Happy Birthday Mukuro!

Sirius Black

Tsuna was working on his paperwork in one of the ground floor rooms of Brocket Hall that had been converted into an office for him. They had just moved into the house the day before. When the lease holders of Brocket Hall, the Club Corporation of Asia, heard that the Vongola Decimo wanted to use the hall, they straight away offered him the use of the hall for as long as he needed it free of charge. Tsuna was surprised by the generosity and was going to politely decline their offer until he received a call from the CCA's President thanking him for taking such good care of his young cousin. It turns out that the CCA was one of the legal branches of the triad that Fon used to work with, the head of the triad also happened to be a second cousin a few times removed of I-pin. The man insisted that the Vongola consider it a good-will gift. Tsuna was left without a way to refuse without offending the man but insisted on paying the real estate agent's commission and the wages of the staff for his family's stay at the very least. He also resolved to take the money that would go into renting the manor and stash it away into an emergency fund for I-pin.

Harry was curled up with a book on the couch. Tsuna made a mental note to get the boy a tablet or e-reader so that Harry could buy and read more books easily. He did know that wizards and electronics usually did not mix but did not know if the wizards themselves would short-circuit electronics or if it was just high magic environments. He would be sure to ask Verde that but if the scientist said it was okay then Tsuna knew the perfect Christmas gift for Harry.

They had fallen into a routine the past few days. During the day Harry would be tutored in academic subjects and languages by either Gokudera or Reborn. In the afternoon the boy would go outside and explore the areas around the mansion (because Tsuna insisted on Harry getting some sunshine) under Reborn's hidden but watchful eyes since Harry could still be magically tracked and they did not want anyone grabbing the boy before the engineers could arrive and set up the magic cloaking device. The late afternoons and evening, Harry spent keeping Tsuna company in his office. The emerald-eyed child preferred to spend most of his free time with Tsuna. He even slept with Tsuna at night even though he had his own bedroom. Tsuna hoped his family would be tolerant when they arrived. Tsuna's bed at Brocket Hall could definitely not fit even a quarter of them.

Signing off on a damage report from Mukuro's last mission, the Vongola Sky stretched tiredly as he decided that he had done enough work for the day. He was finally caught up on his paperwork and even managed to get ahead in preparation for the children's arrival in about a week so he could spend some time with them. It was about time for dinner anyway. "Harry." Tsuna called out gently to the boy that was completely engrossed in his book. The six-year old's reading level was several years above his age and Tsuna had to wonder how someone as average as him had so many geniuses surrounding him.

Harry looked up from his book and blinked innocent green-eyes, "Yes, Tsuna-nii?"

"It's time for dinner."

"Oh." Harry responded slightly disappointed. He had gotten to a good part in The Black Cauldron, the second book in the fantasy series that Tsuna-nii bought him on their morning out.

"How about I read that to you tonight before you go to sleep? My sister likes it when I read to her at night even though I'm pretty sure she reads better than me."

"Read to me?"

"Yup. We'll treat it as a bedtime story." Tsuna explained. "But we need to go to dinner now."

Harry nodded and got up, grabbing Tsuna's hand that was extended in assistance. He kept a hold of the warm hand as they made their way to the dining room. They met Reborn at the door. The teenager was leaning against the wall there and a scrap of rough looking paper was in his hand. Seeing Tsuna he wordlessly handed the parchment over to the boss. Tsuna read the message on it and grinned. "So tomorrow morning, huh? I'll have Hayato reschedule my video conference for the afternoon then."

"I'm going with you." When he saw Tsuna glance apprehensively at Harry, Reborn told him, "Trust your right-hand to take care of things here. Even if they find him, Gokudera knows what they are capable of and how to stymie them."

Tsuna nodded and the three went to meet Gokudera for dinner in the dining room.

The next morning Tsuna informed Harry, that he and Reborn had some errands to run and that Gokudera would be in charge of his lessons that day. "I trust you won't give him any trouble and you've been around him long enough now to know not to mind if he yells at you, it's just how he expresses his concern."

Harry nodded quietly. It would be the first time in several days that Tsuna-nii would not be nearby if he needed him for anything. He did however remember what Reborn told him about Tsuna-nii. Tsuna-nii would never leave him with anyone that he did not trust absolutely and Tsuna-nii trusted Mr. Gokudera absolutely. Harry had seen throughout the week how the silver-haired man adored the smaller man and he knew Mr. Gokudera would not hurt him if only because it would disappoint Tsuna-nii.

Tsuna smiled at his Storm Guardian and the little boy before grabbing Reborn's arm allowing the man to Apparate them directly to the small pier where they were meeting their solicitor. He look a few seconds to orient himself and wonder at how wizards could stand to travel like that all the time even if it was convenient. Reborn waved the solicitor over to them and made the introductions. Both parties bowed courteously to each other before Higgins led them to a row boat tied to the pier. Tsuna looked at the boat dubiously as he mentally questioned its sea-worthiness. He did have his gloves though so he was pretty sure if the boat sank he could save all three of them.

Once all three were in the boat it started moving by itself towards a foreboding island with a large stone fortress that Tsuna could barely see the outline of through the thick fog. Once they reached the island two guards followed by two tall creatures that wore ripped black cloaks approached them. The creatures gave Tsuna an uneasy feeling and he could feel his intuition and flames flaring. It was a struggle for Tsuna to keep his flames from igniting and destroying the creatures. They looked and smelled of death and decay. As the two human guards moved forward, Tsuna noticed the two creatures held back. The creatures seemed to have been giving Tsuna and Reborn a wide berth. Curious.

"Wha' ya doin' 'ere?" One guard asked with a rude tone.

"We're here to visit a prisoner. I have clearance papers from Madam Bones, Head of the DMLE." Higgins responded as he handed the papers over to the guard.

The guard scanned the papers and handed them back slurring. "Seems in ord'r. Ya 'ave to 'and over yer wands."

Reborn and Higgins complied, but when the guard got to Tsuna, the boss told the man, "I do not have a wand."

"My client is not a wizard." Higgins tried to explain.

"Wha'sa muggle doin' 'ere?" The guard asked as he looked at the well-dressed young man with contempt.

Reborn bristled at the look the guard was giving his former-student and current boss. No one was allowed to look at Tsuna like that. He may treat the young Don roughly but Reborn never looked at Tsuna with anything short of pride and would not stand for anyone looking at Tsuna in such a demeaning manner. "Careful who you belittle." Reborn warned, his tone dark, cold, and full of malevolence.

The guard took a step back at the danger that permeated the air around the teenager. He recovered himself quickly though and sneered at Reborn saying, "Watch yer tone kid. Accidents can 'appen 'ere." He tried to motion the Dementors forward to scare the cheeky brat, but the creatures refused to obey. They lingered several yards back giving the visitors wary looks. The guards stared at the Dementors in shock. They then turned back to see the brat smirking at them and wisely chose to swallow their pride, "Right, you lot follow us. We be puttin' ya in a room ta wait fer Black."

Once the three were in the waiting room and the guards had left to retrieve Sirius Black, Tsuna turned to Reborn and asked, "What were those creatures and was it my imagination that they were afraid of us?"

Reborn surreptitiously cast a privacy charm using his back-up wand (Leon shape-sifted into a wand). "Those were Dementors, some of the darkest and foulest creatures in existence. They are vile creatures that feed off of happiness and leave depression and despair in those nearby. They can also eat souls by sucking it out of their victim's mouth, leaving them as a soulless husk. The wizards have terrible taste and call that ability, the Dementor's Kiss." Reborn explained grimly.

Tsuna looked horrified, "And the Wizarding government uses them? That's inhumane! Souls should be inviolable."

"Wizards often are, though most places consider those creatures abominations and have tried their hardest to eradicate them, not that it has helped much. Wizards have no idea how to kill them. Wizarding Britian is just more backwards and corrupt than the rest of the world in some matters so employ the creatures as prison guards rather than try to be rid of them. The prisoners become something like sacrifices to keep them from terrorizing the regular population."

"When you say wizards have no idea how to kill them..."

"Good, you picked up on that fast. Magic can't kill them but there is a spell that is based on will-power and spiritual power that can drive them away and in some cases hurt them."

"So our flames?"

"Are based on our resolve and are spiritual in nature. Our flames can burn anything we put our resolve into burning. Keep that in mind. You or your kitten may run into Dementors at some point. The ones we saw earlier are keeping their distance, however if they come in a large enough pack, they may decided that they can overwhelm you." Reborn warned. When Tsuna nodded he took the privacy charm down and they sat quietly waiting for Sirius Black.

In a high security cell of the infamous wizard prison, Azkaban, a large black dog slept in a shadowed corner. It's fur was matted with dirt and grime and some of it's bones showed through it's flesh giving evidence to its emaciated state. It quickly woke up as footsteps sounded down the hall approaching it's cell. The only presence that normally traversed the halls were the cloaked Dementors so the sound of human footsteps was decidedly out of place.

The dog scrambled to its feet and canine features shifted and blurred until where a dog once stood, sat a haggard looking man. The man could hear locks rattling before the door opened and two wands were pointing at him. Behind the two prison wardens that were pointing their wands at him floated two Dementors, their cowled hoods giving them a deathlike appearance. One of the two wand wielders grumbled, "Ya got visitors Black. Now don't be trying anything stupid and we'll take ya to 'em."

The other warden got up and clapped magic suppression manacles onto the prisoner's hands and led him from his cell, him and his partner bracketing the prisoner on either side as the Dementors floated behind them. They led him through the various hallways of the prison and then finally opened the door to a room with a table and a few chairs. Sitting in two of the chairs were two men, one wearing fine looking dress robes and the other wearing a muggle suit. Leaning against one wall of the room was a teenager also dressed in a suit. The prisoner, was careful to note that the Dementors seemed, if possible for the creatures, nervous around the two suit wearing people.

"Thank you for bringing him. You may leave now." The suit-clad man sitting at the table informed the guards in a voice that radiated authority.

"E's a dangerous one, guv'nor. Ya sure ya want ter be left alone with 'im?" One of the wardens asked though he seemed to keep glancing nervously at the teenager.

"We'll be fine. You and the Dementors may stand outside the cell if you wish." The teenager, whose face was shaded by his stylish hat, suggested in a tone that was more of a command.

The two wardens finally left the room to join the two Dementors that had refused to enter the room.

"Reborn would you assure our privacy please?" The man asked the teenager. A green wand dropped into the teenager's hand and a quick wave later the teenager nodded. The man that the prisoner was starting to suspect was a muggle (though how a muggle gained permission to visit an Azkaban prisoner was a mystery), motioned to a chair on the other side of the table. "Sirius Black, I presume. Please sit."

Sirius did as the man, that upon closer inspection looked to be barely out of school, bade. "Who are you and what do you want with me?" Sirius asked directly.

A small smile graced the young man's lips as he responded, "Ah...I should introduce myself and my associates. This gentleman here is Mr. Higgins, a senior partner from the Abernathy and Higgins Law Firm. Leaning against the wall there is my Chief Advisor and one of the heads of my security department, Reborn, and I am Tsunayoshi Sawada-Vongola, also known as Vongola the Tenth."

Sirius's eyes widened in surprise before narrowing in suspicion. Being born a Pure-blood, Sirius had heard of the Vongola and knew the family was influential in both the muggle and wizarding worlds although they did not fit strictly in either category. The Vongola were known to be the kings of the underworld although they held enough economic and political sway that no law enforcement agency could go after them. Despite their power they were also known to have very little to do with the magical community outside of their wizarding investments and their protection of those investments.

"What would the Vongola want with me?" Sirius asked dubiously.

"Someone I have recently come to care for has a connection to you and thus caused you and your case to come to my attention." Tsuna explained careful to stay vague. "I had you investigated and found several discrepancies in regards to your case, most notably that you never received a trial. I would like to change that. Regardless of whether or not you are guilty, I do believe that you at least deserve a trial."

"Who is this person that is causing you to champion me? I thought it was just a well known fact that I'm a traitor?"

"That I'd rather not tell you at the moment though if you give me the information I want, I will consider telling you."

"What do you want to know?"

"Did you betray the Potters to Voldemort?" Tsuna asked. With such a direct question he did not feel he needed his HDWM to be able to allow his Hyper Intuition to perceive truths and lies.

"No I did not. I would have rather died than betray James, Lily, and Harry! But I was still responsible for their deaths. It was my fault." Sirius cried vehemently.

"So you were not the Potter's secret keeper. I suspected as much." Tsuna said settling more comfortably in his chair now that the most important question had been answered.

"You believe me? Just like that?" Sirius asked in disbelief.

"What do you know about the Vongola, Mr. Black?" Tsuna asked seeming amused.

"Not much. Only that your family is very powerful, although most of your family are said to be muggles. Though all of you whether muggle or wizard are known to be powerful fighters."

"That is all true though even those of us not born as wizards have abilities beyond the average non-magical person. The thing though is that the head of the Vongola is said to have some unique abilities. One such ability is to see through all lies and deceptions. I'll be honest with you, although I would have worked to get you a fair trial because it is the right thing to do, I would not be here talking to you myself if I did not believe you innocent. Now would you like to tell me about the circumstances that landed you in here?"

Sirius stared at the young man trying to gauge his sincerity. After a minute he decided that he had very little to lose and some gut instinct was telling him the Vongola Family Head was completely trustworthy.

"When Dumbledore suggested that Lily and James go into hiding because they and the Longbottoms were being targeted by Voldemort and suggested using the Fidelius Charm, they originally wanted me as the Secret Keeper. I then suggested they use Peter as the Secret Keeper instead while I played decoy because I was too obvious of a choice." Sirius started his story.

"Hm. Kyoya will be happy his theory is true." Tsuna muttered before explaining upon seeing Sirius and Higgins confused looks, "The family member that I assigned to investigate Mr. Black. He suggested that you were too obvious as a Secret Keeper and suspected that Pettigrew was the true Secret Keeper and the one to betray the Potters."

"Your investigator is sharp Mr. Vongola." Sirius complimented with some awe.

"He is, but some of it was fairly obvious. You are not the only one to think you are too obvious a choice. It's just unfortunate that most wizards do not employ common sense and logic as much as they should. Also please call me Tsuna, I think we will be dealing with each other a lot in the foreseeable future and formalities are cumbersome."

"Then call me Sirius, I've never been fond of being called Mr. Black." At Tsuna's compliant nod Sirius continued his story. "On the night that Lily and James were killed, I had a bad feeling so I went to check Peter's hiding spot. Peter wasn't there and there was no sign of a struggle so I rushed to Godric's Hollow. When I got there I found the house destroyed, James and Lily dead, and only Harry alive. Hagrid got there soon after and I offered to take Harry, begged actually, since I was his godfather, but Hagrid said Dumbledore had already arranged for Harry to be taken somewhere safe and refused to hand Harry over to me. I loaned Hagrid my motorcycle to take Harry. The tyke always loved riding on it. I would have argued more but figured it was better Harry go someplace safe until things settled down then I could take Harry back.

That was stupid of me. Harry should have been my first priority, but I'm a hot-headed Gryffindor. I then went to try to track down Peter in order to kill him and extract revenge for James and Lily's deaths. I didn't think about the fact that to the world I was their Secret Keeper and thus the traitor. Again stupid of me. I caught up to Peter but the rat and I mean that literally, Peter is a rat animagus, started yelling about how I betrayed James and then he blew up the street and I assume escaped. I was kind of unhinged at that point (and probably still am if not worse) and was just laughing hysterically when the Aurors came and arrested me and charged me with all those crimes that Peter committed. They took my wand and threw me into jail. I thought I could explain things in a trial but well I don't know how long I've been in here now."

"Did they Prior Incantato your wand to see if it had cast the hex that blew up the street?" Reborn asked.

Higgins startled at the question realizing that proving Black's innocence regarding the thirteen murders on that street could have been that easy. Sirius looked at the teenager in surprise as well. "I dunno."

"Mr. Higgins please look into that and see if the wand is still kept as evidence somewhere and make sure it is available for the trial."

"Yes, Mr. Reborn. May I say you are as brilliant as rumored?" Higgins gushed.

"That or the Wizards' criminal justice system is that incompetent." Tsuna muttered beneath his breath. A bullet whizzed by Tsuna's head that he barely dodged. The Vongola boss glared at his mentor as the two wizards stared in stupefaction. "Reborn!"

"You're not allowed to talk about incompetence Dame-Tsuna." Reborn retorted. "As for how long you've been in here Sirius, it's been just over five years."

Sirius leaned back and shut his eyes in anguish. "Five years." He mused, " Harry must have grown a lot in that time and I missed it. At least he should be happy living with the Longbottoms now that Voldemort is gone. Bet he and Neville are as close as brothers like James and I were."

Tsuna shot a quick look to Reborn and at his adviser's slight nod girded himself to deliver the bad news. "Harry is not living with the Longbottoms. Alice and Frank Longbottom were attacked by Death Eaters not long after Voldemort's defeat. Both were tortured into insanity. Neville is living with his grandmother, Augusta Longbottom."

"And Harry? What happened to Harry?" Sirius barked, his eyes gleaming manically giving evidence to the fact that Azkaban had affected his sanity more than he previously allowed to show.

Tsuna exhaled a long tired breath, "Harry is actually the reason I'm here now. He was the person I was referring to earlier. Harry was sent to live with his aunt, Petunia Dursley."

"Lily's sister?" Sirius asked as dread pooled in his gut when Tsuna gave him a grim nod, "Lily's sister is a muggle and she hates magic."

"Yes and Harry has not had a happy life living there, but he is safe and away from them now." Tsuna told the man. With sad sympathetic eyes, Tsuna began to tell Sirius about how he found Harry and all that they had discovered since then. He also went on to explain all they had managed to do and showed Sirius the reports from the doctors, healers, and government agencies.

"Merlin's balls! What the hell is Albus playing at putting Harry with those people and keeping him there?" Sirius exclaimed in agitation.

"We don't know, but that is why we need you. I can take care of the non-magical side of things but Dumbledore is Harry's magical guardian and that needs to change. I currently have custody of Harry awarded by the non-magical government but I get a feeling your magical government won't care about that and I refuse to let Dumbledore take Harry back to his repulsive relatives. You're his godfather and should be his magical guardian. If we can prove you innocent, you should be able to wrest Harry's guardianship back from Dumbledore. After that we can go from there to decide what will be best for Harry. Are you willing to work with me on this?" Tsuna questioned his eyes serious and glowing orange.

"For Harry I'd do anything. I owe you a lot for what you have done and what you are planning on doing. Just tell me what I need to do."

Tsuna looked at the resolve in the man's eyes and smiled. He had a feeling he and Sirius Black would get along just fine. After all, both would do anything for those they considered family and understood blood does not make family but rather devotion.

Omake

Contrary to popular belief, Tsuna was not incompetent at learning everything. He, in fact, had a gift with languages. His bad English grades were not a product of inability so much as laziness and lack of motivation. This ability when it was finally revealed to Reborn caused him to experience much suffering at the hands of his enraged tutor but did make his future language lessons progress much more quickly.

What could motivate the no-good boy to actually utilize his gift? The answer was simple and obvious once Reborn knew the gift existed. Tsuna's friends and family. Tsuna would do anything, go through any trouble, or pain for the sake of those he loved and cared for. The first to discover Tsuna's ability was I-pin. Living with the tiny Chinese assassin taught the future mafia Don her native language since the child's Japanese was still rough. The little girl was thrilled when her big brother started speaking to her in Chinese and felt no reason to inform anyone else that he could.

When Reborn caught Tsuna talking to the girl in Chinese, he grilled his student on how he managed to learn the language so fluently. Reborn almost face-palmed when a confused Tsuna replied with, "I just picked it up listening to I-pin." It did not take much for Reborn to figure out the issue with Tsuna's ease at learning Chinese when the boy had been hopeless at learning English or Italian.

The following year found everyone in Tsuna's familgia (with the exception of Hibari though it could be argued that Hibari spoke his own unique language) that was able to, speaking to the boy in every language they knew excluding Japanese. Reborn banned anyone that could speak another language from speaking to Tsuna in Japanese and Tsuna was likewise banned from speaking to his famiglia in Japanese (under pain of punishment). It caused some problems at school but Tsuna became fluent in more languages faster than he could have ever dreamed of. On the plus side he was getting consistently good marks in English after that even if he spent several months trying to communicate with gestures and simple words.

AN: The CCA is the real company that is currently leasing Brocket Hall and running it. As far as I know they do not have ties to the triads but I noticed that they were a Chinese company and decided it would be fun to make them related to I-pin.

I apologize if my attempt at the rough speech/accent is horrible.

The omake is because I wanted to explain how Tsuna can speak all these languages he has been using so easily. The Varia requires all its members to be able to speak at least six languages. I doubt Reborn would let the boss of the Vongola speak any less.

So I hope Sirius's introduction has not been a disappointment. Just a note since so many of you seem to be anticipating it, Sirius's trial is separate to Harry's custody battle.

Was going to post tomorrow for Mukuro's b-day but I'll be busy and out of the house most of tomorrow so you get it today and it's the 9th in Japan so good enough.

Please leave a review! Again much thanks and love to those that review!
