A/N: I will be in the least, trying to post one chapter every week. It has occurred to me how little time I have in my life, and some of the things I strive to do just won't fit unless I put more back into it. Stay in the loop.
Now that Finn looked at it again, the forest seemed very grey and lifeless. No leaves grew, no animals were around. There was hardly any grass growing, just small patches on the ground that looked like it hadn't been watered in months.
When Finn was last here, he was chasing down Blade. Now, he didn't know why he was here. Finn wandered about the forest, crushing the dry patches of grass as he did. Finn looked up at the sky, or at least to say the least. It was a like a large grey cloud was hanging over Finn. From it, what looked like snow dropped from the cloud.
Finn reached out to touch one of the falling snow flakes. It landed in his palm and he rubbed it between his fingers. It wasn't snow, it was warm and felt different. Finn remembered the feeling.
"Ash?" Finn had been through enough fires to know what it felt like.
Out of nowhere a bright light from across the forest blinded Finn. Finn had to squint to still manage to even glance at the light. As the light died down, Finn could see a large green and yellow cloud rising up from the ground. Finn had never seen anything like it. But as Finn stared at it, a loud rumbling from the cloud's direction started. A wave of dust came sweeping across the forest, levelling anything in its wake.
Finn tried to outrun the cloud of dust, but eventually it caught up to him. It swept over him like a tidal wave, not like he had ever felt what that felt like. Finn felt like he was spinning over and over again. It got harder for him to breath, slowly, he started losing consciousness and then.
Nothing.
Finn's eyes were closed through most of the experience. When he opened them next, he was no longer in the forest. He was now in a… He wasn't sure where he was. It was dark around him. Finn had his hands out in front of him as he walked about in circles, trying to find anything.
"Where am I?" He asked the darkness, but it did not talk back.
Instead a harsh laughter coursed through the darkness. It was a sinister laugh that told Finn he was in a trap.
"You are walking in circles Finn." Said the voice. Finn recognised it as a voice he had heard before.
Blade.
"You can't see it yet. They're lying to you." It told him.
"Come out here, so I can kick your butt." Finn shouted back.
"You're not listening Finn." Said Blade's ominous voice calmly, "They're not telling you everything."
"I don't listen to demons." Finn said angrily as he ran about trying to find the source of the voice.
"A demon? Is that what they tell you I am?"
"Yeah, and I'm gonna kick your butt!" Finn was in a fighting stance as he ran about trying to locate the source of the voice. It echoed through the emptiness, but Finn could tell that he was getting closer.
Blade's voice chuckled this time, "And you believe them?"
Finn started slowing his frantic running to a walk, "Uh, well."
"Ah, so you don't believe them."
Finn screamed out loud, "I don't need to explain myself to you."
"Tell me, Finn." The voice was getting closer now. "Why exactly are you doing this?"
"You attacked the Candy Kingdom." Finn began his walk again. "I'm going to bring you to justice."
"Oh, but you don't understand. This was all for the greater cause."
"Only a demon would see killing innocent people as a greater cause." Finn mumbled under his breath.
"You still don't see, Finn. You're blind Finn, blind as a bat in the sunlight."
"I can still see well enough to kick your butt." Finn stopped and cupped his hands around his mouth, "Now come out here so I can beat that mask of your ugly face!" Finn challenged.
At that moment, Finn heard footsteps from behind him. Finn instinctively turned around. He saw Blade standing a few feet from him. "In time Finn, in time." He said as he stood there motionless.
Finn started running towards him with the fiercest battle cry he could muster. He leaped up into the air and raised his foot to Blade's head. But as he landed the blow, he black out.
Finn was tangled up in the blanket that came with the bed he was sleeping on. Finn took his time to realise he was dreaming. He slowed down his breathing and untangled himself from the blanket. Finn wasn't sure how loud he was speaking when he was asleep, but however loud he was, Jake was still asleep. Jake's snoring helped comfort Finn that he was safe.
But how safe?
It felt to Finn more than just a dream. Like Blade was actually in his head, talking to him. 'Blade's probably miles away. He doesn't know where I am.' But as Finn was thinking that, he heard a single knock on his door.
It was a sharp knock in the centre of the door. Finn was very wary when he approached the door. He reached for his sword by his bed and got ready for anything.
Time seemed to go slower as he approached the door. What took seconds, Finn felt like it took him hours to merely get close enough to reach for the doorknob.
Finn placed his ear to the door to listen for movement, or any sound whatsoever.
Nothing.
Finn reached for the wooden doorknob and slowly turned it, trying not to make any noise while he did it. A small creak was made when he finally turned the knob enough to push the door open. Finn was sweating with anxiety and fear as he pushed the door open. Finn opened a crack large enough for him to look out of. Finn didn't see anything but the dimly lit hallways. Judging by the way there were no people walking about the hallways, Finn guessed that it was night time. Then again, Finn could never tell what time it was underground.
Finn slipped out the door and looked about for anyone. There wasn't a single person in the hallways. Finn was alone in the low lighted hallways, with no sound but the sound of the torches and candles flickering, but it wasn't until Finn turned around did he notice the note.
Finn was about to return to his room when he saw something that sent a chill down his spine. A black knife was stuck to the door, stabbed into the door with it was a piece of paper. Finn removed the knife with some difficulty, and picked up the letter as it fell to the floor. He unravelled it and on it was scribbled letters made to form words. It read 'You Will See.' Below the letters were numbers, '-15, 56 -09' Finn didn't pay attention to the numbers, he was too engrossed in the cryptic messages above it. What did they mean? See what? But above all, who put it there? And with the obvious answer came a dark realisation.
Finn looked up from the paper and looked around the three-way interconnecting hallways. If Blade left the letter here, it means he can get into the Secret Base, and knows where he is.
Finn slowly backed up into his room and closed the door shut. Finn thought who he should discuss his fears with. He wanted to tell the Master, but something told him it would only bring trouble for him and Jake. It wouldn't be easy telling The Master that a demon was coming to him in his sleep and leaving him notes. He wanted to tell Ariel, but right now he felt that the only person he could tell was Jake, and even so, he was reluctant to tell Jake.
Finn opened the piece of paper again and stared into the words, like if he stared into them enough, they would tell him what they meant. Finn clambered back onto his bed, but Finn felt he wouldn't get much sleep, with what little time he had left. It was all just a matter of time.
But what happens after that?
