I put a date in here and just so you know, it is a guess of when this is. I actually wrote this entire chapter for a request. (I hate it when people write just author's notes) I am on spring break and am very bored. My mom thinks I should read more. Any suggestions?
Annabeth and I had a fabulous tour after I exploded the bathrooms. We talked about life, avoiding the quest, and had a grand old time enjoying each other's company. People occasionally would point, but they had been doing that all morning.
She sort-of gave me a tour of the camp though the tour mostly included us strolling around, not her showing me meaningless things that I'd already seen a billion times. Right before we got to the opening, at the canoe lake, Annabeth stopped and gestured for me to go off the path a little. Then she faced me and gave a little smile.
"First of all, I don't think that anyone will see or hear us here. Second of all, we need a game plan."
"A what?" I whispered.
"You know, a plan of action, strategy." She groaned at my 'stupidity'.
"Well, I have this." I pulled out the note from the Olympians, but when I looked on it new instructions were printed neatly on the cream colored paper."
I read it out loud:
"Good. You two are together and now we can start the quest. Please note that this one is a test run."
"What do you mean 'a test run'?" Annabeth hissed. "A test run of what?"
"They want us to save the people who didn't make it in the war. I thought I told you"
I didn't wait for her response.
"No one (thankfully) died on your first quest so this period of time is just us checking out how it will work. Please keep your status a secret unless absolutely necessary. You might want to consider telling Chiron before you leave on your quest.
Lots of love and best wishes, The Olympians.
P.S. Watch it punk ~ Ares"
Annabeth busted out laughing at the last part of the note.
"H-he J-just did T-tha- Hahahaha," she gasped.
"Very funny" I tossed the paper on the ground. I really didn't want to hear what the gods thought. "Now for the real question," I said. "Should we tell Chiron?"
Annabeth's answer was almost immediate. "Yes. In fact, let's go now." She spun around and grabbed my hand. "Come on Seaweed Brain."
She dragged me all the way to the Big House despite my protests of, "I know where it is!" and "Hey!"
When we got there, the centaur was just trotting back from his archery class.
"Chiron!" Annabeth called out.
He turned his head towards her and when he saw the serious face and the hand clasped into mine, he put on his teacher face and said, "Come with me."
He led us through the halls, passing many rooms. I often wondered what they were for, but never really tried to find an answer.
"They're for the satyrs," Annabeth whispered. I jumped and she chuckled.
"How did you know what I was thinking?"
"You always look at something with your eyebrows furrowed when you want to know what it's for." She whispered back.
"Well thanks." I muttered.
"Honestly, Percy, what did you think they were for? Grover doesn't just sleep outside!"
I mumbled some lame excuse and we continued walking in silence.
We passed Chiron's office and I nudged Annabeth. A grin spread across her face as she saw what I was gesturing to. The full collection of our activities director's CDs. We silently laughed at the memory of scaring the stymphalian birds away with the greatest hits of the 20th century until Chiron turned around. We had reached the war/rec. room.
"Now, Ms. Chase and Mr. Jackson, what did you want to tell me?"
Annabeth spoke first. "What we're going to say might come as a shock. You have to believe us though. We just are going to war-"
"What Annabeth is trying to say is…"
"We were sent here on a quest."
Chiron gave us a strange look as if trying to comprehend what we were trying to say.
"Well who sent you?" he asked.
"The gods," I said.
"So this whole time you two have been…"
"No," my girlfriend cut in. "It's a little weird actually. Percy and I are… Well we're."
"From the future," I finished. "The gods sent us back from five years into the future to save a few people that… didn't make it."
He looked at me. "I knew that you weren't surprised," he said sadly. I assumed that he was sad about the fact that some campers died in the future not that I wasn't shocked at my lineage.
"If you don't mind me asking, but what part do you two play in this?"
"Let me re-introduce us," Annabeth smiled. "My name is Annabeth Chase two-time Hero of Olympus and official architect of the gods, and this is Percy Jackson. Same thing minus the Architect part."
"Hey!" I said for probably the millionth time. "I did a lot!"
Chiron just looked shocked. "Well I guess my training paid off." He finally sighed. "I won't ask why you needed to save the Olympians twice, but I do have some questions."
"Why don't we get someone else to answer those questions?" I replied, fishing a drachma out of my pocket. I walked over to the sink in the corner of the room and turned on the faucet. I didn't want to overload the old centaur's mind with the fact that I was a Big-Three kid. At least not yet.
I tossed the coin in the water and chanted. "Oh Iris, goddess of the rainbow, except my offering. Show me Chiron at Camp Half-Blood year 2014."
The air shimmered and a picture formed of the future Chiron sitting and talking with a group of hunters. One of them pointed at me and slowly Chiron turned around to face us. I'd never doubted the past Chiron's belief in me, but he still sure looked pretty surprised to see his future self-shimmering in front of him.
"Percy my boy!" future Chiron said. "I see that you've found Annabeth, Ms. Grace should be happy."
"Grace, as in Thalia Grace? Daughter of Zeus?" Past Chiron questioned. Future Chiron noticed him for the first time and took a step back.
"Percy, is that me?"
Before I could reply, Annabeth spoke
"Yes sir," she answered. "The gods told us to ask him for help. Percy thought that it would be nice to let him know who he was dealing with."
The future man nodded in agreement. "I should probably call a council meeting. He said."
We watched as he walked around camp collecting various kids. Past Chiron's eyes got wider by the minute as he saw the new cabins that had been constructed. The best part was when Future Chiron got to the Artemis cabin.
"Luteniet?" he called. Thalia stepped out.
"Sir?"
Past Chiron's eyes bugged out. "Thalia Grace?" he whispered.
Her face whipped towards us and after a split second of confusion, realization dawn on her face. "Yes." She said simply. To me she gave a funny glare and said, "Nice job Kelp Head, you didn't lose your girlfriend."
I remembered that Past Chiron didn't know we were dating when he gave us an odd smile.
All in all, we had an okay council meeting. Everyone introduced themselves to Chiron and he asked questions. We didn't tell him everything, but it was dinnertime by the time we were done.
The only things we left out were:
My parentage (he never asked), the fact that Luke was a traitor, and who the people who died were.
Later that night, at dinner, Chiron introduced me to the camp. They all were pretty welcoming and it inspired me to whisper a thanks to my father as I burned my food that night and smirked at the confused tings the Olympians were probably thinking.
