Chapter 9: There are many worlds but one sky

A/N: Hello everyone! I'm back after a few hectic weeks at work! I was smart enough to write this chapter down while I was on break, so now I'll be doing that so I can make more chapters faster.

And who's excited about Desolation of Smaug coming out next week? I know I am because that'll give me the chance to watch the movie and figure out how I will incorporate Hikari and the others into it.

Now we get to one of the fun parts where the company learns about the different worlds that are out there. Some of them will really enjoy them I think.

Disclaimer: I don't own Kingdom Hearts or the Hobbit, I just own my awesome OC's.

Enjoy!

When noon came around Thorin decided that it was a good time to take a break. Everyone quickly got off their horses, feeling stiff from sitting for so long.

Sora groaned as he stretched his back.

"I'm starting to see why we always used the Gummi ship whenever we traveled" he groaned.

"I dunno if traveling by Gummi ship was better or not. You and Donald tended to be rather scary drivers" Hikari teased.

Bilbo looked curious.

"What is a Gummi ship? Is it some kind of boat?"

The keyblade wielders looked at each other trying to figure out how they should explain the Gummi ship to Bilbo.

"Sort of" Sora said.

"But instead of traveling on water, it flies and helps us get to one world to the next really fast"

"What do you mean 'one world to the next'? Gloin asked.

"That's preposterous. The only world that exists is this one"

"That is where you are wrong, Master Gloin" Gandalf said.

"Believe it or not there are many other worlds out there besides Middle-Earth. Our guests are fine examples of that"

The dwarves looked at the wizard curiously.

"How is that even possible?" Dori asked.

Hikari rubbed her neck knowing the dark history of that.

"It's kind of a long story" she said.

She could remember her mother's story that she would always tell her about the worlds and how the darkness separated them. It reminded her how darkness lurked at every corner and could just destroy anything it touched

"So are these worlds similar to ours or are they different?" Ori asked curiously.

"Oh, they're completely different!" Sora smiled.

"Some of them you wouldn't believe that they were real. There's this one world called Atlantica where it's all completely underwater including the people"

"How do they even breath?" Kili asked.

"They're part human and part fish They have the upper body of a human and the lower part of a fish" Hikari explained.

"And then there's this one world called Agrabah and they have this one place called the Cave of Wonders where it's filled with nothing but treasure"

That caught all of the dwarves attention and found themselves huddles around the teenagers.

"How much treasure does it actually hold?" Bofur asked.

"Does it carry gold, gems or precious metals?"

"Oh yeah, it has tones of it Last I remember there were mountains of it" Sora said.

They could have sworn that they saw some of the dwarves drooling but it was probably their imagination.

"And the Cave is very magical where if you enter the cave you can only grab the item that you came for and nothing else, otherwise you'll be trapped within the cave and will be never seen again.

"So you're saying if I went into the cave, wanting a really nice looking crown but I see this fancy looking Ruby and want that instead, I'll be stuck in a cave filled with riches beyond my wildest dreams?" Fili said.

"That doesn't sound bad to me"

"Yeah, but the cave is in a desert under a huge mound of sand, so if you were trapped in there, you could be stuck under the sand, never having the chance to enjoy your treasure" Hikari pointed out.

Fili pouted a little, having his dream of being in a cave full of treasure ruined.

"Do other worlds carry a lot of treasure?" Nori asked.

"Well there is this one world called Port Royal which is filled with pirates and they had this chest of gold that was cursed" Sora said.

"Whoever took a piece of the treasure would become undead and when the full moon was out they would become walking skeletons"

The dwarves murmured at the idea of cursed treasure.

"That would be useful against thieves in Erebor" Dwalin said.

"And those good for nothing Elves"

The dwarves cheered at the idea while Gandalf frowned at it. He understood their grudge against the Elves but they didn't need to take it that far.

"So what else is out there?" Kili asked. He was really enjoying hearing about these worlds and wanted to learn more about them. It was like he wanted to visit them.

"Well there's my world which is called Radiant Garden" Hikari said.

"But I thought you said you were from the Islands?" Bilbo questioned.

Hikari shook her head.

"I came to the Islands when I was 4. I was originally from a world called Radiant Garden. Its a very beautiful place. Everything it so bright and pure, the water always sparkles in the light, flowers would always bloom to their fullest. It's a very lovely place, but not as lovely as the islands"

"So what is your world like then?" Bilbo asked.

"We live on a world that is called Destiny Islands" Sora said.

He grabbed a stick and started drawing it out in the dirt.

"There's a bunch of islands that are surrounded by the ocean. The biggest one is where everyone lives while the smaller ones are uninhabited. There's this small island that is closer to the big one where all the kids go to hang out. It's really nice and peaceful while at the same time fun and adventurous"

"And we have this local fruit called a Paopu fruit that is popular with the younger people" Hikari added.

"It's a nice place to relax. You don't have to worry about everyday problems and just enjoy your day" Riku finished.

"Sounds like a permanent Holiday" Bilbo said.

"It is, but it's not as impressive as Twilight Town" Ankoku said.

"They have lots of buildings and a clock tower that is so high you could see the whole town from up there and they carry this frozen treat called Sea-Salt ice cream. You can always go up to the clock tower and enjoy your frozen treat while watching the sunset"

She smiled bitterly thinking of the times she would always have ice cream with Axel and Roxas. It was their getaway place from the Organization where they could just be themselves and not worry about Saix or Xemnas.

"They always had pretty sunsets there" she said.

"The sky would glow with such warm colors of oranges and reds. It almost made the sky look like it was on fire it was that dazzling"

At the mention of fire, Thorin tensed and stood up.

"We've rested long enough. Let's move out" he ordered.

"But uncle" Fili said.

"No buts, we need to move on if we want to reach the mountain"

The dwarves grumbled and got back on their horses.

"And just when it was getting good too" Kili pouted.

"We can still talk about the worlds while we're traveling" Hikari said.

"We haven't even told you about the people that we met"

They started talking about the friends they made from their travels. From Ariel to Peter Pan they shared some of the fond memories of the friends that helped them save the worlds from darkness. Bilbo almost fainted when they talked about Jack from Halloween Town, finding the concept of a talking skeleton to be rather morbid.

Nori laughed when Hikari told them about how Pete and the Peddler from Agrabah were fighting over Jafar's genie lamp in the streets.

"How did he manage to get that lamp from the peddler?"

Hikari shrugged.

"I really don't know, sometimes I wonder how he managed to get by on those different worlds. I'm sure if he wasn't working for Maleficent, he would be done for"

"Who's Maleficent?" Bofur asked.

Riku had a grim look on his face at the mention of her.

"She's an evil sorceress who tried to take over the worlds" he said.

"She wanted to plunge them into darkness so that she would have control over them. She's someone who you don't want to mess with"

"I bet our Wizard friend even wouldn't be a match for her" Ankoku snorted.

Gandalf glared at her and was tempted to hit her with his staff.

"She could harness all kinds of dark magic and bend things to her will" Hikari said.

"She could even turn into a dragon"

Thorin suddenly stopped his horse and whipped his head towards them.

"What did you say about a dragon?" he said.

"I meant she had the ability to turn herself into a fire breathing dragon" Hikari said.

"We had to fight her once when she was in that form and it was no walk in the park"

"Yeah, she had teeth like razors that could chop you in half, claws that could tear the flesh of your bones and breathed fire so hot not even your ashes would survive" Sora said.

Bilbo whimpered and gripped the reins of his horse to the point his hands when white.

"And you thought my description of Smaug was bad" Bofur said.

Everyone laughed a little, but Thorin clearly wasn't amused. He never realized that these children faced off against a dragon, despite it being a shape shifting witch. This could be useful to him.

"How did you defeat her then?" he questioned.

Hikari and Sora looked at each other, knowing it had been a long time since they had that battle.

"I can't really say for sure. But I know we used a lot of magical spells" Hikari said.

"It doesn't matter how tough of an amour you had, but it is always defenseless against magic"

Thorin let that sink in before he turned around and pushed his horse forward.

"I think I found a use for these children after all" he said quietly to Gandalf.

The wizard frowned, not liking what Thoirn was thinking. Surely he wasn't thinking of having them face Smaug. He shook his head, knowing he would have to talk to the dwarf about this.

"That's pretty cool that you guys went up against a dragon" Kili said.

"Now we won't have any problems if we face Smaug"

Hikari laughed nervously.

"I don't know about that. Like we said, it wasn't a actual dragon, just a witch who could turn into one. There's a big difference"

"It doesn't matter, it just shows how helpful you'll be with this journey" Balin said.

"No one has ever faced Smaug and lived to tell the tale, maybe now we'll have a chance"

Hikari looked at her friends with worry. Did they honestly think that they could face off against a real dragon on their own?

Ankoku shrugged, not worried about the situation. If she didn't get a vision of it, then there was no reason to freak out over it.

"Well, at least it won't be a giant heartless" she said.

"Heartless?" Bilbo repeated.

"They're these creatures created by the darkness in people's hearts" Sora said.

"Sometimes when a person has a really strong heart or its filled with so much negative energy a heartless appears, they live off on other people's hearts and if they devours someones heart, that person becomes a heartless as well"

Bilbo went as white as a sheet at the analogy. He thought it was bad that Orcs and goblins existed but Sora just made it worse.

Riku smacked Sora on the back of the head for saying too much. It was one thing to talk about different worlds, but the heartless were a different matter.

"Don't worry Bilbo" Hikari said.

"One of the perks of having a keyblade is that they're used to destroy heartless. If any show up, which I highly doubt will happen, then we'll take care of them"

Bilbo looked a little relieved but he was still pale. Ankoku smirked evilly knowing she had to mess with him now.

"Hey Bilbo, you want to hear the time that I had to go up against this heartless called a Behemoth?"

The poor Hobbit nearly fainted as she went into great detail about the event while Ankoku laughed at his demise.

Meanwhile up at the front of the group, Gandalf had a grim look upon his face. He had heart everything Sora said about the heartless and it left a chill up his spine. Not because the description scared him, but mainly because he knew he left out one very important detail as to why he was persistent that they keyblade wielders came to Middle-Earth.

A/N: Uh oh, it looks like Gandalf is hiding things from our heroes, and its about to blow up in their faces. And it looks like Thorin is making big plans for them as well. And don't worry, I'm not going to have him as a bad guy where he's going to use them. He's just reacting to the fact that Hikari and the others have actually went up against a dragon, so in his mind he's thinking 'they've defeated a dragon, that must mean they'll be able to get rid of Samug'. But he'll learn there's more to them than that. Just like with Bilbo, they'll have to earn his respect in order for him to open up to them.
