This is one of the stories I have neglected to update. Good news is, I am now in the process of writing the ENDING! Finally, this nightmare is over. For the most part, I didn't feel like finishing this and wanted to just put this on a permanent hiatus, but that was only because I couldn't read anything past volume 7 due to the library not having anything in the series past that, and I didn't want to purchase them just because. So this will be a double update, and I finally get to reveal Nathan's true nature (next chapter). R&R, PM, and Enjoy!
Chapter 9: Old Enemies
(Nathan Kisuki Cross)
Fear shot up my body. These were the vampires that killed my parents and turned me into what I was now. Mr. Yagari stood, and dove across the room for his desk, grabbing a pistol from under some papers. He turned the gun, one that could kill vampires, towards the third man.
"Put the gun down," he said, in an accent that almost sounded British. "All we want is the boy, as well as a few of the sleeping students."
Mr. Yagari cocked the gun, and said, "Over my dead body."
"Suit yourself." He turned to the two others and said, "Kill him, the boy is mine." The first two sprung at Mr. Yagari, who didn't even have enough time to fire the gun. It was knocked out of his hand, and he started to fight them fist to fist. My attention went to the third man as he ran up to me and gave me a few punches to my arms. They felt numb, and I stooped down, on one knee. I looked up to see his hand reaching for my face. He grabbed my hair, and I could feel myself rising off the ground. My first instinct was to scream in pain, but it felt like my voice didn't want to work. I looked over to Mr. Yagari in time to see him decapitate one of the men.
I heard the man grasping my head say, "I'm surprised to see you survived that nasty winter storm. Your blood was tasty back then, let's see if it still tastes the same." He threw me across the room, causing me to slam into a file cabinet. I had no time to react as I felt my head move and his fangs sink into my neck for the second time, on the other side of my neck. I tried crying out in pain, but all I managed was a gasp. The man withdrew his fangs, and I saw Mr. Yagari pulling him off me. He was able to throw him across the room, and I saw the Night Class had come in. I assumed that the other man was also killed when I didn't see him.
I looked over at the pure blood as he said, "Seeing how I am outnumbered, I shall take my leave." He looked over at me, wiping my blood off of his lips. "Your blood was as tasty as the first time." He disappeared into the night. Some of the Night Class began to go after them, but Kaname stopped them. He came over to me, and said something I could hardly make out. I was seeing some black around my eyesight, and I felt my head roll as the familiar feeling of unconsciousness swept over my body.
(Kaname Kuran)
We were about to begin our next class, when we heard glass shattering. The sound had come from Toga Yagari's classroom, where Nathan still was. I told the teacher what we heard, and he said he would get the headmaster. We all sprinted down the halls, as Mr. Yagari's classroom was on the opposite side of the building. I, as well as the others, could hear the sound of fighting, the sound of bones snapping and flesh tearing. I could have sworn I heard a croaking noise.
We ran in and saw a man being thrown across the room by Mr. Yagari. I could sense he was a pure blood vampire, but he had another scent on him. I noticed his lips and mouth. Red, blood red. I turned to see Mr. Yagari standing over Nathan, who was wheezing. My attention was returned to the vampire. He was wiping his mouth, removing the blood, and said, "Your blood was as tasty as the first time."
I noticed he was talking to Nathan. He must have been the one Nathan was talking about. He fled, like the coward he was. Aido and Kain started to go after him, but I told them not to. "We have more important matters to attend to." I walked over to Toga, and I asked what had happened.
"That scumbag came crashing through the window with two Level-E minions. I killed the two, but Nathan here," he pointed to his neck, "got bitten." I turned his head, which rolled over, and saw the fresh puncture wounds. Nathan was unconscious, so I got up and picked up his body. I handed him over to Souen and asked her to take him to the nurse's. She nodded and heaved his body over her shoulder.
She dashed for the office and said to the others, "We might as well get back to class." I turned back to Toga, and asked if he was alright.
He nodded and said, "Just need to sit down for a while." I turned to leave, but Mr. Yagari stopped me. "Is he going to be alright?"
I turned, and said, "Hopefully."
(Souen Ruka)
I arrived at the nurse's office in a matter of minutes. Thankfully, Night and Day Class students had separate nurse's and nurse rooms, so I wouldn't have to explain this to a mortal. The Night Class nurse was, of course, a vampire. I opened the door and readjusted my hold on Nathan's body, walked in, and called for the nurse. I set Nathan down just as the nurse came in. She asked me what had happened and I tried to explain to the best of my knowledge what happened. "Once he regains consciousness, he should be able to explain more."
"Can you tell me anything that I should really know about; broken bones, major wounds, the like?" she asked.
I thought for a while and said, "I'm not sure about broken bones, but Mr. Yagari mentioned he was bitten. A pure blood, and most likely the same one that bit him the first time." As I continued to talk, the nurse checked his wounds and applied a roll of bandages to his neck. "Will he be alright?" I asked her nervously, afraid of what she might say.
"He should be fine. Lucky for him, being bitten multiple times by the same vampire isn't really dangerous, unless he lost a lot of blood." She stood and looked him over, having covered the bandages. "And it doesn't seem like he lost too much. A pint at most." I sighed with relief and the nurse allowed me to stay for a while longer.
I looked at his face, and thought about the first time he encountered us. He was full of fear, confusion, and anger when we first met, wanting only to be killed. Now, he was one of us, accepted by the ones he hated most. Kaname, Aido, and Kain came in, and sat down on the opposite side of the bed.
"How is he?" Kaname asked.
"He'll live. He only lost a pint of blood, and any more could have been dangerous." Aido was looking outside, probably checking to see if the pure blood was waiting outside.
Kaname stood, and said, "Come, we must return to class." Aido and Kain followed Kaname outside, as did I.
Not my best ending, but it's a double update. Hopefully chapter 10 will make a difference. R&R. PM. Next Chapter.
