A/N: Hey you guys! Sorry this update is a couple days late, but as I said I'm on break and I've had to do some stuff as well. Speaking of which, any Divergent fans see the movie yet? I read the book last June and thought the movie was nearly completely accurate except for a couple things. I'll reread the book to make sure, though. Anyway, enjoy the chapter!

Disclaimer: Stephanie Meyer owns the Twilight world, not me. I suppose I was a little too late in the creative process, haha.

Bella POV: I got dressed with care this morning, knowing I'd be spending most of the day with Rosalie. She and I had never really spoken when Edward was around, so I wanted to make the best impression on her I could.

Brushing out my hair and deciding to let it fall straight today, I opt for some white jeans and light blue layered tank with my grey converse. Not too bad, but better than my usual I hoped.

"Hey Bells," Charlie greeted me as I entered the kitchen. "You look nice today. What's the occasion?"

"Just going to a friend's house, dad," I muttered, trying to hide my blush.

"That Jasper fellow again?" he wondered.

I turned to face my father, knowing my utter shock was clear on my face. "Um, yes?" I said, it came out like a question.

"That's good," he said casually. "I just hope he doesn't hurt you again, Bells. Seeing you go through that again is going to kill your poor old dad," he said, offering a sad smile.

I felt a rush of guilt for all that I put my father through in these past months following mine and Edward's breakup and walked over to hug him. "I know dad," I said. "And I'm so sorry. But I promise that Jasper won't hurt me. Besides," I said, sounding crestfallen even to myself. "We're just friends, we aren't together."

Charlie nodded. "Good enough for me. Hey, have fun today Bells. I'm going to be working late shifts at the station today so don't worry about coming home and cooking for me. Spend the day with your friends."

I nodded and he exited the house just as I took a piece of toast from the toaster, where Charlie had left it for me. Scarfing it down quickly I ran out to my truck, already ecstatic that Jasper was probably at the house waiting for me.

The thought sent a rush of warmth and fuzziness through the pit of my stomach. Last night with him had been the best of the time we spent together. It wasn't the first time I'd felt loved in his presence, but it was the first time I was sure he might have feelings for me too. And when he took me aside, and started to tell me what was on his mind I thought, Oh my gosh, this could be it! He might be telling me he likes me too! The look in his beautiful golden eyes certainly implied such a thing. But we were interrupted… again. And now I may never find out how he feels.

I arrived at the house in ten minutes time, as it wasn't too deep into the woods next to town. Before I could even open the door to my truck, I felt strong stone arms hauling me out and spinning me around in a bone crushing bear hug. "There's my favorite sister!" Emmett said jubilantly. "Boy, I sure have missed you!"

He squeezed me a little tighter and I blanched. "Uh- Em-," I choked out. "Can't-Breathe!"

Emmett gave me a throaty chuckle and set me on my feet, but still lightly grasped my shoulders. "Sorry Bells," he grinned. "I guess I forgot that I can actually break you if I hug too hard."

"It's okay," I smiled back at him, unable to help it. "That's what happens with weak little humans like me," I joked. Emmett brought out my good sense of humor. He was probably the best and closest thing I had to a big brother; a big teddy bear in my opinion. I loved him, probably more than I would love my own brother if I had one.

"You alright, darlin?" my favorite country drawl whispered right next to my ear and I jumped, clapping my hand over my heart.

"My god, Jasper!" I gasped. "How long have you been standing behind me?"

He smirked, as though he was pleased with himself. "I literally just stepped up behind you, darlin'," he pulled me in for a soft hug and kissed my forehead. I held back a contented sigh. If only I could stay like this for the next hundred years, with him holding me in his arms, his chin resting atop my head just as it was now.

Emmett cleared his throat loudly. "If you two lovebirds are done, Bella you should go inside and say hi to Rose. She's excited to spend the day with you."

I blushed crimson and looked away, knowing that if he saw he'd never let me live it down. "Okay," I murmured, reluctantly releasing Jasper's hand that was intertwined with mine and missing the contact as soon as it was gone.

I found Rosalie sitting in the living room at Edward's piano, playing a song I didn't recognize. She almost instantly stopped and turned around when I walked in and came to embrace me. "Hi Bella," she smiled after letting me go. "How are you today?"

"Actually, I'm doing really well thanks," I smiled back. "Um, if you don't mind me asking, what was that you were playing?"

"Oh that," she shut the door as she answered, lowering her voice to a whisper. "It's Emmett's '99th Human Birthday' in a month and I'm trying to compose a song to surprise him. I'm not doing very well, though," she sighed. "I'd call Edward for help, but he's such a jerk that he selfishly locks himself in his room all day or travels, and doesn't check in very often. The idiot is breaking Esme's heart. Besides," she said darkly. "After finding out how harsh he was on you, I'm in no mood to even think about him."

"Yeah well, his habit of breaking hearts really is unhealthy… for those on the other end," I grumbled, forgetting she could hear me.

"You got that right," Rosalie laughed. "Let's not talk about him, though. I want us to get to know each other. Has anyone told you the story of how I became a vampire?"

I tried to remember a time Rosalie's had ever been mentioned and failed, so I shook my head. She simply smiled. "Would you like to hear it?"

"Sure," I smiled. "I think it might help us understand each other a little better."

"I think so too," she said, and then proceeded to tell me about her life.

Fifteen minutes later, I sat there silently, trying to process everything. "That's… awful," I finally said. "Rosalie, I'm so sorry. You never deserved to have anything like that happen to you."

"Thank you Bella," she said softly. "The kindness and pity you give me is much more than I deserve after the way I treated you."

"Well, now I know why. You had good reasons."

"Yes but," she shuddered. "If you wanted to become a vampire so you could have been with my brother I should've accepted that. It's an act of love for you, not selfishness, like I did with Emmett."

"But Emmett doesn't seem to mind," I argued. "He seems to love it. And you, for that matter."

"Just as I love him," she agreed. "However, I wish all the time that he and I could have grown old together, been human, and had children. But it's impossible, because we'll always be frozen like this; so young and unmoving… forever. I just wanted you to have the experiences I didn't, Bella. But seeing how you feel about Jasper," she sighed sadly and smiled. "I suppose you won't have them after all."

I blanched. "H-how did you know how I feel about Jasper?"

"It's obvious," she laughed. "But don't worry, he's completely oblivious," she reassured me, causing me to relax.

Groaning and putting my head into my hands I said, "Great. He'll find out soon enough anyway now. I mean… he's an empath for crying out loud! What am I going to do Rose?"

Rosalie sat down next to me and patted my knee. "All I can do is tell you that you shouldn't just assume he doesn't have feelings for you Bella. Maybe pay more attention to how he acts around you, which should reveal your answer. But if you can't see anything on your own," she smiled. "Go out on a limb and tell him how you feel. Jasper isn't harsh. He'll understand you, no matter how you feel."

"Okay," I relented. "That's good advice. But you know me Rose, confidence has never been my thing. How am I going to even get anything out around him?"

"Leave it to me," she grinned wider. "I have a plan."

A/N: Ooohh, so do you guys think this plan is some sort of set up date (hint, nudge, wink)? How do you guys think their chat went, and do you think Edward is going to show up anytime soon? And by the way, any Divergent fans, please vote on my poll for a story pairing! I'm a massive fan of the books and ship FourTris. But after seeing the movie I was reminded how drawn to Peter I was while reading the book so Petris is an option as well! Please vote and review and I'll update soon! I love you guys!

Thanks for Reading!
