I'M SO SO SO SO SO SORRY THAT I HAVEN'T WRITTEN IN SO LONG! ONCE AGAIN SCHOOL IS KICKING MY FUCKING ASS, PLUS IT'S HARD GETTING INTO THE 'FANFICTION WRITING' MOOD. SO I'M TRYING TO CONTINUE
"Hey Nick," Olivia sighed as she opened the door, revealing the young detective dressed casually in jeans, tennis shoes, and a Miami Heat jersey. He held a bag of diapers in his hand, handing them to Olivia.
"Hey Liv, I just got back...I'm sorry that I was with the family,"he apologized. Olivia moved out the way, letting Nick walk into her apartment.
"Nick don't even apologized. Family is family,"
"You and Noah should have came," Nick sat down on the couch, looking at Noah who slept in his bouncy chair.
"Noah, that's your family. I don't want to intrude on your private life,"
"Liv, you're my family. We're still close Liv...you know that right?"
Olivia gave him a thin smile and nodded her head. She sat down on the couch beside him, sighing. "You didn't have to bring diapers Nick. I already got some,"
"From who?"Nick asked. Olivia smirked realizing just how nosy Nick could be. He actually reminded her of Elliot in a way. The anger, the attitude, and the worry for her was there. She and Nick did have there moments but like Nick said, they were close. They had each other's back, of course she didn't fully trust him, but she knows him.
"Alois brought them over," Olivia said. Nick saw the grin she gave him just as she said Alois's name. He cocked his head to the side and Olivia quickly looked down, avoiding his gaze.
Nick didn't really trust Olivia's choices in men. First there was David Haden, who he had no problem with but was still cautious of. Then there was Brian, the asshole he couldn't stand to see Liv with. He didn't trust Cassidy, especially when it came to Liv. After Liv told them they split he had to mentally fight a smile from getting on his face. It's not that he liked seeing Olivia heartbroken, he just liked when one of the jerks she dated left her life. He still questioned why someone so beautiful, smart , and caring could be single at her age. Set aside from how stubborn she was.
Nick offered her blind dates, but of course, she declined. Same excuse all the time, 'I'm good with just the job'. He actually felt bad for her.
"You're talking about the doctor?"he asked quietly.
"Uh, yeah,"
"Liv...you aren't seeing this guy are you?"
"Nick we're just friends,"
"You just met him. Plus I thought Haden was a friend too. Look how that turned out," He hadn't meant to make her angry, but the look she gave him when she snapped her head up, made him run his hand down his face. The last thing he didn't want was an upset Olivia Benson. "Liv, I didn't mean it like that. I trust you it's just-"
"I don't need your trust, Amaro. It's my own damn life,"she snapped.
Damn she said Amaro, she must be upset, Nick thought. Everyone knew when Liv was mad she would use your last name when she spoke to you.
"Liv, I just want to make sure you're okay,"
"I know Alois, Nick,"
"I just don't know Liv," they glared at each other for what seemed like forever, until Nick rolled his eyes letting out a loud sigh."I'm going to go Liv,"
"I think that's best,Amaro,"she mumbled.
Nick looked at her one last time before he stood up, making his way to the door. As he put his hand on the door knob he spoke to her softly. "I want you to be safe Liv. Make sure you don't get hurt again, I just want to see you happy. Besides we don't want you snapping at everyone because you're pissed,"
Did AMARO really have the fucking nerve to say that,Liv thought.
"Get the fuck out of here Nick,"she spat. "I'll see you on Monday,"
She heard him leave and looked back at Noah, watching him sleep peacefully.
At least one of us can.
She picked up her phone and dialed Alois's number. After four rings he had answered.
"Anderson,"he answered. Olivia smiled, realizing she also answered her phone seriously by her last name.
"Hey this is Liv,"
"Oh, hi,"Alois beamed, his voice going from serious to excited.
"Did I just disturb you during work?"
"Nope. But it wasn't fun getting a bullet out of an officers stomach,"
Olivia winced, biting her lower lip."is the officer okay?"
"Yeah, he's lucky. Anyway, is there anything wrong?"
"To be honest...I don't know,"
"Is it me?"
"It's so many many things,"
Alois, who was at the coffee shop where they had first met, leaned his head against the cold glass, looking at pedestrians past by in the rain."Olivia I can...stop talking to you if that's what you want,"
Olivia sighed, looking out of her own apartment window, staring at the rain. Since Olivia was a little girl she had loved the rain, finding it calming and soothing. When she was young and her mother would be drunk, screaming at the top of her lungs about her 'no good father' Olivia would lock herself in her bedroom to peer out the window enjoying the noise of the rain. Sometimes after one of her mother's beatings, she would even open the window to hold her arm out, feeling something soft against her skin other than her mother's punches.
With Elliot, she had told him this and he would lower the window for her in the car on rainy days. It was one of the sacrifices he did for her. He would be willing to get drenched for her and Fun and Amaro followed suit. At one time she didn't tell Chester Lake about her mother but only about liking rain and he purposely parked far away from a suspects house so they could race back to the car in the rain, laughing while pedestrians looked at them confused. Even Rafael was willing to stand out in the rain for her.
"Only once okay?" Rafael Barba laughed as he held Olivia's hand. Olivia laughed at him as he shook still enjoyed it, joking with her outside the bar. "You owe me a new suit and remind me to send you my hairdressers bill," even though he never did.
Those work days, were the ones to cherish.
"No Alois...I need a friend. And I still want to go...To the cookout,"
Alois barely heard her, but he could still hear the depression in her voice. "Liv...can I come over? Maybe just talk,"
It was a few minutes of silence before Olivia agreed. Alois said he'd be there later and they both hung up.
Olivia dropped her phone onto the couch, walking to the window. She opened it putting her arm out the window. She felt relaxed and looked over at Noah. She grinned, mumbling to him. "I'll always take care of you my baby,"
