A/N: I know I need to update Of Lightning and Bugs and I will, but this story is mind blocking me so I want to finish this first. Only two chapters left on that one anyway, but I promise I haven't forgotten.

So this chapter is very very short I know, there are a few bugs I want to work out before posting the rest but I still wanted to get some feed back on what I have so far.

Usual apologies. Especially spelling I did a quick spell check but I'm pretty sure there are still a lot of mistakes.

Disclaimer: I own nothing

Sasuke surged forward, gripping the girls hair with the strength that would probably hurt any normal human being.

Its a good thing they aren't.

Karui responded by wrapping her arms tighter around his neck to bring him closer, moaning under the kiss.

Not that the Uchiha wasn't enjoying himself, but he couldn't help but wonder what had brought this kind of behaviour out of the girl. Karui wasn't the type to just do something like this for no reason, mates pull or no mates pull.

It all happened too fast for him to understand.

First Karui pulls him aside to talk to him about something, next thing he knows the redhead's got her arms around his neck kissing him like her life depended on it.

Come to think of it, Karui had been acting strangely all day. She kept zoning out, like her mind was elsewhere and there something more important to do somewhere else.

And the kiss...

As Sasuke titled the girls head back just a bit to deepen it, he realised that there was something off about it something almost searching.

Like she was looking for something that couldnt be found.

As much as it pained him to do it Sasuke pulled away, a low whimper threatening to escape at the loss of contact. He looked down at the girl who had torn her eyes open revealing two bright eyes which seemed to be darkened by lust... And something else.

"What are you doing?" The raven managed catching his breath after a few moments.

Karui looked up at him before dropping her gaze to the floor. The redhead bit her lip pulling her arms away from his neck and wrapping them around her waist, a gesture that Sasuke knew by now.

Something was wrong.

"Its not the same." She whispered taking a few steps away from the Uchiha.

Confusion flashed in his features and he moved to grab Karui's shoulders to spin her around. "What are you talking about, what's not the same?"

Karui stared at him for a few moments in complete silence until-

"How did your brother die?"

Onyx eyes went wide and his body went tense. Why the sudden change in topic? And why this?

"Is it true that you killed him?"

Sasuke flinched but didn't move. How does she know about that? He never told her, he's been meaning to but its just-

"Karui-"

"Yes or no, Sasuke." Karui growled anger and hurt burning in her eyes.

Karui tilted her head back, smiling as a warm breeze blew passed her face. It had been almost a week since Naruto's announcement at Sasuke's and Karui was glad to find that Kurotsuchi now had a new target for her relentless teasing.

However that didn't last long.

The raven said that messing with Hinata just wasn't as fun as messing with Karui. That Hinata blushes way too easily, where as getting a red tint on Karui's face was a bit more of a challenge, "And I love a good challenge." She'd said giving Karui a proud grin.

So needless to say Hinata was removed from the bulls eye and replaced with Karui. Sometimes Karui wonders why she has such a crude best friend.

The redhead tapped her fingers on the strap of her back back as she made her way home, strolling at a pace very similar to that of her brother's.

Sasuke had something to take care of so he couldn't walk her home today, which Karui didn't mind. Things had been getting a bit intense as of late so the girl was relieved to get some time to herself. Time that Sasuke technically wasn't aware of.

Even though Karui could shift, Sasuke still insisted on having someone around to protect her in case something happens. Which was ridiculous.

Seriously what are the chances of her getting attacked again. She hasn't been involved in the world of Kaiju for very long but she refuses to believe that everyday is just one catastrophe after another.

So after a lot of excuses, and a few white lies, Karui managed to shake off her entourage. Which consisted of Suigetsu, Juugo and Karin.

Although it wasn't easy.

Karin was obviously desperate to see Darui again so Karui had to all but use a crowbar to get her to back off.

She knew that Sasuke would probably be pissed when he found out but at the same time she didn't really care. They've been spending almost every single day together and although she wasn't totally against all this attention, she needed some space.

Still. The Uchiha's grown on her, maybe not enough for her to totally submit to him but enough for her cheeks to flush and her heart to pound a little harder at the sound of his voice.

Of course he doesn't have to know about that.

The sun was hanging low in the sky and Karui picked at the sleeve of her baseball uniform before twirling a steel bat in one hand and shoving it into her back pack, when a low sound made her freeze.

A new scent drifted thought the air, although somehow it was eerily familiar.

"Hey."

Karui spun around and found a silver haired man standing a few feet away from her. After taking a deep breath the redhead finally placed why it seemed so familiar.

Its the same scent that always seemed to linger around Suigetsu, Juugo and Karin, only it was a bit darker. A scent that immediately made her think of those people that keep attacking her.

And there was something else... It kind of reminded her of Sasuke.

Karui's body tensed and she glared at the man.

"What do you want?"

"Don't worry, I just want to talk." The man said raising his hands in surrender as he took a step forward.

A low growl escaped her throat and although her lack of trust was completely justified, Karui couldn't help but feel guilty for doing so.

"My name is Yakushi Kabuto." He said sliding his hands into his pockets and giving a warm smile. "You're Karui, right?"

Karui flinched unsure of why her name sounded so different coming from him, kinda like it did when Sasuke said it.

What the hell is going on?!

"I said what do you want?"

"You." The man smirked when Karui's eyes widened just a bit before returning to their previous glare. Great another attack, 'I hate it when Sasuke's right!'

"Too bad you can't have me!"

Kabuto tilted his head to the side, "Why not?"

"Because-"

"Because you're Sasuke's?"

Karui growled in agitation, "No, I don't belong to anyone!"

"Of course not," Kabuto took a few steps forward making Karui take one back. "You're independent, you're your own person. You should be able to make your own choices, without being forced into anything by anyone."

The redhead couldn't help but feel like this talk was really just Kabuto trying to hint at something, but for now she chose to ignore it. "Exactly and right now I choose for you to get lost."

"Alright, whatever you want. But first I want to know why you chose Sasuke."

"Excuse me?" How does he know about Sasuke, matter of a fact how does he know anything about Karui?

"He's your mate right? Why did you pick him? Out of every Kaiju on the face of this planet, why Uchiha Sasuke?"

The redhead's eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "What are you talking about? I didnt-"

"You mean you didn't choose Sasuke?" A look of shock came over the silver haired males face, until it was replaced with one of understanding. "Oh, they didn't tell you did they?"

"Tell me what?"

"Just because Sasuke mated you, doesn't mean you have to be with him."

"What?"

"You do have a choice Karui, no one can force you into anything."

"But," Karui stared at the man in disbelief. "But they-"

"They said you were his soul mate, it would kill him if you were apart. That your bond is eternal, that you two can never be apart. That you had no say against natures will." Kabuto whispered the last part as he kept moving closer, while Karui just stared at him unable to move with the massive amount of information being forced on her.

"But you do have a say Karui. Its extremely rare but it is possible for a Kaiju to have two possible mates."

"And seeing as how you don't have your mark yet, the choice is still yours." Kabuto was less than two feet away now, unfortunately Karui barely noticed.

Was it true?

Have they been lying to her this whole time?

Something in her chest pulled at the thought of Sasuke or anyone she knew lying to her about something like this. He had to be wrong.

The girl glared up at him rage burning in her gaze, "You're lying!"

Kabuto gave a sigh, "No, I'm not. You know I'm telling you the truth, otherwise you would've already shifted and attacked me by now."

Karui briefly wondered why the idea of shifting hadn't even crossed her mind until now, but she wouldn't show it.

"Why do you care anyway?! Besides you said it was rare, what are the chances of that actually happening to me?"

Kabuto smiled and reached out to brush the back of his hand against Karui's cheek. Strangely enough she didn't flinch or try to move away. Something in her went lax and she started leaning into the touch.

"I care because," Kabuto leaned forward, warm breath ghosting against the girls ear as he whispered. "I mated you too."

Karui's fuzzy mind instantly cleared in shock, her head snapped up to look the silver haired man in the eyes and she took a step back. "...what."

"You're my mate, Karui."

"That's impossible!"

"Is it really? How can you be so sure?" Kabuto said tilting his head to the side. "You only found out about the Kaiju a few months ago and those around you have obviously been lying to you. Besides you can feel it can't you?"

He reached out and threaded his hand through her hair, making the girls breath hitch and her eyes slide shut.

As horrifying as it is to admit, she could feel it.

An instant pull towards the man in front of her, his voice and touch seeming to instantly calm her. Just like Sasuke...

Karui's eyes snapped open at the thought.

Sasuke.

Even if Kabuto is right, what about Sasuke. Sure he's an asshole but she does have feelings for him plus he mated her first... or atleast told her first, so what's she supposed to do.

"I-" the redhead took a step back pulling away from Kabuto's touch. "Sasuke is-"

"Lying to you. They all have," concern glowed on the man's face. "Did he tell you about Orochimaru or his brother Itachi?"

Karui stayed silent resisting the urge to flinch away.

"I take that as a, no. He won't tell you because he's scared you'll leave him and once you do, he'll be cut off from the mark's power and he'll be as weak as he was before. But I don't care about that, just you." Kabuto closed the distance between them and Karui stood still confusion gluing her on the spot.

"I'll tell you everything about me, every dark secret I have."

"Why?"

Kabuto smiled tracing the side of her neck with his finger. "Because I don't want to see you hurt."

When Karui got back home she was more than just a little bit confused. She avoided everyone around her and locked herself in her room. Even ignored Killerbee's threats to break down her door.

Sasuke called and she answered but just told him that she'd seen him the next day to talk.

The redhead sank down to the floor of her room, anger and betrayal raging on inside of her.

They've been lying to her this whole time about everything.

Something deep inside of her whined in protest of her even considering that Sasuke could be lying to her. But so far she had no proof that he wasn't.

Kabuto however did prove his honesty.

He told her everything, how he grew up, the people that he's killed, about Orochimaru everything!

Her head was still reeling at what he'd told her about Sasuke.

Did he really do all those things? Cause all that misery?

Kill his own brother?!

Karui's heart ached at the thought, its not that she couldn't believe it she just didn't want to.

And of course she still wasn't sure what to do about Kabuto. If he really did mate her, what should she do?

Leave Sasuke or reject Kabuto?

Her mind kept running into a brick wall. Just before he left the silver haired man kissed her, a sign of assurance is what he called it. Something to help Karui decide.

It was so different.

She'd only kissed Sasuke twice, but the sensation was engraved into her senses.

Kabuto was a lot more forceful than Sasuke was, leaving little to the imagination. His grasp around her waist and in her hair was almost unbearably tight and the kiss itself just drowning in lust. It felt wrong and uncomfortable, but somehow right.

Sasuke's wasn't like that.

But maybe... Its because their intentions weren't the same. With the Uchiha it was more affection than anything else, it was kinda sweet how un-Sasuke like it was.

But with Kabuto it was obvious that if she hadn't stopped him it would've gone a lot further than just a kiss.

Whatever it was, Karui was still confused.

The redhead gave a sigh. The only way to get any real answers is to ask Sasuke himself.

Hopefully Kabuto was wrong.
