become the strongest pawn. I know you can do it."
"Black Dragon-!" Kurai raised his hands and the spell's level became god like.
Raiser's eyes widened as he felt something that was completely foreign to him.
"Grimoire Ty-"
Raiser held out his hand and released a concentrated and pressurized blade of flames that sliced clean through Kurai's arm, lopping it off and cancelling his attack. Kurai stuttered as he felt an immense pain running through the right side of his body. Kurai fell back from shock and landed on his back in the ground.
"Kurai...no," Rias said seeing him in that state. Asia held a look of intense fear and covered her mouth in shock seeing him plummet and land in a thud along with his severed arm, which flew a few yards and landed a good distance away from him. His stump was spurting crimson red blood that stained his clothes.
"My Dragon Slayer magic...failed?" Kurai said as if the thought was impossible. "Torafusa...help me."
He didn't hear Torafusa's voice at all. No sharp response, or voice of encouragment. It was as if his soul was splitted away along with his arm. "No. I couldn't lose...I was supposed to be..the strongest pawn that's ever lived. No one would be able to defeat me."
Raiser flew and landed next to his severed hand, the end of it was bleeding immensely and pooling the ground with blood. "The arm of the Black Dragon. I kind of feel sorry for him," He tossed it over his shoulder as if it was nothing. He looked down at Kurai's pitiful state and merely and chuckled. His chuckle turned from a snicker into full laughter. "You really thought you could defeat me? Me!? The most powerful warrior there is? Don't fuck with me!" He slammed his foot into Kurai's ribs and the latter hacked up blood in agony. Raiser twisted his foot making the pain even worse.
Rias slid down the side of the roof and stopped at the edge. "Raiser, just what do you think you're doing?"
Raiser held out his hand forming a large fireball that was bound to end him once and for all. "What does it look like? I'm going to show him his place as nothing more than a servant. YAAH!" He looked down as Kurai sank his teeth in his hand, tearing off a chunk with his hand that immediately regenerated. "Shows what you know," He told him standing up uneasily and shook up, with a wicked grin on his face. He chuckled slightly and laughed "If you want me dead, go ahead." Raiser realized that instead of glowing red, his eyes were pitch black like beetles. "If you want to kill me with your flames," He pounded his chest. "HIT ME EVERYTHING YOU'VE GOT!"
"What the hells wrong with him? Just moments ago he was wallowing in defeat. Now he's asking me to kill him? Did he finally snap?" Raiser said to himself holding on to his flames for a moment seeing where this was leading to.
"Are you an idiot? Show me your worth, or are you just talk?" Kurai told him with a psychotic look in his eyes. By the looks of it, his sanity was hanging by a thread, to the point he must have forgotten his arm was missing.
"Didn't you hear me? DESTROY ME! END ME IF YOU THINK YOU HAVE THE GUTS!"
Raiser was at his limit with him and reeled his fireball back ready to end this, when something already had beat him to it.
Something had hit Kurai square in his back and caught him off guard, whatever it was looked like it did a number as he fell on his knees with a look of griping pain.
He turned his head and saw Rias standing behind him with her arm sticking out, her hand was covered in her demonic energy, meaning she was the one who had hit him. She had a sad smile on her face and her eyes were full of tears. "That's enough Kurai," Her voice was cracked as if it hurt to speak. "You may stand down."
"Rias-sama, why? Are you insane?" His eyes widened seeing the tears fall from her cheek and into the ground.
"You've performed well, but it is time for you to rest," She blasted him in the back with one more shot of her power. The result was him lying on the ground revealing a severe burn on his back that made him huddle in agony as his body slowly started to disappear. His severed arm was the first to go. Rias walked up to him and placed a hand on his head ruffling his hair. "I've never been prouder," As she said this, his body fully disappeared, and he was taken out of the game.
[Rias-sama, one Pawn...has been eliminated]
"What kind of strategy is this? Taking out your own soldier?" Raiser questioned. "Not that I mind, he was only in the way. Now then, shall we?"
Rias clenched her fists and shook biting her lip. "I resign," She told him without hesitation, much to his shock that she caved in this quickly.
"Come again?"
"They all did their best...but in the end, I give up," She told him shaking. Inside, she could never forgive herself for pushing them to do something that they clearly weren't ready for.
Asia shook her head with tears as her collar disappeared. "Rias, no."
For her, she didn't know what was the worst of it. Having to see her friends fall one by one, having the one she looked up to put down her own like they was a wild animal. But now having her quit after coming this far was too much to take.
[Rias-sama has resigned. Raiser Phenex-sama is the winner of the Rating Game]
"God Dammit!" Deveen yelled out, his voice echoed across the terrain. "So close, so fucking close!"
Torafusa was nowhere in sight, and Deveen had never found himself this happy, until moments ago. "As long as he has ownership of my powers, I can never escape. I'm finally rid of that reptilian bastard, and it all falls apart," He gritted, his shark teeth showing, at the screen and saw the one person who got in his way. The one he now swore to kill for interfering with his plans.
"You've angered the one person you never want angry," His voice was deeply demonic, as if several him talked in sync. "Rias Gremory, I will take everything you hold dear, and have you watch as it all crashes into the ground."
And there you have it folks. The Rating Game and the end results.
Now if most of you have not been to my profile, I recently became a Beta Reader, and am currently accepting stories.
I am finally out of school, and will have more chapters to write.
Anyway, so this story is going on a short term hiatus. I'm going to try to focus on my Rise of the Demon Sword fic and hopefully Demon Chronicles. So I leave you at this.
Kurai gains Dragon Slayer Magic. Yes, total Fairy Tail rip off, and I do not care. If some of you are going to say I ripped off Rogue, you're most likely right. Although there is a distinction.
If anyone of you haven't noticed, some of Kurai's moves were based off his Seven Sinful Incantations that he uses in Demon to Vampire. And a few spells that I made up.
Anyway, so there will be delay like I said. Read, Review, Follow and Favorite
Let me finish by saying that I am happy at how this story has become extremely popular.
Alright next time, with the Fall of the Phoenix
