Chapter 9 – The Battle at Hogwarts
A/N: This is the first chapter that I am writing. The other chapters were done by this story's original author Crookykanks. I hope I live to everyone's standards of how they want this story to go. If you have any suggestions, anything, I'll be happy to read about it. Can't promise to take each and every one of them, but I do promise to read them. If you know any glaring errors, i.e. Rufus somehow becomes Fudge or something like that, let be know so I can correct the error.
I apologize for the time between the updates – real life and its responsibilities got in the way. I'm determined to finished this story.
I would like to thank everyone who has reviewed this story so far.
So without further adieu, here's the next installment.
It was late at night again at the castle and once again Minerva was at St. Mungo's and Rufus Scrimgeour decided to pay a visit to Hogwarts. He tried to maneuver into her office with no avail and became angry when he couldn't figure out how to get into Minerva's own personal living space.
As Rufus was coming back toward the infirmary where he knew someone would be there, Camilla Wellington was patiently waiting for another detention to begin with Poppy, when Rufus came along
"Young lady," Camilla turned around startled and wand drawn, "What are you doing? Don't you know who I am?" Rufus said agitated.
"Uh, should I?" realizing that she should but didn't have a clue to who he was but refused to draw her wand down.
"I am the Minister of Magic Rufus Scrimegeour!"
Camilla wasn't sure about this character and refused to believe him. "How would I know that it was really you," hoping that someone, anyone would come out and tell her who this character was.
"You should know who I am, but how can I prove it to you?" Rufus wondered, knowing full well that this child should know who he was.
Meanwhile Poppy had her all the commotion outside the ward and wondered what in the world was going on.
"Ms. Wellington, I presume, why in the world is all this racket being made? You should understand that peace and quiet needs to be maintained here," Poppy said not realizing that Rufus was there.
"Sorry, I just don't know who this gentleman is."
When Poppy turned around she was shocked to see that Camilla had her wand drawn to none other than the Minister of Magic himself.
"Ms. Wellington, you should know who this gentleman is."
Sheepishly, "I take it that he is the Minister of Magic."
"Yes, he is, Poppy said and Camilla dropped her wand.
Camilla left and walked into the infirmary assuming Poppy would follow her
Suddenly Camilla heard a scream. Realizing it was Poppy , Camilla quickly turned around wand ready for action, but…Rufus has his wand to the throat of Poppy ready to dispense of her if he doesn't get the answers he wants soon!
"Where in the world is Minerva, Madame?" sounding threatening. "If I don't get a correct answer soon, there will no longer be a mediwitch at Hogwarts!"
Both student and staff looked at each other. Camilla couldn't believe what was going on but felt she had to tell the truth.
Shakily, Camilla began the tale, "Sir calm down. I will tell you what's going on."
"Ms. Wellington, there's no need," Poppy tried to calmly tell her but Camilla knew better.
"I will only tell you what's happening if you give me a wizard's oath that you will not harm anyone in or currently employed by this school nor will you do anything stupid to persons like firing or trying to kill them, Camilla calmly asked the Minister.
Debating it for a few seconds, Rufus gave the wizard oath that he would not hurt or harm anyone who was a student or staff member at the school.
Camilla hoped it was enough to protect McGonagall and who ever she would see at St. Mungo's, which she had a suspicion was Professor Snape.
"She's at St. Mungo's visiting a long time friend," and with that Rufus was on his way to St. Mungo's.
Within in moments of Rufus' disappearance; Camilla ran to the open arms of Poppy. "I'm sorry Madame Pompfrey," she cried.
"It's okay young lady, you did the right thing. Now we have to tell Minerva."
Within a moment Minerva returned after what she felt was a lousy visit. Minerva remembered to bring a chess set but Severus became frustrated. Minerva could sense something was reeling in his head but he couldn't figure out what it was and frustrations got the better of him. It took her thirty minutes to calm him down before she could leave him. "Maybe that was too big of a step," she thought as she walked through the entrance of Hogwarts.
The infirmary was just down the hall from the main entrance and both Poppy and Camilla rushed up to her.
"Headmistress, I'm so sorry I tattled but I had to; I had to save Madame Pompfrey life," Camilla said holding onto Minerva for dear life.
"Poppy, what is she talking about?" Minerva asked, confused by the sudden outburst.
"Rufus came by."
"Why that son of a gun."
"Minerva, he threaten my life over knowing where you were at."
"Ms. Wellington told him where you could be found."
"Oh dear, you did the right thing," Minerva calmed Camilla down
"I gave him a wizard oath that he couldn't hurt or harm any student or employee from here. I tried my best to keep everyone safe."
"You did very well," Minerva said and then turned her attention to Poppy. "Give her a calming draught and keep her overnight. I'll have to figure out what to do about Rufus. He will not get away with that."
