Chapter Nine

A/N: Thank you for ShadowPhoenix96, gracieluvsya and RochiiPotterGrangerWeasley for reviewing the last chapter.

For the third time that evening, complete and utter silence had fallen on the dormitory that housed the two foreign acquaintances. Or as they had newly been discovered to be, far more than merely acquaintances. Twin sisters.

It was then that the girls had explained the feelings that each had felt upon meeting the other, a strange sensation of their having met before, in a time before they could really remember. Everything now made sense, as if the final piece of a puzzle had been put into place. They were complete.

"I have a sister." Phoenix sighed, when she found that she could no longer bear the silence. She giggled a little, a slight awkward sound, and the pitch of her tone rose a little. "This is all totally crazy. I mean, I have a twin sister that I didn't even know existed. I thought I was an only child for my whole life, but I'm not, I'm a twin. Wow!"

"I know how you feel." Crystal agreed, nodding her head to accentuate this fact. "All my cousins are sets of siblings, and I was always the odd one out, the only one that didn't have someone else. But when I thought I was just different, I'm not. I'm special, because not only do we share parents, we shared a womb. We're two parts of the same person, two sides of the same coin. And they do not know how cool this is!"

"It is cool, yeah, but it's still so strange too." she pointed out, shaking her head a little, as if to clear it of a dream, or a vision that she had never expected. Naturally, that was precisely what she was doing, and it had not been a long while since her twin had done the same. "To think that there's two of me. Not really, obviously, I'm just me, but to think that there's another person in the world that has exactly the same face as me, which incidentally, I didn't even notice… it's just really strange."

As it had now been mentioned, the two girls finally took the time to notice the similarities between their faces, some subtle and some not at all so. Now they knew why people had given them strange and lingering looks as they walked nearby to each other in the corridors.

Under close observation, the pair now saw that their facial structures were almost the same, their noses and cheekbones in particular, although Crystal was a little more cherub cheeked than her sister, a result of years eating at Molly Weasley's dining table. Their hair was the true difference between them, in colour and in style. Phoenix's hair was dyed a dark shade close to black, and cropped quite roughly in layers, as if she had attempted to style it herself in order to be different, while the Weasley child had kept her hair in the tradition shade of her family members, and kept it the traditional shade of her family, neatly cut and tucked away behind an Alice band. The only similarity that they had was their eyes. Both children had small, almond shaped eyes that were the same sparkling shade of emerald green as their grandmother, Lily's had been. It seemed to be only now that they were able to see this.

"We look the same." Crystal commented, before wincing as she quickly realised how foolish the statement sounded. After spending so much time observing their similarities, this was probably the dumbest thing she could have said, and she immediately tried to retract the sentence, or at least make it a little better to hear.

However, she needn't have worried, as Phoenix promptly let out an amused chuckle, as if she had been considering saying precisely the same, which the redhead would not have been surprised by. "Not so much anymore, but we probably used to look identical. Good quality for identical twins!"

"Yeah." the other sighed with a faint laugh, nodding her head to affirm the point. Suddenly, however, the smile disappeared from her features, leaving only a look of intense concentration in its place. Confused by these happenings, the American's features twisted into a slight frown, and she opened her mouth to question the sudden change in expression, but before she could utter more than one syllable, her sister held up one hand, telling her wordlessly to be quiet, so that she would have a chance to think about whatever scheme she was planning, given that that was presumably the occupation of her time.

"What are you thinking?" Phoenix finally asked, after half a dozen minutes of silence had passed. After all, if it was important enough not to be overheard, they only had an hour at most remaining until their roommates returned from their outing. She would need to know the plan sooner or later, and currently, the former seemed the better option.

"We look the same, exactly the same." she repeated, only on this occasion, she did not seem to be making a stand-alone point, rather beginning a series of them. "I've never met my dad, or our dad, anyway. He left when I was a baby, so I don't remember anything about him. And you've never met Mum for the same reason, because Dad took you with him. So, if we look exactly the same… what's to stop us from switching places?"

Immediately, Phoenix opened her mouth, intending to tell her twin that she was being completely ridiculous, that her idea would never work and that it was stupid to even think of. But then she stopped, her mind racing through the different possible elements of the plan. This way, Crystal would have the opportunity to meet their father, and she could get to know the lovely person that he was. And she would finally be able to meet her mother, a woman that she had dreamed about for years. Having decided that the positives most certainly outweighed the negatives, the girl gave her response to the plan, nodding and smiling in the affirmative.

And so the girls began to hatch a plan.
