Chapter 9.
He wanted to give her the greatest gift of all...
Krillin suddenly halted his thoughts as he mentally counted the days in his head.
"Yesterday was Sunday so today...it's the eve before Valentine's day!"
Today he would discover just what the gift was he had purchased and if it was worthy enough to give to the woman he loved. He was thrilled yet worried, what if Eighteen didn't like the gift? He wasn't sure how she would react or if the gift really was that special as the old lady had claimed it to be. What if she had framed him? He would not have enough time to buy a new gift.
And lastly, were they really together, dating? Did Eighteen think so too?
'I just don't...' Krillin thought to himself as he stepped out of the shower.
Master Roshi suddenly entered the bathroom without knocking, Krillin's immediate instinct was to cover himself up with a towel before grumbling at the old man who quickly apologized and left.
Once dressed, he went out into the hallway where he came face to face with Eighteen She just passed him by without looking but she did say hi before walking into the kitchen.
The black haired man followed her, both were silent during the rest of the morning. This had been going on for almost two weeks now and Eighteen really wondered what was going on.
Although she may appear cold or disinterested in anything, she wasn't. Far from it. She began to wonder if Krillin still wanted her to stay at Kame house before quickly dismissing that thought. Krillin wouldn't just kick her out for no apparent reason.
"Eighteen?" Krillin asked.
She turned to face him, he was in front of her with his hands behind his back but not looking at her, instead he was looking down on the ground.
"I'm going to Capsule Corps to visit Bulma, did you want to come?"
"Not today."
Krillin nodded at that before returning to his room. She did not want to go, was this a sign? No! He would not let himself down like that. She probably just didn't feel like visiting. He hurriedly made his way into his room towards the drawer. He would check the gift out now. He was curious as he grabbed the small bag. His heart beat with anticipation as he reached into the bag, this was the moment of truth.
"Let's do this!"
He gently pulled the object from the bag, eyes widening as he observed it in his hand.
"Wh..whoa!"
A little while later, Krillin had arrived at Capsule Corps and rang the doorbell. Bulma answered the door.
"Hi Krillin! How have you been?"
"Fine and you?"
"Good, thank you." She replied with a smile before gesturing him in. She guided him to the living room where Trunks was playing in the floor with his grandfather who made silly faces which made the small boy laugh out loud in delight.
"Oh, hello there Krillin!" Dr Briefs said.
"Hello, Dr Briefs."
Bulma gently pushed him onto the terrace where they made themselves comfortable and talked about everything and nothing.
"In fact, I wonder where Tien is? Do you know what happened to him? I'd like to visit him someday."
"Hn, the last time we saw him was at Goku's funeral. I think he went to be with Lunch and we probably won't see him again anytime soon. Also, Yamcha told me what happened. You know, about you and Eighteen and how he is very sorry about what he did."
"Yeah..I'm sorry too, for hitting him, but I was just so upset." Krillin said.
"Don't worry about him, he's a fool sometimes. But he's our fool and we love him the way he is even if he sometimes can be obnoxious and deserves a whack over the head."
Krillin laughed at that and Bulma joined in. Then Vegeta came onto the terrace, dressed in a blue shirt and black jeans. He stopped short a few meters before them.
"Bulma, I need a change in the training room."
His eyes then turned to Krillin and he lifted a brow.
"Is that a new cut?" Vegeta asked pointing at the small man's head.
Bulma sighed while Krillin nodded. Vegeta turned away from them.
"So I take it you don't fight anymore? You will get rusty and you weren't that great to begin with, in fact you were miserable."
He closed the door behind him leaving behind a surprised Bulma and Krillin who just shared a look. Then Krillin shrugged it off and stood up.
"Thanks for having me, it's about time I go back. See you next time."
With that he left, flying slowly back towards Kame island all the while mulling just one thing over in his head.
"Offer her the gift...don't offer her the gift?"
When he reached Kame House he had made his decision. He couldn't sleep when the time came, he was too excited yet nervous.
Tomorrow...tomorrow he would offer his gift to Eighteen and await her reaction, he only hoped it was a good one.
