Secret
Alan and Merlin sneaked down to the dungeons where the dragon was, it had become easier since Arthur, Gwen and Morgana had found out about their magic but it was still hard.
"Ah the young warlocks have you come to release me as you promised?" The way he said they knew it wasn't really a question.
"Do we have to?" Alan pouted.
The Great Dragon laughed, "You promised and it would not do to make me angry. Now use your sword."
Alan sighed, "Just promise us you won't attack Camelot."
"I promise nothing but you have already promised to release me."
Alan looked at Merlin who just shrugged (helpful) and Alan swung the swords so it hit the chains and the great dragon escaped with an almighty roar. Both boys sneaked back out and parted to go back to their own chambers for a good night's sleep little did they know it was going to be cut short, by a very angry and resentful dragon.
Alan was aware of someone shaking him, "Come on Alan don't to this to me! Don't leave me!"
He knew it was Merlin's voice but he didn't know what he was on about and then he realised, 4 days ago they had released the great dragon three days ago he had attacked. Slowly Alan opened his eyes and was met with the fearful face of his brother, "I'm not being funny but if you think you can get rid of me that easily you've got another thing coming!"
Merlin smiled and the two brothers hugged each other just Arthur came over to speak to them a servant rushed in, "Sire the king requests your presence in the great hall."
Arthur nodded and started to walk out then turned around and called to the brothers, "You coming?"
Merlin and Alan stood up and followed Arthur to the great hall.
When they got there Uther was already talking to Gaius, "There must be some way to rid ourselves of this aberration. Gaius?"
Gaius sighed, "We need a Dragonlord, Sire."
"You know very well that's not an option." Uther snapped.
"Sire, what if... there was indeed one last Dragonlord left?"
"That's not possible."
"But if there was?"
"What are you saying?"
"It may be just rumour..." Gaius trailed off.
"Go on." Uther prompted him.
"I'm not exactly sure, but I think his name is Balinor."
"Balinor?" Uther whispered, his voice filled with regret, but everyone ignored him.
"Where does he live?" Arthur asked
"He was last seen in Cenred's kingdom but that was many years ago." Gaius replied
"If this man still exists, then it is our duty to find him. " Arthur declared.
"Our treaty with Cenred no longer holds. We are at war. If they discovered you beyond our border, they would kill you." Uther argued.
"I will go alone." Alan and Merlin rolled their eyes and raised their eyebrows at that comment.
"No."
Arthur ignored Uther, "That way I will not be detected."
"No, Arthur. It is too dangerous."
"More dangerous than staying here? I'll not stand by and watch my men die when I have the chance to save them. "
"I have given you my orders."
"Do not make this a test of wills, Father."
"I'm not talking to you as a father; I'm talking to you as a king!" Uther snapped.
"I will ride immediately." Arthur replied and Alan, Merlin and Morgana smirked.
Uther ignored him, "My concern is for you."
"Mine is for Camelot. I'll send word when I've found him." Arthur replied he turned to Merlin and Alan and knew by the looks on their faces they were both coming with him, "Prepare the horses."
When Arthur walked into the courtyard he wasn't really surprised to see Alan on a horse as well but he pretended to be mad, "And just what do you think you're doing?"
"I'm coming with you." Alan replied.
"Oh yeah?" Arthur replied trying and failing miserably to hide his grin.
Alan nodded, "Yeah thought I'd save you from having to endure this idiot and his rambling." And he indicated to his brother. "But if you'd rather be with him on your own…"
"Oh god no! If I was alone with Merlin I think I'd go insane!" Arthur & Alan laughed until they heard an annoyed voice drifted to them from the steps behind them.
"I really hope you two aren't talking about my boyfriend as that would make me really mad!"
"Oh god Merlin I knew you were weak but do you really need a girl to fight your battles," Arthur said as he turned to the speaker, lady Morgana. Morgana opened her mouth to retort but unfortunately for Morgana (or fortunately for Arthur and Alan) Uther arrived and the small party of three had to leave.
It was later (much later (he is a prat after all)) Arthur realised that Alan and Merlin weren't themselves.
"Okay what is wrong with you two?"
"It's nothing!" Alan replied and Merlin nodded.
"Come on you can tell me!"
"It's nothing!" Merlin replied but Arthur wouldn't give up so it went on for minutes him asking what was wrong them saying, 'nothing' until they finally snapped, "Balinor is our father okay!?"
"What?" Arthur asked.
"Gaius told us he helped Balinor escape to our mum and they fell in love but he had to leave before we were born."
"What did you say?" a new voice asked.
