Chapter 9

Rock looked around curiously like the little child she was, surprised at how busy it was. Though no colors were seen other than those of the people walking and selling, the shops, and the items for sell; the buildings were all grey and colorless like the dirt ground and sky.

"This place wasn't always like this." Gin said to Rock, grabbing her attention as they walked on. "A long time ago, before the Order existed; the Colors were separate and lived by their chosen color. They each would wage war against different Colors, trying to obtain land for themselves and strengthen their people. Though this lasted for eons, some of the Colors didn't survive… do you see where I'm going with this?" Gin asked. Rock shook her head. "We are standing on the remainders of the Brown's." Gin said, making Rock look around.

"Though the Browns were great fighters, fearless and also smart, they didn't stand up to the brute and unstoppable force of the Purples. They were wiped out in a single night since Purple Members can withstand more pain and carry heavier firepower with them, that and they wear armor all the time." Gin said. "Shouldn't the Purple District then rule this place?" Rock asked. "Well…" Gin started, before he noticed that people were staring at them with intent eyes. "Perhaps another time…" Gin said as they got to their first stop on their list of to-do, the weapon store.

They walked inside to see a verity of weapons from each Color District. Though the place had a Blue tint on the inside, showing that it belonged to a Blue Member. Gin walked to the counter, leaned against it, and pulled out a cigarette before pulling out a zippo and lit the cigarette while it was in his mouth. He closed the zippo with a flick of his wrist and placed it back in his suit jacket before taking the cigarette out and breathed out a puff of smoke.

"Can I help you?" A voice behind Gin asked. Gin turned around to meet an old man with a skull on top of his head, smoking from some sort of decorated pipe with a skull's open mouth at the end. "Yeah, do you have any wooden swords left?" Gin asked as rested his arms on the counter. "We have a couple of them, though what good will those do you? They'll only make you work up a sweat if you're trying to kill something with them." The old man replied. "They're not for me; they're for the kid here." Gin said, looking at Rock.

The old man looked over the counter, and saw Rock looking around the entire shop, touching little things on the shelves, like bullets. "Shit, she's gotta be my height if not a little taller." The old man said, looking back at Gin. "But unlike you, she doesn't have any experience on her in battle, you war veteran." Gin said with a smirk. "Hey, this small body use to taller; I was your height in the middle of the war; though in all of my years… I swear I've seen her before…" The old man said in thought. "Well I didn't recognize her when I first saw her and you know how many faces I can get to know in an hour." Gin replied.

"True… so what are you going to do with her? Train her?" The old man asked. "Well she's been in my care for a week now and I think it's about time that she learns how to fight. And who better than the master of killing himself?" Gin said placing a thumb against his chest. "I won't get in your business with what you want to do, but know that bonds can be formed and incidents can happen." The old man said before jumping off his stool chair and started waddling towards the back room.

Gin looked at Rock before flicking his cigarette and then taking a breath in from it. "Gramps is right; Rock is about as tall as him, though Rock isn't even CLOSE to his age. Although Rock does have a rather strong vocabulary for someone her age, wonder who her parents were…" Gin thought as he watched Rock walk around and try to grab things out of her reach. "Kawaī…" Gin thought with a small chuckle before looking back over the counter.

"Here they are…" The old man said, getting back on his stool before setting two wooden swords on the counter. "Anything else?" He asked. "I need you to take a look at this sniper rifle, the safety is jammed and it sometimes fires off with the slightest movement to it." Gin said, summoning the same sniper rifle from before in silver flames before placing it on the counter.

The old man looked over the rifle, easily lifting the huge rifle as he examined it. "I'll have to take it apart and look over it that way. I'm thinking about a week at most." The old man said, setting the rifle down. "If you can get it fix, that's all I care about." Gin said. "So will that be all?" He asked. "For now, see you next week." Gin said before stepping outside while Rock stayed behind a little.

"That girl…" The old man thought, watching Rock leave to catch up with Gin. "I KNOW I've seen her before, but where?"

"Let's see…" Gin thought as he looked down at a piece of paper with a bunch of grocery items written down. Before he managed to look up again, he accidently bumped into someone, accidently making them drop some of the stuff they were carrying. "Sorry let me he- Midori?" Gin asked, seeing the Green member of the CTF in a dark-greenish robe. "Gin?" She said looking up at him before trying to pick up some stuff and put them in a hand held green basket. "Why are you here in the Grey District?" Midori asked. "Do you think I could just walk inside any Color Division I would like and buy stuff their without everyone wanting to kill me?" Gin asked. "Good point…" She replied. "I'm assuming that you're here since everything can be found here." He said with a smirk as her own team member knew a thing or two about shopping.

"Mama… can we go?" A young Green Member girl asked Midori, while pulling on her robe from behind her. "Who's that?" Gin asked looking around Midori, only for the little girl to move to the other side of her to stay hidden. "Oh that's my daughter, Dead Master." She replied, pushing the young Dead Master forward. "Go on and say hi." She said to her daughter. "H-hi…" Dead-chan said very shy like before running behind Midori. "And who is that behind you?" Midori asked, looking around Gin to see Rock-chan. "Oh, well it's the girl we found a week ago." Gin replied. "You brought her here?!" Midori asked in a strained voice. "Well you sound calm, what's the problem with that?"

"Everything! The people that live here will kill her if she is left alone for even the slightest second." Midori said. "She has me to protect her, that's a good enough answer." Gin answered. "Also, what will happen to Rock? You guys did say that you would find her a place to stay till she grows up, have you got anything yet?" He asked. "Currently, we don't have anywhere she could stay. So she'll have to stay with you for a little while longer with how busy everything is." Midori answered. "How long?" Gin asked "About a month or two at best." Midori answered. "If it can't be helped, I'll deal with it." Gin said before he started walking forward and past Midori.

"Asshole, doesn't even…" Midori stopped what she was saying when she looked in her hand basket to see that everything was back in it and none of the stuff was on the ground. "That man is scary…" Dead-chan said looking at Gin as he walked away. "Honey, we don't stare." Midori said as she held her little daughters hand and started walking. "Ok…" Dead-chan said, as she was led by her mother.

After Gin and Rock went shopping, they returned home to rest a little bit before doing the next thing on the agenda for the day.

"Hey Rock, are you in there?" Gin asked, knocking on her bedroom door. "…" "Hey Rock, we got things to do so come on out." Gin said, knocking on the door one last time before he stopped and waited for an answer. Though he gently tried to slide it open, only to feel it not move with him as if it was blocked.

MERAAA!

Gin kicked down the door, knowing that was his cat screaming and that something was up. As soon as the door was out of the way, he saw members of several Colors trying to stuff Rock into a bag, while one of them was fighting off a cat that was scratching off his face like crazy. Gin started to run, but his foot hit something like a trip wire and before he knew it, his arms were cut off by two swinging pendulums.

"Traps?!" Gin thought as he fell to his knees from the sudden lack of weight and body shifting for running. "I'm surprised that you didn't find out sooner, we rigged the entrance to do that just in case you came for a visit…" The only Red said, walking till he was in front of Gin. "Tch, you idiots…" Gin said with a smile. "What? How are we the idiots?" The Red asked. "Did you know that a wolf's head can bite someone without its body?" Gin asked, making the Red looked confused.

But before anything else happened, Gin's arms came to live and pushed themselves off the floor and grabbed onto the Red's neck before they started strangling him. "How the hell did he do that?!" An Orange member asked. "I don't know but he doesn't have any arms to defend himself with!" A Yellow said before charging at Gin with a rapier.

Gin spun out of the way and behind her as she did a thrust forward and missed. Before his opponent could react, Gin wrapped his foot around his opponents and pulled back, before shifting his weight onto her, making her fall forward. As soon as they fell, Gin bit into his opponent's neck until he drew blood, then he bit down even harder till his enemy stopped moving. Gin got up and kicked the rapier on the ground up into the air before catching it with his teeth.

Gin waited for his next opponent, which was the one holding the bag to try and fit rock in and went defensive as he dodged and blocked attacks with the rapier in his mouth, sometimes kicking his opponent in the stomach to get some distance. A faint crack was heard, and the guy Gin's arms were strangling dropped to the floor. His arms then jumped and bounced around the room before they hit Gin's open wounds. Surprisingly, they healed back in place and Gin had his arms back.

He punched his opponent in the stomach before grabbing him by his garments and threw him out the open window in the room. "That must have been where they got in…" Gin thought as he looked at the last enemy who was struggling to put Rock in the bag. "Can I help you…?" Gin asked, stepping closer to them. "Eh?" The guy trying to fit Rock in said, finally looking up to see Gin standing there, towering over him. "Oh I was… um…" The man started, trying to think of something. "About to die." Gin answered for him. "Yes, I was about to di-… NO WAIT!" The guy said before Gin grabbed him by the head and snapped his neck with one hand before tossing him to the side.

He closed his eyes and sighed before feeling something cling to his left leg. He looked down and saw Rock holding onto his leg tightly. "Hey, it's ok Rock, they're all dead…" Gin said, only to feel Rock hold on tighter. "… I suppose I can let you sleep in my room if you feel so worried…" Gin said before he felt Rock gently start to let go of his leg. "Now, how about we start some of your training, that way you won't be so helpless in a fight." He said, once Rock let go of his leg.

Gin walked out of the room, removing the trap as he passed by without stopping, practically made a hole in the roof as the pendulums were bolted to the roof. Though Rock stayed and watch the REAL last enemy still get his face scratched out by Gin's cat… until he fell out of Rock's window which was on the fourth floor… with the cat still glued onto their face. She then left the room and followed Gin to the training grounds on the ground floor.
