Chapter Seven

Happy Birthday, Me

*Friday, September 13th*

BEEP. BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.

I groan and roll over, my fist making firm contact with the bedside table, "..."

"Frick! That hurt like hell!" I shout, sitting up abruptly, rubbing my, now sore, hand. I glare at my phone, which continued beeping. I snatch the phone off my bedside table and shut the alarm off.

My phone. It was an old piece of crap. I kept it when I ran from home. The contract was cancelled, naturally, leaving it useless for anything other then music, pictures, to-do lists, and alarms. I'm still surprised it wasn't tracked back to me, or something of the sorts, when I ran off.

I check the time, 7:00am. I must've forgotten to cut the alarm last night.

I sigh and completely shut off my phone, sit it back on the table, then snuggle back underneath the covers to let sleep engulf me once again.

"-is? Alexis? Alexis?!"

I bolt upright, my eyes still closed, as a dark aura seemingly emits from me, "Do you want to die?" I say in a dangerously low tone.

"It seems I must have forgotten to mention - it seems Alexis' blood type is AB." I could almost hear the smirk in Kyouya's voice.

"Why didn't you tell us before we woke her?!" I hear Tamaki say.

I open my eyes slightly to see Tamaki cowering behind Kyouya. When he notices me opening my eyes, he cowers even more-so, "Mommy, don't let my daughter hurt me!"

"Who the hell are you calling your daughter?!" I yell at the blonde idiot. I then smirk at Kyouya, "Mommy?"

I hear Kyouya growl lowly as he pushes his glasses up, the dim light filtering through my windows somehow making them glare menacingly before showing his steely-grey eyes, "I wouldn't be laughing, if I was you. But, then again, I don't have a €220,000 debt like you do."

"You know, I'm really beginning to dislike your attitude." I say with a sadistic grin, then, as he's writing that down, for some reason unbeknownst to me, I realize they were in my apartment, and in my room,"What the hell are ya'll doing in my room, and how did you get into my apartment?!" I demand.

"Well, you weren't in class, so we came to see why you were gone." The twins say with shrugs.

"Okay... but that still doesn't explain how you got into my house." I reply with a sigh.

"We 'convinced' the owner of the complex to let us borrow a spare key." Kaoru says.

"So... you used your host acts on my land lady? Charming." I bury my face into my hands.

"So, why are you ditching the club and nobrschool/nobr." Tamaki asks.

"I just have something to... take care of. So, will you kindly get the hell out of my room? Is it not enough for you to wake me up at," I look at my nobrwall clock/nobr, "11:45? Shouldn't you be at the club? Nevermind. Just, forget I asked that." I pinch the bridge of my nose as Kyouya says something, "Huh? Wha? Can you repeat what you said?"

"I said, 'Why can't I find records of you before the age of 8-years-old?" Kyouya sighs.

"Um..." I begin, "I don't know. Why are you stalking me?" I reply coolly.

"She acts a bit like Kyouya, sometimes." I hear Hikaru whisper to Kaoru.

Kyouya and I both send him cold and dirty glares, "I'm nothing like him." I say at the same time Kyouya says, "She is nothing like me." We glare at each other at the realization we had basically just said the same thing. The twins snicker as we glare at each other.

"So, what is it you have to take care of? Maybe we can help?" Tamaki cuts into Kyouya and I's intense glaring contest.

"It's nothing you need to worry yourself with. I don't want you bugging me today." I reply.

"If I remember correctly - today is your birthday." Kyouya smirks.

"Okay, now I flat-out despise you." I glare at him, his eyes basically say, 'Revenge is sweet.'

"It's your birthday, Aly-Chan?" Honey speaks up for the first time.

"Yea... and who are you calling Aly-Chan?!" I yell. I stand up and hear somebody in the apartment below me hit my floor with something and then shout.

"HEY! Right back at ya, buddy!" I stomp my foot against the floor.

"What kind of cake are you gonna have?" Honey asks, bouncing around at just the mere thought of cake or sweets in general.

"Well - I'm not getting one." shrug it off as I turn to my desk and pick up a pen.

"What? No cake?" Honey stops bouncing, completely deflating, and stares at me with large, teary eyes, "Do you not like cake, Aly-Chan?"

"Er.. well.. no. Truth be told - I love cake and sweets. I just can't afford one. I have to have money for bills, groceries, and bus-fare. The only reason I could get a uniform is because I... convinced Mr. Suoh." I say, not looking at the guys as I write something on the palm of my hand.

"Nonsense!: Tamaki declares suddenly, "My daughter needs a cake on her birthday!"

"Haha - no. Also; stop calling me your daughter. If I needed parents to survive, I would've stayed with 'em. But I didn't, so shush." I sigh and rub my temples, sitting the pen back on my desk.

I hear somebody clear their throat after a silence, and I look over my shoulder. Hikaru had his gaze fixed firmly on the ground as he begins talking, "Look, about yesterday... I'm sorry about-"

"Nuh-uh, no apologizing." I say, causing everybody to look at me in surprise, "I don't believe in apologies. An 'I'm sorry' won't change the past; whether it be a few minutes, weeks, months, or years. What happened yesterday is in the past. I'm not upset, and you have no reason to apologize."

I hear whispering between Honey, Tamaki, Hikaru, and Kaoru as they turn their backs on me and huddle-up, "We'll be leaving, now. We need to attend some Host Club business. We will allow you today off from club duty." Tamaki states formally - more-so then needed.

I look back at my desk without any reply. The club gets the hint, and silently files out of my room. After a moment, I hear the door to my apartment close as they leave.

My shoulders slump as I let out a breath I hadn't even known I was holding. I pad, barefoot, over to my closet and pull out some clothes. I walk into the bathroom and grab a hairband. I pull as much hair as I could up into a tight pony-tail, then grab some scissors. I begin neatly cutting off the pulled-up hair until the hairband falls out, from a lack of hair to hold, and there's a black and blue pool of hair covering the sink, counter, and the floor around my feet. I even out my hair before sitting my scissors down and running a hand through it, fluffing it up a bit.

I slip out of my pajamas and into my clothes I had picked out. I pull a sleeveless hoodie over my arms, then walk back into my room. I pull on a pair of socks and shoes, grab my cellphone and the drawing of my family, and then walk out of my room.

I walk into the kitchen and grab a basket sitting on the counter, before exiting my apartment, making sure to close and lock the door behind me.

I walk down the open hallway and down the stairs, my blue and black running shoes scuffling against the concrete.

~~~Time Skip~~~
I've still gotta find out what those guys did with my binder. I think as I slip my drawing into the plastic sleeve I had just bought. I lay it gently in the basket, Where's that shortcut...? I wonder, looking around. I could feel a pair of eyes searing into the back of my head, but brush it aside when I see the alleyway shortcut I would be taking.
I turn down the all, and halfway through it, I was stopped by the flat of a blade pressed against my throat from behind.
"Look, pretty boy," A vaguely familiar voice says, "Don't move and give me everything you have on you, and I won't hurt you."
"Pretty boy, eh?" I smirk, realizing who the owner of the voice was, "Look, I've been trained in weaponry and martial arts since I could comprehend the lessons; so just walk away." I say, wanting to play with the person a little longer before allowing them to know who I was.
I hear the person laugh, "Oh? Well so have I; and I'm pretty sure mine was better and tougher then yours ever was or will be."
"Pssh." I chuckle, "You still need to work on your stance, Jack." As I finish my sentence, I twirl around, grasping and twisting the assailant's arm, to the point where they drop their knife, and snatch the knife, before pressing it against their throat.
"Wait-! What do you mean 'still'? And how do you know my name?" They say before completely registering the color of my eyes and hair, "A-Alex?" They stutter.
I pull the knife away from Jack's throat and hand it to her while saying, with a cheeky smile, "That's my name - don't wear it out!"
"Oh my God!" The silver-haired girl gets out bfore knocking me over in a bear hug, "Alex! Alex! Alex! Alex! Alex! Alex!" She begins repeating over and over.
"Okay... I think you're starting to wear it out, Jackie." I say bluntly.
"Where have you been?!" I look at her face to see tears beginning to form on the edges of her dull, blue eyes.
"No! No, do not start crying on me, Jacklynn Kimiko!" I demand.
Jack allows one tear to slip down her face before wiping fry her eyes, "Sorry." She says, standing and helping me to my feet, "Where've you been? You've been missing for over five years!"
I sigh, "Just come with me. I'll explain it to you." She nods and I lead her to the nearest park where we proceed to sit down - underneath a tree - and I begin explaining.
***Time Skip***
"You're going WHERE?!" Jack yells; eyes wide in utter astonishment.
"Ouran Academy." I say, rubbing my, now ringing, ear, "And shush."
"And you're in what?!" She asks in a lower tone, throwing her hands up in the air.
I sigh, "The Ouran Academy Host Club."
"So let me get this straight - you go to an elite, private academy high school - that you cannot get in unless your family is extremely wealthy or you're on a scholarship - and you're in a club with the sons of six of the most renowned and wealthy families in all of Japan?" She repeats what I said as a check that she'd heard me correctly.
I nod silently, and see in her eyes that her mind had wandered off in thought before she exclaims, "Oh! I get it, now! You're getting close to them so you can pursue the head family's goal and - mmph!"
I quickly stop her by slamming my palm over her mouth as I hear the familiar call of the moron, Tamaki? I think, bewildered, "Shush!" I commend Jack before looking behind me to see the entire Host Club strolling towards Jack and I with a large box among them.
Crap! What are they doing here?! I think as I begin to speak, "Hey, what are ya'll doing here? Shouldn't you all be at club activi-?
OW! What the hell did ya bite me for?!" I turn on Jack.
"You're hand was still on my mouth, and I was hungry." She shrugs, her face showing no emotion now that the Hosts were here.
"So you decided to bite me?!"
"Yep." Jack reaches into my basket and fishes out a sandwich, before unwrapping the plastic-wrap and taking a bite, "Yummy." She states, emotionless.
"And who is this beautiful princess?" Tamaki flirts, bending down and grasping Jack's chin lightly between his index-finger and thumb before gently brushing some crumbs from her lips.
Jack blinks, doing nothing, then suddenly punches the idiot 'king', sending him sprawling back on the ground.
"That, my dear Tamaki, was another bloody-nose. Courtesy of my friend, Jacklynn." I say, snatching the rest of the sandwich from Jack as the twins burst out laughing. Tamaki retreats to a new Emo Bush as I take a bite of the sandwich.
"It's Jack." Jack states, snatching the sandwich back.
"Jackie." I return, grabbing at the sandwich again, but she smacks me in the forehead and I let go.
"Jack." She growls.
"Fine - Jack." I say in a sing-song voice, before leaning forward and taking a large bite from her sandwich - which still resided in her hand.
"My sandwich!" Jack gasps. She glares at me as I smirk.
"Oh, lighten up. There's plenty more in the basket; you know that I like to eat." I say before turning towards Tamaki; who was still growing mushrooms under his Emo Bush, "Stop growing mushrooms and get over here so you can tell me why you're here." I say as Jack silently grabs another sandwich and begins nibbling on it protectively; as if I was going to steal this one, too.
"You seem a lot more cheerful," Hikaru begins as Tamaki starts crawling from the bush.
"Now that your friend is here." Kaoru finishes as Tamaki finally makes his way over.
"We are here because we brought something my daughter must have! A cake!" Takashi hands Tamaki the, rather large, box.
"Whad I say? I don't want anybody spending mon- is that chocolate?" I say as Tamaki opens the box to reveal a large, chocolate cake with chocolate icing. It had whipped-cream peaks dotting the top edges of the cat, and a large, blue rose iced on with food-colored cream-cheese icing, smack dab in the middle, "Oh... my... God." My mouth begins to water at just the mere sight of the cake.
"Lets dig in!" Tamaki declares as everyone gets seated on the ground in a circle.
