Back in Pixie Hollow, the long awaited Christmas Day festival was gearing up. Fairies and sparrowmen of all talents have spent countless hours preparing for this day, perhaps more than for the Autumn Revelry held every four years. Activities and games awaited all attendees, as well as gift exchanges, and prize winning. The festival stretched from Springtime Square, across the Summer Meadow, through the Autumn Wood, and integrates into the Winter Woods. Ever since the incident with the freeze setting in on the realm, it has brought the wiinter side and the warm seasons closer than ever before. And all thanks to a very curious tinker fairy that discovered something that changed her life forever.
The ministers of the seasons, and Lord Milori, gathered to kick things off; they all knew that Queen Clarion was on an urgent mission, and told them to start in her place. As the fanfare and streamers were released, the festival was underway.
Coordinated by the leaders of each respected talent guild, including those from across the border, it was the first time that all fairies and sparrowmen from both sides have joined together in a celebration to truly recognize the reason for this time of the year. Though it was a bit nippy, no one didn't seem to mind, as a good time is being had by all. With the various animals in hibernation already, the animal talent fairies could participate as much as the rest, example being Fawn winning at a few games, that brought out the playful side of her. Rosetta set the standard with her full fields of flowers, protected in frost, courtesy of the winter frost fairies. The sight was beautiful.
As every magical being was having an joyous time, one fairy saw something in the sky, coming across the Summer Meadow, By the sparkling of the dress, she knew who it was.
"Look!" she shouted, getting many's attention, "Queen Clarion's back!" the lot of people gazed to the sky, to see their queen flying overhead, followed by the fast-flying fairy Vidia, and Zarina, Pixie Hollow's resident pixie dust alchemist, who flew directly to the dust depot. Following behind them, were two human size beings, one muscular, and the other slim, as they flew, with one carrying another in her arms. Focusing more, they were recognized as the fairy twin sisters, the first ever in Pixie Hollow. Now magical humans due to a disease that only their kind can attract, the tinker fairy formerly known as TinkerBell, and her recently discovered twin, the frost fairy now formerly known as Periwinkle, followed the trio towards the pixie dust tree.
The many who were gathered around the home tree, engaged in games, stopped what they were doing, and came to greet their queen, as she returned from an urgent mission. Viola, Clarion's royal summoner, urged the lot to dispurse, as to make room for the magical being to land. Belle and Perri landed, as she held her boyfriend in her muscular arms, tears streaming down her face. Her sister had a saddened expression on her face as well, as the queen approached them.
"Lay him down right here," she said calmly, barely containing her emotions, as the former tinker fairy gently laid the love of her life at the base of the tree. The ministers, Lord Milori, and the seven fairy friends flew over to see what was the commotion, and what they saw made them gasp in shock and sorrow.
"What happened?" asked Silvermist, her hands over her mouth in shock, a tear coming down her cheek. Rosetta, Fawn and Iridessa couldn't help but look the same way. They, along with Clank, Bobble and even Terence, were grief stricken.
Michael, the son of Peter Pan, laid on the ground in a heap. Bruises to his body were apparent, especially one across his face like a bootprint; but the most horrifying, his left arm, as well as his right leg were missing. All that was left were bloody stumps. Gory, to say the least. He went unconscious due to shock from the loss of his limbs, and losing a lot of blood, yet he was still breathing, rather reedy. To sum it up, he was in very bad shape.
"The son of Captain Hook happened," said the former frost fairy, a sullen look on her face, "he sacrificed himself to protect me, he's barely hanging on."
Belle placed a hand on his chest, it barely rising and falling. She was crying more than anyone, because of the strong connection she shares with him. "Please don't die, Mike," she whispered, as Crescent, along with Lord Milori, landed beside the severely injured human.
"What can be done to save him?" he asked, just as Zarina flew down beside him. Clarion and Vidia joined them.
"There is one way," the queen said, "it has never been done before, but we will need every fairy and sparrowman in Pixie Hollow and the Winter Woods to do it." She looked to the alchemist. "Zarina, you know what to do," as she nodded in acknowledgement, and flew off to her lab. She turned to her ministers. "Take Zarina a rose petal from Spring, a sunflower petal from Summer, a leaf from Autumn, and a snowflake from Winter," she commanded, as the ministers took off to this duty. She then turned to Belle. "Take a hair from Michael, it will be needed as well." The magical muscle girl carefully plucked a hair from her boyfriend's head, and handed it to the queen. She handed it to Terence, who promptly flew to Zarina's lab. Viola came from behind and presented Clarion with her crown, and placed it atop her head, as she adorned the majestic dress made from pixie dust, taking her form and position as ruler of Pixie Hollow.
Soon after that, the alchemist flew out, with a big bowl in her hands. The concoction was a swirl of colors, from all parts of the realm. The power eminating from it was intense to say the least. Landing beside the queen, she inspected it.
"Does it have the blue pixie dust in it as well?" she asked.
"Yes," Zarina answered, "quite a bit."
Clarion flew up to the twin magical humans. She can tell that they've been crying a lot in the past few minutes. Everything that happened aboard the Jolly Roger was a blur, and still fresh in their minds. The tears were still fresh as well. The queen took a tear, from each of them, and held them in separate hands. Flying back down, she placed them into the pixie dust concoction, as the energy grew and the glow intensified. She then turned to the two sisters.
"Feed this to him," she said, "make sure he takes it all," as Belle took hold of the small bowl, and Perri helping to feed the mixture to Mike.
Barely responding, the human male allowed the elixir to flow down his throat. Clarion then turned to the ones gathered.
"The act we will perform, is to save the life of one who sacrificed to protect one of our own. This contains a piece from all four seasons, as well as from the individual himself. The teardrops are from the ones who truly care about him, and he them." She then flew to the height of the pixie dust tree. From that vantage point, all four seasons could be seen. She gazed down at the three.
"Belle, Perri," she said, "erect your wings, and place a hand each on his heart." The twins did as told, placing a hand on his chest, over his heart, side by side. As per their connection, their wings sparkled and glowed. Then Clarion spoke to her subjects.
"Concentrate, all your power please," she told them, as she closed her eyes and began to chant. "Oh spirit of Pixie Hollow, spirit of Never Land, hear this cry of the fairies; we beseech of you to restore the life of the son of Peter Pan, one who has sacrificed all he is, to protect one of our own; one who has been through so much, yet asked of so little. Restore to him the gift of life, and let his reward for peseverence be great."
Within seconds, the trees started to rustle, as the wind gently swept through the area, though it wasn't from the winter air. The clouds gathered, clear and fluffy, over the area of Pixie Hollow, as the sun shone in all of its brightness and glory. Combining with all the power of the fairies and sparrowmen of the realm, the clouds absorbed the sun's rays, and reflected them down to Queen Clarion. And with her astonishing ability, spread the rays out into one wide beam, and redirected it to bathe Belle, Perri and an barely alive Michael in it.
The rays were not stinging or burning hot; rather, they were warm and cozy, as the twins' wings sparkled and shimmered, in its array of colors. It normally happened when the two were close, anywhere.
Focusing the rays of sunshine, she aimed it to Mike's chest. And the real magic began.
The pixie dust concoction that he was fed, began to flow through his bruised, physically mutilated body. Combined with the blue dust, it magnified its power. Though it did not have an effect on fairies or sparrowmen when ingested, no one knew what effect it would have on humans. Until Zarina started her experiments, all they knew was that pixie dust helped them to fly. They knew more now than they did then, and all the benefits and cautions that came along with it. What is happening now, is what was discovered by Clarion's predecessor, Queen Incanta, a few milllennia before.
Having infused magic into a mirror that was stolen by pirates over a century ago, Incanta made discoveries about Pixie Hollow that garnered the most protection of the realm, and for its inhabitants to fullfil their jobs, as assistants in nature's changes. Now, one of the magical secrets of this place is about to be used to save a human life.
As the sun bathed Mike, the elixir began to work inside him. With the twin magical human fairy sisters as vehicles of transport, the pixie dust concoction flowed through his veins, mixing with and infusing into the remaining blood cells that flowed to his heart and various parts of his body, as well as soaking into his muscle fibers. The veins pulsed and glowed, as the sun expedited the healing process, with its dose of Vitamin D, the strength of the blue dust fueling the intensity. Slowly, the bruises across his face and chest started to heal. Soon after, his reedy breathing began to regulate. As the sun faded, he looked a good bit better than he did a few minutes ago. His chest rose and fell normally, though he was still unconscious.
Just to hear him breathe normally brought tears to Belle's eyes, as well as Perri's.
"He's going to be alright," said Queen Clarion, as she flittered down to the duo, the fluffy clouds parting, revealing the bright sunshine. "The magic that was used is only meant to save the life of a human. Unfortunately, it is not able to regenerate his lost limbs. I'm afraid that he'll have to live this way for the rest of his life."
Belle looked somber, knowing that it will be difficult for Mike to get used to being without an arm and a leg. But the queen continued.
"The magic also read his heart, and infused itself into every part of him. For his continued perseverence, and overcoming overwhelming odds from that ordeal eight years ago, he has been gifted with magic abilties, as you two are."
That sent Belle's eyes wide with surprise. "But, how?"
Clarion smiled. "Remember all the things you went through since your arrival here?" She nodded. "You, as TinkerBell, unknowingly became Pixie Hollow's strongest talented fairy, through your inventions and creative innovations. From saving Spring, to the Autumn Revelry scepter, mending the relationship of a human family, and reuniting the warm seasons and Winter Woods, as well as Lord Milori and myself," lovingly gazing at the lord of winter, "there will probably never be another like you, of your creative caliber. Michael, is your kindred spirit. Ever since that situation with Hook, he delved head first into creatiivity and innovation, same as you did. And all the time, trying to hide the hurt that dwelt deep in his mind and heart. Because of your deep, abiding admiration and love for him, you unknowingly freed him from his self-induced torment." She turned to Perri. "And with you being her twin, the same drive lives in you. You became the Winter Woods' most accomplished frost fairy, and your powers will come to fruition very soon. Just as Belle, push youself to the limit, and it will come."
She then flittered down to Mike's face. He was no longer in a lot of pain, and his memories had been wracked with confusion. Queen Clarion placed her hand on his left cheek, below his eye patch.
"Michael, son of Peter Pan, your determination is strong, yet your torment stronger. For each thing you lost, you have gained two. The magic that is now infused inside you, will help you immensely. With your act of selflessness, you have set your destiny. With the two women who love you, great things will transpire."
She moved away from them, as the other fairies flittered out of the way. "Take Michael, back to the cottage. He needs to rest. It will be a few days before he awakes. Look out for him, and love him. He needs as much as you can give him."
Standing up, Belle knelt down, and picked up Mike's sleeping form. Perri stood beside her. Both smiled.
"We'll go with you, sugar," Rosetta spoke up, surprising everyone, excpet their circle of friends. "They'll need all the moral support they can get."
"I don't mind," said Iridessa, with an eye to the other two.
"I'm in," said Fawn.
"You know me," said Silvermist, "he's our friend. After what he's been through, he needs us."
The girls gazed up to the boys above them. "Yall coming?" called the garden fairy in her trademark Southern drawl.
"Naw," called Terence, "you all need to tend to him, until he gets better, send us a note if you need anything."
Silvermist gazed up to the dust keeper overseer, and blushed, but before they took off, the lord of winter spoke.
"You might need some assistance," said Lord Milori, "Gliss, Spike, make sure their wings don't freeze up while on the mainland."
The two frost fairies, who were Perri's best friends in the Winter Woods, came forth, as Gliss is all too excited to do this.
"Oooo, ooooo, ooooo!" she said giddily, "thank you Lord Milori!" as she suddenly flew up to where the boys were, and in a surprise to everyone, hugged Bobble snuggly.
"I'll be back, my honey bubble," she whispered, which caused the tinker talent overseer to blush, nearly busting his bubble lenses.
"I'll be waiting, my little frosty flake," he whispered in his Scottish accent, as she laid one on his lips, freezing up his lenses instead. Gliss gazed at him, and giggled.
"Oh," she said bashfully, "sorry about that."
"I'll manage," he relented with a happy sigh, as she hugged him again, then went down to rejoin the fairy convoy.
"Since when did those two get into a relationship?" asked Vidia to Spike.
"They've been secretly seeing each other since he brought her that acorn after the border was reopened," replied the brunette frost fairy, "I'm sooooo glad," as she gave the fast flyer a smirk. Vidia winked back.
"You all ready to go?" asked Belle, as the girls hurried to put on their winter gear. All five were ready and bundled up for the cold in England.
"Yep," said Fawn, "let's fly!"
Belle and Perri summoned their wings, big, transluscent and beautiful, adorned with the same identical pattern. Starting to flutter, it made a slight breeze as the took off into the crisp blue sky. It was indeed a thankful time on Christmas Day, as the miracle of saving a life took place, with magic that made the second star sparkle a bit brighter than most of the time.
