Hey guys, I haven't updated this story in almost a year and I'm really sorry about that but I had a lot to do for school, anyways summer holidays are back so I'm gonna try to update more often and maybe finish this fic (meaning finish philosopher's stone) this summer :)
Chapter 9
"I think the two of you would look cute together" said Genevieve. The three girls were sitting in a tree , near the Qudditch field, they were watching the Gryffindor team practicing, and commenting on each of the players individually.
"He may have been a bit nicer recently but he's still that arrogant, selfish git," said Lily
"Oh come on, give him a chance, he's been literally begging you to go out with him for years," said Rose.
"Just because we've been spending more time together doesn't mean I'm in any way closer to him," said Lily.
"We should go down to the tribunes, we'll get a better look from there," said Genevieve.
"They'll see us if we get any closer," said Rose "And little miss 'I don't like him' doesn't want to be seen stalking Mr Potter," said Rose
"We're not stalking them, just looking at the Gryffindor team practicing," said Lily
"From the woods, where they can't see us," said Rose
"Let's get back on the subject," said Genevieve "The new ginger boy, I heard he's called George Weasley, do you guys know anything else about him?"
"All I know is that he is quite cute," said Rose
"Nope, I haven't heard that much about him," said Lily "Perhaps we should go inside, it seems like they'll be heading inside as well."
"Yeah, we should, anyways we should really start doing all the homework and everything," said Rose
"Actually I'm done with it, I can lend it to you, if you need any help," said Lily
"When did you do it? There's so much you would have had to stay up all night to finish it all," said Rose
"Not all night, but quite late," said Lily, as they were getting down from the tree.
"Hey Evans!" said James
"What do you want? Can't you see I'm reading?" She had managed to get hold of the best chair in the common room, next to the fireplace. James had only just come back to the common room.
"Well, yeah, I can see that pretty well, but I know something that we can do, that's a million times better than reading alone in the common room." Said James
"And you actually think you will make me get out of this really comfortable chair, and take me away from my fictional characters?" said Lily
"Well yeah, that was sort of the point." Said James
"Where do you want to go?" asked Lily
"Now that, is a surprise, come on, you'll like it a lot,"
"Oh, fine, but just this once, Potter," said Lily
"Yay, now come on, follow me," said James, gently pulling her towards the exit. They went up the stairs, and through a corridor on the right, Lily had no idea where they were going but, she knew that James knew just about every corner of the school, so she just kept on following him. It seemed to her that they were heading for the divination room.
"Ok, now close your eyes and just let me show you from here" said James
"Can't I just walk on my own, and see my own way?" asked Lily
"Well, you can't really do that, since I'm in your way," said James
"Ok, fine, but I don't want to get in any trouble because of you, understood?"
"you're the boss"
"Oh am I now?" asked Lily
"Oh, that's not what I... Fine, but the boss has to listen to his inferiors, or else he's nothing,"
"ha, ha, very funny,"
"You have to admit though, it sounded really cool," said James. Lily didn't say anything, she just closed her eyes and stretched her arm in front of her. James took it, and slowly started leading their way. They went up another flight of stairs, and Lily, not being able to see where they were going was trying to work out the possible directions in which they could be going, and where they could end up, but she couldn't figure out what the great surprise about any of those could be. After a few minutes the air seemed to be getting colder, and eventually James stopped.
"Alright, you can look now," said James. Lily opened her eyes. The sun was settling on the grounds, but it was absolutely gorgeous. The most incredible mixture of orange and pink you could ever imagine. Lily had never been up here before, in fact she hardly ever ventured anywhere she wasn't supposed to be but after this, well she was sure there were much better things to see around the castle than the little she'd seen so far, anyways she didn't have a lot of time left in the school, and she had just the right person to accompany her in this adventure to discover more of the castle.
James led them to the edge of the terrace where they both sat down so close to one another that their hands were almost touching. The grounds were completely empty and the whole castle seemed to have gone to bed early because it was extremely quiet. The silence was only broken by James a little while later when he said "So, I've been thinking, you know how in the book, the two of us die and everything, well I'm sure we can change that, right? I mean that's the whole point of George being here, changing everything."
"How are you expecting us to just change our fate? Aren't there strict rules about time travel and all that stuff?"
"McGonagall herself sent him here to tell us our story, and our son's story, don't you think she was expecting us to change it? To rewrite the story, to create our own "happily ever after"."
"Yeah I guess she knew what she was doing, sending George back here, but do you really think we'll get married? Have a kid? Name him Harry? I mean that's the thing about time travel, it changes everything, step on a butterfly and you change the whole history of the human race, and now we're learning everything that will be happening just a couple of years from now? I don't know, it all just seems a bit much."
"Ok here's the thing, say we go on just as McGonagall wanted us to, we just let things go as fate wants it to go, and see where it gets us, with one exception, we try not to get killed, basically we try not to change anything, we know what happens, we stick to it but this time, we survive."
"Was that a marriage proposal?" Lily turned to James
"Do you want it to have been a marriage proposal?" at this point James took Lily's hand in his.
"James Potter if you for even one moment thought that I would accept a marriage proposal before I even finished my education you are extremely wrong." Lily said as she started to stand up and walk away, although halfway to the door she turned around and said "My answer is no by the way, try again in a few years" and then started walking away. James quickly stood up and caught up with her.
"Maybe it wasn't a marriage proposal." He said with a small smirk on his face. Lily continued to walk although he seemed to have caught her attention, he then put his hand on her shoulder to stop her from walking away. "Lily Evans, would you like to be my girlfriend?" he was staring right in her beautiful green eyes, anyone who looked her right in the eyes would get lost in them, and James needed no rescuing from this eternal void. Lily didn't say anything; she just leaned closer to James and kissed him. The kiss lasted for no longer than 10 seconds but to James and Lily, it felt like an eternity. Having Lily's soft lips that tasted of strawberry lip gloss rub against his own was something James had fantasized countless times before but the real thing felt so different, it felt so real, he finally had Lily Evans and he would never give her up, even if it meant having to defeat the most powerful dark wizard in existence, we would go to the ends of the earth for this one ginger haired girl with the most gorgeous green eyes in existence.
Once they finally let go of one another, James led Lily back to the common room where they shared another short goodnight-kiss.
