Chapter 9: who did you become?
Here we go with Tim's reaction, enjoy..
"I can't even explain how I feel anymore, my thoughts are so messed up in my head that I don't even understand them."
It was one of those nights where a deep rain was present in the sky. Of course, it had brought it's friends thunder and lightning. Screams came from the Grey's bedroom. Hayley's voice was heard more than Tim's. Hayley had told him everything who was Kailen's father, her falling in love and being in a relationship with her teacher backwards. Of course, he didn't reacted so well. "You know I'm glad that that old director made him send away, because that's so fucking insane! He was your teacher for God's sake!"
"And so?! What does disturb you so much Tim?" She asked tearing up. "He was there for me when no one else was, we had a good feeling. Did I think he'd have to leave with me being pregnant? No! Not at all. But it happened. Did I think you'd be friend with him? No as well."
"You could've slept with anyone and you chose your teacher." Tim said with disgust on his face. But for Hayley, it was the sentence that went too far. She didn't recognize her husband, he was never such a bad man even when they fought. "You could've keep your legs closed." He finally said.
Hayley couldn't take it, she threw her hand towards his face to slap him. The sound of the slap had been clearly heard in the room silencing everything. "You don't get to say something like that to me, I am your wife you promised to respect me no matter what. You're such an asshole, get out of here!" Tim stared at Hayley in shock. "What?" She went towards him and guide him out of the room and down the stairs. "Get out of that house! Go find your own place you aren't sleeping here tonight." Tim grabbed his keys and left without a word and slamming the door.
She laid her back against the door tears falling down her pale cheeks. She wiped them away before going into her son's room. Kailen was sat on the ground playing with his toys. He looked up at her. "Is it time to go to bed?"
Hayley nodded. "Yes it is." She said in a soft cracking voice. He stood up and went to Hayley. "Are you okay mommy?" She looked down at him and guided him to his bed where he laid down and where she sat on the edge. "Listen sweetie, there's something I have to tell you." he looked at her mother, with a hint of innocent and slight happiness that reminded her of Elijah. "Yes?" He asked. She let out a soft chuckle, sometimes he sounded a bit like an adult. "Well you remember what I told you about your father?"
"Yes, that he was away because of his work but he loves me very much. He hopes that one day he'll finally see me, why?"
"Today I spoke with your father." Hayley said waiting his reaction. Kailen sat up in a flash happiness in his face. "You did?"
Hayley smiled. "Yes, my monkey. He told me that he would like to see you if you wanted to. So, do you want to?"
"Yes! Yes!" He said with his big beautiful smile and jumped on Hayley to hug her. Hayley laughed slightly and hugged her son back softly stroking his hair."when will I see him?"
"Soon my child. Probably in the week if you're sage. Now time to sleep, you have school tomorrow."
Kailen laid back under the covers with his plush toy. "Goodnight, sweetheart." Hayley kissed his head and smiled. As she stood up, she turned off the lights.
Hayley walked out of his room walking down the stairs to lock the door. What did she just do? She didn't even know if Elijah would've wanted to see his son, what if he leaves again? What would she do then?
The next morning
It was a rush, Hayley woke up late and rushed to wake up her son. She hurried to make Kailen dressed as well as her, they walked outside and Hayley forgot to lock the front door. They walked to the car and got in, Hayley first drove Kailen to the school and made sure he got into class, then Hayley drove to the university. When she arrived, she went to the teacher's room to get a cup of coffee. As she walked in she saw him, Elijah talking with a man she assumed to be another law teacher because he was wearing a suit and on the table laid a suitcase. She sighed and walked to the machine coffee, she made herself coffee as Elijah came up to her. "So that's it? You tell me I have a son and then you just leave?" he said his whole body turned to hers. "what are you talking about Elijah? I'm not leaving."
"That's not what Tim told my mother, last night he called her and he said he was leaving. He quit his job here." Elijah told Hayley. She became numb all suddenly, her face pale. "You look like you didn't know." he added then.
"Because I didn't. We.. oh god no." she sighed and put a hand on her front. "That's my fault.. I told him everything about who you are to me.. to Kailen.. we had a big fight and I told him to leave the house."
"Oh.. Hayley listen I'm sorry." Elijah said with concern in his voice. Hayley tried her best not to cry. "Well I guess that's the best way for a wife to know her husband is leaving her right?" she said sarcastically. He put a supportive hand on Hayley's shoulder and rubbed to her upper. "I'm sure everything is going to be alright."
"What can I say to Kailen? That Tim just left like that." she sighed and took her cup of coffee. "I'm sure I can manage to find something during today, right? Anyway thank you Elijah.. for this little help. Have a nice day." And with those words, Hayley left to her classroom. As she arrived, the classroom was already full of students. "Sorry, I'm late."
Lunch time
Hayley simply stayed in her classroom and took out her salad box with her bottle of water. She usually ate with Tim but with all the circumstances she decided it was better to stay alone in her classroom. And most of all, Tim wasn't even here. She started eating when a knock on the door was heard. "Come in." she said audibly and the person came in- Elijah actually came in. "I knew you would eat here so I thought you might want some company, do you mind if I stay."
Hayley shocked her head and replied simply. "You can stay." He nodded and went to sit in front of her. He lifted his cup of tea to his lips and drank as Hayley opened her salad and started to eat. Silence fell upon the two of them. "I told Kailen." Hayley said breaking the hurtful silence. "I told him he would soon see his father, that he was finally able to be in his life."
"Will you let me see him?" Elijah asked softly. "Of course, he deserves to know who is father is. You deserve to know him too, he's your son after all. Elijah listen.. I'm actually willing to let my rage aside to forget everything that happened for him but you have to know I can't just forget, we can be friends right? For Kailen."
Elijah smiled softly and nodded. "Yes we can."
Hayley smiled. "I'm glad then, what time do you finish at? Maybe you could come home with me tonight… to see Kailen of course."
He nodded happily. "I would love to. I finish at 5." Hayley smiled. "Great, we'll go together to get him but- you'll wait in the car of course."
"of course." he repeated her words.
Later that day
After picking up Kailen from school, Hayley and Elijah took him to the zoo. They saw multiple animals, Elijah shared some facts he knew about the animals he saw. They decided to get at Hayley's house over an hour after, it was 6pm30 the sun started to disappear. Kailen was slowly falling asleep already. When they arrived Hayley noticed the door was open, she immediately went to go inside but Elijah stopped her. "I'll go see, stay with Kailen."
Elijah walked inside and looked around, he saw everything broken. Vases on the ground, things had been taken away. He sighed, Hayley had been burgled. He walked outside to the mother and her son. "You have been burgled, you shouldn't sleep here tonight it's not safe at all."
"What really? But I don't have any money on me I can't go to the hotel. What will we do?"
"You can come to my house, I have friend room where you and Kailen can sleep. It's fine by me."
"What? I don't want to disturb you.. I don't know if it's a good idea."
"Just one night Hayley, tomorrow we'll come and clean it all."
"Okay fine.. one night."
