Meiwa Says: To be honest I haven't really updated in a year mainly because I didn't see how time flew by so fast! I was going through a really bad dry spell in terms of writing and I had zero inspiration when it came to Fire Emblem: Awakening. Though reading your comments and seeing that people still read this really encouraged me to write more, so here it is! Morgan's chapter.
Warning: Character death and angst.
Disclaimer: This fanfic is written solely for the purpose of amusement. I don't own anything related to the Fire Emblem franchise.
A Son's Regret

After Robin's return
Robin remembered holding Morgan in her arms for the very first time.
It had been a cruel rainy night on the first week of May when she went into labor. That day earlier she had been preparing the nursery alongside Chrom and Lucina. Both of them - if possible - were even more excited that the newest addition to the family would be coming so soon. The day had been hectic and there were so many things to be done, one of which was the celebration for Children's Day on May fifth. Despite being heavily pregnant, Robin was settling all things needed for the festival which was to happen the day after.
So it was a surprise when during one of her walks in the gardens, she had keeled over and screamed in pain. Lissa attributed Morgan's early delivery due to the stress she was facing. Everyone kept insisting that she take it easy and rest in bed the whole day but Robin knew better than that, knowing she would probably force herself to do something. She was, after all, a nomadic person, and could never stay in one place for too long.
The night had been long, loud and painful for her, and Chrom had waited until after midnight, worry etched on his face. The last time Robin had delivered a baby, he had almost lost the two most important people in his life and at that time he was nearly close to breaking down. This time would be no different - the possibilities of having complications were still high.
When Morgan was finally brought into the world, he was crying quietly, much different from when Lucina was born. Robin reached out her arms, sweaty and exhausted, brushing Morgan's tiny hairs out of his forehead and giving him a shaky kiss.
"Come, meet your son," she whispered to Chrom, who was busy looking at the scene with tears in his eyes. He gave her a smile that spoke levels and took Morgan into his own arms.
At that moment, everything felt perfect.
Robin remembered holding Morgan in her arms for the very last time.
It had been during a trip to the Outrealm right after the war.
There had been many complications with the march, especially since none of them expected to see more of the future children. However they were of the darker future, the future Lucina was not able to save. Still, she and Chrom decided to aid them in their battle. Emotions ran high as the children met their parents who were still alive - it was hard to watch the scene without feeling despair for them.
With Robin's well-calculated battle plan and strategy to pair up the parents to their children, breezing through the Risen was a walk in the park. There were no casualties from both sides and everything seemed to be going extremely well.
Up until Robin had to face her own son.
The Morgan in that realm was different from both Morgans she had known - one back at the palace with his wet-nurse, the other missing-in-action since the war, travelling with his beloved wife to see the peaceful world. This Morgan, however, had a clear Mark of Grima on his neck, one that glowed brightly not unlike how hers had before. His eyes were darker, not anymore the timid brown color she had passed onto him, but they were a maroon color, indicating that this was not the son she had known.
He was the Morgan of a future that no longer existed - the Morgan of the Robin she had murdered with her own hands. He existed in Lucina's timeline, the one who had travelled many years back in the past to save the future. Lucina had never mentioned that Morgan turned to the side of the Grimleal.
Tensions ran high as both siblings caught sight of each other. Morgan was the first to break the silence, letting out a cruel laugh. "Well, well, if it isn't sister dear. How fare you?"
"Morgan..." Lucina whispered in disbelief. "How did you...When did you...?"
The Grandmaster bedecked in red Grimleal robes chuckled again, letting his fingers trail against the cover of the tome in his hands. Everyone tensed, preparing to react if he so much as moved.
"Did you seriously think that I was that naive little fool that came back here claiming he was your brother? Oh, dear sweet Lucina, you should know me better than that. It was you and I who grew up together, after all."
Chrom glared. "You are not my son. You are not the Morgan we know."
"I remember you, father, unlike the other Morgan in this world," Morgan replied coldly." You were always so kind...so thoughtful. It disgusted me. You never did pay me any attention growing up. It was always - Lucina this, Lucina that - just because she had the Mark of Naga and I had the Mark of Grima."
Robin's suspicions were correct. This Morgan was the Morgan from the terrible future, which meant that the other Morgan who fought alongside them belonged to another future. It must have been Chrom's negligence over him that led Morgan to take the side of Grima, and Robin knew that she was of great influence to his decisions as well. Perhaps as the other her and Lucina travelled back in time, he had taken over the future kingdom. That world must have existed until she made the decision to destroy Grima at her own accord, but that led them to the question of how he had managed to leap through worlds and land in this one.
"Morgan...please, you know better than to join Grima. Whether or not you bear Grima or Naga's marks will not change the fact that you are my son."
Morgan growled, clenching his fists. The Risen around him held their spears up. "Quiet! I will hear no more of your jabbering, father. I had always despised being second best. Even when the world was ending, you chose to advise Lucina to jump back in time. You didn't even bother telling me! Your son! Did you know how lonely it was for me? And when the world crumbled around me, who was there to protect me? You?! Ha! It was Grima, father, Grima. All along it had been him."
"Whatever I must have done to you in the future, I ask for forgiveness. But please...this isn't how you want us to be reunited. This may not be the world you originally live in, but it is a world where your whole family exists. We can give you the love our other selves couldn't in the future."
The younger boy scoffed, flicking his cape behind him to reveal the Nosferatu tome in his hands. "Too late, father. This...This is my final hand!"
He swirled, activating a skill that was passed down from his mother. "Ignis!"
Upon noticing the activation of the deadly skill, Robin immediately threw herself in front of her husband, blocking the blow with her Silver Sword. Her teeth gritted as she held the Nosferatu attack back, feeling more at ease as she felt Chrom stand next to her, giving her strength.
"Morgan, please!" She called out amidst the crackling thunder. "This...This isn't what you want, it isn't what your mother wants!"
He shook his head. "You aren't my mother, you never will be! You're just a coward running away from who you really are - Grima!"
"I will never choose to side with Grima, never. I swear on every ounce of my blood on my body that I will never, ever give into the fell dragon like your Robin did."
When the husband and wife finally regained their footing, they saw the resolve in his eyes falter. Morgan looked at them longingly, as though memories of his childhood played through his mind. His fingers twitched and the grip on his tome loosened, but the moment was gone as soon as it came. The fire in his eyes - so reminiscent of Chrom - came back in full blaze. Morgan swung his coat away from his body and chanted his spell again.
"I will not be fooled, not by idiotic ideals and empty promises!"
Robin knew, deep in her heart, that her son was stubborn and would fight to his last breath. It didn't matter whether or not he belonged to their timeline - she still knew him best.
With a heavy heart and a calculative mind, she turned to look at her husband who displayed the same sense of grief. They both knew what they had to do yet they were both burdened by their decision. As Morgan fired another spell at Chrom, he swiftly dodged it. The young king lifted his sword to counterattack, then Robin took the opening to fire a Thoron spell.
No one stood a chance against their combined attacks, not even Morgan who had sworn on his life to avenge his mother. Her eyes shut tightly as he groaned in pain, dropping to his knees as blood poured out of him. Morgan's mouth opened, but no word was uttered as his body gave out.
Robin could no longer restrain herself, catching him in her arms and sobbing out apologies. His eyes, so similar to hers, stared back at her with the fire burned out. Her robe was stained in blood - his blood - and the others cried with her, but she could no longer hear anything but the sound of her own heart breaking.
Meiwa Says: All right that may be kind of confusing but the two italicized lines mean two different Morgans. Honestly I didn't really want to get into this time travelling thing but it's a huge part of Morgan's character. The ending is so rushed and I know I blabbered on in the beginning but I do hope this is all right, especially since it's been a year since I updated. I wrote this one in snippets so there are a bunch of inconsistencies especially with the grammar. I'm so sorry if this is so substandard but I do promise to bring more to the table. I really worried a lot about the angst in this chapter.
Mr. Martin: I'm so glad you thought so because I was really worried about that. This is another family chapter only it deals with angst. Hope you like it!
A Shadow's Lament: Haha I noticed that I'm not alone in the constant need for family fluff! Your kind words really helped me write through this terrible writer's block (worst one I've had yet). Thank you so much for your constant support!

Kurosu: Thank you so much for both your reviews! I'm glad you liked those ideas.
Ruu: I do think that that pairing would have cute supports! I can totally imagine Sumia making flower crowns for poor Lon'qu and him secretly enjoying it. Thank you kindly and here's to another Happy New Year!
LegendarypkmnNyunyu: Thank you! I hope this was to your liking. I'll try to update more frequently once my writer's block gets cured.

I hope I can ask for a favor: if anyone has any suggestions for future chapters (centering around Robin of course with a dash of Chrobin on the side), please send me a message and I'll try to respond as soon as possible! This way I'll actually have prompts to write about.
I hope you all had a wonderful 2014! Here's to another great year!
