Yeah, I updated pretty quick, because the pain is much better and I finished all the make-up homework I have. This one is...I don't know how to explain. I just hope you like it.

Disclaimer: I don't own The Office. Only Elle and Carrie.

I decided to reply to your reviews, so here we are.

Mrs. Fitzgerald: Thanks, and I can't wait to write more!
Avilio: I agree, sisters are awesome! I figured that Pam had someone she talked to besides her mom, and I'm glad the update made you happy!
luv0817: I know, Casino Night still makes me teary-eyed. I'm going to use Carrie for the story in the future, I'm glad I chose to add her. What you went through with your foot sounds painful, too!
Lindsay: I'm happy that you love the story, and you get to see who came over in this chapter. It won't be much of a surprise, though.
longtallsally: You'll see who came over! I'm glad you kept reading this story, even though you didn't like it at first.
Nicole: Thanks, I liked the last chapter too, and I'm glad you liked it.
Ghostly Green: I like Carrie too, I just needed another person's perspective of Jim and Pam's 'situation'. I updated sooner too, so enjoy!
sarabara: Thanks, and you won't be surprised by who is in the living room.
dancer288: Yeah, I have a lot going on lately. You'll see who the baby-sitter let in!
XALLOWspuffyBuFf: Thanks for thinking I did such a good job on the last chapter, and I'm so happy that your enjoyment of this story hasn't wavered.
bingbangboom714: Yeah, I think we all know know who's in there. I'm pretty sure it's obvious.
ilovepeterpetrelli: I loved the part when they talked on the phone too! It made me smile, they are SO made for each other! ("But don't worry, I'm being safe."-that made my heart melt.)
luannlockhart: I think Carrie seems cool too. I liked adding her.
iheartstanley: I try, so I'm glad you thought that was a great chapter.
irishbabe912: I tried to update soon, and thanks. I feel much better today.

"Oh, boy," Carrie said. Pam's head shot up. Jim stood in the living room, next to Stephanie, the baby-sitter.

"What are you doing here?" Pam asked. Stephanie sighed.

"He wouldn't leave. I told him you were gone and would be home late, but he stayed. The baby's sleeping."

Pam stared at the floor for a few seconds.

"Why did you let him in? I told you not to let strangers in." Pam momentarily forgot about Jim, focusing on the fact that she needed a new baby-sitter.

"Oh, come on. It's not like I saw Jim Halpert and thought 'serial killer'." Emma giggled. "I watch the show."

"She has a good point," Carrie said. Pam turned to her.

"Uh, okay. Um, how much do I owe you?"

"I was here for like an hour, and then a half hour after ten. So... 14.50."

"That much?" Pam asked. Jim just stood, staring at the ground.

"Yeah. Remember, it's 7 for every half-hour after ten." Pam rolled her eyes, then took out some random bills and handed Stephanie the money.

"Oh, and for introductions, Jim, you know me, and this is my sister Pam," Carrie said with a giggle. Pam rolled her eyes again.

"Sorry. Jim, this is my older sister Carrie, and the baby-sitter Stephanie."

"I know Stephanie. She already asked me for an autograph."

"He is so hot," Stephanie said with a wink.

Pam narrowed her eyes for a second before hearing the unmistakable wailing of Elle.

"I'm off the clock," Stephanie said before grabbing her jacket and walking away. "'Bye, Jim," she said before winking again and sauntering off. At least Pam didn't have to drive her home, she lived three doors down.

"I'll take care of it. But first... Pam, let me get you some water. Carrie turned to Jim. "She's overly-intoxicated."

"Ah," he said, letting a small smile creep across his face. Pam glared at her sister, then whacked her in the arm.

"Shut up!"

"Oh, settle down, Pam."

Jim let his smile grow a tiny bit more. For a second, he saw two teenage sisters fighting over the remote. Pam gave him a look of confusion, one that he'd only seen a million times after Michael told her about some new idea of his.

After Carrie walked out to the kitchen, Pam sat down on the couch.

There they stood, alone.

"Wow." Jim kept the smile on his face, then shifted from one foot to the other. Pam noticed.

"Oh, sorry. Take a seat."

"Thanks." the silence that settled over the room made her mouth feel dry. Thankfully, Carrie walked in with a tall glass of water and a bagel.

"Here ya go." Pam took a bite out of the bagel, happy that Carrie didn't have any smart remarks to make. Maybe she finally realized that this was anything but funny.

"So, that's your sister," Jim said. Pam nodded, then swallowed.

"Yeah, isn't she something?" Jim chuckled.

"Seems nice. You seem so annoyed, but you two are actually really alike." Pam gave him her are-you-serious? look.

"Yeah, you are. She's sarcastic, and, well, so are you. And she is letting you vent to her. Oh, and the whole water and bagel thing? You totally would have done that." Jim drummed his fingers on the arm of the chair he was in. Pam took another bite, chewed thoughtfully.

"Maybe." They sat, surrounded by awkwardness and thoughts. Jim took the opportunity to tell her why he'd even come.

"So, I know I said that I wasn't, uh, ready. And I said that I needed time. But I just needed to know." He looked up at her, giving her the same look he'd given her so long ago, when she was wearing a periwinkle blue dress and he had a tear running down his cheek.

"Know what?" It came out angrier than she'd intended, and she immediately felt bad. If anyone had the right to be angry, it was him.

"How it went. When you told Roy. Why on earth you didn't tell me." His words made her running thoughts crash into each other, her mind melting into a mass of confusion.

"I told Roy the day after I found out. First I told my mother. She, uh, helped me pack. I lived with them while I attended Pratt." Her words surprised him, he hadn't expected her to be so direct.

"Oh." He didn't want her to feel like she shouldn't speak.

"Yeah. And when I told Roy, he was so angry. Just... furious." She shook her head, remembering the rage in which Roy had reacted with.

"Did he hurt you?" Jim asked. Pam's eyes softened.

"No. My dad was in the next room. Apparently my parents thought the same way you did. But, I mean, I understand why Roy was so mad. He deserved to be. Jim, we slept together."

His eyebrows pushed together. "Do you regret it?"

"What? No." She shook her head, trying to show him what she really meant by those words. "No. I just mean, that, I cheated on him. Cheated. I'm not that kind of girl."

"I know. I didn't think that would happen either." He looked at the rug, marveling at what their one moment of passion had caused.

"I was kind of ashamed, you know? It's normal for a woman my age to be pregnant, but to cheat on her fiancé of three years. And I'd turned you down before that. I'd walked out on you. And then you left, and... God, I was lost. And confused. But I don't regret it, Jim. Never." Her eyes were serious. They could faintly hear Carrie's voice, softly singing Elle to sleep. Pam bit her lip, wincing as she heard the baby's cry. Elle didn't fall back asleep easily.

"You shouldn't regret it. I understand. I guess I'm just in shock, you know?" She nodded. She'd pushed him into a lot in one day.

"Yeah, I know, Jim. This is weird. Is it weird?" He smiled again.

"It is indeed weird."

They were interrupted by Carrie walking in, Elle in her arms.

"She won't fall asleep. I don't know what to do," Carrie said helplessly. Pam smiled, genuinely.

"I'll sing." She took a finger and gently brushed a long eyelash from Elle's cheek. The baby made a little noise at the touch.

"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine." Jim sat back, letting the honey-voice of Pam fall upon his ears and brush across his forehead.

"You make me happy, when skies are grey." Carrie watched the two of them in awe. Too bad neither her nor Jim could sketch this moment.

"You'll never know, dear, how much I love you." Pam brought her eyes up, meeting Jim's.

"But please don't take, my sunshine away." Elle made a soft moan, before making that nice sleeping-sound that babies always make. She shifted a bit in Pam's arms, nestling in and finding a comfortable position. Pam leaned in and gave her a tiny kiss on her forehead, soft lips meeting tender baby flesh. Jim's breathing was heard from the chair he sat in.

"That is... so... amazing."

The three of them sat in silence, nothing but the sound of Elle's noises breaking the quiet. Carrie stood up.

"I'll go. You guys have fun." She walked over and gave Pam a kiss on the cheek. "Call me."

"I will," Pam answered.

They watched her walk out the door.

"So, you are close to you family?" Jim asked. Pam looked happy.

"Yeah, I am. I became closer, after I got pregnant. Carrie was there, the whole time. She doesn't have kids. Her partner is away, on a business trip."

"Her... partner?"

Pam nodded.

"Yeah. Sharon. She's really nice."

His eyebrows jumped in surprise.

"Yeah, she's a lesbian."

"Oh. I couldn't tell." Pam laughed, soft enough to keep Elle undisturbed.

"Jim, not all lesbians are, you know, super manly or anything." She laughed a little louder this time, then stopped when Elle stirred in her sleep.

"I know, Beesly, I know."

"She told me first. Seven years ago. Apparently, while I told her that I was lusting after the boy in my geography class in ninth grade, she was lusting after the new girl in her Spanish class." Pam laughed again.

"Wow," Jim said, as if he was addressing Michael.

"Yeah. Anyways, we're really close. And I've always been close to my mom. Carrie and I had to stick together, since we have two brothers." Jim laughed.

"I wish I had a brother to help me. I have two sisters. No brother." Pam giggled. Her shaking finally woke the baby back up.

"Sorry. I'll take her to her room. Just wait here." Jim but his lip again, thinking. Everything had begun to feel the same, until Elle had started crying. Their baby. Holy crap. Their baby.

She walked back in, sighing. "She's asleep. Now I can't wake her up."

He was silently thinking. Before he could stop himself, he spoke up.

"We could have made it, you and me. If we hadn't made this mistake, we could have made it." Pam's mouth opened in shock at his words.

"What in the hell- what do you mean?!" He was caught off guard by her fury.

He was about to talk before she cut him off. "No, I know what you mean. Elle was not a mistake. She wasn't, isn't, you hear me? And I'm sorry, now that I know you think there isn't hope for us." He reached up, pulling at his hair so hard his eyes almost began to tear up. God, now he'd made her cry.

"Pam, I didn't mean it like that. It just seems so strange, we have a baby."

"I've had sixteen months to wrap my head around it!"

He wanted to kill himself.

Jim wasn't sure he'd ever heard her yell like this before.

"Maybe you should have told me." Their eyes didn't meet.

"You left. I was confused. I'd been with Roy for ten years. You seriously did not expect me to just decide to leave him because of one time-"

"Is that all you think it was? One time?"

Now they were both glaring at each other, stopping short of rage. Surprising each other with anger and sadness.

Her head fell into her hands, tears making her mascara run.

He stood up to leave, picking up his coat by the door. Reaching up to the door knob.

"No," she said, looking up. "Don't go."

This time, neither of them were going to walk away from what was happening.

These scenes with Carrie are fun to write. I have a sister named Kari (spelled differently) and we're really close. She's not a lesbian, in case you're wondering. Anyways, I relate to Pam and don't really have to think when it comes to writing Carrie. Just tell me what you think, okay?

Review. I mean it. Now. Do it. Five, four, three, two, do it. Now.
