Chapter 9: Halloween Troll!
I smirk watching the look on Malfoy's face the next morning when he saw Harry and Ron. I feel Hermione grab my arm as I was about to hit him but she just pulled me away. "Don't. You'll get us in trouble. Fighting is forbidden at Hogwarts." I pouted as she dragged me to our seat.
"Why the long face cutie?" I scrunch my eyebrows confused staring up at either Fred or George. I can't tell the difference right now. "Uh…" they only sniggered at my perplexed look. "Trying to change it up a bit! So 'Cutie' isn't good hmm how about bookworm?" I shake my head no "No way. That sounds mean." I scold crossing my arms over my chest.
"Alright how about Izzie!" I shake my head "Why can't I just be called Lizzy?" I ask confused as they sat next to me. "Because everyone calls you Lizzy we want our own personal nickname for you." I groan and slam my head into the table "Now where were we? Ah yes! How about Lily? That sounds nice right Fred?"
I look at my lap "That was my mom's name…" Fred wrapped his arm around my frame and pulled me into a hug. It was strange he's always hugging me or I am to him. I mean the twins were well amazingly cute! But I couldn't be getting a crush on them! No! They were my friends! Ron's brothers!
"Okay no Lily, how about Bassy! It's cute and you are sassy so yes!" George said smirking high fiving his brother "Alright then?" we were enjoying a nice breakfast as I was reading over my Alchemy book I was on Chapter five talking about the proper transmutation circles for a different person.
'The circle is very important part of alchemy. There are many different transmutation circles out in the world. Making your own circle is crucial. To become a great Alchemist you must create your own and own up to it. After creating your own circle you must practice till you are able to complete step one through five…' just before I was able to read the steps Fred stole my book looking it over. "Fred!"
He kept my book out of my way as I tried to get it "Why do you always read a book about Alchemy. There are so many magical creatures or magical spells you could learn to do but you stick and choose the muggles magic. With their science?"
I shrug my shoulders and smile "I like it. It's really interesting to me is all." They roll their eyes "Well lets see…what else do you like?" I think about it for a second. "I like my books. Ummm animals! I like animals!" Speaking of animals I hoped I could see Hagrid and play with Fang again and then maybe talk to him about how in the world he got that three headed dog!
"If you like animals then you'll Care of Magical Creature's class, that's a good class." I smile brightly "They have that here!" George nodded and draped his left arm around my shoulders "You'll take it in third year." I smile brightly and nodded my head.
Potions class was going by great! I had successfully mastered the last potion the 'Forgetfulness Potion' it well basically as it is called gives the person who takes it an unknown degree of memory loss. Professor Snape said I had a knack for potions! Yes he was mean and rough with a few students…all of them. I respected my teacher because well…he was nice when you were on his good side.
Right now we were taking notes on the Herbicide Potion, he was talking very fast and it was hard to get everything down the entire time. "Erm Professor…" I hear Peter Stanley "No I will not slow down! Ten points from Gryffindor." He snapped glaring down at the small boy for interrupting his lecture.
I look down at my paper and try to remember what he said. Maybe I'll get Hermione to let me see her notes since she has a photographic memory. The bell rang and a few people sighed with relief "For homework you all will be doing exercises 26 through 42." I bite my lip and look over my notes before packing up my stuff "Um Professor… What was it you said was most important about the Horklump Juice? I don't think I have that in my notes."
He stared down at me with that cold demeanor "Only that it is used in a series of healing potions." He snapped down at me. "Thank you Professor." I smile before going back to grab my stuff "Did you know your mother was quite talented with her potions as well." I look up and shake my head "She was?" I ask shocked.
Well anything about my parents made me feel shocked. "Yes, in fact she was one of the best in our class." I smile softly "You two were in the same class? What was my mom like? Aunt Petunia always avoids my questions when it comes to my parents." He was sitting as his desk looking over his papers.
Something was different now. His eyes had a bit of joy in them…just a bit. Everything else in his eyes was gloom. "Your mother, she was just a dear to those around her, she could light up a room." I smile sitting at my desk wanting to know more.
"She was Head Girl her final year here." A small smile graced his lips "It's just a shame." I nodded looking down at my hands "Well…Don't you have classes?" I jumped and grab my stuff "No but I better get started on that homework you assigned! Sorry Professor and thanks!" I smile and run out of the classroom and up the stairs to the dormitories skidding to a halt in front of the stairs that was moving up.
I panted staring down at the other stairs "That would have been a nasty spill." I mutter to myself "Why were you running?" I jumped and stare at the boy next to me. He had light brown hair with green eyes. He stood taller than me holding onto his books as we waited for the stairs to return. "Oh I just left Professor Snapes class." He chuckled "Oh that makes sense he isn't the type to be around for too long." I shrugged "Eh he isn't that bad." This boy gave me a bewildered look "Quel étrange garçon ..." I mutter finally the steps appear.
"Is that French?" I glance over at him again "Yes." He smiled "That's really neat! It's always interesting to learn another language." I nodded my head. "Oh right! Forgot to introduce myself! I'm Michael Biggs. You don't have to introduce yourself to me you're Elizabeth Potter!" I nodded my head. This guy…he seemed really weird.
"I'm a second year; this is really nifty to meet you. I've heard so much about what you and your brother." I nodded my head yet again walked up the steps and to the Fat Lady portrait "Bye Elizabeth it was nice meeting you!" He ran off in the other direction I blink a few times. Like I said before what a strange boy.
Right when I walked into the dorm room I went right to work. I wanted to at least pass my next test. Professor Snape was known for his surprise testing which caused most of the class to fail. I've been passing with O's but I think that's only because I've studied that book nonstop since I got it. I can't wait to learn newer potions.
The next day in the great hall as the mail was being delivered everyone's attention was caught by a long, thin package carried by six large screeching owls. The owls had dropped the package right in front of Harry. They had barely even fluttered away when another one dropped a letter on top of the parcel.
I lean over Harry's right shoulder reading the letter with him. He usually didn't mind.
'Do not open the parcel at the table. It contains your new Nimbus Two Thousand, but I don't want everybody knowing you've got broomstick or they'll all want one. Oliver Wood will meet you tonight on the Quidditch field at seven o'clock for your first training session.
Professor McGonagall'
I glance down at the parcel and softly he hands the note to Ron to read. "Be back in a bit." I nodded and watch them run off to open the parcel. I roll my eyes and continue to eat my breakfast with Hermione reading Chapter 17 in my book.
"They are such idiots! First years aren't a loud to have a broomstick. Furthermore he shouldn't have gotten it when he broke the rules." Hermione snapped I nodded paying half attention to her "I mean honestly he should have been expelled." I glance up from my book "Come on Hermione, sure Harry broke the rule but it was for Neville. Our Friend." I watch her huff out annoyed before getting up "I'm going to have a word with them."
I sighed decided to finish the chapter later as I was quick to follow her through the halls past Malfoy and his crew and to the dormitories. She was going to scold them when Ron just made her want to rip her hair out. I look at the two and figured they would make a pretty cute couple in the far future that is if she doesn't kill him.
Hermione marched away with her nose in the air. I look over at the broom covered in parcel Harry held in his hands. "Cool broom?" Ron shook his head still amazed gaining his attention to the broom once more. "It's not just a broom! It's a Nimbus Two Thousand! Fastest broom of the century." I smile "Awesome! Harry good look at practice tonight." he smiled brightly and nodded as I ran to catch up with my friend.
The day went by fast; I got Hermione to focus on something besides the boys. Transfiguration I had said that she couldn't preform the next task in our class. It was to conjure fire, she quickly proved me wrong by starting said fire into the fire place.
"I stand corrected you are clearly the better witch." I flip through a few pages as she smiled "Thanks Lizzy, I'm still kind of mad." I nodded "I know, Harry and Ron have almost gotten us into a lot of trouble the other night. And I still want to hex Malfoy into next week because of it!" she nodded and sat beside me.
"We are not a loud to fight on school properties." I nodded thinking a bit "If you can find a spot outside of school grounds then I'll gladly fight him there." She rolls her eyes at before going to do her own homework.
I finished my homework hours ago and had decided to read in one of the windows in the common room. "Bassy!" I jumped slightly hearing Fred and George yell that stupid new nickname for me. "Hi Tweedle dee and Tweedle dum." They seemed confused scrunching their brows together it was kind of cute. "Why did you call us that?" I smirked closing my book crossing my arms. "Because since you two have so kindly given me my new nickname I decided to give the two of you one! Why don't you like it?" I stuck my bottom lip out and made my voice to sound sad.
My lip quivered slightly as fresh tears welled up in my eyes. "We love it!" I smile brightly "Yay!" they laugh nervously "Alright lets just stick to your real name for the time being hmm?" Fred suggested scratching the back of his neck "That's good with me!" George said all too quickly making me smile and suppress my laugh. I really hated nicknames. I was fine with Lizzy or Elizabeth that's it.
"Want to pull a prank with us? Professor Snape has been unusually 'nice' about something." I laugh slightly "What do you mean nice? Professor Snape isn't acting nice… is he? Wait I thought he was nice with that sneer on his face whenever someone interrupted him in class or when you looked at him." Fred clapped me on my right shoulder laughing with George "You've been hiding those jokes from us why?!" I smile up at the twins a light shade of red covered my cheeks.
"Got anymore?" I shrugged "Not really…Well unless we're talking about my fat cousin then I have tons!" Fred landed on the other side of the window wrapping his long fingers around my ankles, gripping them slightly before pulling my bent knee's straight across his lap.
It was weird at first as I tried to get comfortable. I usually did this with Harry when we were alone and I was bored and reading one of my books. "Well lets hear some then." I put my book to my side and brought my left hand up to my chin thinking over the many possible insults I could say about my fat cousin.
"Hmmm let's see… Well to start off Dudley he is extremely fat basically four times bigger than Harry and five times bigger than me. Blue eyes and thick blond hair, he looks like a full grown pig well maybe a hog that's wearing a stupid wig." That got a few chuckles I was glad. I wasn't really a funny person I was kind of boring. Having lived in the Durley's house I had learned early on not to speak out against them or else I could get seriously hurt.
For instance when I was in preschool one of our lessons was just draw a picture of our families. Me and Harry…we sat together not really having friends. We were sharing some broken crowns as we were scribbling down who our family was. There were three blonds, one black haired boy, and a red haired girl. I can't remember what happened the rest of the day but I remember when I got home I gave it to Aunt Petunia. She wasn't happy at all! She had smacked me upside the head and shoved me into the cupboard after saying I was a disgrace.
I learned that day on that Harry was the only family I had. But I usually kept my mouth shut or else I would be in even more trouble. Here it's like a blessing. I can say what I like, I can eat a good meal, and I have friends! My teachers like me, and I liked school!
"Lizzy you in there? Hello?" I felt George knock on my head a few times making me laugh and shake my head "Sorry spaced out there for a second." They laughed "It's alright." There was an awkward silence as I felt a hand pat my ankle. I blush a bright red hiding behind my hair.
I wonder why Fred's being so touchy with me. I've only known him for a month and I seem well closer to those twins, yet the fact that Fred still had his hand on my ankle…agh why am I thinking too much into this? We're just friends. That's it. Besides even if I did like one of them I couldn't because they were Ron's older brothers!
"So what's another thing about your cousin you like to joke about?" I scratch my head a bit brushing my bangs out of my eyes "Well the fat loaf is like a little princess always getting exactly what he wants." I giggle slightly "Dresses like one too sometimes." That got a laugh "Poor little Dinky Duddydums got upset when Harry and I crashed his birthday trip to the zoo." George snorted from where he was leaning on the wall. "Dinky Duddydums? Ha!" I giggle "That's what Aunt Petunia calls him sometimes."
They laughed it was really nice hearing them laugh "You two ready for Supper?" I nodded swinging my legs off the ledge and hopping to my feet. George towered over me standing tall Fred jumped up and held his hands behind his head as we walk to the Great Hall.
I smile up at the twins and skid in my seat besides Harry who was shoveling food in his mouth excited for tonight. "Whoa there slow down Harry, Dudley's not going to steal our food this time." He laughed at me "Sorry I know but I'm just really excited for tonight." I giggle and smile "I know you are but you'll choke if you don't slow down." He sighed and slowed down just a tad and was done before I got finished half my supper.
I felt a quick peck on the cheek and he was out of the great hall in basically a walking sprint if that made any sense. "Looks like someone's excited." I laughed and nodded my head; some of my red hair would fall into my green eyes. "Yeah, I haven't seen him this excited in years."
It happened three times a week. I was worried he wouldn't have enough time for his homework but he proved me wrong. We've been at Hogwarts a total of two months and it felt as if I was home. I had friends, my classes were amazing, and the food was delicious. Transfiguration had gotten a tad bit harder yet it was all the same amazing. Professor Flitwick was a nice teacher. He cared for his students and would help us out if we needed it. We finally mastered the basics and were learning actual spells.
It was Halloween today and I woke to the smell of pumpkin making its way through the corridors. I felt my mouth water with anticipation. "Come on Lizzy it's time for charms." I quickly got out of bed and got dressed as fast as I could and walked with her to Charms class. My stomach growled ever so slightly as we walked inside.
"You should have woken up earlier like me." I nodded and stifle a yawn "I know but I was so tired I just wanted a few extra minutes sleep." I place my books on my desk and with a sigh sat down feeling sleep try to overtake me again. I force my eyes to stay awake "Hey didn't see you at breakfast today." I gave my brother a sleepy smile "Needed to catch a few more Z's." he laughed and pulled out a biscuit "Thought you might want something in your stomach." I literally flung my arms around Harry's neck hugging him tightly.
"I love you!" He only laughed with Ron and a few other guys in our class. I didn't really care. Hermione huffed and looked away. She was still mad at them. I could never be mad at Harry as bad as that is. I pull away and quickly eat the biscuit and watch as Professor Flitwick enters the room. We were finally going to be learning some charms! He went around our tables and placed a feather on each of our desks. "Now, don't forget that nice wrist movement we've been practicing!" he squeaked on top of his pile of books like usual.
"Swish and flick, remember, swish and flick. And saying the magic words properly is very important, too…never forget Wizard Baruffio, who said 's' instead of 'f' and found himself on the floor with a buffalo on his chest." I cringe slightly thinking of the time Dudley pile dived into my stomach because I 'messed up' his room. The jerk, man it hurt for about a week.
It was pretty difficult at first. I took a deep breath before chanting the spell. I didn't get right away but I was able to get my feather up a few inches! I was happy with that! I jumped feeling something really hot land on my neck "Hot!" I yelp jumping up clutching the back of my neck in pain. "Oh dear, are you alright Miss. Potter?" I nodded and gave a small smile "Yes professor." I glance behind me to see Harry trying to put out Seamus's feather with his hat.
I saw that Ron was having a hard time just like the rest of us. "Wingardium Leviosa!" he shouted, waving his long arms like a windmill. I hear Hermione scold Ron. "You're saying it wrong," she snapped. "It's Wing-gar-dium Levi-o-sa, make the 'gar' nice and long." She was right, if you didn't pronounce the charm precisely right bad things happen. Just like Professor Flitwick said.
"You do it, then, if you're so clever." Ron snarled. He really didn't like Hermione for some reason. I knew Hermione she was going to prove how she was a great witch. I watch as she rolled up her sleeves of her gown, flicking her wand she said. "Wingardium Leviosa!" the feather rose off the desk and hovered about four feet above our heads. She was simply one of the best witches of our class.
"Oh, well done!" Professor Flitwick cried clapping his tiny hands. "Everyone see here, Miss Granger's done it!" I smile at her she was always the smartest in every class we are in. After Hermione had completed the spell everyone had just given up on doing their charm. Myself included "You know it's not that hard come on I know you can do it." She tried to encourage me.
"Eh…I was able to get my feather up a few inches." She smiled "See! Now do it again." I sighed and stare at the feather "Wingardium Leviosa." I flick my wrist a few times watching as it levitates in the air only to fall again.
"Hmm I think it's your wrist movements. You have to keep flicking your wrist." I blink a few times before doing as told. It kind of worked. I didn't mind really I wanted to go to sleep. I think the reason my charm wasn't working so well because I was tired. Yup! That's what I'm going for!
Ron well he was in a bad mood the entire class because of what Hermione was able to do. So after class Hermione decided to take me to Professor Flitwick to ask a few questions before heading to our next class. "You are such a good student I'm just shocked you weren't able to do something as simple as that." I laughed slightly "I'm blaming my tiredness." She laughed slightly "It's no wonder no one can stand her," I hear Ron say loudly. I gasp slightly glaring at the stupid red head.
"She's a nightmare, honestly." I growl slightly only to frown as Hermione hurried past Harry and his friends tears in her eyes. "I think she heard you." Harry felt some remorse for her having seen her tears I'm guessing. "So?" Ron said but he looked uncomfortable. "She must have noticed she's got no friends." I growl and stomp over to rom smashing my books on his big stupid head several times.
"You jerk! Stop being mean to Hermione! Just because she's smarter then you it doesn't mean you can be a total arse to her." I snapped clenching my fists glaring up at that stupid red head. "Harry! Control your sister!" He yelled as I smack him hard. "I'm not getting near her when she's like this! She's your problem."
I turn around and smack my idiot brother upside the head "Oww!" I huffed annoyed "You should have at least stopped him." I snapped "Well I…" I glare at him "Lizzy I'm sorry?" I scuffed and walk away "You all are a bunch of idiots!" I storm away. I needed to find Hermione she needed someone.
By next class I still couldn't find her. "Ugh where is she?" I was really worried about her. "Everything alright?" I turn around and see Lavender Brown "Hey Lavender, do you know where Hermione is?" she thought about it for a moment "Oh right! I remember I saw her in the girls bathroom. She might still be there." I nodded "Thanks Lavender!"
I ran as fast as I could to the first floor bathroom and checked every stall. No Hermione. Damn. I ran out and ran to every bathroom till I found her sobbing in one of the stalls. I panted gasping for air bent over leaning on my knees.
"Go away." There was a loud cry filled with sobs. "Hermione, Hermione it's me. Please open up." I begged walking over to the third stall in. "Go away Lizzy." I rest my head against the wooden door feeling the slight coolness of the door spread across my head. "No. I won't leave you. Don't listen to what Ron said he's being an idiot. He's jealous of you because your by far a better witch then he would ever be a wizard." There were a few sniffles but the door wouldn't budge. "I'm not leaving this bathroom until you get out of there." I warn crossing my arms and sitting on the floor.
My stomach would growl every now and then making me cringe wishing for some food. I would be fine because at the Durselys I barely was fed. "Just go to the feast." She said in a small whisper, I could barely hear. "No way, I'm not leaving my best friend alone when she needs someone." There was a small gasp "Y-You think I'm your best friend?" I smile and stand up staring at the wooden door.
"You bet I do! I couldn't have picked a better friend." I smile brightly staring at the door there was a small shuffle before the door opened slightly. I saw a puffy eyed girl with tear stains coating her pretty face. "You are the best friend anyone could have. You're sweet, incredibly smart, beautiful, adorable the way you look when you get a new book, and all of our teachers love you because you are one of the perfect students." She opens the door and hugs me tightly crying into my shoulder.
I wrap my arms around her frame and hug her tenderly petting her bushy hair down in a way I knew would be comforting. Harry would do this to me if I was upset he was a great brother but I'm still mad at him. I lift her face up and wipe away some stray tears "Don't let those two stupid boys be the reason you cry." She smiled softly "Thanks Lizzy." I nodded with a giggle "Now come on you missed class but I got the notes." She smiled softly and took my hand.
I turn to the exit and my eyes widen in fear, my body locked up as I stare up at the gigantic troll. Hermione just finished wiping her eyes when she caught on. Her eyes became wide as she let out a loud petrified scream. It startled me causing me to join in.
Harry's Pov a few minutes earlier:
"Perfects," Professor Dumbledore rumbled "lead your Houses back to the dormitories immediately!" There was a troll in the castle! Percy stood up and yelled to everyone in the Gryffindor table "Follow me! Stick together, first years! No need to fear the roll if you follow my orders! Stay close behind me, now. Make way, first years coming through! Excuse me, I'm a perfect!" Percy would holler at anyone who got in his way.
"How could a troll get in?" I asked as we climbed the stairs. "Don't ask me, they're supposed to be really stupid. Maybe Peeves let it in for a Halloween joke." Ron suggested we passed different groups hurrying in different directions.
'How could this have happened? What are we to do? I wish Lizzy was here she would…' my eyes widen in fear "Hermione and Lizzy!" I yelled terrified for my little sister's safety "What about them?" Ron didn't understand!
"They don't know about the troll!" I watch as Ron bit his bottom lip. "Oh, all right," he snapped. "But Percy'd better not see us." I ducked down and joined some Hufflepuffs going the other way. We slipped off down a deserted side corridor and hurried off toward the girl's bathroom. Just as I was about to turn a corner Ron pulled me behind a large stone griffin. "Percy!" He hissed.
Peering around the griffin it wasn't Percy, no it was Snape! He crossed the corridor and disappeared from view. "What is he doing?" I whisper staring where I last saw Professor Snape. "Why isn't he down in the dungeons with the rest of the teachers?" it was weird…
"Beats me." shaking my head to clear my head, we still needed to get to Hermione and Lizzy! But I wanted to see what he was up too…As quietly as possible, we crept along the next corridor after Snape's fading footsteps. "He's heading for the third floor," I said about to follow only Ron stopped me. "Can you smell something?"
I sniff the air and caught whiff of some foul stench. It was a mixture of old socks and the kind of public toilet no one seems to clean. I heard it though. It was a low grunting and the shuffling of footfalls of gigantic feet.
It was coming toward us! We shrank into the shadows and watch as it emerged into a patch of moonlight. Twelve feet fall, its skin was dull, granite gray, it had great lumpy body like a boulder with its small bald head perched on top like a coconut. It had short legs thick as tree trunks with flat horny feet. The smell coming from it was incredible. It was holding a huge wooden club, which dragged along the floor because its arms were so long.
The troll stopped next to a doorway and peered inside. It waggled its long ears, making up its tiny min, than slouched slowly into the room. "The keys in the lock," I mutter "We could lock it in." It was a pretty good idea then everyone would be safe.
"Good idea." Ron sounded nervous. We slowly made our way toward the open door, my mouth was dry, making a quick prayer that the troll wasn't about to come out of it. One great leap I grabbed the key, slammed the door, and locked it.
"Yes!" I smiled brightly Lizzy and Hermione would be fine now. We started to run back up the passage yet once we reached the corner we heard it. My heart stopped. A high petrified scream that was coming from the chamber we had just chained up.
My face was drained of color staring at the room "Oh, no." Ron was as pale as the Bloody Baron. "It's the girls bathroom!" I gasp my heat stopped my little sister was in there with Hermione and I locked her up in there with a troll!
"The girls!" I ran well more like sprinted back to the door and turned the key, my hands were fumbling with panic. I rip the door open and dash inside. I stare wide eyed at the girls they were shrinking against the wall opposite. Hermione looked as if she was about to faint. Lizzy was holding her behind her but I could see the fear in her eyes. She was terrified.
The troll was advancing on the, knocking the sinks off the walls as it went. Lizzy's face cringed every time yet wouldn't leave Hermione. "Confuse it!" I yell at Ron, I was desperate as I seized a tap throwing it as hard as I could against the wall.
It was a few feet from the girls. I watch as it lumbered around blinking stupidly, to see what had made the noise. Those mean little eyes stared at us it was hesitant at first but then made for me instead. Lifting it's club as it went.
"Oy, pea-brain!" Ron yelled from the other side of the chamber as he threw a metal pipe at it. The troll didn't even seem to notice the pipe hitting it's shoulder, but it heard the yell and paused again, turning it's ugly snout toward Ron instead, giving me time to run around it.
I shout out to the girls "Come on, run, run!" I was able to get Lizzy but Hermione was still flat against the wall, her mouth open with terror. "I'll get Hermione…look out!" I hear Lizzy yell toward Ron. The troll was advancing toward Ron who was the closest.
I ran and took a running jump. It was kind of stupid but whatever. I was able to fasten my arms around the troll's neck from behind. The troll couldn't feel me hanging there, but even a troll will notice if you stick a long bit of wood up its nose. I was just hoping the girls were able to get out.
The troll howled in pain as it twisted and flailed its club. I was clinging to the stupid troll for dear life; if I let go the troll would either rip me off or catch me with a nasty blow with the club. "Wingardium Leviosa!" Ron shouted. The club flew out of the trolls hand, rose high, high up into the air, turned slowly over and dropped, with a sickening crack onto its owners head.
The troll was swaying in its spot before falling flat on its face with a loud thud that made the whole room tremble. I got to my feet shaking and out of breath. Taking a glance over at Ron his wand was still raised and was staring at what he had done.
I felt a smaller body tackle me into a hug trying to squeeze the life out of me. I knew who it was. It was Lizzy. Quickly wrapping my arms around her frame, doing what I usually do when she was upset or scared. "Is it…dead?" Hermione was the first to speak. "I don't think so; I think it's just been knocked out."
Letting go of Lizzy I leant down to get my wand out of the troll's nose. It was covered in what looked like lumpy gray glue. "Urgh troll boogers." I saw Lizzy gag as I wiped it on the troll's trousers.
Lizzy's Pov:
I quickly went back over to Hermione checking her over to see if she was okay. "You okay mione?" she nodded she was still a bit shaken. "You protected me…" She whispered making a small smile worm its way to my face. "Of course I was protecting my best friend." She hugged me tightly making me smile.
There was a sudden slamming and loud footsteps made us look up. Professor McGonagall had come bursting into the room, closely followed by Snape, with Quirrel bringing up the rear. Quirrell took one look at the troll and let out a faint whimper and quickly sat down on a toilet, clutching his heart.
What is he whimpering about?! We were the one who were stuck with it when it was awake! Professor Snape bent over the troll while Professor McGonagall was looking at my brother and Ron. I gulped and stare at her. I've never seen her so angry.
"What on earth were you thinking of?" she said with a cold fury in her voice. "You're lucky you weren't killed. Why aren't you in your dormitory?" Professor Snape gave Harry a swift piercing look before facing me and Hermione.
"Please, Professor McGonagall they were looking for us." Hermione's small voice carried through the room. "Miss Granger! Miss Potter!" I helped Hermione get to her feet and look at the ground. "I went looking for the troll because I…I thought I could deal with it on my own, you know because I've read all about them." Hermione was telling a lie to a teacher?
"If they hadn't found us…we'd be dead now. Harry stuck his wand up its nose and Ron knocked it out with its own club. They didn't have time to come and fetch anyone. It was about to finish us odd when they arrived."
Harry and Ron tried to look as though this story wasn't new to them. "And what about you Miss Potter?" She snapped staring us down. "Well I…" Hermione cut in for me as I was playing with my robes. "She tried to stop me after she found out what I was doing; I wasn't going to let her stop me so she ended up coming along and had been the one to protect me before the boys came." I blush a light shade of red.
"Well… in that case." Professor McGonagall was staring at all of us "Miss Granger, you foolish girl, how could you think of tackling a mountain troll on your own?" Hermione hung her head in shame I rest my hand on her shoulder a small frown on my face "Miss Granger, five points will be taken from Gryffindor for this." Professor McGonagall spoke "I am very disappointed in you. If you're not hurt at all, you'd better get off to Gryffindor tower. Students are finishing the feast in their houses." At the mention of the feast my stomach decided to make a loud growl.
I blush a bright red covering my stomach when I got a few stares. Hermione left with her head down "Well, I still say you were lucky, but not many first years could have taken on a full grown mountain troll. You each win Gryffindor five points. Professor Dumbledore will be informed of this, you may go." I started to leave only to have Professor Snape stop me.
"Professor Snape?" I look up at him and saw the look in his eyes. "Come with me, I must speak to you in private." I nodded and follow him outside the bathroom, I was expecting a lecture. I kept my head down awaiting my punishment.
"Not many students would put their life on the line against a Mountain Troll." I bite my lip staring at my feet. "Let alone putting their life on the line to protect a fellow student." I look up and saw a small smile on his face. "You are so much like your mother. I award you ten points to Gryffindor for your bravery." I smile brightly "Thank you Professor Snape." He nodded.
"Go off to your dormitory and eat. Going a full day without food is not good on the body." I blush a bright red before nodding and running off to Gryffindor Tower. "What happened to you?" I sit in a chair and grab some food next for me and Hermione. "Professor Snape gave me ten points for protecting Hermione."
They seemed shocked "He gave you points?" I nodded loading up a plate "Told you isn't that bad." They stare at me shocked as I ran over to Hermione. Plopping down next to the girl "Thanks for protecting me." I shrugged and bump my shoulder into hers "Forever and always." She laughed and stole some of my food.
"Hey!" I laugh out with a big smile on my face "Oh no! I missed the last class." I giggle "Don't worry I got the notes." We smile and continue to eat.
