TEAM POV
Within twenty minutes, Harry was being hauled into the SHIELD helicarrier. Under normal circumstances, he would have marveled at the scene around him. After all, it's not every day a civilian gets brought on board. However, there were more pressing matters at hand at the moment. As they neared the main room of the helicarrier, Nick Fury turned around and gaped at Harry for a second before snapping into his default mode of 'SHIELD director.'
"What in Earths name is Harry Osborn doing on my helicarrier?" He asked, leveling an even glare at the kid.
"He knows where Peter is sir!" Sam practically shouted out, unable to contain his excitement. Fury raised his eyebrows and looked expectantly at Harry.
"...Well?" He prompted, after a few minutes of silence.
"Oh, oh right. Sorry. Well, you see, my dad, who as it turns out is still a super villain-"
"Duh" interrupted Sam. Ava shot him a warning look as Harry continued quite nervously.
"Anyway, he brought me to OsCorp, which wasn't so unusual. But then he brought me down to the basement and Peter was there. I was really freaked out at first. I mean, whose dad keeps their son's best friend restrained in a basement? Fucking crazy, right? Only, my dad told me he was Spider-Man. And he kept saying things, trying to mess with our heads, turn us against one another." Harry had paused at this and averted his eyes from everyone in the room.
"And, I'm ashamed to say... It worked. I got angry, furious even. After all, I blamed Spiderman for everything wrong with my life. I hated that he never told me. Pete tried to tell me he was sorry, and he really was, I could tell. But I didn't care, I was too angry. I was out of my mind with betrayal. So…I said I was done, with the both of them, and I left. But soon after I did, I felt so guilty. I had thought about it more and understood Peter's reasoning. He didn't want anyone to get caught in the cross fire. Peter is my best friend, sir. And I'll do anything I can to help get him back and make it up to him." Harry finished.
Nick looked at him for a moment, as if trying to detect any lies. All he saw on Harry's face was genuine worry, regret and determination. With that he nodded and turned back to the team.
"Get Coulson, bring him in here. We need to make a plan."
"What? You can't be serious!" shouted Luke. "We know where he is, and he's already been down there for nearly two days! We can't keep making excuses to his Aunt. There's no reason we can't break down the door right now and get him! He's been with those two long enough."
"Yeah! I'm with him on this one." said Sam.
"Friends, perhaps we should make a plan. We have Harry on our side. With that we have quite the advantage. There is less of a chance of failure if we proceed with caution and extra insight. After all, OsCorp contains many innocent people, and our enemies aren't ones who care about the casualties." said Danny calmly, as ever.
"He's got a point." said Ava almost hesitantly. It went against all her instincts, but she didn't want to lose any chance of recusing their leader. After a few minutes hesitation, they all looked at each other in silent agreement and headed off to find Coulson, with Harry in tow.
Peter POV
Even after another hour of being restrained to that table, Peter still couldn't help thinking of Harry abandoning him without a second thought. He knew Harry was angry with him. But to leave him there, bruised and bloody? With two infamous villains? That was a bit extreme. Where was Harry now? Was he having any regrets? Did he care at all?
Yes, Peter told himself. Harry had to care. They were best friends. Always had been, since that day the Osborns gave him a ride home. And they always would be friends. He even recalled his Aunt May once saying that he and Harry were practically strapped together at the appendix. He would come back for him. He just knew it.
And if he didn't? Saving Peter would mean going against his father. Harry never wanted to do that. Peter didn't know what Harry would do. But what he did know was that if Harry didn't come for him, his team would. However, before Peter could have even the slightest bit of time to bask in his new found hope, his thoughts were interrupted by a sharp pain going through his body.
Everything ached and he wasn't sure how much more of this his body could take. Hell, he wasn't sure how much more his mind could take either. The torture Doc was putting him through was terrible, but after fighting so many villains, Peter was used to pain. To be honest, Norman worried him more. His weapon wasn't physical pain, but emotional. Norman wanted to break him on the inside. The experience with Harry was bad enough, but Norman's train of thought made Peter uneasy. Ock had told him that they wanted him to suffer before they killed him and took his DNA. The goal was to make him as miserable as possible.
Peter still wasn't sure what to think about Normans last words to him before he left the room. It scared him to think of what Norman had planned. Peter could only think of a handful of things that would be worse than his best friend turning on him in his time of need. He didn't think he could bare it if any of his suspicions were right.
Right now Peter was alone. Ock had left to "get some equipment" and Norman…well, Norman he wasn't sure. Maybe he actually went to run his damn business, Peter thought bitterly. His stomach clenched with fear and worry every time he started to think about what else he could be doing. Did he go after Harry for leaving? Did he go for MJ next? Aunt May? The team?
God, Peter felt like he was going to throw up just thinking about it. Not that he could at the moment, not having eaten since his arrival.
"I can't even stand the thought…" Peter said to himself.
"Well then! Let's see how well you handle the reality!" Norman shouts happily while waltzing down the stairs dragging something behind him. Whatever it was, it wasn't visible at the moment.
"I wasn't aware you were a mind reader Osborn." Peter spit out bitterly. Norman glared before donning a grin the Cheshire Cat would be proud of.
"Don't test me right now Peter. Especially considering what I brought with me. I'd think twice of another sarcastic remark if I were you."
The thing Norman had been dragging behind him finally came into the light and Peter got a good look at it.
"NO!"
