Septa:

I watch as the mentors for Districts Three and Nine leave the room. Their tributes died this morning in the initial bloodbath. My only problem is that I don't know what is going on. I don't know how my tributes are doing in the Arena and I don't know how things are going in the Districts. Nothing has gone to plan. And it's all because a pompous old man questioned the success of my plan. Now the Districts are on lock down and there is a good chance that Eleven will be destroyed, down to the last child. Plutarch had better hope he dies before I get out of here. Otherwise, I'll be the one to kill him.

It's a few hours after the mentors have left that I look at Katniss again. She's not a true mentor anymore. She doesn't belong in here. She was here because I asked for her support in the Games. I nudge her. She looks at me, a questioning look in her eyes. "What?" She mouths. I look at the door. Haymitch is guarding it tonight. Together, we can get Katniss out. I turn back to her. There is a steady hum of whispered conversations so ours won't be noticed.

"We have to get you out of here." I whisper. "I need you on the outside. You can get a hold of her easier than either Haymitch or me. And there is no telling when I'll be coming out. Plus, I have a bad feeling about what's going on. I need you to find out and then get the information to Haymitch so he can get it so me."

"What about you?"

"Don't worry about me. I need you to find out what is going on. And keep an eye on Tammy and Tanner for me. And check on Twelve."

"I will. I promise." I nod and stand. She stands as well and supports me to the door where Haymitch stands.

"No one can leave."

"No, we were told that the mentors couldn't leave. Catnip is not a mentor. She was retired a few years ago. She was here to see how I was doing, like she always does, and she wasn't able to get away before the Games started." I look pointedly at him.

"Alright. My shift changes in a few minutes. I'll escort her out." He grabs her arm and I nod. I hobble back to my cot and lay down. A few minutes later, I hear the Peacekeeper come in and Haymitch and Katniss leave. I don't know what Haymitch told the Peacekeeper, but it must have been enough to get Katniss out. I just hope that he can get her back to her house. Or someplace safe.

The Capitol:

"Keep up." He hissed in her ear as they walked along the hall.

"What are you afraid of, Haymitch?"

"The mentors that left today, they didn't go to their homes here in the Capitol. I don't know where they were taken. I just know that they weren't taken home."

"Then where are you taking me?"

"For now, outside. I need to report that I am leaving for the night. Wait for me outside. We need to get you someplace safe."

"But,"

"No buts, Katniss. Things got fucked over in Thirteen and it's coming back to bite us all in the ass. Get outside and go home. I'll meet you at your place in the morning. I need to make a call when I get home. Go on." He shoved her out the door and locked it and walked away. Katniss pulled on her hood and walked into the dark alleys. Her mind was troubled. She had no idea why Septa sent her out. She wasn't sure she was comfortable leaving Septa on her own in the middle of the headquarters of the Capitol. What unnerved her the most was the fact that Haymitch was showing his fear. They were in the middle of the lions' den as it was. From the way Septa and Haymitch were acting, the lions were closing in. She knew the best thing she could do now was what Septa asked her to do. And right now, that was looking after the tributes from Twelve. She had to know what was going on in the arena.

She stopped short as she rounded the corner where he house was located. She stepped back into the shadows. She could hear the Peacekeepers tearing up her home. They were looking for some evidence that she was involved in everything that was going on. They wouldn't find anything. Her Mockingjay suite was where she had left it in the closet along with her pin and pearl. They knew that it was there. They had always periodically checked her house. But now she knew that she had to leave it. They would be looking for her once they realized that she was gone. She knew where Haymitch lived. She would stay with him until things calmed down. But first, she needed her things. After that, she would have to hide the evidence that she was missing. She knew where she could get a dead body. She had had to protect her secret from the spies that Coin had sent into the Capitol in search of her. She had hidden them in the sewers. One was female and the same age and height that she was. It was nothing to get her blood from the blood bank and inject it into the cadaver.

He sighed as he entered his house. He wondered where he could hide Katniss. He knew that Septa needed her here. But that was debatable now. Everything had gone to hell when Plutarch organized the uprising in Eleven. It was like he was trying to destroy Panem and then remake it in the way he wanted it to be. "What we need to do is get Septa to headquarters." He mumbled.

"I couldn't agree more." A voice said from his kitchen. He pulled his knife as the light clicked on. Katniss was sitting at his table, a glass of wine in her hand.

"How did you get in here?"

"You left the back door open."

"What aren't you are your house?"

"The Peacekeepers burnt it down." He looked at her critically. "Okay, so I faked my death. But I had to. They were searching it for signs. I knew they would. It's a good thing I hadn't taken down my suit at the time." Haymitch noticed the parcel on the table. "Yes, this is the suit Cinna made me. I have my pin to and a few changes of clothes."

"Why did you burn your own house?"

"So I could get out of the Capitol. If I am dead here, I can change my look and get out without much of a problem."

"How do you plan on convincing the Capitol asses that you are dead?"

"Well, there are a few who would have blown my cover. So they had to go. I had them hidden. One just happened to be the perfect match. So I got my blood from the bank, injected her with it, and set my house on fire. They should have gotten it out by now and discovered the body."

"So what's your plan now? It's safe to say that Septa trusts you to be her second-in-command and to lead in her place should this have happened."

"I can best keep an eye on everything from HQ. I need you to arrange transport out for me. I need to see what is going on."

"Well, I can't guarantee that it'll be comfortable. But I can see about getting you assigned to one of the Districts. From there, you can make your way back to HQ where you'll be safe enough." Katniss nodded. And looked at the screen. The tributes were quiet for now, so the President had decided to address the people.

"People of Panem, I have an update for you." He said, his blue eyes flashing dangerously. "The rebels in District Eleven are being led by their mentors. Just tonight, I have learned that they attacked a citizen of the Capitol. They have burned their home with the occupant inside. I cannot say much on the identity of the victim, but she used to be a mentor in the Games who chose to live here in the Capitol. This is the last straw. At dawn, repercussions will be taken against District Eleven. This is your warning, rebels. I will find you and you will pay the price of your actions. My predecessor, President Snow, wasn't able to destroy you because of his failing health. But believe me when I say that I will finish what he started. Goodnight." The screen returned to the arena and a lone tribute who wandered the forest by themselves. Katniss and Haymitch looked at each other.

"We need to get you to HQ." He handed her a uniform and she disappeared into the back.

Septa:

I look at the ceiling. I feel like I am back in the Arena. Wait a minute, I am. Only, this Arena is bigger and full of modern equipment and not the swords and bow and arrows and knives I used before. I open my locket and look at the picture of my parents. I can't help but wonder if they would be proud of me and everything I've done. What would Dad think if he knew that another family member is participating in another rebellion? Uncle Cinna died because of his actions. When I am found out, I will most likely be killed as well. The President won't be making the mistake of keeping me alive like he did Katniss. I won't fade into the dead and shadows. I will fight and he knows it. And if he tries to keep me alive, I will fight until he is forced to kill me. Katniss's life was miserable when she thought that she had failed and Thirteen was dead. I sigh and close my locket. There is no point in dwelling on it now. What's done is done and I can only hope that they are proud of me and what I have done.

I sit up as light streams in from the skylight. The first day and night of the Games have come and gone. My tributes are still alive. Hopefully they can make it to the end and win. Though, surviving might be a bad thing. Once I am out of here, I plan to attack the Capitol. I will do it alone if I have to. But the President must die. We cannot live under this dictatorship any longer. I sigh and draw my knife. It had been my father's I had found it in the move from my house to Victor's Village. It had been hidden under a loose floorboard along with a token. He never told us that he had been in the Games. But then again, he came from a Career District. I shouldn't have been surprised. It explains how he knew what to tell us. I wonder how many tributes he had to mentor before he was able to retire in peace. He had always told us that he escaped being in the Games because of the Quarter Quell. It makes sense now. He wasn't Reaped to reenter the Games. He managed to evade the Capitol, until they started targeting his children.

I sheath the knife and walk up to the food cart and grab a plate of eggs. Now, it is my turn to fight. "I promise, Dad, everything you have taught me will not be wasted."

Things will be picking up soon. I promise. thanks for reading and please review
