OMG I'm ill, well not bodily, nooo I've been listening to 50`s songs since I heard one in a movie. Wow and I even have to admit that some of them ARE good. I can't get them out of my head I hope that one day I return to my original style of music, which is practical, everything. (Snicker)(Properly the reason why I landed in the 50s in the first place) Anyway here it is. Also I just want you to know that I will change the rating to M so I can do what I want.
Chapter 9 prisoner
Kor didn't know how this had happened. How HE and his team could not have seen this trap. How they were captured in the first place.
It never had happened before, NEVER!
Maybe it was his fault, scratch that he WAS at fault. If his freaking mind wouldn't always switch between his mission and Robyn, then he would have seen the trap. Then he wouldn't sit here, chained to a chair, in the camp of his enemy. With his enemy trying to interrogate him, but knowing that he would never talk.
Kor wasn't sure how long they could withstand this torture. If back up would not arrive soon to save their ass, they would be done. A real -shit situation-.
Robyn was currently training again, like every day since that talk. It helped getting her mind out of her thoughts and her anger out of her system and it never got boring with the thousands of training simulations that this ship provided. Who would have thought that so many different material art styles existed?
She struggled that thought away and trained even harder, she couldn't stop. If she did then her other thoughts would return and she didn't have the mental strength to deal with them at the moment.
Kor telling her that he values her too much to let her go; was fluttering and scared the shit out of her. Her mind tried with no avail to deny, that his words could mean more than that of a friend, her heart on other hand tried desperately to tell her that they could. It was no wonder then, that she was practically a mess and the only escape was her training. So it happened that she trained 15 hours or more a day till her body finally gave away and she HAD to return to her room.
She would have tried to find out if they mean more or not, but the day she prepared herself to ask, she was met with an empty quarter and each day afterwards. When she asked Shakul about it he only responded that Kor had something to do.
Something to do? Wasn't Kor inquired? Well hopefully not enough to…
Her train of thoughts was interrupted when Shakul ran passed the door but what was odd about him, was that he was fully armored, growing concern, she ran after him.
After she had finally caught up with him and grabbed his arm to turn him around, she saw the deep shock and worry in his eyes. Worry and shock that was not there because of her!
"Shakul what the hell has happened? Is everything alright?"
Shakul only grimaced but tried to tell her that everything was indeed alright and she doesn't have to worry at all. But Robyn saw right through it, his eyes told her everything. Something terrible was going on and they obviously tried to keep her out of it, but not with her. So since he wouldn't answer nicely the best solution for her to get answers was clear:
She gripped his armor plate on his collarbone and pulled him down to look directly in his eyes. "TELL… ME… WHAT HAPPENED?!" and with each word she pulled him nearer and her grip became stronger.
Shakul was a nice guy but he also knew if he told her what had happened, things would go out of hand. So he quickly struggled free, turned and ran again. Robyn however was not known to let her prays run away and she equally quick ran after him. Shakul on the other side had an advantage over Robyn: he knew the ship!
And so it was no wonder that she lost track of him, frustrated she banged her fist against the metal wall. Immediately came the response from the K.I: "Could you please not bang against me? I don't like it! Besides I don't know why you do it anyway you will only fracture your hand"
Robyn shrugged her shoulders "sorry just trying to get my frustration out. I lost Shakul. Oh..i know! You could help me finding him cant you? "
„He is not here anymore. And I suggest a therapy for your frustration, since your stress level increased since Commander Anders left for Maren 4. It should help you to relax." Came the monotone voice of the K.I
"Pardon? If you all would tell me where he`d gone, I would not have an ´increased stress level`. And… wait! Commander Anders? What commander?"
The K.I. kept quiet for a moment to consider if it was wise to tell this human this info or not, but in the end she didn't saw anything against it. She was after all the only one who didn't knew what kind of ship she was. (If Kor would have know that his K.I would tell Robyn he would have ordered her to kept it a secret.)
"Kor Luke Anders, prince of tamaran and my commanding officer. And for his departure he is... was currently on a mission to help Maren 4, since the headquarters had asked him to"
Robyn was at a loose for words, if Kor was a commander that would mean that he is in the army right? And THAT would mean that he is a Soldier. A soldier who is used in a war or a battle. "BUT HE IS INJURED! HE CAN'T GO. That must have been the reason… why... Shakul… OH MY IS HE ALRIGHT?!"
Unfortunately Robyn didn't got the answer she desperately wished for "we don't know, his current status is unknown we lost contact to the party a while ago. But we sent back up he`ll be fine. MY commander isn't commander for nothing" but even the K.I knew, mentioning that it had never happened before was not a wise move.
However before the K.I had finished her phrase, Robyn had already started to walk in the direction of the armor room.
"HEY! Where do you think you are going? HEY DO YOU EVEN LISTEN?"
But Robyn ignored her completely; she had something better to do after all. She couldn't sit here around knowing that Kor maybe was in trouble. She had to save him, at least try to help him and no one had the permission to take Kor away from her. Besides this was her chance to show him that she could handle herself. Maybe.
So here she was in armor on a very strange planet. She wasn't very skilled at shooting anything besides her birderangs but we all know that her strength lies elsewhere. She was perfect at sneaking. So being undiscovered was her greatest advantage.
At least she knew where the contact to Kor broke. After she had pulled on the armor the K.I had realized that she couldn't stop Robyn even if she´d wanted to. So she agreed to help her by sending her data and keeping an eye on her from the sky (?), so she wouldn't walk into that patrolling enemies.
When she reached the camp, still undetected, Robyn waited a while to get to know the enemy in every way. After some more watching she finally detected the small hut where most of the captured team was. She identified them on their clothes.
Still she didn't saw Kor and that made her worry slightly, another problem was that the hut was almost in the center and even she knew that sneaking through was nearly impossible. She needed a distraction…. That's when she heard Shakul on her intercom tool in her ear.
(IAm so sorry , I really don't know how these things are called, if you know please tell me)
"YOU freaking stupid girl! This is not some game; if they see you they kill you instantly. GO HOME."
„NO WAY. Kor is my friend too and I will save him if I can. I'm not going to sit around. Besides I had plenty of guys that tried to kill me, for example Joker. Where are you?" Robyn whispered determined.
„Not going to tell you I case they hear us. But I can see were most of our guys are and that's the problem they are to heavily guarded. Even if we open the fire we would properly kill more of our man than enemies. Ah damn" she hear Shakul´s frustrated sigh that came with this and some triumph like feeling swept quickly over her, because He was not better than her and he was a trained soldier. So, she could handle herself quiet well. But that was not important at the moment.
Robyn thought for a little while before the solution came, maybe Shakul and his team could distract most of them. Then she could sneak through and free the others. The few that would not be distracted would not be a problem. With the others free the enemy wouldn't stand much of a chance.
When she told her plan to Shakul, he had to admit that it was a good plan, a bit risky but good. The only thing he didn't like about it was that Robyn was involved. Kor would sooooo kill him for putting Robyn in danger, But he didn't have a better plan.
So he just has to accept that.
It took Shakul nearly an hour to find a good solution to distract them without opening fire right away but in the end he had done it. Now the only thing left to do for her was sneak through the camp and free the others, which was quiet successful.
With the others free she only had to find Kor now. There was no point at hiding anymore the enemy already knew that they were here. She could hear and see it. So as quickly as she could without being shoot at she ran around the camp. Trying to find any clue of where Kor could be.
And with every tent or hut she searched through, unsuccessfully, she began to panic more. What if the enemy had moved him from here, what if he was hurt or worse what if he was… No, she couldn't think about it, she wouldn't think about it. And at that exact moment she realized that she needed him. She needed him to be there, to be with her, Even if the two of them fought. Just the knowledge that he was there put her at ease. Let her forget that everybody was gone and that she was alone, because she wasn't, he was there and she knew that she couldn't go on without him.
With new determination she moved more quickly. She would save him, not to prove that she could handle the situation anymore, but for herself.
It seemed that whatever force was up there, it was helping her. Because when she searched the last hut through, she stumbled over a carped that revealed a hidden trap door. A glimmer of hope spread inside Robyn and without any fear she stepped down.
What she found next made her blood run cold, Kor sat there chained to a chair, the enemy standing over him, hitting him against his face. Kor only smiled at his attempt to get him to speak and Robyn had to admit that she was impressed at Kors strength and willpower.
She was still undetected by the enemy but Kor glanced at her shortly. He lifted his hand behind his back slightly to let her know that he wasn't chained 100% anymore. He too, only needed a distraction and with a swift movement Robyn sprang forward and kicked the enemy in his side. He stumbled back but that was enough for Kor to act. He stood up quickly and swung his chain around the enemy's neck. That guy hadn't had a chance, with Kors bodily strength it was impossible to struggle away. The now dead enemy dropped to the floor with a tug and Robyn looked at him a little horrified "YOU DIDN'T HAVE TO KILL HIM!"
"No, I had to. He was a tyrant. His dead was my mission and now that that is taken care of, let's get out of here." After a few struggles with his chains he was able to free himself completely and turned to Robyn to pull her along. No words were said between the two, both knew that their full attention was needed to get out of it alive. That would be a something to talk about privately and in safety.
Soon both joined the others and together they made a quick escape. Once back on the ship Kor turned to his team "OK team this was quiet a troublesome mission, the next stop will be Eden prime. I think it's time for some well deserved shore leaf, please rest there I maybe need you in 100% condition afterwards"
(look up Eden prime on Google, it's an earth like planet)
The team visibly relaxed at his words, all glad to have some time off and before anyone was able to say anything else Kor snatched Robyn and left with her trailing behind. Once inside his quarters he turned his full attention to her "YOU. You could have got kill. What the hell were you thinking?"
He was angry and she could see it. Normally she would have turned the conversation to the subject of him not believing her skills, but she was done with that. In the few minutes, were she thought he could be death, she decided that she was done with lying. If she wanted Kor to tell her everything she had to stop lying herself when it came to those things.
"I wanted to save you because I couldn't live without you" Her answer was blunt and simple, but it shocked Kor to his last bone. Did she really just say that?
He desperately hoped so, he KNEW that he had heard it, but still it was unbelievingly. This one phrase made his heart thump louder and stronger than it had in the last 100 years. This phrase gave him hope. Hope that he could indeed win her heart.
His eyes slowly softened and he guiltily looked away "I… I'm sorry I doubt you, more than I should have. You are a great fighter I was just overly worried that you couldn't handle this. But don't get ahead of yourself. I still believe that you can't kill anyone and that is why I still think that earth is too dangerous."
Robyn was overwhelmed by his words, he didn't doubt her skills as a fighter just her ability to kill and she was all too happy to agree with him. It seems that being honest on her part was one of her best decisions. "Why did you lie to me? Please tell me honestly" she whispered. There was no need to scream anymore if she wanted his trust than she had to trust him too.
He slowly looked at her again "I… I… I was… I'm still… scared that something could hurt you. You are a really important person in my live and I too couldn't go on without you. These years were terrible. I knew you wouldn't listen to me if I had told you and don't pretend you would have, because we both know that you don't" he took a glass of water and sipped it slowly, thinking about how to continue.
"It's just... That I…, Ah forget it, it's not important. I was scared to lose you"
This was hard for him she practical could feel it and even if she knew that there was one part left out she was ok with it. He needed time to tell her and somehow he had managed to destroy her anger with his words. That he lied to her was already forgiven inside her heart but she wouldn't tell him. She was curios, what he would do to earn her forgiveness…
