Finally, here's the epilogue.

One year later

I slowly gained consciousness with the feeling of sunlight falling on my closed eyelids. As I stirred, the arm wrapped around my waist tightened and my husband's face burrowed further into my hair. I snuggled back into his chest and tried to fall asleep again, but it was futile. The clock showed that it was just past eight in the morning. I was content to lay there since I had nowhere else to be. I put my hand over Edward's where it rested on my waist and entwined our fingers, thinking about all that we'd been through in the past year.

Exactly one year ago, on this very day, I'd received the phone call that threatened to destroy my life. The following four days were like my personal hell on earth. But at the end of those days, I got my Edward back. Secure in the knowledge that he was going to be alright, though I would not have thought it possible, I could appreciate even more how lucky I was to have him.

He had to wear the cast on his leg for three months before changing to a brace and several weeks of physical therapy followed. There were some bad days, when he was in severe pain, despite the medicines. The doctors assured us that was normal and did repeated scans which showed that his bones were healing well. Edward remained strong and determined throughout the process and his efforts were well rewarded. Six months after the accident, he was able to walk with a simple cane and a slight limp, which disappeared in another month or so.

His gait was back to normal and he'd resumed his position at the hospital. He'd been very busy for the last one week, taking up one of his friend's shifts, who had a family emergency. But he had the next three days off, and I was glad for the uninterrupted time that gave us. I had a very important surprise for him, after all.

Finally giving up on my desire to sleep in, it being a Saturday and all, I slowly wiggled my way out from under Edward's and got up. He groaned and stirred a little, but buried his head in my pillow and fell right back to sleep. I envied him. I walked into the bathroom and took care of my morning routine before making my way into the kitchen.

I got started on the breakfast, making Edward's favorite cheese omelets and cutting some fresh fruits. Less than half an hour later, I felt a pair of arms wrap around me and lips press against the hollow behind my ear.

"Mmm," I sighed, leaning back into him. "Good morning, husband."

I felt his lips curve up into a smile against my neck.

"Good morning, wife. Something smells amazing." His voice was still slightly gruff with sleep and all the more sexy.

"Ah yes. It is your favorite, I believe." I smirked at him and he chuckled.

"Yes, it is, baby. Need any help?"

"Could you make the coffee?"

"Sure." He placed one final kiss on my cheek before pulling away and heading to the coffee maker. It'd been a gift from Carlisle and Esme when we bought the apartment and both Edward and I had hugged them tight in gratitude. Neither of us was a morning person and we needed the caffeine kick to kick start our day. It was the best housewarming gift we'd gotten.

I quickly finished the cooking while Edward set the table. He walked back into the kitchen and picked up the coffee mugs but I stopped him.

"Wait! I…um…I'll bring out the coffee. You can take the rest," I stammered.

He raised his eyebrow at me but did as I asked.

As soon as he left, I took out the box I'd hidden in the lowest cabinet the day before. I retrieved the mug from it and transferred his coffee from the old white mug into the new blue one.

"Here goes," I muttered. Taking a deep breath, I walked out of the kitchen.

Edward sat at the dining table, looking at me curiously. His gaze fell on the blue mug in my hand and his eyes rose to my face in question.

"What's going on, Bella? Are you alright?"

"I'm fine. I…uh…got you something." I sat down and pushed the mug towards him.

He looked at it once and said, "Uh…Thanks?"

He looked adorable with his furrowed brow and confused expression, making me giggle.

"Turn it around," I whispered, my heart pounding furiously.

He took hold of the handle and turned the mug. His gaze fell upon the words written on it in pink for a second, then his head snapped up to look into my eyes.

My eyes welled up as I saw the emotions clearly in his. Shock, nervousness, awe and then…joy.

"Really?" he questioned in an earnest whisper.

I smiled and nodded as a single tear made its way down my cheek. "Yes. I'm pregnant, Edward."

His eyes once again fell to the mug that said "World's Greatest Daddy" before he shot out of his chair. He lifted me up into his arms in a flash, hugging me tightly and pressing soft kisses onto my face and neck.

"We're going to have a baby!" he exclaimed, laughing and crying at the same time. His lips pressed hard against mine.

I laughed too as we broke apart, pressing my forehead to his and looking into his shining emerald eyes. "We're going to have a baby."

Almost four months back, when Edward had fully recovered, I'd told him that I didn't want to wait any longer to start our family. I'd come too close to losing him, and it reminded me that there are no guarantees in life. I was ready to begin that new chapter of our lives together.

He'd happily agreed and I'd stopped taking the pill.

"How far along are you? Have you been to the doctor already? How do you feel?" he fired at me excitedly.

"I don't know how far along I am because I haven't gone to the doctor yet. I didn't want to go without you. I took the test yesterday morning. I waited to tell you because I had to go and buy the mug and also…well, I wanted to remember this day by a happy memory, rather than the bad ones."

He smiled and kissed me softly. "It's perfect, baby. I'll schedule an appointment with Kate for Monday."

"Okay." We'd been friends with Dr. Kate Denali and her husband Garrett for over a year now, due to her working at the same hospital as Edward.

"You didn't answer the most important question. How do you feel?"

"I'm fine, Edward. I've been getting tired easily these last few days, but no morning sickness or dizziness. It's probably too early to have other symptoms."

"No cravings yet?"

I laughed. "No. So far so good. I wonder if I'll make you run to the store at three in the morning in a few months though."

He chuckled and shook his head. "I'll be happy to." He placed his hand on my belly. "I love you, Bella. Both of you."

"I love you, too."

We did make an appointment with Kate for the coming Monday. She confirmed the pregnancy with a blood test and congratulated us heartily. She carried out my first ultrasound and tears of joy filled my eyes upon seeing my tiny little baby for the first time. Edward's arms tightened around my shoulders and I looked up to see his eyes shining with tears too. I was glad I hadn't visited Kate before telling him; I wanted us to share every single part of this experience.

I'd always thought it sounded cheesy when I came across the phrase in books or movies but only now could I truly understand…our baby really was an embodiment of the love Edward and I shared.

A few days later, we shared the news with our family. They were ecstatic and thrilled for us, Alice and Esme already planning shopping trips for everything we'd need. We also visited my parents' graves and I laid a picture of the baby's first sonogram there.

Fortunately, my pregnancy was an easy one. I'd only had a tough time dealing with the morning sickness that lasted a little over the first trimester, but other than that, there were no complications. I did fiercely crave Cherry Garcia ice cream throughout the 38 weeks and Edward made sure to stock the refrigerator with it.

And before we knew it, the months flew by and we welcomed our little bundle of joy, Amelia Renesmee Cullen into the world. Weighing almost six and a half pounds with ten tiny toes and ten fingers, Amy was perfect. Her hair was as dark as mine and her eyes were a shade of grey, that Esme was sure would turn exactly like Edward's.

I woke up from my slumber to see Edward sitting on the couch with Amy in his arms. He was humming a lullaby, trying to calm her down and stop her cries to allow me to rest, but our daughter was being stubborn.

"Hey," I said in a scratchy whisper to get his attention.

He looked up and smiled at me. "I tried to calm little Miss Cullen down, but it seems she's really hungry."

I chuckled and asked him to bring her to me. I took her in my arms and pulled down the front of my gown. We both laughed as Amy immediately stopped fussing and latched on to my nipple.

Edward sighed and sat down beside me on the hospital bed. He kissed her head and mine and wrapped his arms around both of us.

That moment with my family, with the two persons I loved the most…that was my perfection.
