A / n: Okay so before I get seriously harmed – I know an update for this story has been a long time coming! However, I'm a working gal so it's a little hard to find the time and balance everything, but I will always continue a story unless specifically stated otherwise – which you don't have to worry about anytime soon xD SO – without further a-do, here's the next chapter for this story. Thank you for sticking with it and me! :)
Biting Paws
Chapter Nine
"Clawd Wolf, I want to know what's going on right now." Draculaura pleaded at him, watery-eyed and cornering him in his own kitchen. He sighed, he wasn't really sure. Between the guys, they came up with two plans. Plan a) have an intimate action with Toralei and see what happens and then plan b) think long and hard about his current feelings towards Draculaura. Or maybe plan a) was plan b), and plan b) was plan a)?
He couldn't tell you what he was doing ten minutes ago, he felt so incredibly stressed out.
Right now she was being emotionally overbearing and he could understand why. He wasn't quite acting like himself but then again this wasn't exactly a normal situation either.
"Draculaura, I think we need a tiny bit of a break away from one another to really figure things out. Where our relationship is going, what we really want... and I mean, really want and if we can both give that to one another."
She shook her head in denial. "I don't understand Clawd, what are you talking about?" The way her bottom lip quivered innocently made him feel like such a huge jerk, but he didn't know what he wanted right now so he needed to clear his mind from any and all distractions. He needed some serious 'me time'. And to focus on himself right now.
"Lala, here's a few good starters of what to think about in this time off. First of all – offspring. I really care about you, but can we really have a family together? Do you even want to have a family? What does Draculaura want, that Clawd might not be able to give her?"
Before she could speak, he hugged her and she cried harder. "This isn't just time for me, it's time for you too. I need you to understand that."
She nodded.
"Please, you have to understand that. And Draculaura, I'd prefer you give my sisters as limited information as possible. I really don't need Clawdeen harping on me every spare moment she gets." That was the biggest pain he could think of about their relationship, was that not everything stayed between just them. His sister was involved because they were such good friends. He understood that when he got into this relationship – he just figured he could handle it a bit better.
Or maybe he figured they wouldn't get... too serious.
Either way, he just needed some time away. And he was going to get it, with an 'all boys week' at Deuce's house. His mother was away for the week and he told the guys he'd feel a bit lonely. Even Cleo had a booked up week so he wouldn't mind some company – and Clawd jumped at the chance. He just... couldn't stay here. He couldn't think straight.
"I will try." She told him, reaching up to kiss his cheek. "Talk to you soon, bye for now Clawd." She humbly grabbed her shoulder bag – a couple sniffles leaving her frame as she exited the Wolf residence.
Clawd went straight up to his room to pack a big luggage bag full of his clothes, as well as his gym bag and backpack for school. He could hardly wait to get out of here for awhile. Sitting on the suitcase to zip it up completely, he succeeded and found himself packing his own car.
His innermost feelings couldn't describe how great this time away would truly be. If it ended up cancelled, he would be legitimately crushed. That's how much he was anticipating it.
Clawd hopped in and turned the radio up a little louder than normal, trying to clear his mind as quickly as possible. It only took him about fifteen minutes to get from his driveway, to Deuce's. "Hey," he greeted the gorgon, who gave a warm grin upon seeing him.
"Hey Clawd, glad to see you here." He observed him for a moment after nearly falling over as he took on the luggage, and he was not weak by any means. Taking a moment to study his good friend. "You look kinda... upset though."
Clawd just shook his head, Deuce stepping aside to let him in and shutting the front door behind them. "I just got done telling Draculaura that we needed a bit of a break from one another."
Deuce soon slowly sank down into the sofa of the living room, Clawd doing the same on the other side right after they completely entered the home. "Ah man, I see. How do you feel about that?"
Clawd bit down on his lip. "Honestly?"
Deuce nodded as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. "Yeah, of course. It's just us dudes. I may tell Cleo pretty much everything, but this stays between us dudes."
"Okay well... part of me feels freed. But the other part of me feels like a massive jerk. Even her bottom lip quivered." He sighed, feeling guilty just thinking about the look on her face in that moment.
Deuce sighed, "Yeah... that sounds tough."
Clawd shook his head, "But how can I concentrate on what I really want, if I have either side clouding my thoughts? That's why I'm so glad you offered this... kinda getaway, 'cause believe me – I need it."
He nodded curtly, "I figured you did, that's why I offered. The other guys are more than welcome, but I knew you needed this the most. So... what are you gonna think about now that Draculaura and Toralei are no where near to futz up your thoughts?"
The usually confident wolf sunk further in his seat. "Well I asked Lala to really think about where our relationship was going. If she even wanted a family, how we could even have a family of our own, without it bein'... y'know, weird."
Deuce nodded, it did make sense to be nervous or worried about that kinda thing. Draculaura was a bit young, but Clawd wasn't getting any younger, almost done high school and he did currently have cousins that mated a year or so ago, whom are slightly younger than him even.
It was not uncommon for his species to find a forever mate and just, go for it.
Deuce just knew that they had a lot of family. But he wasn't sure about any of them dating... outside their species, for that reason.
Clawd shook his head. "It'd be better if I was into dudes dating outside my species, because then the whole kid thing wouldn't really matter. But that's not the case, I like chicks."
Deuce chuckled, "You say that like it's a bad thing."
Clawd cracked a toothy grin, "I just wish shit wasn't so complicated. Arrgh."
That's something that Deuce wouldn't want to experience. Nor would he ever because he just knew that he wanted to be with Cleo and if they were destined to spend the rest of their undead lives together right now – he'd be perfectly cool with that. He'd like it very much. But things weren't so seemingly easy for Clawd right now. "I don't have an answer to all your problems, but all I can tell you is just to like, follow your heart man. It'll let'cha know what it wants."
Clawd gave a nod and shook his head, "Let's not talk about ghoul-shit, let's eat."
Deuce smirked, knowing he made a good call by setting out a plate of finger foods right on the center of the stone coffee table. "Let's."
Knock, knock, knock.
"Okay Toralei, you got this. Don't freak out, don't freak out. They won't skin you. Although I do have very clawsome fur..." she rambled to herself as she stood on the doorstep of the Wolf residence. She had no idea, no inkling of why she was even there... but all she knew was that she had to see Clawd Wolf again.
Was it wrong?
Yes.
Did it make sense?
Absolutely not.
But she still wanted to. As a matter of fact, she wanted to see him more now that there wasn't an answer at the door. Until she heard growling on the other side of the door. "Clawd, is that you? I don't even care if you're mad..."
"Stripe." - uh oh, that wasn't Clawd. That was his sister, Clawdeen.
"... you're not Clawd." Her eyes darted left and right, trying to figure out a better path to dart in.
"What do you want with my brother?"
"Nothing!"
"Right, because that's why you walk all the way here from, from... wherever you live." Clawdeen scoffed, opening the door. A chain lock still keeping the door between them. "What's it to you?"
Part of the troubled werecat wanted to tell the truth. But how could one particularly word, 'I think your brother's hot' in just the right, non-offensive way? Not only that... but a larger part of her wanted, but more so knew to just keep it a secret and others guessing – as per usual.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
She purred tauntingly, "Well what business is it of yours? I'm looking for your brother, not you."
Clawdeen growled, baring her sharp pearly whites. "You better get scarce, or you'll be sorry."
"Alright, okaay, relax. My goodness, grab yourself a therapeutic facial ghoul. You look like you need it."
The front door slammed and another couple locks were fastened after the door shut. She might not have accomplished what she set out to do, but pissing someone off was always fun. But it very strangely wasn't as satisfying as even five minutes with Clawd Wolf.
She looked at the door for another second, but turned off to walk away. He wasn't home, she'd just have to wait.
Toralei Stripe hated waiting.
Here it is!
I truly hope it was worth the wait,
more to come soon.
Please read & review, it means the world to me =]
