Chapter Nine

Diana POV

This is all my fault; I did this to my sister. All because I couldn't deal with my dark magic, all because I couldn't tell Cassie that she was a good sister. She had to go off proving it to me again. Now she is in a coma, and they have no clue to when or if she will ever come out. Charles Amelia and my grandmother were all released from the hospital yesterday. Ethan had to take Amelia home to get some rest and the rest of the circle members went home for the most part, Adam bounces in and out but he and Charles are trying to figure out what Blackwell is up to, Dawn is trying to contact Faye since nobody has seen her since Melissa's death. Crap we have her funeral services tomorrow. I can't deal with all of this. Jake and I are the only ones at the hospital he refused to leave, and so did I. I have to be here for her she needs to pull through, I need her. *BEEP*BEEP*BEEP* the sound of the machines are all I have heard for 36 hours have barley slept a wink. And the continuous thought this is all my fault, keeps rolling over and over in my mind.

"Diana," Jake said. All of the sudden he was standing next to me grabbing my arm shaking me.

"Yeah," I said questionly.

"I'm going out for food and coffee, would you like some," he asked red rimed his eyes along with dark shadows.

"Yeah sure I'll take a coffee, I am not really hungry," I said, Jake opened his mouth getting ready to argue but closed it and left the room. I laid back on the couch/bed and tried again to get some sleep at all.

Jake POV

I walked down the sickly blank hallway; I have to get out of here the beeping of Cassie's machines keeps echoing in my head. I feel completely defeated have to find a way to save her I have to. Coming out of the last door I ran into some one.

"OH, shit excuse me," I said but I looked up and it was Adam. "Oh, hey what's up with Blackwell and his evil spawn," I asked.

"It's nothing good, Blackwell and the children are holding up in the abandon house, and he sent you this," he said handing a letter to me. He didn't look that good at all. I knew he was tearing himself apart from his ride on the wild side but every one goes a little crazy at some point. I opened the envelope.

Dear Jake,

I know you want to save Cassie, I am the only one with enough magic and practice to save her, but Diana needs to comply with binding the Blackwell circle or Cassie will die.

Sincerely,

John Blackwell

I felt all of the blood drain form my face. Diana has to join the Blackwell circle or Cassie dies. GREAT! Adam as still staring at me. I handed him the note without saying a word.

"We need to call a meeting," I said as he handed it back. He gave me one simple node and walked away.

Me and Diana Scarfed down food in the visitor area right outside Cassie's room while we waited for the rest of the circle. I figured if Diana got some sleep she might be hungry and what do you know as soon as I handed her the burger fry's and coffee I bought for her she scarfed all of it down.

"thank you for everything you have done for me Jake truly, you kept my secret when I came down here, took care of my sister while I was away, and convinced me to do the right thing when no one else could of, I really owe you one," She said after taking a big gulp of coffee.

"Or fifty," I sad and chuckled. It sounded strange forced. I was dreading the moment I had to tell her about the note. Amelia, Charles, and Adam walked in.

I stood and grabbed Amelia into a huge hug. I already saw the tear streaks across her face.

"OK, so no Faye?" I asked.

"No, when we went to confront Blackwell, we found her there she said she knows who's side she is one and it's not ours, and Dawn is also helping us in this she is on her way," he said sitting next to Diana. She scooted a little farther away from him.

"Ok, so earlier Adam gave me this note from Blackwell, it states that he is the only one who can save Cassie, he has the training and the magic but in return Diana…. Diana has to agree to join him and their siblings," I said struggling to get the last part out.

"NO," Charles yells standing now. "No way is my daughter giving herself up to that laying no good scum bag, Monster!" his face was turning red and I could see the veins poking out in his neck. Dawn walked through the door with Ethan.

"I don't think it's safe for Diana to risk herself," Amelia said sniffling.

"But it's the only way to save Cassie," Adam said still sitting next to Diana.

"What's going on?" Dawn questioned but Charles cut in.

"I see Adam you traded Diana in for Cassie and now you are willing to do it all over again. It doesn't work life that," he said getting closer to Adam and yelling in his face.

"Blackwell wants to make a deal for Cassie's life in trade for Diana joining him and the other children," I said quickly so I didn't get interrupted.

"I don't trust it," Ethan stated.

"I will do it," Diana stated. Finally speaking. She stood gracefully and looked at every one. "Cassie has done so much for me and she is my sister, I will join Blackwell in trade for Cassie's safety," she said.

"But Diana sweetie it could be dangerous, he is a bad man I don't want you to get hurt," He said softly reaching out to his daughter but Diana pulled away before he could touch her.

"Charles, Cassie is in here because of me, and you. I will save her no matter what it takes and this is a small price to pay for her life," she then turned to look at me and spoke very calmly. "Will you come with me to make sure it's not a trick?" she asked and I nodded.

Diana POV

After an hour I walked onto Cassie's room. There she is still lying there in the ben it hires all around and tubes in here mouth for eating and breathing. But her eyes closed gently, without the tubes and wires you would think she was only sleeping, if only that were true. Her blond hair sprawled out on her pillow she looks like an angle. I walk over and gently kiss her fore head.

"I love you Cassie, we are going to get you back," Diana whispered to her. I heard the door creak open. Looking over I noticed Adam stuck his head in.

"It's time to go," he said and I walked out ready to hand my soul over to the devil.

The plan we came up with is that Amelia and Adam (since nobody really trusts him right now) will both stay at the hospital with Cassie. Jake and Ethan will come with me to make sure all goes well and I don't get kidnaped. Charles and Dawn will wait at my old house for news (I refused to let Charles come with and Dawn insisted she stay with him).

I got into Jakes truck and we were off.

We parked by the forest which held the path to get to the abandon house. Adam had already called Blackwell letting him know we were on our way.

A little girl who looked about 13 meets us and the end of the path.

"Hello I'm Lilly your sister," she said looking at me. She was quite pale and had Black hair, a small petit figure, but her eyes scared me the most they were black all the way through. I could feel for as young as this girl looked she was powerful and has probably trained for this her whole life. I waved to the girl and she grabbed hold of my hand leading me to the house. The others followed behind.

"Welcome, welcome," john said as we entered.

I looked around everything in the house was different it looked 20 years younger. Although so did Blackwell. As I looked around I noticed one other person in the room. Excluding me, Jake, Ethan, John, and Lilly.

"In the far corner sat a boy right around 17. He had dark brown hair that hung slightly longer, his frame was thin but tall and his eyes shined like starts. I was amazed he didn't look as though he was taken over by the darkness. John noticing what I was looking at spoke up.

"Oh don't worry about him he is always quite brooding, that is Christopher, any ways let's get down to business. You Diana, are agreeing to join me and your siblings if I in return heal Cassie, Correct?" he asked I looked into his eyes; he was so far gone I wanted to spit in his face. Or better yet rip it off. Instead I settled for nodding my head in agreement. He smiled wickedly and then said. "Well what are we waiting for lets go," he said and they all left to go back to the hospital.

In Cassie's room now john Blackwell stood hunched over Cassie. His fingers on her temple he was repeating something in some strange language. After 30 minutes of this or so a bright red fog blew through the room it made us cough. When it cleared we all looked over and saw Cassie's eyes were fluttering open. Blackwell turned and looked at me.

"You have twenty four hours, then I will be back to collect you," he said and stalked out of the room. Tears of joy ran down my face and Jake ran to push the nurse button hoping to get the tube out of her throat.

Authors Note: A special thanks to my few readers I am so glad you are still interested. This chapter was mostly full of Diana and Jake but in all truth they are the only two who are going to be that close to the situation. I have somewhat of an outline planed but I figured I would see what your thoughts were on it. At this point Cassie will have side effects of Blackwell saving her life what those are we don't know. But are there other characters you guys would like to hear more about? Any romantic relationships you want to see? And the most important question of the post is this, Should Diana give in to the dark magic or stay a goody goody. Let me know in the review. Over and out!
