Kenzi had begrudgingly agreed to meet with the Morrigan, although she may have reconsidered if she knew a certain Mesmer was going to be there.

In truth, Kenzi hadn't quite forgiven Vex's slanderous words against her humanity, and even though she was no longer human, it still struck a chord. Her entire life had been nothing but people telling her she was useless and would never amount to anything, and to have one of the few people she cared about-whether he knew it or not-say those same words against her started to make her believe they were true.

'You know the Mesmer didn't mean it.'

Being as old as the hellhound was, it knew that humans and fae did not mix well relationship wise because they were seen more as lesser beings.

"And how would you know?" Kenzi snapped back. She didn't even want to get her hopes up and she wasn't sure she wanted to make it easy for Vex either. He deserved a little cold shouldering.

'Because he showed you kindness, and that is not something fae typically do, especially the dark.'

Kenzi considered the words of the ancient beast that was now a part of her, but as much as she wanted to believe it, she couldn't. It was self-preservation she told herself. But a part of her also knew that she was doing what she did best, running away from her problems.

'You will see.' The hellhound said before retreating into the recesses of her mind.

Kenzi brushed off the conversation and prepared for meeting that was bound to go terribly wrong. Little did she know that there was one other person who was dreading the meeting more than her.
