Diego's alarm went off loudly, causing him to stir awake. He groans and hits the snooze button. He sits up and rubs his eyes. With a yawn, he changes into his normal clothes and heads to the kitchen. He pulls out a box of cereal called 'Sugar Flakes', milk, and two bowls. He pours in the cereal first, then the milk.
Chase comes out of his room, dressed, and grabs his bowl. "Thanks." He sits down in the couch and flicks through the channels on the TV.
Diego sits down next to him. "Got your stuff together?" Chase nodded. "Good. The girls should be heading out soon. I can't wait to see the others."
"Yeah, me too. I guess that's the only good thing about school." Chase slurps the leftover milk out of his bowl.
"You said it." After sometime, Diego takes their dishes and places them in the sink. "Alright, get your backpack." Chase picks up his red backpack while Diego slings his messenger bag over him. "Let's go."
They exited their house and closed it behind them, remembering to lock up. They looked across the street and see the girls coming out of their house as well. Diana looked tired and cranky while Rebecca looked lively and ready to start the day.
They walk over with Diego snickering a bit. "You're not a morning person, are you?"
"Shut up…" Diana mumbled tiredly.
Rebecca hopped around all of them. "Ooh boy, I can't wait to go to school! I'm gonna make new friends, have great classes, see awesome rooms!"
Chase chuckles. "Wow, you really like school."
"Like it? I love it! It's so exciting! Being in a new school means I won't know what to expect! I love the unexpected!"
Diego smiles a bit. I can see why Chase likes her. I'm starting to like her myself.
"Can we just start walking?" Diana groans.
Feeling she was in an annoyed mood, Diego rolls his eyes and decides to spare her the pain. "Yeah, come on." Chase and him lead the sisters down their usual path to school.
Rebecca couldn't seem to hold still for one second. "Are we there yet?! Are we there yet?! Are we there yet?!"
Chase laughs. "It's just a twenty minute walk. We'll be there shortly."
Diego takes out his phone. "I'm gonna text the guys and see if they are there yet." He starts typing away on his phone.
"More delinquent friends?" Diana spoke up.
Chase shakes his head. "No, they're actually really nice. They don't really mind our extreme lifestyle. We can introduce you guys to them. You'll love them!"
"Oh boy, new friends!" Rebecca cheered happily.
"Good, they're already there. Let's pick up the pace, people!" Diego starts running ahead of them.
Chase and Rebecca smiled and raced after him. Diana sighs at their behavior. But, a small smile creeps up on her. "Hey! Don't leave me behind!" She jogs after them as quickly as she could.
They raced all the way to the high school. It was a large building that was two stories tall. It was made up of brown bricks on the exterior and had white doors at the front entrance. A flagpole stood high, waving a flag with a picture of an 'A'. Stone words over the main entrance read 'Arceus High School'. Buses started to pull in and drop students off.
Diego smiles. "Ladies, I present to you…Arceus High!"
Diana was quite impressed. "Wow, this looks like an amazing school."
"It's one of the best in the region of Silvac. It's one of the most efficient and well educated high schools you'll ever visit." He opens the door and bows. "After you, ladies."
Diana rolls her eyes and walks in with Rebecca. Diego and Chase follow and see the sisters' reactions. The floors were white and almost spotless. The walls were white with yellow text printed on it, ranging from 'Arceus High School' to 'Go Arceus Knights!' The lockers were vertically long and black. Students roamed the halls, since the first class didn't start for awhile, and spoke with their friends.
Diego smiles. "Ah, glad to be back here."
Chase nods. "Yeah, I missed this place."
Diana smiles widely. "Wow, this school looks better than it did on the outside! This is amazing!"
That's the biggest smile I've seen on her face. Diego thought. He shook his head with a small smirk.
Chase was looking around, like he was searching for someone. Rebecca tapped his shoulder. "Looking for something, Chase?"
"Yeah, a friend of mine. He went on vacation a month ago and I haven't seen him since. Where could he be?"
"I'm sure he's around, Chase." Diego picked up on the sound of someone being knocked into the lockers. "What the…" He walks off in the direction. Chase and the girls looked at each other in confusion before following.
They turned a corner and saw something quite shocking. An Ursaring, wearing a white team jacket with yellow sleeves and a yellow 'A' on the left side of the chest, black jeans, and black boots, was shoving a whimpering Oshawott against the lockers. The Oshawott was wearing USMC mute green hat, a pair of glasses, and, around his neck, a necklace with 'Family' on it. He wore a black t-shirt with his scalchop on it, a green jacket with a hood, purple shorts, and orange and grey shoes. He had brownish green eyes and a small scar going over the right side of his lip.
"Please Brick, I didn't mean to bump into you!" The Oshawott pleaded.
Brick smirks. "Well, you little twerp, how about we go outside and settle this little problem? Or better yet…" His right arm glowed as he prepared to strike him.
"HEY!" Chase yelled at Brick, causing him to deactivate his attack. "Leave Adam alone!"
Brick groans and drops Adam. "The Anarchy Duo…I figured you two would show yourselves."
Diego sighs. "Still the raging, popular, and academically challenged brute from before, I see."
"Did you just insult me, punk?!" He roars at him.
Diana looks at Diego with some worry. "Who…is this guy?"
"Brickford Jonas, star quarterback for the football team, school bully, and has the IQ of, as implied by his name, a brick." Brick growls at him, leading Diego to smirk. "He's also highly aggressive and has a pretty bad temper."
"I'm going to pound you into paste, freak!"
"Ooh, I'm so scared." He responded sarcastically. "Please, you beating me? That's a laugh."
"You won't be laughing when I'm done with you!" He charges at the smug Charmeleon in blind rage.
"What is going on here?!" Brick stops and they turn around to see a Seaking in a fish bowl on a cart being guided by a Croconaw. The Seaking was wearing a black bow tie while the Croconaw was wearing a green polo shirt, trousers, and black sneakers.
Diego chuckles. "Principal Torrent…what a pleasant surprise."
Torrent sighs upon seeing him. "Oh great…hello Mr. Sliverfang. I take it that you enjoyed your summer, considering the hijinks you've been pulling."
"Eh, it was alright."
"Now what exactly is going on here?"
"Glad you asked. Bricks-for-Brains here was picking on poor Adam for no reason." As he talked, Chase helped Adam up and walked him away from Brick. "Might I suggest a week's worth of detention or perhaps just a call to his parents. Ooh, how about both instead?"
"Mr. Sliverfang, I don't need your input on the matter." He looks at Brick with a glare. "As for you, Mr. Jonas, I'm gonna make a call to your parents about your behavior."
Brick panics. "You can't do that! My dad will kill me!"
"My mind is made up. Mr. Croc, take me back to my office." Croc nodded and pushed the cart to the office.
Brick glares at Diego. "I'll get you for that, punk." He stomps off in a fit.
Diego rolls his eyes. "What a baby…"
"How you holding up, Adam?" Chase asked his friend in concern.
"I'm fine, don't worry." He replied. Adam Oceanus-Calidus was one of Chase's closest friends, aside from Diego. Adam is an orphaned child and lives with a foster family. Though, despite this, he was rich because he was left money from his biological family. He has a minor case of autism, so he tends to get picked on for it. Chase met him in middle school when he was pulling a prank with the PTA system and decided to help. They quickly bonded and became really close friends.
Diego shakes his head. "Honestly, Brick can be such a nuisance."
"Sounds like you speak from experience." Diana spoke up.
He smirks a bit. "Eh, nothing I can't handle."
Adam looks at them. "Hey, who are they?"
Chase placed his hand on his shoulder. "Adam, I like you to meet our new neighbors, Diana and Rebecca." He said Rebecca's name with a slight dreamy tone, which only Diego and Adam noticed. "Girls, this is my best friend, Adam Oceanus-Calidus."
Before Adam could speak, Rebecca jumped over and shook his hand wildly. "Well, how do you do? It's so nice to meet you! You must be really good friends with Chase! Hey, do you want to be my friend too?"
Adam pulls his hand back and chuckles awkwardly. "Heh, sure, why not?" He glances at Chase. "Where do you two find these types of people?" Chase responds with an innocent shrug.
Diana sighs. "Well, I can already tell that you must have an interesting bunch of friends."
Diego nods proudly. "Oh yeah! Plenty of them! Some are calm, some are absolutely wild!"
"Did I hear you mentioning me?" They looked back and see Jacob, along with Kerian and a Pichu, who looked around eight years old, much to the shock of Diana. He wore a blue scarf and blue goggles, which were currently up on his forehead.
Diego smirks. "Of course, why wouldn't I?" Jacob and him shared a quick laugh together. "So, you excited about school?"
This made the Umbreon blow a raspberry. "Yeah right! It just means my summer vacation has ended." Diego pats his back.
Diana looks at the Charmeleon with narrowed eyes. "Um, forgive me for asking…but why is there an eight year old in a high school?"
Rebecca picks the Pichu up and snuggles him. "Aww, he's so cute!"
Pichu chuckles. "Why, yes I am." He gets out of her grasp and bows. "Pleasure to meet you, ladies. I'm SkyArrow, the smartest Pichu you will ever meet!"
SkyArrow was a somewhat mischievous Pichu with an intelligence that could rival Diego's. He was great at inventing things with the use of his limited electricity. Diego and him usually hangout when they come up with some scientific ideas they would like to share, which was a lot. Even though he was smart, he was still a kid.
Diana blinked a bit before rubbing her temples. "It's official, I'm losing my mind."
"Oh, lighten up, sissy. You can't enjoy yourself if you keep complaining about every little detail." Diego said rather cheeky.
Diana really wanted to punch him, but thought against it. "Whatever, I need to get to class." She pulls out her schedule and looks at her first period. "Let's see…I have Physics first."
Diego looks at her schedule and smirks. "Ooh, isn't this a surprise. We have the same teacher."
This made her eye twitch ever so slightly. "Oh boy…" The school bell rang.
"Time to head to class! Come on, Adam, Rebecca!" They dashed off to their class. Diego walked proudly to his class with Diana trudging along with a look of mild annoyance. SkyArrow tagged along with them while Jacob and Kerian head off in a different direction.
Diana looked at SkyArrow questionably. "Um, why are you following us?"
SkyArrow smiled. "Oh, I have the same Physics teacher."
She sighs. "Of course you do…"
They entered the classroom, where the students were chatting with each other, talking about their summer and cool stiff they did. At the front desk was an Alakazam wearing a red, flannel shirt, jeans, and black shoes. He had a bored expression on his face as he was signing papers.
Diego, with a sly smirk, walked up to him. "Hello Mr. Orion. How was your summer vacation?"
Mr. Orion blinked rather slowly and spoke with a monotone voice. "I was enjoying my time away from the students…and you, Mr. Sliverfang."
"Aww, I'm flattered that you thought of me."
"Just take your seat, you miscreant." He ordered in boredom.
"With pleasure." Diego skipped over to a desk and sits down. "Hey sissy, seat next to me is open."
Diana held back the urge to growl. She closed her eyes, remembering why she was trying to put up with him. She forces a smile, just barely. "Gee, thanks." She sits down next to him, holding the smile. However, when Diego looked back to see who else was in the class, she drops the act and face-plants her head against the desk.
SkyArrow leans over and whispers, "Something tells me you're not a fan of Diego."
She pulls her head up. "Believe me, this is a pain to go through." She glances at Diego for a second before saying, "But, if I can get on his good side, he said he'll invite me and my sister to the Harmonious Note, since we don't have memberships yet."
SkyArrow's eyes slightly widened, kind of surprised by this. "Wait, did Diego say that to you?" She nods, confused by his behavior. "Um, Diana, about that-"
"Quiet down, you ingrates." Mr. Orion spoke up. Everyone faced forward and paid attention. "Now, I assume you all had a fine summer?" Everyone murmured in agreement, making him sigh. "Well, that time is now over. This is a time of learning and growing through knowledge. I expect no slacking while in my class or punishment will rain down upon you like the fires of death." Most of the class was surprised he said that with a straight face. "Now then, to start off the year, we shall have a pop quiz to see how much you've retained since last year." The students groaned in annoyance.
Diego pulls out a pencil and leans back. "Heh, piece of cake." Diana rolls her eyes at his cockiness and waits for the quiz to be passed out. This was going to be a long day.
"Settle down, class!" The teacher for the World History class was a Simipour in a red dress and jeans. "Everyone, pay attention. We have an exciting day today!"
Chase, Rebecca, and Adam sat near each other and smiled. "This is awesome. We have the same first period together." Chase whispers excitedly.
"I know dude, I'm just as excited!" Adam whispers back in the same tone.
Rebecca nodded. "And you get me as a friend! Bonus!" She shouted happily.
Simipour looked at her. "Ms. Montoya, please refrain from shouting in class."
She giggles in embarrassment. "Sorry, Mrs. Anders, couldn't control myself. I just love learning! Are we going to learn something?! Please say yes!"
Mrs. Anders chuckles at her behavior. "We'll learn something, don't worry. But today is more of an icebreaker day. We'll get to know each other first, then next class we'll start with our first unit." Rebecca cheered excitedly at this.
Adam shakes his head. "Man, she's over the top."
Chase barely heard him as he stared dreamily at Rebecca. "Yeah…" He glances over and saw something that made his blood boil. Some of his classmates were looking at Rebecca rather interested. He clearly heard one say, 'She's pretty cute.' He wanted to get up and beat some sense into them.
Adam, seeing his look of rage, forces him back into his seat. "Dude, cool it!" He whispers loudly.
"But they were-"
"Just ignore it. Don't want you getting jealous just because they like your girlfriend." He finishes with a smirk.
Chase sighs. "You have no idea what I'm-WAIT, WHAT?!"
Mrs. Anders flinched at his tone and turns around from the board. "Is something wrong, Mr. Daylight?"
Chase shakes his head with a nervous smile. "No, no, everything is fine Mrs. Anders! Please, continue with what you were doing!" Mrs. Anders only shrugged and went back to the board. Chase sighs and looks at Adam with a worried look. "Alright, how did you know?"
"You're joking, right? You kept looking at Rebecca with that stupid look on your face." This made the Pikachu blush. Adam nudges him with a sly grin. "So, when are you gonna ask her out?"
Chase looks away. "I-I just met her yesterday, dude. It would just feel weird if I suddenly asked her out."
"Well, you better, because some guy might come up and steal your chances away from you." Chase looks down in thought, not even paying attention to the teacher.
"Time's up. Pass up your papers." Mr. Orion's class groaned as they passed the sheets to the front. He took the papers to his desk and began grading.
Diego leans back in his seat with his usual grin. "I don't know about all of you, but I passed that thing with ease. Only took me five minutes."
Diana shakes her head. "You're awfully smug."
"Hey, I can't help it if my genius is too much for your simple mind to handle." Diana was about to say some very crude things to him when the teacher suddenly spoke up.
"Well, well, well, what a surprise? A perfect score from Sliverfang." He sighs as he graded the quiz. "SkyArrow, nice work as usual." Skyarrow pumped his fist. "And lastly, we have…" His eyes slightly widen in curiosity. "Well, isn't this interesting? Seems we have another genius in class." He was looking directly at Diana. "Ms. Montoya, you got the same score as Sliverfang."
"Huh?" Diana questioned. The class was murmuring, like this was unusual. "So? I just happen to remember the things from last year."
Diego was even surprised by this. "Not everyone gets a 100 on his quizzes, though."
Mr. Orion crosses his arms. "I must say, you two are the smartest kids who attended my class. I expect great things from the both of you…well, not so much Sliverfang with his attitude, but his education." He rolls his eyes at the response. "You, Ms. Montoya, keep up the great work." He gets up and picks up a marker. "Alright, let's start our lesson before you're excused from class." He starts writing down their first unit.
Diego barely paid attention as he stared at Diana with a narrow eyed look. Her parents were right, she is pretty smart. Hmm, we would make good friends. But, how long is she still going to judge me before finally seeing past all of that?
After third period ended awhile later, the students were dismissed to lunch. Diego, Diana, and SkyArrow met up with Chase, Rebecca, Adam, Jacob, and Kerian. "Sup guys, how's your day going so far?" SkyArrow asked enthusiastically.
Rebecca smiled with glee. "I had a great time in my third period! I'm taking French! It's my favorite language!"
Chase smiled at this. "Really? I happen to speak some French myself. It's my favorite language as well."
"That's awesome!" She hugs him for a quick moment before taking a seat. Chase dazed off for a moment before being shaken awake by Adam, who was silently chuckling. "How was your day, sis?"
Diana pulled out her packed lunch. "I guess it was alright. Though, I kept getting these comments from everyone, even the teachers. They keep saying how I might be a new prodigy or something."
Jacob blinked before gasping. "Oh yeah, I've been hearing about that. People have been saying that you are probably just as smart as Diego."
"Which I find utterly ridiculous." He commented as he pulled out a sandwich and munched on it.
Diana narrowed her eyes. "And what is that suppose to mean?"
He shrugged. "Eh, the idea of you besting me in anything academic is just ludicrous. With my IQ, I should be attending a high level college than stick around in high school."
"So why not?" She asked with a hint of venom.
He smirks a bit. "Well, college is not as…dramatic. I guess I just enjoy the chaos that goes on here."
Adam rolls his eyes. "There you go again with your whole chaos thing."
"I can't help it if I enjoy the subject. It's unpredictable, unorderly…and amusing."
"What does this have to do with me possibly being just as smart as you?" Diana persisted with the question.
Diego puts his sandwich down. "Have you ever done anything phenomenal, like create life?" She was taken aback by this. "Oh yeah, I did it once. True, it didn't last long, but I plan to perfect my project and enter it in the science fair that's in a few months."
Diana was about to say something else when two obnoxious laughs filled the air. It was coming from the two 'brats', who were wearing white polo shirts, trousers, and fancy black shoes. "There he goes again, brother. Saying that he created life." Malcom rudely stated.
"That story gets older and lamer every time." Dexter added on.
Rebecca blinked. "Who are they?"
Chase groans. "Malcom and Dexter Paxton, the two richest and most obnoxious brats you'll ever meet."
Dexter blew on his fist and rubbed it against his shirt. "You're just jealous of our vast wealth, peasant."
"I do agree, dear brother. They envy our superiority." Malcom agreed with a smug tone.
Adam rolls his eyes. "Please, I'm way richer than you two posers."
"And yet you have a rundown job working for a manager who despises your disabilities. Can't say I blame him, though."
"Correct, brother. His mental problem makes him quite useless." Dexter added on.
Adam growls angrily, causing Kerian to step in. "How about you do us all a favor and just leave? I can easily place the both of you into a fatal position." He was about to get up, but Diego stops him. "Huh?"
He gets up and leans against the table. "Mind explaining your reasoning for coming over here?"
The Nuzleaf merely rolled his eyes. "If you must know, Dexter and I happen to spot your table in disgust when we caught sight of the fair maidens that you were acquainted with." Diana and Rebecca's eyes widened in surprise.
Dexter nodded. "Never before have we seen visions of beauty like yourselves."
Rebecca giggled. "Aww, thanks." She didn't notice Chase grinding his teeth in rage and jealousy.
Diego, however, smirks. "Wow, you two are even more pathetic than I thought." This surprised them and the girls. "I mean, come on, that's the way you introduce yourselves to ladies. I've seen smoother greetings from preschool children." His friends laughed a bit, though Diana only offered a small smile.
Malcom glared and poked Diego in the chest. "What would you know about courting a lady? Last I checked, you got rejected by many girls in the past."
Diana and Rebecca expected Diego to get angry or irritated, but they were surprised that he kept his calm demeanor. "Yeah, you're right. Don't blame them considering I have a habit for pranking. But, at least I don't over react over a little mess."
"What are you referring to?" Dexter's question was answered when he and Malcom got hit in the face with ketchup, staining their shirts as well. "WHAT THE HECK?! Do you know how long it'll take to get this stain out?!"
Diego sets the packets down and crosses his arms. "And, once again, I've been proven right."
"You no good simpleton!" Malcom grabs the nearest object, which was a bowl of pudding, and chucks it at Diego. However, he just tilted his head to the side and let it fly by.
"And what was that supposed to accomplish?" He asked. They hear the pudding hit something…or rather, someone.
Brick growled angrily as the pudding dripped down his face. On the ground in front of him was a tray of lunch splattered all over it. He wipes the pudding off and glares in their direction. "Alright, which one of your dweebs threw that?!"
Malcom and Dexter smirked deviously. Malcom coughs and says with a fake concern tone, "Oh Brickford, are you alright?"
"Dear heavens, we were worried that this miscreant's hostile actions have left you in pain." Dexter said, nodding at Diego.
Brick clenches his fists and breathes heavily. "Sliverfang…" He marches over and grabs Diego by the collar of his hoodie. "Think you could get away with that, huh?!"
Diego blinked slowly, not at all fazed by the brute's threatening tone. "You must be an idiot if you think I threw that."
"Put him down, Brick! He didn't do it! The brats did!" Jacob attempted to plead.
Malcom laughs. "Why would we ever do such barbaric acts? I, for one, am ashamed of Diego's actions. He cost the great and mighty Brickford his lunch."
"We would never stoop to your level." Dexter added on with a hint of maliciousness.
"Sounds pretty legit to me!" Brick pulls back his fist.
"Before you do that, you might want to take a look around." The Charmeleon said with a smug grin. Brick takes a look and sees that security officers were roaming around the lunchroom. "You're already in trouble. Want to go for a second punishment?"
Brick gulped, he was already in trouble with his parents. But if he gets busted by the security…with a growl, he drops Diego. "Fine, I won't beat you up…today."
Diego dusts himself off and asks nonchalantly, "And what is that supposed to mean?"
He pokes him in the chest. "You and me…this Friday…after school…we'll settle this…"
Diego grinned cheekily. "And why do you need all that extra time? Planning to study for a test you'll end up failing?"
The Ursaring growled. "No…I get nerds to do that for me. I'm going to spend the rest of the week working out so I can pummel you into a pancake."
Diego looked at his claws, like there was something interesting on them. "Uh huh, yeah, whatever."
Before Brick could even think of pounding him now, Malcom intervened. "Now, now, Brickford, let's not move up the date early."
"We want you to leave Diego in pain. Allow us to buy you lunch and we can talk about your insured victory." Dexter said with a kind, yet evil tone.
Brick smirked. "You dweebs are alright." They laughed as they walked away.
Everyone was worried about Diego and the outcome of that fight. Diego sat back down and continued to eat without a care in the world. Jacob leaned in. "Uh, dude, aren't you a tad worried?"
He blinked slowly at the question before bursting out into laughter. "W-worried about B-Brick b-b-beating me?! Haha, Jacob, you tell the craziest jokes!"
Diana shot up and glared. "What is wrong with you?! You accepted a fight with someone three times your size and you're just laughing?! You'll get hurt or worse!"
Diego finished his lunch and wiped his mouth off with a napkin. "Your point?" This made her growl angrily. "Why do you care if I get hurt or not? I thought we weren't friends."
"Yeah, well…!" She fumbled with her words, even confusing herself. Why did she care? He was a nuisance anyway, who only cares about mayhem or destruction. She shakes her head. "That isn't the point! It's impossible for you to win!"
He stands up and grabs his stuff. "Nothing…is impossible." With that, he walks away before the bell rang.
Rebecca blinked. "Um…what just happened?"
"Your guess is as good as mine." Adam responded.
Diana sighs and grabs her stuff. "We should be getting to class." She walks off to her next class, thinking about what will happen to Diego on the upcoming Friday.
Thank you Maikou and Mysterals for your OC's SkyArrow and Adam.
