Hey guys sorry about the wait. I hope this chapter makes up for it. Now we are starting to get into the movie bit. Disclaimer: Don't own anything, but I can dream. Please review!

Balancing a dozen doughnuts in one hand and three cups of coffee in the other, Evelyn stared in contemplation at Steve's door. On one hand she could kick it, but if Howard had the headache she imagined he had that would be a rude awakening. Then again it could be locked and she would have to knock anyways to get Steve to open it. On the other she could wriggle her foot out of its show and try opening the door that way, depending on if it wasn't locked. If her hands weren't so full she would have rubbed her chin. Decisions. Decisions.

Before she was about to execute plan B, the door swung open. Smiling at Steve she gave him a quick peck on the check, careful to avoid his bruise, and deposited her goods on the table in front of the couch. Staring at Howard she noticed that he hadn't moved from the position she had dumped him in from last night and after a moment became privy to the fact that the suave Mr. Stark had an odd whistling, snort snore. Evelyn grinned. Having blackmail was so much fun.

Turning to Steve and pointing to the comatose Howard with her thumb she asked, "How was crashing with sleeping beauty last night?" Howard took the moment after her sentence to let out a loud snort whistle. Evelyn had to bite her lip to prevent herself from howling. If only she had something to record this with! Steve rolled his eyes in response and shot an annoyed glare at the couch. "I don't know if you would believe it, but he was actually louder last night. I barely caught any sleep since that odd snore of his would happen sporadically. Every time I was about to fall asleep he would do it! I'm exhausted," he finished with a groan.

Walking over to him, Evelyn wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed the corner of one sleep deprived eye. Pulling back with a grin she cooed, "Aww my poor baby. Do you want me to kiss it all better?" Before waiting for an answer she crashed her lips to his, lightly nipping his bottom lip. After a few seconds she pulled away and with the smile still hovering around her lips she casually dropped, "Why did you go to that recruiting tent at the Stark Expo Steve?"

If she wasn't currently so angry at him, the expression on his face would have been priceless. As it was, the anger and fear from seeing the army recruitment paper in his hand last night raced through her like a flood. Stepping away from his embrace she wandered over to the table, grabbed her coffee, and pushing Howard's feet off of the couch, daintly sat and sipped her beverage while staring at Steve from the top of the rim.

Howard let out a noise like a broken chainsaw before settling and out of the corner of her eye, Evelyn saw him slowly sliding off the couch from the way she had moved him. At the rate he was going he would wake up from crashing on the floor after they were done discussing Steve's papers. Excellent.

Steve was still staring at her wide eyed, looking like how she would imagine Bambi would look staring into the headlights of a oncoming truck. Lifting an eyebrow while lowering her drink she asked, "Well? I'm waiting." As the silence continued to grow she tapped a finger against her lips, "Hmm, I seem to recall saying that you could get arrested by lying on official government documents and that you wouldn't try any more. Do you recall this conversation Steve? Because I could have sworn that we had it less than 24 hours ago. Then again," her finger had taken up a steady tempo against her lower lip, "my memory nowadays is so faulty. Care to refresh it?" Her hand dropped down to her lap.

The glare she leveled at him seemed to do the trick since he snapped out of his frozen deer moment and started tapping his fingers against his thigh. Glancing around at every available surface besides her he started, "Um ... Evelyn, I know that I shouldn't have gone so soon after our earlier ... talk, but," and the sentence lingered as he stared at her; the wide eyed look making a come back. Evelyn continued to arch her eyebrow in response.

Steve swallowed compulsively twice and Evelyn couldn't help but stare at his adam's apple as it bobbed ... No! Bad thoughts, keep on track Evelyn! she scolded herself almost missing the next thing Steve blurted out.

"I'vebeenapprovedandgointotrainingnextweek."

For a second Evelyn blinked as she tried to process what the hell he had just said.

Five seconds later it sunk it.

"WHAT!" she roared accidentally crushing her paper coffee mug and scalding her hand. Not that she noticed. Howard jerked from her scream/yell and flopped fully on the floor, banging his head in the process and letting out a moan, not that the other two occupants were paying any attention.

"What!" she screeched again, as if he hadn't heard her the first time. Taking a deep breath and vaugely feeling her skin knit together from the burns, she let it out slowly before smiling. "Steve, sweetheart, I'm sure that I must have hallucinated the last ten seconds. I must have drunk more than I thought last night. Now tell me again what you just said because I could have sworn you said that you were accepted into the army."

The silence was pretty telling.

Counting down from twenty backwards, Evelyn could feel fear starting to overpower the anger that she felt. How could he have been approved? He had been denied four times already! It wasn't like he miraculously bulked up from yesterday to today or somehow lost his lifelong asthma condition. She was missing something big here.

"Who waz te banshee tha got murdered?" came a fuzzy sentence from under the table. Scowling Evelyn glanced at the rumpled man blinking blearily up at her as he licked his lips and winced. "Wha died in ma mouth?!" Sighing Evelyn got up and grabbed Howard by his jacket and dragged him back up on the couch. Taking in his appearance she winced. Stark was not a graceful morning after person that was for sure. Handing him his cup of coffee she waited until he got some bearings back before looking at Steve again.

He was staring at her with a mixture of apprehension and determination, and with a sinking heart she knew exactly what was going through his mind. He was going to go. Not because he didn't love her, but because he had found something to fight for. A part of it, she knew, was that he felt he would be keeping her safe by fighting so the war didn't reach America, but she knew that despite all his heart he ... he just couldn't survive. Forget training, five seconds in real combat there wouldn't be a Steve Rogers left.

Feeling her eyes water she walked back over to him and hugged him. She could rage all she wanted and create a rift or she could suck it up and support him and somehow find a way to go with him into the army; even if it was just following from afar. There was no way in HELL she was letting go on his merry way to war by himself. She was the invincible one here. Hell she was more qualified than anyone in the army on her biology alone. And that wasn't counting her mean right hook either.

A cough drew their attention to the couch where Howard was sitting looking confused as he nursed his cup of coffee. "Did I miss something?" Staring between the two of them he asked, "What day is it?" Letting out a watery snort Evelyn rolled her eyes and said, "Don't worry Howard you didn't sleep your life away. It's only the next morning. And as for what you missed," pause, "Steve got accepted into the army."

Howard took one look at his coffee cup before staring at Evelyn and bluntely asked, "What hallucinogenic did you stick in my coffee?" With a scowl that could peel paint Evelyn let go of Steve to poke Howard in the forehead. "You ass. There's only cream and sugar in there! If I was going to adle your head trust me would you see it coming in the form of a punch! Steve's going into the army," plopping down next to him on the couch she mumbled, "He got accepted yesterday at the recruiting tent at your Stark Expo."

Howard raised an eyebrow at Steve, "Is that where you were last night when Evelyn was by herself? I tried asking her out you know," with a smirk he asked, "So you're going into the army huh?" After Steve nodded Howard seemed to focus a bit more and Evelyn could see that it was starting to click that he was currently staring at a 95 pound tops twig. The smirk slowly melted off his face. "Oh," with a quick glance to Evelyn out of the corner of his eye he pushed himself off the couch unsteadily and wobbled to his feet. "Thanks for letting me crash on your couch Steve, but I just remembered that ... uh ... stock ... board ... fundraiser! meeting that's happening ... uh," glancing around he saw the clock hanging on the wall, "Now! Yes! Happening right now! Uh .. I should go," Glancing around he patted his chest until he found a pocket and digging around whipped out a business card. Handing it to Evelyn he winked, even though she could see that he had grasped the meaning behind Steve's acceptance, and said, "We will definitely hang out some more. Give me a call and if you get some stiff named Oliver who answers tell him Jarvis told you to call. He'll patch you through to me real quick." Shuffling over to Steve he clasped an unsteady hand on his shoulder and said, "Maybe I'll see you around camp. I'm in the army too you know!"

Evelyn let out a snort behind him, but he just turned and waived at her mumbling under his breath about calling his limo from a pay phone, before he was out the door. They could hear a bang and a curse after a second before the heavy footfalls got further away.

With a sigh Evelyn patted the spot on the couch next to her. After a moment, Steve hesitantly made his way over and sat at the edge looking ready to bolt. Seeing this Evelyn made her move. Launching across the space she straddled his lap and placed her hands on either side of his head knowing that he couldn't dislodge her even if he wanted to.

Steve silently stared up at her and she could see him bracing himself for her rant. Rolling her eyes she buried her face in the side of his neck and held onto him silently for a few moments before speaking. "I'm not going to rant and rave and guilt trip you into deciding to go to the training camp. I know you would just do it any ways," she could feel him jolt from her unexpected statement. Pressing her lips against his skin she continued to whisper, "I could do that, but it would only waste the time we had together and get nothing accomplished." Pulling back she stared at him before stating, "That's why I'm coming with you."

Jerking harder in shock, Steve's arms automatically circled her waist as he gapped up at her. After a couple of moments of looking like a fish he sputtered, "W-what! You can't!" As her eyebrow slowly went up in her what did you just tell me to do facial expression he back peddled, "Um, what I mean is, you won't be able to join the army Evelyn. They don't allow women there. It's a man's job."

"Steve, if you can somehow miraculously join the army then I can too. Speaking of miraculous," here she hovered her face above his, her lips barely brushing against his own, "tell me what miracle occurred in that tent that got you in the army."

That night as Steve slept, Evelyn found herself wide awake. Steve hadn't come right out and said it, but what that doctor had implied screamed experiment. A haven't had it tested on others before picking you kind of experiment. Grasping Steve tighter Evelyn pressed a fierce kiss against his chest. Mumbling, Steve let out a gently sigh before burying his head in her hair. If she wasn't convinced about following him before, now there was no way in all the seven layers of hell she was letting him go by himself.

Recalling the business card Howard had left she pressed another kiss into Steve's collar bone. Shifting her thigh between Steve's legs she buried her face in the curve of his shoulder and neck and resolved to called 'Jarvis' first thing in the morning. If there was anyone she would bet money on who knew his way around the rules it would be Howard.
