Len never spent a longer week fretting over a holiday project.

Thankfully, he did not have to worry about his other holiday homework. He could hand them in with ease...

... While Oliver did not dare to bring his.

"Actually, I think I can't hand in my homework at all," Oliver confessed to Len in a whisper during their lunch break. "I can't finish all the questions."

In the end, Len ended up helping Oliver with all his homework.

Before they knew it, the week swung back to Monday again. Len gulped as Ms. Megurine plunked their notebooks on the table.

He saw the familiar yellow notebook lying on the

of the pile, among the rest of the brown and dull notebooks.

It stuck out like a banana from a pile of fruits.

Boy were they doomed.

"I must say that I am extremely impressed with your work, everyone!" Ms. Megurine praised the class. "I had a lovely time-"

Oh really? Len thought glumly to himself.

"- Looking at your observations," she continued. "Before we start our lesson, here's some of your observations that I thought the rest of you would like to look at as well..."

Oh no no no no-

"YAY!" Oliver shouted with glee with his arms in the air.

Len was distraught. Oliver did not think that theirs made the cut, did they? They probably had the worst presentation.

However, much to his

(and everybody else's)

surprise, Ms. Megurine's hand dropped to the

of the pile and snuck out their yellow notebook.

Oliver bounced up and down his seat with pure joy as she proceeded to open it.

"Most of you wrote your observations in a list for every page, and that is very neat and organised. That made it easy for me to read your work. However, not many of you have included pictures of your plants over the weeks. Oliver and Len did that, and they even drew mind maps and interesting diagrams!" Ms. Megurine began as she flipped the pages. "Although it was quite messy, it was very engaging!"

"Thank you so, so much Ms. Megurine!" Oliver chirped as he flapped his arms with happiness.

All Len could do was to avoid the stares of disbelief from his classmates and internally die of relief

and some happiness, too.

He and Oliver ended up getting 'The Most Creative Project' award!

Along with a decent grade of an A-, of course.

As Ms. Megurine showed the rest of the notebooks

(a bit more quickly),

Len discovered something.

Had he worked on this project alone, his notebook would look very much like everyone else's.

He did not dare to ask his classmates what grades they got because he could feel their disappointment and discontent radiating off them.

He turned around to see what Oliver was doing.

He did not have to, because Oliver was already looking at him.

Before Oliver lost Len's attention, he grinned at him and gave him two thumbs up.

Len smiled back.

Working with Oliver wasn't such a bad thing after all.

The End
